Former Biden DOJ Lawyer Makes Opening Argument in Trump Trial on Stormy Daniels Hush Money

A former lawyer in the Biden Justice Department delivered the prosecution’s opening argument Monday in a Manhattan courthouse as the first criminal trial of former President Donald Trump got underway.  “This case is about a criminal conspiracy and a coverup‚” former acting U.S. Associate Attorney General Matthew Colangelo‚ senior counsel to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg‚ told the jury. Bragg‚ an elected Democrat‚ secured a 34-felony count indictment against Trump alleging that he falsified business records regarding supposed hush money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels‚ whose real name is Stephanie Gregory Clifford.  Among other things‚ the indictment alleges Trump was seeking to cover up a potential federal campaign finance violation‚ which the U.S. Justice Department and the Federal Election Commission previously reviewed before dismissing the payments as a campaign matter.  “The defendant‚ Donald Trump‚ orchestrated a criminal scheme to corrupt the 2016 presidential election‚” Colangelo continued in his opening statement‚ Politico reported. “Then‚ he covered up that conspiracy in his business records by lying over and over and over again.” Colangelo became acting associate attorney general under Attorney General Merrick Garland on Jan. 20‚ 2021‚ Joe Biden’s first day as president. Bragg announced Colengelo’s hiring in December 2022.  Bragg secured the grand jury indictment against Trump in April 2023. Colangelo also previously worked for the New York Attorney General’s Office in its investigation of Trump.  Biden‚ a Democrat‚ defeated Trump‚ the incumbent Republican‚ in the 2020 presidential election. Trump has a lock on the GOP nomination to take on Biden again in November. Critics of this prosecution of the former president point to Colangelo’s ties to the Biden administration.  Matthew Colangelo gave the opening statement in this unprecedented criminal trial of a former president‚ who happens to be the leading presidential rival of his former boss.Biden Democrats aren’t even pretending to hide this is Biden’s blatant lawfare and election interference. https://t.co/1hPwIS64WU— &;#63;&;#63; Mike Davis &;#63;&;#63; (@mrddmia) April 22‚ 2024 For his part‚ Trump accused Biden of pushing the so-called hush money case as well as his other court cases.  “I just want to say these are all Biden trials. This is done as election interference. Everybody knows it‚” Trump told reporters outside the courtroom in New York City.  “I’m here instead of being able to be in Pennsylvania and Georgia and lots of other places campaigning‚ and it’s very unfair‚” Trump‚ the presumptive Republican presidential nominee‚ said. “Fortunately‚ the poll numbers are very good. They’ve been going up because people understand what is going on.” “This is a witch hunt. It is a shame and it comes out of Washington‚” the former president said. “It is in coordination with Washington‚ everything‚ including the DA’s office.” President Trump:&;quot; This is a Biden witch hunt&;#33;&;quot; pic.twitter.com/ejTR1BHVTZ— Citizen Free Press (@CitizenFreePres) April 22‚ 2024 As noted in my book “Abuse of Power‚” which chronicles the beginning of anti-Trump lawfare‚ while Trump was president many congressional Democrats and progressive commentators advocated using the Stormy Daniels case as grounds for impeaching Trump.  David Pecker‚ former publisher of the National Enquirer’s parent company‚ American Media Inc.‚ was the only witness called and reportedly took the stand for just over 20 minutes. Pecker was expected to return to testify again.  “We used checkbook journalism and we paid for stories‚” Pecker said of the National Enquirer in his testimony‚ NBC News reported. “I gave a number to the editors that they could not spend more than $10‚000 to investigate‚ produce‚ or publish a story.”  The National Enquirer was involved in a plan to “catch and kill” pay for the story of a Daniels-Trump tryst to prevent it from coming out before the 2016 election that made Trump president.  During his opening argument‚ Trump lawyer Todd Blanche told jurors: “This sort of thing happens regularly where newspapers make decisions about what to publish‚ when to publish.”  Blanche added‚ “Use your common sense. We’re New Yorkers. It’s why we’re all here.” Late last week‚ the prosecution and defense selected 12 jurors and six alternates.  A New York City jury is likely to find Trump guilty‚ predicted Hans von Spakovsky‚ a senior legal fellow at The Heritage Foundation‚ which founded The Daily Signal in 2014. “This case is just bogus from start to finish‚” von Spakovsky told The Daily Signal earlier this month. “It’s in Manhattan. It’s a Manhattan jury. And I’ll tell you‚ quite frankly‚ I think if the DA charged Donald Trump with eating a ham sandwich‚ the jury would find him guilty.”  Trump has been indicted in three other criminal cases. Special counsel Jack Smith secured an indictment in Washington‚ D.C.‚ against Trump for his challenge of the 2020 election outcome. Smith also secured a federal indictment of Trump in Florida over his handling of classified documents after leaving office in January 2021.  In Georgia‚ Trump was indicted with over 15 campaign associates for allegedly conspiring to overturn the contest for Georgia’s electoral votes in the 2020 election after Biden won the state.  The post Former Biden DOJ Lawyer Makes Opening Argument in Trump Trial on Stormy Daniels Hush Money appeared first on The Daily Signal.

CBS Frets ‘Apparently Anti-Semitic Incidents’ at Columbia Marred ‘Peaceful Protests’

CBS broke the ice Monday (after a footnote last week then silence) on the rampant anti-Semitism and terrorist sympathizing at Columbia University by pro-Hamas elements of the student body and like-minded fiends‚ but they went full-blown ‘fiery but mostly peaceful’ as CBS Mornings co-host and Democratic donor Gayle King fretted the “apparently anti-Semitic incidents” overshadowed “peaceful protests”. CBS only spent 49 seconds in an extended news brief delivered by King‚ which began innocently enough: “Back here in New York‚ Columbia University has moved all classes on line today as pro-Palestinian demonstrations continue on and near the campus.”     King then did her best impression of CNN’s Omar Jimenez and MSNBC’s Ali Velshi: “Although there have been peaceful protests‚ a series of apparently anti-Semitic incidents near campus prompted one rabbi at the school to call for all Jewish students to leave. However‚ Jewish groups on campus pushed back on that saying students should stay.” After reading an excerpt of a statement from White House social media troll Andrew Bates‚ King acknowledged Monday night marks the start of Passover and noted the heat Columbia’s president received from “both sides of the aisle...last week about anti-Semitism on college campuses”. Even the chyron was harsher as it stated without a qualifer that “Anti-Semitic Incidents Occur[red] Amid Pro-Palestinian Demonstrations”. In the “Eye Opener”‚ co-host Nate Burleson also downplayed the anti-Semitism: “Protests lead to charges of anti-Semitism on the campus of Columbia University as a crackdown fails to stop the demonstrations.” In both cases‚ Burleson and King certainly wouldn’t have been as muted if those calling for harming Jews were uttered by middle-aged or elderly white males like in Charlottesville. ABC continued its coverage with a 67-second segment on Good Morning America‚ starting with vague allusions by co-host Robin Roberts of “security concerns...at Columbia University amid the Israel/Hamas war.” World News Now/America This Morning co-host Rhiannon Ally spoke of “growing concern about safety at the school‚ as protests stemming from that Israel/Hamas war intensify” and the remote learning day following “a fifth day yesterday of Columbia pro-Palestine students protesting.” The so-called protests‚ she explained‚ have merely been aimed at having Columbia “divest its stocks‚ funds‚ and endowments from companies that they say profit from Israel’s violation of international law and Palestinian human rights.” Ally never explained what the threats were to Jewish students‚ omitting shouts wanting an “intifada”‚ praising Hamas fighters Al-Qassam‚ calling for the restoration of Palestine (i.e. an ethnic cleansing of Jews)‚ demanding Tel Aviv be burned to the ground‚ telling Jewish students to “go back to Poland”‚ or praising the “martyrs” who died slaughtering Jews on October 7. NBC’s Today had the most time with a two-minute-and-49 second segment. After warning in a tease of “crisis on campus”‚ co-host Hoda Kotb downplayed the scene with more esoteric descriptions of “[p]ro-Palestinian protesters have been demonstrating on campus for days”. Correspondent Erin McLaughin provided a little bit more detail (click “expand”): MCLAUGHLIN: Last week‚ more than 100 protesters were arrested on campus and now a rabbi is urging Jewish students to return home as soon as possible citing concerns over their safety and classes today are happening virtually. All of this ahead of Passover‚ the Jewish holiday‚ which begins at sundown tonight. PRO-HAMAS PROTESTERS: We will free Palestine&;#33; MCLAUGHLIN: This morning‚ as demonstrations continue on university campuses‚ New York’s Columbia University announcing all classes will be held virtually today. University president Minouche Shafik issuing a statement saying “we need a reset...to deescalate the rancor” and the university announcing it is adding more security on campus‚ including 111 additional safety personnel. The move comes as a rabbi at Columbia is urging students to “return home as soon as possible.” Rabbi Eli Buechler. in a letter to Jewish students this weekend‚ going on to say‚ “no one should have to endure this level of hatred‚ let alone at school.” PRO-HAMAS PROTESTERS: In-ti-fada&;#33; MCLAUGHLIN: The campus tense amid demonstrations denouncing the Israel-Hamas war. New York Mayor Adams condemning video such as this‚ which he says shows a young woman with a sign pointing to Jewish students saying‚ Al Qassem’s next targets. Adams also pointing to one incident last week: a demonstrator chanting‚ “we are Hamas”. Shafik saying in her statement‚ “tensions have been exploited and amplified by individuals who are not affiliated with Columbia”. BAUM: As a Jew‚ I no longer feel welcome‚ I no longer feel safe on campus‚ and I no longer feel like I belong. SONYA POZNANSKY: To be honest‚ no‚ I think my safety has definitely been compromised in a lot of ways over the last few days. McLaughlin concluded her report with press releases from the Columbia president and the White House‚ but proceeded them with some serious belly-aching from Columbia Students for Justice in Palestine: Last night in a press release‚ Columbia Students for Justice in Palestine expressed frustration over‚ “inflammatory individuals who do not represent us”‚ adding the group rejects “any form of hate or bigotry.” To see the relevant transcripts from April 22‚ click here (for ABC)‚ here (for CBS)‚ and here (for NBC).

MRC‚ Bozell Petition FCC Not to Create a ‘Special Soros Shortcut’

The Media Research Center wants the Federal Communications Commission to know: “The Communications Act does not contain a special Soros shortcut.” Today‚ the Media Research Center (MRC) and its president‚ Brent Bozell‚ filed a formal petition to the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) requesting that the agency not fast-track George Soros’ scheme to take over radio behemoth Audacy‚ which owns the second largest number of broadcast radio stations in the country. Leftist activist billionaire George Soros and his company Soros Fund Management have pushed for the FCC to approve their assignment applications to become the largest shareholder in Audacy. The Communications Act‚ however‚ requires the FCC first perform a “public interest” analysis before approving such an acquisition‚ particularly in a case like this one‚ where foreign ownership interests are involved. However‚ Soros has asked the FCC to disregard this congressionally-mandated procedure‚ saying the commission should use its byzantine “special warrant” process to sidestep proper review. Soros Fund Management‚ made a move to spend $400 million to acquire 40 percent of Audacy’s shares‚ insisting that the “special warrant” process is necessary as Audacy has recently filed for bankruptcy. However‚ as Bozell stated succinctly on behalf of the MRC in the FCC petition‚ “The Soros filings fail to demonstrate that in this case any interest in the reasonably efficient emergence from bankruptcy cannot be accommodated while also assessing the foreign ownership interests at the same time.”   Bozell pointed out that rather than being motivated by necessity‚ Soros groups are simply pushing to disregard the congressionally-mandated rules. Bozell explained: “[I]t appears that the Soros groups are simply trying to create an entirely new process or rule [to] … get special treatment when it comes to the [Communications Act] process.” The New York Post previously reported that Soros’ attempted takeover of Audacy may mean the left-wing billionaire “was buying the stake to exert influence on public opinion in the months leading up to the 2024 presidential election.” Between 2016 and 2020‚ Soros gave over $130 million to other media organizations in order to push his left-wing agenda. He has also given extensively to the International Fact-Checking Network‚ which coordinates censorship efforts between various left-wing outlets such as The Washington Post and Meta platforms (Facebook‚ Instagram‚ Threads and WhatsApp). MRC Vice President for Free Speech America Dan Schneider cautioned that FCC commissioners sympathetic to Soros’ agenda might try to disregard the law to fast-track the Audacy acquisition.  Schneider warned: “Right now‚ the Democrats on the Commission are trying to grease the skids to allow George Soros and his son Alex to buy skads of radio stations all across America…right before the election. I don’t think that’s coincidental.”  Conservatives are under attack. Contact your representatives and demand that Big Tech be held to account to mirror the First Amendment while providing transparency‚ clarity on so-called “hate speech” and equal footing for conservatives. Nation's largest Christian college fights back after Biden's education secretary vows to target the school: 'Shut them down'

Grand Canyon University‚ the world's largest Christian college‚ is fighting back after Education Secretary Miguel Cardona vowed to target the school. At a House Appropriations Committee hearing this month‚ GCU became a topic of discussion when Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) asked Cardona how his agency is tackling &;quot;predatory for-profit colleges.&;quot; In his response‚ Cardona didn't reference GCU specifically‚ but he did allude to the school.Cardona told DeLauro the Education Department is &;quot;going after predatory schools‚&;quot; which he claimed &;quot;have a shiny brochure and a great commercial‚ but the product is not worth the paper it's written on.&;quot; Cardona promised to &;quot;crack down&;quot; on such schools‚ invoking an example of how his agency has already done so: fining GCU nearly $38 million last year.&;quot; We are cracking down on them‚ not only to shut them down‚ but to send a message across the country that you cannot prey on our students and expect to be successful‚&;quot; Cardona explained. Last year‚ the Department of Education fined GCU $37.7 million‚ claiming an investigation found that &;quot;GCU lied to more than 7‚500 former and current students about the cost of its doctoral programs over several years.&;quot;&;quot;GCU falsely advertised a lower cost than what 98% of students ended up paying to complete certain doctoral programs‚&;quot; the agency claimed.GCU has denied the claims are true and is refusing to pay the fine. Now‚ GCU is forcefully pushing back against Cardona's latest comments.&;quot;Mr. Cardona's inflammatory comments‚ which are legally and factually incorrect‚ are so reckless that GCU has no choice but to demand an immediate retraction‚&;quot; the school said in a statement. &;quot; He is either confused‚ misinformed‚ or does not understand the actions taken by his own agency.&;quot; The statement continued:There are no factually supportable allegations that warrant an attempt to shut down GCU and‚ in fact‚ ED has already granted a three-year extension of GCU’s provisional program participation agreement that allows it to continue to receive Title IV financial aid dollars. Those Title IV funds go directly to students‚ who can use them at whatever institution they choose. More are choosing GCU than any other university in the U.S.‚ which does not happen if you are deceiving a small number of students as ED claims. Moreover‚ GCU says school officials have asked the Education Department for evidence to prove its claims that GCU has lied to or preyed on students. But the agency hasn't provided such evidence.&;quot; As Mr. Cardona’s comments confirm‚ those opinions reflect a deeply held bias against GCU‚ which has manifested itself in his Department’s selective and punitive enforcement actions against the university‚&;quot; GCU said.School officials said they are prepared to take their fight with the government all the way to the Supreme Court.&;quot;[The Education Department's] conduct related to GCU goes well beyond normal regulatory activity. It epitomizes the weaponization of federal agencies’ power against a private Christian university‚&;quot; the school said. &;quot; To borrow a term ED uses liberally to describe every for-profit institution it is trying to harm‚ the comments by Mr. Cardona and actions taken by his Department are predatory in nature and designed to achieve their own ideological agenda.&;quot;Currently‚ GCU enrolls more than 118‚000 students in residence and online programs.Like Blaze News&;#63; Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. New ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ film is already digging its own grave

Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow is on the list of top 100 movie characters of all time for good reason – his character is quirky‚ witty‚ and stunningly charismatic. He’s a huge reason the franchise has grossed more than $4.5 billion worldwide. Removing Captain Jack from the film series would just be ... well‚ a death sentence. But Disney‚ which owns the franchise‚ seems to be a big fan of death sentences these days. Its woke agenda has cost the entertainment conglomerate literally billions of dollars. But clearly massive profit loss is not going to deter Disney from shoving its progressive narrative down the throats of its waning audience. In what is certain to be another cinematic disaster‚ Disney has decided to replace Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow with a black female version in the franchise’s sixth film‚ which is reported to come out in 2025. To make matters worse‚ producer Jerry Bruckheimer said the film will not be a new storyline but rather “a reboot‚” meaning that Jack Sparrow is indeed being replaced. Lauren Chen calls the move “a huge mistake.” And she’s not the only one who feels this way. According to an article from Express titled “Pirates of the Caribbean 6 without Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow ‘doomed to failure‚”’ “Fan hearts sank as deep as Davy Jones’ locker following rumors that Disney is planning on Pirates 6 having a black female lead rather than Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow at the helm of the Black Pearl.” “Without [Sparrow]‚ what is the draw&;#63;” asks Lauren. “It doesn’t really seem like there is one at all honestly.” Although nothing is certain as of now‚ according to unofficial online reports‚ Ayo Edebiri from “The Bear” is rumored to play Sparrow’s feminized replacement. “I'm not necessarily against the idea of a reboot‚” says Lauren‚ but “a diverse female lead&;#63; No‚ I'm sorry.” “Disney clearly has not learned their lesson here. They didn't learn it with ‘Star Wars‚’ they didn't learn it with ‘Indiana Jones‚’ and if they move forward with this iteration of the project‚ they're going to find themselves once more losing millions and millions of dollars.” To hear more predictions for the upcoming “Pirates of the Caribbean‚” watch the clip below. Utah school district in 'furry' controversy issues new statement promising to take all allegations of harassment 'very seriously'

The Utah school district enmeshed in a controversy surrounding student &;quot;furries&;quot; — people who identify as animals‚ wear animal-like apparel‚ and mimic animal behaviors — has now slightly changed its stance from just a few days ago. Though it denied the existence of furries as recently as Thursday‚ it now claims to take all allegations of &;quot;harassment in our schools&;quot; — likely including harassment from furries — &;quot;very seriously.&;quot; As Blaze News previously reported‚ dozens of students and their parents staged a protest against the furries last Wednesday at Mt. Nebo Middle School in Payson‚ Utah‚ about an hour south of Salt Lake City. Students reported that furries had barked at them‚ chewed on sticks in class‚ played fetch in the halls‚ and even bit classmates who invaded their territory or sprayed them with air freshener.Blaze News was able to provide several exclusive photos and videos supporting at least some of the claims about a furry problem. Those photos and videos appear to show students wearing animal masks and other animal-related paraphernalia‚ crawling about on all fours‚ and even bragging about spraying people in the face with chemicals. pic.twitter.com/fPvmjPTOdr— Cortney Weil 🇺🇲 (@cortneyweil) April 19‚ 2024 Despite this evidence‚ which was readily available‚ Nebo School District repeatedly denied the existence of a problem. &;quot; There have been no incidents of biting‚ licking‚ costumes‚ or animal behavior at Mt. Nebo Middle School. These rumors are unfounded and are not occurring in our schools‚&;quot; district representative Seth Sorenson wrote to Blaze News. The Salt Lake Tribune also published an article‚ more or less parroting district talking points about the furry allegations under the pretense of a fact check. &;quot;Fact check: Nebo School District responds to claims about student protest over 'furries‚'&;quot; read the headline from Tribune education reporter Michael Lee on Wednesday evening‚ the same day as the protest. The article makes no mention of speaking with any students or parents who made furry allegations.By Saturday‚ the district had sent Blaze News an amended statement that tacitly acknowledged the furry problem. Without referencing furries once by name or the disruptive behaviors in which they have allegedly engaged‚ the new statement denounced all instances of &;quot;any type of harassment in our schools.&;quot; The new statement from Seth Sorenson is long and discusses multiple subjects‚ so we will share the two paragraphs germane to the furry topic alone. Particular sentences that ostensibly reference the furries have been placed in bold:We are again going to reiterate that we do not tolerate any type of harassment in our schools and take this very seriously. Administration had never told students that it is acceptable for any student‚ regardless of who they are‚ to be allowed to harass or injure other students. We take any and all harassment very seriously and investigate all allegations of these behaviors thoroughly. Our top priority is the safety and security of all students and creating an environment where they all feel safe and secure. Our administration would never allow any group of students to target and harass other students without intervention and consequences. We again encourage students that have experienced harassment or bullying to speak with administration so it can be addressed. We take the education of these young 11 and 12 year old children at Mt. Nebo Middle School Very seriously. The teachers‚ staff and administration are all focused on creating an environment where students can learn‚ and foster a lifelong love of educating and improving themselves. Blaze News reached out to the Salt Lake Tribune to see whether the outlet intended to update its reporting in light of the district's new stance on alleged harassment at Mt. Nebo Middle School. We did not receive a response from Lee‚ senior managing editor Sheila McCann‚ or executive editor Lauren Gustus.Like Blaze News&;#63; Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Columbia bars Jewish‚ pro-Israel professor from campus where pro-Hamas students have taken over — cancels in-person classes

Columbia University has reportedly barred an Israel-born‚ Jewish professor from entering the Ivy League’s main campus‚ where pro-Hamas students have taken over‚ the New York Post reported.Shai Davidai‚ an assistant professor at Columbia Business School‚ has been an outspoken supporter of Israel and called for “a PEACEFUL sit in at Columbia’s declared ‘Liberation Zone’” on Monday morning amid the ongoing protests at the New York university.Anti-Israel students set up an encampment on the lawn at the center of campus‚ where they have erected Palestinian flags and draped their tents with protest signs. According to the New York Times‚ the area is being referred to by some as the “Gaza Solidarity Encampment.”When Davidai arrived on campus Monday morning to hold the scheduled peaceful counterprotest‚ he discovered that his school identification card had been deactivated. In a video posted to social media‚ Davidai shouted to fellow pro-Israel students‚ “I have not just a civil right‚ a civil right as a Jewish person to be on campus‚ I have a right as a professor employed by the university to be on campus.”“They deactivated my card‚” he added. “They are not letting me on main campus.” As of last October Davidai was apparently not tenured‚ so I\u2019m unclear how many legal protections he has‚ but Columbia going back to kid-glove treatment of students occupying their campus and then firing a Jewish professor by deactivating his ID badge seems like bad optics to me — (@) Davidai pointed out the “irony” that his card still grants him access to Columbia’s Manhattanville campus‚ where he teaches.“I was just told by [administrators] that I am [to be] let on the campus of the business school where I’m teaching tomorrow‚” the Post reported. “So they are willing to use Jewish brains‚ but they don’t want to let Jewish people in.”In a post on X‚ Davidai explained that Columbia claimed it deactivated his card because it could not ensure his safety on the main campus‚ given the ongoing protests. Earlier today‚ @Columbia University refused to let me onto campus. \n\nWhy&;#63; Because they cannot protect my safety as a Jewish professor. \n\nThis is 1938. — (@) He slammed the university for continuing to protect the pro-Hamas protesters whom it has allowed to take over the campus.“We know whose safety they can ensure — for the past five days‚ they’ve been ensuring the safety of the students who are calling on Hamas‚ to target Jewish students. That’s the safety that they are ensuring‚” Davidai said.He urged Jewish and pro-Israel students to be cautious around the protesters and called on them to take videos of the encampment. “If they don’t let you in‚ and then document the fact that they’re not letting other Jewish people into campus‚” he stated.Columbia President Minouche Shafik testified before the House earlier this week. She told lawmakers that there have been several complaints about Davidai and that the university has launched an investigation into the professor.Davidai has called for Shafik’s firing‚ as well as “everyone in the antisemitism task force at Columbia to resign right now.”Last week‚ pro-Palestinian students took over campus and refused to leave until the university met a list of demands‚ which included removing funding from companies with ties to Israel‚ the Times reported. Shafik called the police to remove the protesters; more than 100 arrests were made. On Monday‚ the university announced that it would cancel in-person classes and switch to remote learning due to the unrest.“I am deeply saddened by what is happening on our campus. Our bonds as a community have been severely tested in ways that will take a great deal of time and effort to reaffirm. Students across an array of communities have conveyed fears for their safety and we have announced additional actions we are taking to address security concerns‚” Shafik wrote in a Monday statement. She claimed that the school needs “a reset” due to increased tensions that “have been exploited and amplified by individuals who are not affiliated with Columbia who have come to campus to pursue their own agendas.”“To deescalate the rancor and give us all a chance to consider next steps‚ I am announcing that all classes will be held virtually on Monday. Faculty and staff who can work remotely should do so‚” she added. “Our preference is that students who do not live on campus will not come to campus.”“I know that there is much debate about whether or not we should use the police on campus‚ and I am happy to engage in those discussions‚” Shafik continued. “Over the past days‚ there have been too many examples of intimidating and harassing behavior on our campus. Antisemitic language‚ like any other language that is used to hurt and frighten people‚ is unacceptable and appropriate action will be taken. We urge those affected to report these incidents through university channels.”Additional encampments sprouted up at Yale‚ the University of Michigan‚ and MIT to support the protesters arrested at Columbia.Like Blaze News&;#63; Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. UCLA School of Medicine's radical DEI czar clumsily plagiarized vast portions of her dissertation on DEI: Report

Harvard is not the only woke university whose top race obsessives are unrepentant plagiarists. The University of California's David Geffen School of Medicine apparently also has at least one identitarian hack on staff earning hundreds of thousands of dollars annually at taxpayers' expense thanks in part to stolen scholarship. Manhattan Institute fellow Christopher Rufo and Luke Rosiak of the Daily Wire have revealed in a damning new report that the medical school's DEI czar plagiarized a significant portion of her dissertation on DEI. What little of the publication Natalie Perry ostensibly wrote on her own was largely spoiled by error and incoherence. UCLA Med School has been in the news recently for promoting ideology about &;quot;Indigenous womxn‚&;quot; &;quot;two-spirits‚&;quot; and &;quot;structural racism.&;quot; A guest speaker praised and two residents championed &;quot;revolutionary suicide.&;quot; \n\nThe DEI director‚ who advances &;quot;anti-racism‚&;quot; is Natalie Perry. — (@) Perry‚ formerly an associate dean for academic programs at the American International College's School of Education in Springfield‚ Massachusetts‚ presently serves as the DGSOM's so-called &;quot;Cultural North Star Lead.&;quot; The Cultural North Star initiative is the product of a 2017 culture audit conducted by the Dean's Office‚ serving to advance the cause of DEI at the school. Perry's biographic statement on the school's website references her 2014 doctoral dissertation‚ &;quot;Faculty Perceptions of Diversity at a Highly Selective Research-Intensive University‚&;quot; noting that her &;quot;wealth of experience in understanding and improving the culture of higher education‚ including at an academic health system‚ will be invaluable to our ongoing efforts to embed our aspirational Cultural North Stars [sic] value in our organizational DNA.&;quot; It turns out that others may instead deserve credit for the &;quot;wealth of experience in understanding&;quot; Perry has submitted as her own. Rosiak noted on X that Perry‚ &;quot;the DEI czar at UCLA School of Medicine‚ which blamed opiates on 'whiteness‚' had doctors praise 'revolutionary suicide‚' taught about 'two-spirits‚' and led a class in chanting 'Free Palestine‚'&;quot; is responsible for the &;quot;most egregious case of plagiarism&;quot; he and Rufo have so far encountered. — (@) According to Rosiak‚ Perry's wealth of published knowledge‚ reducible to a single paper‚ &;quot;stole thousands of words from 10 other papers.&;quot; In one instance‚ the DEI czar ostensibly directly copied five continuous pages of material from someone else's work. Perry apparently wasn't even stealthy when stealing other people's ideas‚ having lifted the first pages of her dissertation from the first page of other published works‚ including more than 100 words from the first page of a paper by Angela Locks‚ Sylvia Hurtado‚ Nicholas Bowman‚ and Leticia Oseguera. In addition to sometimes porting over the exact text formatting from the works she was plagiarizing‚ Perry apparently also copied the parenthetical citations from uncredited authors without even factoring their source material into her final list of references. Perry was so lazy that the first pages of her paper stole from the first page of multiple other papers. Here's a passage taken from a paper by Adalberto Aguirre Jr. and Ruben Martinez‚ who were never mentioned anywhere in Perry's paper. — (@) The only significant alterations Perry appears to have made to the elements she lifted from other writers were errors. Rosiak noted‚ for instance‚ that when plagiarizing a paper from John C. Smart‚ the DEI czar &;quot;changed a few words‚ and added errors almost every time (e.g. changing Smart's 'distinguishes between X and Y' to 'distinguish between X from Y').&;quot; Perry seems virtually unable to write a single word without error. Here‚ she stole from John Smart‚ changed a few words‚ and added errors almost every time (e.g. changing Smart's &;quot;distinguishes between X and Y&;quot; to &;quot;distinguish between X from Y&;quot;). — (@) The medical school's future Cultural North Star lead was afforded a chance to shine in a section in her dissertation devoted to original research. However‚ she instead cobbled together a few half-baked sentences containing spelling and grammatical errors. &;quot; The positionality of the participants informed the perspective on the origins of the commission. /in response to the needs of the varios [sic] stakeholders within the university‚ the commission addressed issues of diversity on the faculty‚ undergraduate‚ graduate‚ and university level‚&;quot; she wrote in the ostensibly original section. The Daily Wire indicated that neither the university nor Perry returned requests for comment. Perry is the latest and perhaps the most brazen among the university professionals recently outed for passing off other people's work as their own. Christina Ross‚ a race obsessive and assistant sociology professor at Harvard University‚ was accused last month of various form of plagiarism‚ including &;quot;verbatim plagiarism‚ mosaic plagiarism‚ uncited paraphrasing‚ and uncited quotations from other sources.&;quot; Harvard Extension School administrator Shirley R. Greene was accused in February of 42 instances of plagiarism — just in her 2008 University of Michigan dissertation. In January‚ Claudine Gay resigned her post as Harvard's 30th president in disgrace after nearly 50 plagiarism complaints had been filed against her‚ implicating nearly half of her published works‚ including her doctoral thesis. That same month‚ affirmative action expert Sherri Ann Charleston‚ the university's chief DEI officer‚ was slapped with a complaint identifying 40 examples of alleged plagiarism in two of her academic works. Rufo and Rosiak reported earlier this month that Lisa D. Cook‚ a tenured professor at Michigan State University who was successfully nominated to the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in 2022‚ was also guilty of academic dishonesty‚ having based her most celebrated article on flawed data and misled about the quality of one of her other publications. 'Trump is desperate': Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder says new song is about Trump's election denial — claims Trump gave people PTSD

Pearl Jam front man Eddie Vedder explained the meaning behind the band's politically-themed song off their album &;quot;Dark Matter.&;quot; The song titled &;quot;Wreckage&;quot; is purportedly about Donald Trump‚ Vedder told the Times‚ calling the former president and candidate &;quot;desperate to win&;quot; and only looking to avoid imprisonment.&;quot; There is a guy in the United States who is still saying he didn’t lose an election‚&;quot; he told the British outlet. &;quot; And people are reverberating and amplifying that message as if it is true.&;quot;&;quot;Trump is desperate. I don’t think there has ever been a candidate more desperate to win‚ just to keep himself out of prison and to avoid bankruptcy. It is all on the line‚ and he’s out there playing the victim — at least they’re doing this to me‚ because if not they would be doing it to you — but you haven’t falsified your tax records‚&;quot; he continued. Some of the song's lyrics allude to Trump not willing to admit that he is wrong so long as he wins by any means‚ leaving nothing left in his path:Oh‚ visited by thoughts and not just in the nightThat I no longer give a f***who is wrong and who's rightThis game of winner takes all and all means nothing leftSpoils go the victor and the other left for deadUh-huh‚ combing through the wreckageHolding out‚ holding onCombing through the wreckage&;quot; You don’t have classified information in your basement. So the song is saying‚ let’s not be driven apart by one person‚ especially not a person without any worthy causes‚&;quot; Vedder went on.Prompted with the possibility that Trump's time in the spotlight is waning‚ the singer said that he felt if a person doesn't have some sort of mental qualms with 45th president‚ they may not be a &;quot;thoughtful&;quot; person.&;quot;I can’t wait‚&;quot; Vedder said in response to the end of the Trump era. &;quot; Most thoughtful people are going through a bit of PTSD about it now‚ so maybe you’re right.&;quot; The 59-year-old concluded by waxing poetically about art being the truest expression of one's personality.&;quot;I knew I wanted to express myself in music‚ whether anyone heard it or not ... you think‚ if someone were to hear this‚ maybe they would know me better. Maybe that is the power of any art form‚ actually: to get to know someone.&;quot; The April 19‚ 2024‚ release is Pearl Jam's twelfth studio album. The band has sold over 25 million albums worldwide since their 1991 debut &;quot;Ten‚&;quot; which went diamond (13 times platinum).Like Blaze News&;#63; Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox.
