Judge Scott McAfee ruled on Monday that the former divorce lawyer for special prosecutor Nathan Wade should testify about Wade’s relationship with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis as she faces disqualification from the election interference case against former President Donald Trump.  McAfee said that Terrence Bradley‚ who previously worked as Wade’s law partner and divorce lawyer‚ would not be exempted from testifying on the relationship between Willis and Wade‚ according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Bradley’s testimony could shed further light on when the relationship between Wade and Willis began‚ a key part of the case for disqualifying Willis.  Lawyers for Mike Roman‚ one of Trump’s co-defendants‚ have argued that Willis should be disqualified because of an improper relationship with Wade‚ with whom she admitted to having a romantic relationship. Roman’s lawyers say that their romance began before the Trump case and that Willis has paid Wade hundreds of thousands of dollars which they have used to go on lavish vacations.  Willis claims that the relationship began after she hired Wade‚ who reportedly has little prosecuting experience. She also disputed allegations that Wade was paying for their trips entirely with money she had paid him from the Trump case.  McAfee met with Bradley for more than an hour on Monday before ruling that emails between him and Wade did not fall under attorney-client privilege. The data indicates that Wade appeared to make 35 trips to Willis’ neighborhood in Hapeville‚ Georgia‚ before he was hired. During his testimony last week‚ Wade said he had not visited Willis’ home more than ten times before 2021. The data submitted by Trump’s attorneys poses another timeline issue for Willis‚ since both she and Wade testified under oath that their romantic relationship didn’t begin until 2022. An affidavit from investigator Charles Mittelstadt was included in Friday’s court filing and says that Willis and Wade called each other more than 2‚000 times in the first 11 months of 2021. Willis and Wade also sent nearly 12‚000 text messages during that same time period‚ according to CellHawk‚ the tool Mittelstadt used.  Trump has maintained his innocence in Georgia‚ saying that he is being prosecuted for political purposes. 

Around 264‚000 criminal cases‚ including more than 4‚000 sex assault cases‚ have been suspended by the Houston Police Department (HPD) since 2016‚ citing a “lack of personnel” code‚ according to Houston Police Chief Troy Finner. Finner announced on Monday that an in-depth review of the department’s use of the “lack of personnel” code over the past eight years revealed it had suspended around 10% of the 2.8 million incident reports that were filed‚ the Houston Chronicle reported. The Houston Police Department first revealed last week that just over 4‚000 cases of alleged sexual assault had been suspended over “lack of personnel‚” which sparked a closer look at how the code was used throughout all divisions of the police department. The police chief voiced his frustration at his department suspending sex assault cases last week‚ saying that the code should have never existed‚ but was developed around ten years ago to label reports “suspended due to a lack of personnel.” Finner said he first became aware of the code being used in 2021‚ and he ordered his department to stop using it to suspend cases. Finner added that an investigation is underway to look into why his order was disobeyed. “Am I proud about this? No‚ I’m angry‚ okay‚ because I know we are better‚ and we are going to make it right‚ and we will make it right‚” Finner said‚ according to Fox 26 Houston. “We are still short of staff and some people say 2‚000 officers‚ so we do the best that we can do‚ but that’s not good enough when we are not investigating sexual assaults.” The HPD also released a statement on Monday‚ going over its findings on the “lack of personnel code” use. Of the 264‚000 suspended cases‚ around 100‚000 of them involved property crimes‚ according to the police department. The Houston PD added that it will focus on reviewing sexual assault reports. “Our efforts to review sexual assault incident reports and contact potential victims continue‚” the statement said. “We are also moving additional personnel to other investigative divisions to address these incident reports involving crimes against persons.” Houston Mayor John Whitmire said the suspended cases are “unacceptable.” “I am very concerned. Dogs aren’t just labeled as “K9 Police Dogs” and plopped into a patrol car. Depending on the type of service the dog is training for‚ they may be “in training” for several years. Training begins with basic obedience training when the dog is a puppy. As a dog passes each round of training‚ they advance to the next level. They may “flunk out” at any stage and be placed for a normal adoption. While training is intense and purposeful‚ Epoch Inspired posted an unofficial puppy k9 training video on X (Twitter)‚ which is hilarious. The puppy k9 training footage begins with a heavily padded “thief” leaving a garage carrying a small bat. The sirens blare‚ and the police car pulls up next to the suspect (after driving an astonishing 20 feet during the pursuit).
