Could Joe Biden Drop Out Of Presidential Election This Weekend?

The pressure for Joe Biden from Democrats to withdraw from the presidential election continues to rise. According to reports, Biden may drop out of the race this weekend. “Several top Democrats privately tell us the rising pressure of party congressional leaders and close friends will persuade President Biden to decide to drop out of the presidential race, as soon as this weekend,” Axios reports. The Democratic party: A part that loves democracy so much that they force out the democratically nominated candidate. Biden is reportedly accepting the notion that he may not be the best person for the job,” Collin Rugg writes. The president is being told that if he stays in, former President Trump could win in a landslide and wipe away Biden’s legacy and Democrats’ hopes in November. The pressure to step aside as a candidate has been rising to intolerable levels, especially over the past few days. Democrats fully expect polls after the Republican National Convention to show a possible blowout that could bring down Democrats in Congress, too. “His choice is to be one of history’s heroes, or to be sure of the fact that there’ll never be a Biden presidential library,” one of the president’s close friends told us. “I pray that he does the right thing. He’s headed that way.” Yesterday’s AP poll, showing nearly two-thirds of Democrats want Biden to withdraw from the presidential race, ricocheted through the White House and Congress. A panic pressure campaign is pounding Biden. It has been relentless — and coordinated. This is the first direct, open confrontation at the senior level,” he said. The developments come at a crucial time for the Biden campaign. ABC News’ Jonathan Karl reported earlier Wednesday that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer told Biden on Saturday that it would be best if Biden bowed out of the presidential race. In a statement responding to the ABC News reporting, a Schumer spokesperson said, “Unless ABC’s source is Senator Chuck Schumer or President Joe Biden the reporting is idle speculation. Leader Schumer conveyed the views of his caucus directly to President Biden on Saturday.” What that statement did not say, however, was three important words that Schumer has included every time he is asked whether Biden’s candidacy should proceed: “I’m with Joe.” Although Biden has been defiant, he said in an interview he would consider dropping out of the election if a doctor diagnosed him with a ‘medical condition.’ [WATCH] Joe Biden Says “Medical Condition” Would Make Him Consider Withdrawing From Presidential Election Hours later, Biden tested positive for COVID-19. Former VP Finalist Says Trump Called Him ‘Mr. Secretary’ On Call That He Wasn’t Running Mate

North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum said President Trump called him ‘Mr. Secretary’ on the phone call saying he was not selected as vice president. “Yes, he did do that. That’s how he opened up the call,” Burgum said. “It’s generous of him to think that way,” he added. “Is there a Cabinet position you’re interested in?” CBS Evening News anchor Norah O’Donnell asked. Commerce and energy were two Cabinet positions mentioned in the interview as possible spots for Burgum. WATCH: North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum says Donald Trump referred to him as "Mr. Secretary" when he called this week to say Burgum would not be his running mate. Doug Burgum (R) said former President Trump appeared to extend on invite to serve in his Cabinet if he wins a second term to the White House, during a call in which Trump informed Burgum he would not be his running mate. Burgum was one of the top contenders to be selected as Trump’s vice presidential candidate before the former president announced Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) as his running mate Monday. In an interview with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins during the Republican National Convention on Monday, Burgum recounted how Trump told him he was not going to be his running mate. “Well, I got a call and a great conversation with the president. And he said, ‘Hey, Mr. Secretary.’ He’s always been so positive and so considerate to [my wife] Kathryn and I this whole time,” he said. “But, as you know, Kaitlan, we were never running for a Cabinet position, never running to be V.P. As a sitting governor, I’ve got 152 days left of the greatest job in the nation, being a governor of North Dakota right now,” he added. WATCH: North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum got a primetime slot to speak on the third night of the Republican National Convention after losing out as a finalist to be former President Donald Trump’s running mate, adding another moment in his rise from a relative unknown to a potential Cabinet secretary. Burgum ran a longshot presidential primary campaign, dropping out days before the fourth debate and endorsed Trump shortly after. He was a frequent presence on the campaign trail, acting as a Trump surrogate with voters and donors that has gained him influence and a potential spot in a second Trump administration. Burgum is a frequently floated name as someone who could serve in Trump’s cabinet if he goes onto win the November election. He has ties to the oil and gas industry that is a major part of his state’s economy and received praise from Trump for his knowledge of the energy industry. During his remarks Wednesday night, Burgum primarily focused on “unleashing American energy” and criticized President Joe Biden for his push to move toward renewable energy sources and away from combustion-powered engines.

CURTAIN CALL: Obama Tells Biden to ‘Seriously Consider’ Exiting the 2024 Race

A report from the Washington Post claims Barack Obama has recently told allies that Joe Biden’s path to victory is “greatly diminished” and he should “seriously consider” his campaign’s viability going forward. JUST IN – Barack Obama says Biden "needs to seriously consider the viability of his candidacy."pic.twitter.com/JQ89p11FXL— Disclose.tv (@disclosetv) July 18, 2024 Breaking news: Former president Barack Obama has told allies in recent days that President Biden’s path to victory has greatly diminished and he thinks the president needs to seriously consider the viability of his candidacy. https://t.co/4bw9LiMTTJ— The Washington Post (@washingtonpost) July 18, 2024 From the Washington Post: Former president Barack Obama has told allies in recent days that President Biden’s path to victory has greatly diminished and he thinks the president needs to seriously consider the viability of his candidacy, according to multiple people briefed on his thinking. Obama has spoken with Biden only once since the debate, and he has been clear in his conversations with others that the future of Biden’s candidacy is a decision for the president to make. He has emphasized that his concern is protecting Biden and his legacy, and has pushed back against the idea that he alone can influence Biden’s decision-making process. Behind the scenes, Obama has been deeply engaged in conversations about the future of Biden’s campaign, taking calls from many anxious Democrats, including former House speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), and has shared his views about the president’s challenges, according to people with knowledge of the calls, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss private conversations.

NBC News explained what would happen if Joe Biden left office before or after the convention. “Note that if this unprecedented situation were to happen, it’s possible the party could vote to change any of the rules around candidate replacement. And if it comes to pass after the convention, it’s possible state laws could complicate […] The post This Is What Happens When Biden Drops Out appeared first on www.independentsentinel.com.
