CBS News Is Now Relaying Hamas’ Hostage Offers

CBS News Is Now Relaying Hamas’ Hostage Offers

Once again‚ CBS News blurs the line between reporting and advocacy for Hamas-adjacent positions. And tonight‚ it veered into spokespersonship. Watch as CBS correspondent Lilia Luciano helpfully conveys Hamas’ offer in exchange for the remaining hostages taken captive during the barbaric October 7th terrorist attack:  NORAH O’DONNELL: CBS's Lilia Luciano will start us off tonight with all of the new developments from Tel Aviv. Good evening‚ Lilia.  LILIA LUCIANO: Good evening to you Norah. And just moments ago‚ we saw Secretary of State Antony Blinken's motorcade arrive here in Tel Aviv‚ all part of the U.S.'s efforts to extend that ceasefire‚ to increase aid to Gaza and‚ of course‚ to free all the hostages. And tonight‚ a leader from Hamas telling CBS news that they are willing to release every hostage‚ that includes men and soldiers‚ in exchange for every Palestinian prisoner.  The last time we saw Luciano‚ she was mischaracterizing violent pro-Palestine campus protests where Jews were threatened as “vigorous debate”. Now she’s on the ground in Israel‚ conveying Hamas’ offer. What‚ exactly‚ is Hamas’ offer? What do they mean by “every Palestinian prisoner”? We don’t know because she segued right into her video package. And here‚ again‚ while mentioning the two kids shot during the IDF counter terror raid in Jenin (West Bank)‚ Luciano made certain that viewers knew who the true aggressor is: And today‚ it was clear again that a temporary truce does not mean safety for Palestinian children. There is no context or details that could provide insight into the shooting‚ or what happened beforehand. There is only the suggestion that‚ despite the ceasefire‚ Israel will continue to find a way to kill Palestinian children. Instead of serious journalism‚ CBS viewers get journalisming that dangerously borders on terror advocacy.  Click “Expand” to view the full transcript of the aforementioned report as aired on CBS Evening News on Wednesday‚ November 29th‚ 2023: NORAH O’DONNELL: CBS's Lilia Luciano will start us off tonight with all of the new developments from Tel Aviv. The sixth wave of hostages released included the first time an American woman‚ Liat Beinin‚ was freed from captivity. But for her father Yehuda‚ the joy is incomplete. Her sister Tal flew from Portland‚ Oregon‚ for the reunion.  What's in your mind‚ what’s in your heart today? Right now?  TAL BEININ: I'm just very grateful to be here with my family right now. I think that’s the most important thing to me right now. And I am going to feed off of that energy.  YEHUDA BEININ: I need to point out that her husband‚ Aviv‚ is still captured in Gaza. And getting him out of Gaza is a more complex issue than getting women and children out.  LUCIANO: And tonight‚ they heard from the president.  PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN: I talked with her mother and father. They are very appreciative and things are moving well. She will soon be home with her three children.  Reporter: Raaya Rotem and her daughter‚ Hila‚ separated in captivity just before the 13-year-olds release Saturday‚ are expected to be together again tonight. The fate of eight more American hostages hangs in the balance. And tonight‚ a devastating blow to all who awaited news on the release of the Bibas family. Hamas claims 10-month-old Kfir‚ his 4-year-old brother Ariel‚ and their mother Shiri‚ were all killed in an Israeli strike in Gaza. A Hamas leader tells CBS news they are willing to provide evidence. The IDF briefed the Bibas family and said they are investigating those claims. Relatives said in a statement‚ “we are waiting for the information to be confirmed and hopefully refuted by military officials”.  And today‚ it was clear again that a temporary truce does not mean safety for Palestinian children. [Gunfire] And in the West Bank today‚ shocking video emerged showing the shooting of an 8-year-old‚ 1 of 2 children‚ the other 15‚ that the Palestinian Ministry of Health alleges were killed by IDF soldiers. We’ve reached out to the IDF but have not heard back. And today‚ the U.S. Special Envoy for Hostage Affairs joined the director of the CIA in the region in those efforts to extend the temporary truce‚ which is still set to end at 7:00 A.M. Local time‚ which means that they have less than five and a half hours to do so. Urgent. Norah. O’DONNELL: A critical moment. Lilia Luciano‚ thank you.

NewsBusters Podcast: Is George Santos 'the Gift That Keeps On Giving'?

The Democrats and their media allies are all abuzz at the possibility that they’ll reduce the tiny Republican majority in the House of Representatives by one. The House may vote to expel freshman Republican Rep. George Santos of New York. They love promoting this guy to make the GOP look bad. The late-night "comedians" recently offered 72 jokes about Santos‚ compared to only 45 about President Biden (and two for Sen. Bob "Gold Bars" Menendez.) CBS Evening News was the only network show on Tuesday night that reported on the potential purge of Congressman Santos. Reporter Scott McFarlane also added a brief note on how Hunter Biden suddenly wants to testify publicly before the House Oversight Committee. The Comer committee sent a subpoena to Hunter to meet for a deposition in private‚ but Hunter wants a public spectacle. That would be good for us -- in terms of studying how the media would cover or not cover it‚ live or not live. But Republicans must have a reason for their approach. On ABC‚ late-night comedian Jimmy Kimmel claimed the Republicans "don't want it on TV. They're like‚ ‘If we don’t do this behind closed doors‚ how are we supposed to make stuff up?'" Republicans didn't make up the laptop‚ and the Democrats made up the story that it was disinformation from the Russians. Like a good Democrat‚ Kimmel claimed "Even though we've seen no evidence‚ and they've seen no evidence‚ that Joe Biden had anything to do with this..." The laptop establishes in emails and photographs that Joe Biden appeared repeatedly to meet his son's lobbying clients.  Nevertheless‚ MSNBC's morning host Joe Scarborough mocked Chairman Comer on the same "no evidence" spin‚ but added the hillbilly routine: "Well‚ we ain't really got nothin' but a squirrel fryer and a hound dog." Scarborough has said the Arnold the Pig character from Green Acres could do a better job than Comer.  On the PBS NewsHour‚ they asked NPR White House correspondent Tamara Keith to analyze why President Biden isn't getting any credit for his "economic accomplishments." There's no space for Republican rebuttal‚ just space for Keith to repeat the talking points she's getting at the White House. Enjoy the podcast below‚ or wherever you  listen to podcasts.

PROPAGANDA AT THE PUMP: NBC Hypes Gas Prices As Inflation Relief

PROPAGANDA AT THE PUMP: NBC Hypes Gas Prices As Inflation Relief

The pro-Biden media is doing its level best to mitigate the effects of inflation on the everyday finances of the American public: case in point‚ this weird report on the national gas price average. Watch as anchor Lester Holt cheerfully frames today’s national gas price average as inflation relief: LESTER HOLT: If you're looking for a break from inflation you may not have to search any farther than the gas pump where millions of Americans are now paying $3 or less a gallon. Here's Tom Costello.  TOM COSTELLO: From the Lone Star State‚ to highways across the country‚ finally some inflation relief at the gas pump.  CITIZEN: A lot better than last year.  The report went all over the place‚ from gas prices to oil production‚ to electric cars back to gas prices. But the thing about average prices is that they are an average. In some metropolitan areas‚ gas prices remain high. In others‚ such as in major metros in Florida and in Texas‚ gas prices are actually spiking (.30/gallon after the holiday! Ouch!). God forbid‚ what happens to gas prices if OPEC cuts production or if the Biden administration’s deal with the Maduro dictatorship in Venezuela lapses due to noncompliance? Does NBC issue a correction for pretending that commodity speculation is news?  More than anything‚ the report comes off as “Bidenomics” propaganda without that word‚ which journos openly lament “isn’t working”‚ ever being uttered. Also unsaid: the reason gas prices got so high in the first place. Rhymes with Schmidenomics. Click “Expand” to view the full transcript of the aforementioned report as aired on NBC Nightly News on Wednesday‚ November 29th‚ 2023: LESTER HOLT: If you're looking for a break from inflation you may not have to search any farther than the gas pump where millions of Americans are now paying $3 or less a gallon. Here's Tom Costello.  TOM COSTELLO: From the Lone Star State‚ to highways across the country‚ finally some inflation relief at the gas pump.  CITIZEN: A lot better than last year.  COSTELLO: It's all about supply and demand. Demand usually falls during colder months when people stay home‚ and right now there's plenty of supply‚ with the U.S. making up 80% of the global increase.  PATRICK DE HAAN: The U.S. Retains the crown of the world's largest oil producer. Oil production in the U.S. is back at record-setting levels.  COSTELLO: On the global market‚ oil is now selling for $77 a barrel‚ down from $123 in June of last year. At the pump‚ gas has dropped to $3.22 a gallon nationally‚ 28 cents cheaper than last year. 16 states are now paying $3 or less. 25‚000 gas stations at 2.75 or less‚ though‚ higher taxes means gas can be $2 more expensive out west. Still‚ cheaper gas is one reason why car dealers report electric vehicle sales have fallen sharply. In Wisconsin Kunes Automotive owns 44 dealerships across the region.  SCOTT KUNES: We've definitely seen a slowdown in electric vehicle sales across the Midwest‚ and we’re actually seeing a lot of defectors from electric vehicles as they move back towards a ICE (internal combustion engine) or hybrid vehicle.  COSTELLO: A top customer concern: driving long distances and finding charging stations. Where gas prices go from here could depend on whether OPEC cuts production this week. OPEC doesn't have the influence it once did‚ but it could determine whether America’s national average falls below $3 by Christmas.

Woman in critical condition after being dragged across Costco parking lot by purse snatchers‚ California police say

A woman wound up in critical condition at a hospital after she was dragged across a Costco parking lot when thieves grabbed her purse after a shopping trip‚ police say. The 37-year-old woman was putting away her groceries in the City of Industry on Sunday at about 6:45 p.m. when two men pulled up in an SUV‚ according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. One of the men jumped out and grabbed her purse‚ but she refused to let go. She said that he punched her numerous times. Deputy Miguel Meza told KNBC-TV that the woman was dragged between 40 and 50 feet from the suspect's car while trying to hold on to her purse. The woman suffered a facial fracture‚ abrasions‚ and lacerations to her scalp‚ but she is expected to survive. She said that she was with two friends but that none of them suspected she was going to be targeted by the thieves. Police said the incident happened in a spot of the parking lot with little light‚ so it is difficult to identify the men from surveillance video. The two men are believed to have broken into another car in the same parking lot‚ according to investigators. Police are asking for help from the public to identify the two suspects who were driving a dark-colored Infiniti QX60 SUV.“I hope there is a witness‚” the victim said to KTLA from her hospital bed. Brian DeSoto‚ a resident who lives nearby‚ said the neighborhood used to be nice but had become more dangerous in recent years. "If you are elderly or frail‚ you need to be cognizant of the potential problem that someone may be targeting you as a victim‚ especially if you’re wearing expensive jewelry if you’re driving an expensive car‚" said DeSoto. Here's a local news report about the incident: Costco purse snatching victim in critical condition after being dragged www.youtube.com Like Blaze News? Former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger dies at 100 years old

Former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger‚ who turned 100 years old earlier this year‚ passed away at his Connecticut residence on Wednesday‚ according to a Kissinger Associates‚ Inc. press release.Kissinger served as secretary of state during a portion of Republican President Richard Nixon's White House tenure and then under President Gerald Ford after Nixon resigned.Kissinger was born in Germany in 1923‚ but his Jewish family immigrated to the U.S. in 1938‚ according to history.state.gov‚ which noted that Kissinger's name‚ which had been Heinz‚ was switched to Henry. "During World War II‚ Kissinger became a naturalized citizen and served in the U.S. Army as a German interpreter‚" the government website notes."As a refugee from Nazi Germany‚ he had lost 13 family members and countless friends to the Holocaust. He returned to his native Germany as an American soldier‚ participating in the liberation of the Ahlem concentration camp near Hannover‚" Kissinger's son David wrote of his father in a Washington Post piece posted earlier this year. "He has an unquenchable curiosity that keeps him dynamically engaged with the world. His mind is a heat-seeking weapon that identifies and grapples with the existential challenges of the day. In the 1950s‚ the issue was the rise of nuclear weapons and their threat to humanity. About five years ago‚ as a promising young man of 95‚ my father became obsessed with the philosophical and practical implications of artificial intelligence‚" David Kissinger wrote.GOP Rep. Mike Waltz of Florida described Kissinger as "a patriot who lived a life of great consequence."Republican Rep. Greg Murphy of North Carolina described Kissinger as "a man of keen insight and sage advice; the gold standard for foreign policy."Like Blaze News? Monica Lewinsky advocates for additional constitutional amendments

Monica Lewinsky has written a piece advocating for several amendments to the U.S. Constitution. One of her suggestions is to scrap the Electoral College system that is used for electing the president. "The most fundamental underpinning of a democracy is the fact that those who govern are chosen through free and fair elections. Especially heads of state. The Electoral College ain't it‚" she claimed. She also supports age and term limits for elected leaders."Not to be ageist‚ but there should also be a retirement age for elected officials as well as term limits‚ especially when you consider that long-term decisions can impact the citizens‚ the nation‚ and the world for years after you've served your time in office‚" she wrote. She also pointed to polling that indicates strong public support for upper age limits for elected officials and Supreme Court justices.Lewinski also believes there should be security clearance checks for individuals to be eligible to hold office. "In my view‚ you should not be able to have your name on any presidential or US congressional ballot if you can't pass a rigorous security clearance‚" she noted.Lewinski declared that "presidents should not be able to pardon themselves" and suggested that pardons of relatives "should be subject to some sort of bipartisan congressional mechanism."She also advocated for "amendments such as the long-languishing Equal Rights Amendment‚ along with one that would reassert a woman's right to reproductive freedom.""The Constitution cannot be suspended. Full Stop. Even if the country is under martial law‚" she also wrote.Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!
