The Michigan Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected an effort to remove Donald Trump from the state’s primary ballot under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. In a 3-0 opinion that cited Michigan law‚ the appellate court said: “Who to place on the primary ballot is determined by the political parties and the individual candidates.” Courts in Arizona and Minnesota have also ruled against similar efforts to get Trump kicked off the ballot. The Minnesota Supreme Court last month dismissed a petition by a group of voters to ban Trump from the 2024 GOP primary and general election ballots‚ saying Minnesota law did not bar major parties from putting even ineligible candidates on the primary ballot. The Michigan Supreme Court’s order Wednesday contrasts with the Colorado Supreme Court’s first-of-its-kind decision last week barring Trump’s candidacy in the state’s primary next year on constitutional grounds. “A majority of the court holds that President Trump is disqualified from holding the office of President under Section Three of the Fourteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution‚” the Colorado ruling said. “Because he is disqualified‚ it would be a wrongful act under the Election Code for the Colorado Secretary of State to list him as a candidate on the presidential primary ballot.” “The Michigan Supreme Court has strongly and rightfully denied the Desperate Democrat attempt to take the leading Candidate in the 2024 Presidential Election‚ me‚ off the ballot in the Great State of Michigan. Around 20% of young Americans view Osama Bin Laden — the mastermind behind the deadliest terrorist attack in U.S. history — in a positive light‚ according to a new Daily Mail poll.  The poll‚ which surveyed voters between 18 and 29 years old‚ also found that around 30% of the young Americans believe the views that guided Bin Laden were a “force for good‚” The Daily Mail reported. Bin Laden was killed by U.S. Navy Seals in May of 2011 after a decade-long manhunt for the radical Islamic terrorist. The al-Qaeda leader orchestrated the September 11‚ 2001‚ terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington‚ D.C.‚ which killed nearly 3‚000 Americans.  Of the 18-29-year-olds surveyed in the poll‚ 8% said they had a “completely positive” view of Bin Laden while another 12% said they had a “somewhat positive” view of the infamous terrorist. Among those who viewed Bin Laden positively‚ 8% said both his “views and actions” were good‚ and 23% said his views were good but his actions were bad‚ according to the Mail. Eighty-one percent of those polled overall held a negative view of Bin Laden. The Daily Mail poll results come a month after viral TikTok videos showed young Americans discussing Bin Laden’s “Letter to America” and sympathizing with the al-Qaeda leader after reading it. The letter outlines Bin Laden’s justification for the 9/11 terrorist attack on U.S. soil.  Terry Strada‚ whose husband died in the North Tower on 9/11‚ told the Mail that the poll results are a “horrifying” and “disturbing” sign that terrorism is being “normalized” in the U.S.  “What is wrong with our youth? How do they not realize the horrors of terrorism?” Strada asked. “This is a dangerous and slippery slope to go down.”  Another American who lost a loved one on 9/11 blamed the U.S. government’s lack of transparency about Saudi involvement in the terror attack for the rise in young Americans’ sympathies for Bin Laden.  “We have never been told the full story or truth about what happened to us on 9/11‚” said Brett Eagleson‚ whose father perished in the South Tower. “So it’s no wonder why today’s youth and adolescents have taken such extremist views supporting the evil that visited us that day. While most Muslim Americans defended Hamas’ actions on October 7‚ 75% of all Americans condemned Hamas for attacking Israel and murdering around 1‚200 people.

The Michigan Supreme Court refused a liberal group’s effort to remove Donald Trump from the 2024 presidential primary ballot on Wednesday‚ roughly a week after Colorado’s high court ruled against the former president in a similar case. A brief order said the Michigan justices “are not persuaded that the questions presented should be reviewed by this Court‚” rejecting the challenge from Free Speech For The People that seeks to disqualify Trump based on the view that he engaged in an insurrection on January 6‚ 2021. The application sought to challenge the Michigan Court of Appeals decision that left the issue of primary ballot access up to the Republican Party but declined to rule on whether Trump is qualified to be on the general election ballot because he has not won the GOP nomination. One of the Michigan Supreme Court justices‚ Elizabeth Welch‚ wrote in an opinion that the lower-court ruling “still allows appellants to renew their legal efforts as to the Michigan general election later in 2024 should Trump become the Republican nominee for President of the United States or seek such office as an independent candidate.” Free Speech For The People‚ the left-wing organization that brought the lawsuit with election lawyer Mark Brewer of Goodman Acker P.C. on behalf of a group of voters‚ signaled that it will not back down in its legal endeavors to remove Trump from the ballot in Michigan and in other states. The efforts hinge on Section 3 of the 14th Amendment‚ which has been widely interpreted as an effort to block former officials who joined the Confederacy from returning to public office after the Civil War. “The decision isn’t binding on any court outside Michigan and we continue our current and planned legal actions in other states to enforce Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment against Donald Trump‚” said Free Speech For People legal director Ron Fein.
