The gun trial of first son, Hunter Biden, started Monday, with jury selection. First lady Jill Biden was in attendance, and the Bidens spent the weekend in Wilmington, Delaware in preparation for the trial.  Hunter Biden is charged with illegally purchasing and possessing a firearm while abusing or being addicted to drugs, which violates federal law. He has pleaded not guilty. Three women connected to Hunter Biden are scheduled to testify about his drug us related to the time he purchased the firearm: His ex-wife, Kathleen Buhle, his late brother’s widow Hallie Biden whom he dated, along with the woman from Arkansas, Lunden Roberts, the mother of one of his children — a granddaughter Joe Biden has previously refused to acknowledge.  Hunter’s words will also come back to haunt him. His memoir shows he was addicted to drugs at the time of the purchase, as does evidence from the so-called “laptop from hell,” the laptop Hunter reportedly left at a Delaware computer repair shop and never claimed. While the president is not expected to attend or testify at his son’s trial, he is on record stating, “My son has done nothing wrong.” And there’s the rub.  President Joe Biden detests guns and legal gun owners, but he defends his son, who is charged with violating federal gun laws. He also lies about gun statistics. The president has repeatedly claimed that “firearms are the leading cause of death for children.” But according to the fact checkers at the Washington Post, not exactly a Right-wing publication, “when all motor vehicle accidents are counted, then motor vehicle deaths continue to exceed firearm deaths for children – as defined as people under age 18.” The president has also called on Congress to pass what he calls “common sense” gun reform, including banning so-called assault weapons (isn’t any weapon used to commit an assault an assault weapon?).  Biden has also called for required background checks on all gun sales and a ban on high-capacity magazines. Let’s examine each of these demands. First, so-called assault weapons are not the gun of choice for criminals. According to an April 2023 report from Pew Research Center,  In 2020, the most recent year for which the FBI has published data, handguns were involved in 59% of the 13,620 U.S. gun murders and non-negligent manslaughters for which data is available. Rifles – the category that includes guns sometimes referred to as “assault weapons” – were involved in 3% of firearm murders. So Biden wants to ban a class of weapons responsible for approximately 408 deaths versus weapons that were responsible for about 8,035 deaths. By comparison, about 450 people die each year by falling out of bed. Statistically, the president should therefore be focusing on making beds safer, especially bunk beds and waterbeds, which are clearly the ‘assault weapons’ of beds. The president also wants to ban so-called high-capacity magazines, which, depending on the definition, is any magazine with a capacity of 10 or more rounds of ammunition. The theory is that the fewer bullets a person has in a magazine, the fewer people he or she can kill without reloading. Woe to the single mother, living in remote Montana with the nearest police officer 20 miles away, facing three intruders aiming to rape her and kill her children. I think she should have as large a magazine as possible to defend herself and her children. The last requirement, expanded background checks, is another canard. Background checks are required for anyone purchasing a firearm from a federally licensed firearm dealer. Background checks are not required for the private transfer of firearms, such as if I decide to legally gift a firearm to my son or sell one to my cousin. Oh, and Hunter Biden passed his background check, even though he has been charged with falsifying his application. The last fallacy of Biden’s war against the Second Amendment is that criminals do not, by definition, follow the law. That is what makes them criminals. From 2017 through 2021, more than 1 million firearms were stolen from legal gun owners. In addition, a 2016 survey of prison inmates reported that approximately 1 in 5 (21%) of all state and federal prisoners reported possessing or using a firearm when they committed the offense for which they were serving time. Of those prisoners, only 7% purchased the weapon under their own name from a licensed dealer. More than half of prisoners (56%) had stolen the weapon, found it at the scene of a crime, or obtained it off the street or from the underground market. President inconsistency on guns have come to light, given the trial of his son. I do not condemn the president for wanting to defend his son, any father would. Robert De Niro will no longer be receiving an award at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) annual event following his rant outside the courthouse against former President Donald Trump — just before a New York jury found Trump guilty. The NAB had planned to celebrate the 80-year-old actor on Tuesday with its Service To America Award at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., but instead has pulled the recognition because the group said it is “proudly bi-partisan,” the Hill reported. “While we strongly support the right of every American to exercise free speech and participate in civic engagement, it is clear that Mr. De Niro’s recent high-profile activities will create a distraction from the philanthropic work that we were hoping to recognize,” a spokesperson for the NAB wrote in a statement. “To maintain the focus on service of the award winners, Mr. De Niro will no longer be attending the event.” Taking a look on the NAB website, De Niro’s name and picture is not listed as one of this year’s winners. ?Report: Robert De Niro will no longer receive the coveted National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) award that he was supposed to receive next week. Before Trump was convicted in the Hush-Money trial, De Niro railed against the former president and his supporters during a President Joe Biden campaign event outside the New York courthouse as the trial was headed to closing arguments. “Under Trump, this kind of government will perish from the Earth. I don’t mean to scare you. No, no, wait, maybe I do mean to scare you. If Trump returns to the White House, you can kiss these freedoms goodbye that we all take for granted,” De Niro said, “And elections? Forget about them. That’s over, that’s done. If he gets in, I can tell you right now, he will never leave. He will never leave. You know that. He will never leave.” “That’s why I’ve joined the Biden-Harris campaign, because the only way to preserve our freedoms and hold on to our humanity is to vote for Joe Biden for president,” he added. “Really – we don’t have a choice.” Trump campaign officials characterized the event as an act of desperation by the Biden campaign. Singer Adele had a strong reaction when someone in the crowd allegedly spoke negatively about “Pride.” A video of the incident quickly went viral on social media after it was shared Sunday by Sky News. The clip showed the “Someone Like You” singer addressing the concertgoer from the stage of her Las Vegas residency on June 1, the first day of “Pride Month.” The fan had reportedly yelled out, “Pride sucks,” which is what prompted Adele to respond in anger. However, another fan posted a video of the alleged heckler, claiming he had actually said, “Work sucks.”  “Hate to defend a m*n but the guy was somewhere behind me and he said “work sucks” not “pride sucks,” that X user wrote.  Adele believed he said “pride,” though.  “Did you come to my f***ing show and just say that Pride sucks?” the singer said.  “Are you f***ng stupid?” the 36-year-old recording artist added. “Don’t be so f***ing ridiculous. If you don’t have anything nice to say, shut up, all right?”  Adele then brushed her hair off her shoulder dramatically as many concertgoers started cheering and clapping. A second video shows another moment during the event when the Grammy Award-winning star addressed the fan again. “Happy Pride,” she said, pointing in the direction of the person who yelled out. “Not to you, though.” This isn’t the first time the British singer voiced her support for the LGBT community. In 2016, she spoke through tears about the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando. “I would like to start tonight by dedicating this entire show to everybody in Orlando at Pulse nightclub,” Adele told the crowd. “The LGBTQ community, they’re like my soulmates since I was really young, so I’m really moved by it.” The singer frequently uses profanity to make her point when addressing the crowd. After several high-profile performers were hit by fans throwing projectiles onto the stage, Adele issued a stern warning to anyone attending her shows. “Have you noticed how people are forgetting f***ing show etiquette at the moment? People are throwing sh** on stage. Have you seen that?” “I f***ing dare you — I dare you to throw something at me,” she continued while brandishing a t-shirt cannon. “I’ll f***ing kill you.”

“Gossip Girl” actress Taylor Momsen was bitten by a bat while performing on stage in Sevilla, Spain, forcing her to get rabies shots over the course of two weeks. The 30-year-old singer was opening for AC/DC on the European portion of their Power Up tour when the incident happened. Besides working in Hollywood as a TV actress, Momsen is the lead singer of the band The Pretty Reckless. The singer turned around and bent over to see the bat clinging to her dress. “Holy f***!” she yelled before returning to the mic. “There’s a f***ing flying bat on my leg right now,” she added, addressing the stage crew to ask for help. “I must really be a witch,” Momsen said. The singer went on to thank the audience and say, “It’s all right,” after the bat was taken away. “And the bat’s fine,” Momsen said. “He’s gonna be my new friend.” She also shared footage of herself in the hospital receiving shots to prevent rabies.  Per the Mayo Clinic, rabies is a deadly virus spread to people from the saliva of infected animals. It’s usually transmitted through a bite. Once a person begins showing signs of rabies, the disease nearly always causes death. That’s why anyone who may have been exposed to the virus must receive vaccinations immediately. Early symptoms of rabies are similar to those of the flu, while later the symptoms may include fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, agitation, anxiety, confusion, hyperactivity, difficulty swallowing, excessive salivation, fear of consuming fluid, hallucinations, insomnia, and partial paralysis.
