NBC News chief political analyst Chuck Todd slammed his network during a Sunday broadcast of “Meet the Press” after NBC hired former Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel as a paid contributor. Todd discussed McDaniel’s hiring with journalist Kristen Welker‚ who recently sat down with McDaniel for an interview on the relationship between the Trump campaign and the RNC in the aftermath of the 2020 election. McDaniel stepped down from her role as chair of the RNC following a private meeting in February with former President Donald Trump‚ who tapped her to lead the party after his 2016 presidential election victory. “Let me deal with the elephant in the room‚” Todd said‚ looking at Welker. “I think our bosses owe you an apology for putting you in this situation because I don’t know what to believe. [McDaniel] is now a paid contributor by NBC News. The original story featured a woman from Gaza named Jamila Al-Hessi‚ who claimed that although she was not in the hospital‚ she had seen women being raped and killed by IDF soldiers. Her “testimony” subsequently went viral. But Al Jazeera columnist and former director Yasser Abuhilalah tweeted‚ “It was revealed through Hamas investigations that the story of the rape of women in Al-Shifa Hospital was fabricated … The woman who spoke about rape justified her exaggeration and incorrect talk by saying that the goal was to arouse the nation’s fervor and brotherhood.” Al Jazeera deleted the story from its page after it was up for over 24 hours‚ The Jerusalem Post reported. Jihad Khelles‚ a pro-Hamas preacher from Gaza‚ also tweeted there was no proof of Al-Hessi’s story. IDF Arabic-language spokesman Avichay Adraee had already stated‚ “After they failed at everything else‚ Hamas’s mouthpieces and its propaganda made up a lie that Israeli soldiers raped women and murdered them. Of course without any proof. One woman called and said that she was calling from what they call a ‘hospital.’ No one knows who this woman is; she just threw out some claims and lies so that Al Jazeera and Hamas mouthpieces could spread the lie.” “[T]he Al Jazeera network and the Hamas mouthpieces are working unsuccessfully to improve the appearance of ISIS-Hamas after October 7th and the acts of massacre‚ rape‚ and destruction it committed‚” he continued. “Hamas failed in every field – both on the ground and in the media. For the first time in 10 years‚ Attica Zoological Park in Athens‚ Greece‚ has welcomed a brand new baby pygmy hippo into their midst. These critters have actually become fairly rare in captivity‚ so a lot of people are pretty excited about this adorable little guy! He was born on February 19 and has yet to be named. His parents are Lizzie and Jamal‚ the only other animals of their kind at this zoo. Noi Psaroudaki‚ a wildlife veterinarian at Attica Zoological Park‚ explained to Reuters the significance of this baby pygmy hippo’s birth. “This is the first birth in the zoo in 2024‚ and what a birth!” she said. “Every captive birth of pygmy hippos is extremely important. We’re very happy to see this baby grow into a healthy adult hippo‚ and hopefully one day reproduce.” It’s apparently especially fortunate that the Attica Zoological Park’s newest pygmy hippo is a boy. As an endangered species‚ it’s crucial for these creatures to be able to breed. However‚ there’s been quite a shortage of males living in captivity‚ which has made things difficult to say the least!
