The 5 Actresses Who Made A Name For Themselves Starring In Christmas Movies

Actresses like Donna Reed and Rosemary Clooney immediately come to mind when one thinks of stars whose careers took off after their unforgettable roles in our favorite Christmas movies. But they aren’t the only ones as we take a look back at these leading ladies and more who can credit their big breaks in Hollywood to their roles in Holiday classics. For starters‚ let’s look at Reed — who’s best known for her role as Mary Hatch in the most wonderful Christmas movie of all time‚ Frank Capra’s 1946 “It’s A Wonderful Life‚” alongside Jimmy Stewart. The young actress got her start out of college when she landed a part on the big screen in “The Getaway” in 1941‚ MSN.com noted. She would go on to score numerous supporting roles before she got the part in Capra’s film at the age of 25 that would change everything. The role catapulted her career and in 1953 she scored her first Oscar for her part in the 1953 film “From Here to Eternity.” She later appeared in numerous movies before becoming very successful on the small screen‚ especially for her performances on her TV show “The Donna Reed Show‚” starting in 1958.  “Remember‚ George: no man is a failure who has friends.” It’s a Wonderful Life premiered at the Globe Theatre in New York 77 years ago today‚ on December 20‚ 1946 🙂 #otd https://t.co/XOjXEx3Q1x pic.twitter.com/MTyp4rXZsa — Classic Movie Hub (@ClassicMovieHub) December 20‚ 2023 Another Christmas queen would have to be Natalie Wood‚ who reminded us all to never stop believing in the magic of Santa Claus as Susan Walker in the 1947 “Miracle on 34th Street‚” alongside Maureen O’Hara. Wood — who was just eight years old when she got the part — had already appeared in two other movies prior to landing her most famous role. Following the holiday classic‚ she went on to receive numerous film offers and became a huge box office success‚ appearing in movies like “The Searchers” and “West Side Story‚” IMDb noted. Later in her career‚ she found success on the small screen and appeared in numerous made-for-TV movies and miniseries. She got her start in the music industry after winning a singing competition in her hometown of Cincinnati. At the age of 21‚ she moved to New York City and found success with her music. But at the age of 26‚ she took on the role of Betty Haynes in “White Christmas‚” alongside screen legends Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye. The movie is filled with numerous songs and dance numbers‚ with Clooney’s sultry voice being well showcased. Her performance in the holiday classic made the film a huge success and made Clooney a star on the big screen as well. Before Zoey Deschannel lit up the big screen in “Elf‚” she was just getting her foot in the door in the entertainment world. She had appeared in two other movies‚ but it wasn’t until she ended up scoring the unforgettable role of Jovie across from Will Ferrell in the 2003 holiday movie that her career really took off.  She’s since gone on to appear in numerous films and has found success on both the big and small screen. Rounding out our list is Candace Cameron Bure. While most people got to know the young actress for her role in the hit TV series “Full House‚” she really found success when she began appearing in Christmas movies on the Hallmark Channel‚ earning her the title of Queen of Christmas. During her time with the network‚ she appeared in a total of 10 Hallmark Christmas movies‚ with some of the most memorable ones being “Let It Snow” and “Christmas Under Wraps.” Her success at the network helped catapult her career‚ and in 2022‚ she left Hallmark to develop‚ produce‚ and star in faith-based stories for the up and coming Great American Family Network. Nobody’s Playing These! Special Drums Turn Rainfall Into Beautiful Music.

Just when we thought rainfall couldn’t get any more relaxing‚ we found out that rain drums exist‚ and now we wonder why everyone doesn’t own a set. We stumbled upon this special instrument while scrolling through TikTok recently. A user named Patrick Benson posted a video of its dream-like sounds. According to him‚ the “machine” is a mix of 17 separate drums that each represent a different culture. The drums have a series of copper pipes that keep a constant stream of water circling‚ the water drops from those pipes and hits the drum tops like rainfall. When that happens‚ a release valve is triggered and the music begins. The sounds are a mix of “contemporary and ethnic compositions” and rhythms that mimic the rainfall. Artist Dan Corson created the set highlighted on TikTok‚ and he explained that he was inspired to do so after visiting Bali and learning that there were drums that were specifically made to be played in the rain. He looked long and hard for a set‚ and when he couldn’t find one‚ he built his own version. If you want to hear these magical drums lend themselves to the rainfall‚ you can visit the Cedar River Watershed Education Center‚ which is located near Snoqualmie‚ WA. The center notes that visitors can only enjoy the music when it’s 36 degrees or warmer. If Washington is too far of a drive‚ you can have a listen below. @patrickolyn This is a drum machine with 17 drums representing different cultures. The copper pipes have release valves triggered by a midi signal creating programmed rhythms of contemporary and ethnic compositions as well as mimicking the rain at times. You can see and hear this at the Cedar River Watershed Education Center near Rattlesnake Lake outside of Snoqualmie‚ Washington. “Flying” Deer Spotted In The Sky… But They Aren’t Delivering Presents!

They may not work for Santa Claus‚ but these three deer can still fly! Well‚ ok‚ they may have had a little help from a helicopter. The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources recently posted a video to Facebook showing how they transport these animals for research purposes. After receiving GPS collars‚ the deer also get check-ups to make sure they’re healthy. “Each winter‚ our biologists capture and place GPS collars on approximately 1‚200 deer throughout the state‚” reads the caption. “They are also brought to a staging area where we perform health assessments before safely letting them go back into the wild. These important efforts help us monitor and learn about deer migration patterns.” Screengrab from Utah Division of Wildlife Resources/Facebook The clip demonstrates how these three “flying” deer are gently returned to solid ground at the end of their trip. There‚ experts are waiting to remove the safety gear so that the animals can go back to frolicking in the wild. Flying deer in December is still pretty festive‚ even if they’re not actually from the North Pole. However‚ there’s one deer who has probably had enough of Christmas. This poor creature got tangled up in someone’s string lights! Watch the video below to see real-life flying deer this holiday season. You can find the source of this story’s featured image here.
