Keep in mind that this high-speed train project, which was initially supposed to connect Los Angeles and San Francisco, was supposed to be done four years ago for the modest cost of $33 billion. Somehow, that cost blew up over the years...by around $100 billion with no set deadline in sight. It's now estimated that the project would be completed somewhere around 2030-2033, though a recent report indicates that it will miss that deadline, too. As it stands, only 171 of the planned 800 miles are "under construction" -- not even completed, yet! Ignore the noise. We’re busy building. The New York Post shared more details about who exactly she is: Tomasini was one of the first Biden aides dispatched to take inventory of papers in March 2021 at the Penn Biden Center, where some of the sensitive files were later found by his lawyers and turned over to the authorities… Tomasini began her career as a press secretary for then-Senator Joe Biden (D-Del.) when he chaired the chamber’s Foreign Relations Committee in the 2000s. She initially agreed to come before the Oversight panel willingly, but reversed her decision earlier this week. Her lawyer requested a subpoena to compel her appearance in front of the Oversight panel. This morning, tragedy struck at a sheriff training facility in Los Angeles, CA. A deadly explosion killed at least three sheriff’s deputies. However, according to LA County Sheriff Robert Luna, the deputies were handling explosives when the blast went off. ABC News 7 shared his latest update: Three LASD members assigned to the agency’s Arson/Explosives Detail were killed in the blast, L.A. County Sheriff Robert Luna said at a late-morning news conference. The sheriff declined to publicly identify the victims, citing family members who were still being informed of the deaths. Between the three of them, deceased employees had served in the department for 74 years, according to Luna. He said the catastrophe marked the LASD’s worst loss of life in a single incident since 1857. No one else was injured in the explosion. Luna said the cause of the disaster was unknown, adding that the devices involved were rendered safe by responding members of the Los Angeles Police Department’s bomb squad. The sheriff’s personnel were apparently handling some kind of explosives when there was a blast, according to preliminary information from sources. Reportedly, the deputies were handling explosives that they picked up from a bomb call. Aside from the three deputies killed in the explosion, one other was injured and is currently in the hospital. The Los Angeles Times has more details: The blast occurred just before 7:30 a.m. at the center on Eastern Avenue, which is home to the sheriff’s special enforcement bureau and the arson explosive detail, including the bomb squad. The injured individual was taken to a hospital after the explosion, authorities said. Their condition was not clear. Preliminary information indicates deputies were moving an unexploded ordnance recently recovered from a bomb call out when the blast occurred, according to two law enforcement sources. The sources stressed that the investigation is ongoing. The bomb squad typically picks up potential explosives across the region daily, but it’s a situation that’s always fraught with danger because it’s hard to assess the stability of materials and their age, the sources told The Times. After the explosion, LAPD’s bomb squad responded to the scene to help render any other potential explosive materials safe. The FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives also responded to assist with the investigation. Employees told The Times they heard a massive boom shortly before 7:30 a.m. coming from the parking lot where the sheriff’s bomb squad keeps its vehicles. They heard glass shattering and screaming. In the radio communications reviewed by The Times, a sheriff dispatcher tells units that there was an “explosion with three down.” She later advises that a sheriff‘s weapons team leader said investigators should “not approach” the scene at the time.
