New Conservative Climate Caucus chair announced

Republican Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks of Iowa is now serving as chair of the Conservative Climate Caucus‚ taking the reins from founder and former chair GOP Rep. John Curtis of Utah‚ who has shifted "to an advisory role as Chair Emeritus‚" according to a press release. "I am grateful for Rep. Curtis' leadership founding and growing the Conservative Climate Caucus‚" Miller-Meeks noted‚ according to the press release. "The U.S. is a leader in reducing greenhouse gas emissions‚ all while increasing energy production. As I assume leadership of the Caucus‚ I look forward to continuing to promote an any-of-the-above strategy for ensuring U.S. energy dominance with a globally competitive economy‚ while simultaneously reducing emissions for a cleaner‚ healthier planet.""I could not be more excited handing the keys to one of the most effective and ambitious members of the Republican Conference to keep our Caucus moving forward‚" noted Curtis‚ who is seeking to secure a seat in the U.S. Senate. "Rep. Miller-Meeks has been a constant advocate for energy and climate issues‚ representing her rural and energy rich district incredibly well."There are a more than six dozen individuals listed as caucus members‚ including figures such as GOP Reps. Dan Crenshaw of Texas‚ Burgess Owens of Utah‚ Nancy Mace of South Carolina‚ Tim Burchett of Tennessee‚ and Paul Gosar of Arizona."The climate is changing‚ and decades of a global industrial era that has brought prosperity to the world has also contributed to that change‚" a webpage about the caucus claims. "Reducing emissions is the goal‚ not reducing energy choices."The page states that the caucus educates House GOP lawmakers "on climate policies and legislation consistent with conservative values‚" organizes "member and staff briefings on conservative climate proposals‚" brings "Republicans to the table to fight against radical progressive climate proposals that would hurt our economy‚ American workers‚ and national security‚" organizes "co-dels and staff-dels to better understand technologies and issues related to climate‚" and introduces "Republican members and staff to leaders in industry‚ think tanks‚ and more."Like Blaze News? Lawn worker uses weed eater to knock alleged thief from getaway car on security video from Houston

Surveillance video captured the moment that a lawn worker used his string trimmer to knock an alleged thief from a getaway car after he and his accomplices tried to steal his lawn care equipment. The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office said in a post on Facebook that officers were called to the scene on Friday at Renmark Lane in Northwest Harris County. The lawn worker was at a job when he noticed men stealing equipment from his vehicle down the street‚ according to Harris County Constable Precinct 3 Captain Daniel Garza. “He observed a black Mercedes and a red Nissan Altima drive on the roadway‚” Garza explained. “A suspect exited the red Nissan Altima and stole two backpack blowers out of his trailer and put him in the backseat and began to flee the scene.”As they drove toward him‚ they tried to hit him with their vehicle. Instead‚ he hit the car with his string trimmer‚ causing one of the men to fall out of the car. He began to strike the man with the trimmer‚ knocking him down several times. At this point in the video‚ another man came into the frame to yell at the suspect to stay down‚ but he managed to stumble away. The car drove back‚ and he was able to get inside. The worker said that there were five men involved in the robbery and one flashed a gun at him during the incident. Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman said that police were able to identify the suspect after he went to a hospital to seek treatment for his injures. "The suspect‚ Jerell Alexander‚ received minor injuries from being struck and was later located at a local hospital‚" Herman said. Also‚ the video captured an accomplice yelling‚ "Come on‚ Jerell!" Police arrested the 24-year-old and charged him with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. Alexander had a previous conviction from 2019 of robbery with bodily injury. His bond was set at $50‚000. Police are trying to identify the four other suspects in the alleged robbery. They were all described as black males‚ and police believe they have images of the suspects from other security video. Garza offered some tips on how people could help them capture thieves from these kinds of crimes. “Take photographs of your equipment‚ log the serial numbers down and you can go a step further. Put a special marking that identifies them in a way that if you show numbers scratched off or damaged‚ you still have a marking that positively identifies your equipment‚” Garza said. “A lot of times‚ these suspects will go and try to resell this equipment to pawnshops or other crews‚" he added‚ "and that way we’re able to track this equipment.”Here's the video of the interaction: Like Blaze News? Alabama mom arrested after 2 kilograms of cocaine are found in 3-year-old's backpack‚ police say

Alabama mom arrested after 2 kilograms of cocaine are found in 3-year-old's backpack‚ police say

Alabama police said they found guns and a large quantity of cocaine at the Mobile home of a woman on Sunday after receiving a tip. The Mobile County Sheriff's Office said in a news release that a "reliable" and "confidential" source told them that 35-year-old Tierra Tocorra Hill had drugs at her home on Harvey court. Police initiated a traffic stop after surveilling her home and seeing her leave in a car. When they searched her car‚ they allegedly found 1.5 kilograms of cocaine‚ some marijuana‚ and a handgun. Police then searched her home and found that her 3-year-old was carrying two kilograms of cocaine in a blue Nike backpack. In addition‚ they found three other children in the home aged 8‚ 10‚ and 15 years old‚ and a black backpack with another kilogram of cocaine and two more handguns. “Say making a poor decision‚ I think that’s giving too much credit. I think she made a deliberate decision‚” said Mobile County Sheriff Paul Burch to WKRG-TV. Police said there were no other adults present in the home and that the children had access to the drugs and guns. “I think she made a deliberate decision to ride around with substantial amounts of drugs and a firearm in her car and leave her children home unintended with even more cocaine and more drugs‚ so that’s a deliberate action‚ that's not a poor decision‚" he added. Police estimated the total street value of the cocaine found to be about $450‚000. “It is absurd how reckless this situation was. There was a total disregard for the law and the children’s well-being‚" said Burch. “It’s safe to say that the 3-year-old probably did not put the drugs in the backpack‚" he added. “Each kilo is 2.2 lbs and they commonly refer to that as a brick‚ so you got two bricks in the backpack being worn by a three-year-old.”Hill was charged with four counts of chemical endangerment of a child‚ second-degree possession of marijuana‚ cocaine trafficking‚ and tampering with physical evidence. Police said she may face additional charges. “It’s just alarming that a mother would allow their children to be exposed to these types of things. She has to see a judge before bond is set but my two cents is she ought to sit her butt in jail until she goes to trial. She subjected those children to extremely dangerous situations‚” added Sheriff Burch. “We will not stop our fight against violent crime and drug dealers in Mobile County‚" he concluded. USCIS adds additional gender option to application for naturalization form

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced that the application for naturalization form now offers another gender option for those who do not identify as male or female. "USCIS is introducing a third gender option‚ 'X‚' defined as 'Another Gender Identity'. Today we published a new edition of Form N-400‚ the first form to include the X gender option. This option will become available on additional forms as we revise them‚" USCIS tweeted. — (@) While the post arrived on April Fools' Day‚ it was not a joke. The form now offers three checkboxes for gender‚ including‚ "Male‚" "Female‚" and "Another Gender Identity." "This revision is consistent with efforts to break down barriers in the immigration system and reduce undue burdens in accessing immigration benefits‚ while still maintaining identity verification and fraud prevention procedures‚" USCIS claimed."Form N-400 is the only USCIS form that offers the X gender option at this time. Therefore‚ until we complete additional form revisions that add the X gender option‚ naturalization certificates are the only USCIS-issued secure identity documents that can reflect the gender X. The X gender option is not yet available on the Form N-565‚" the agency noted.Vivek Ramaswamy tweeted‚ "The current priority of U.S. Citizenship &; Immigration Services isn't to fix the mass illegal immigration crisis. It's to introduce 'a third gender option' on their forms. Can't make this stuff up.""Announcing this new official policy on April Fool's is a bit too on the nose‚" John Cooper wrote."This is not an April Fool's Day joke‚ just another day and another ridiculous policy from the Biden administration‚" Alex Pfeiffer tweeted.Like Blaze News?
