The Status of Secretary Mayorkas’s Impeachment

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is forcing another vote on impeaching Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas this week — but some Republicans who voted against it last time plan to do so again‚ Axios reported. However‚ Greene got some good news from Speaker Johnson. The process will be different‚ but it will go through. Greene took to the […] The post The Status of Secretary Mayorkas’s Impeachment appeared first on www.independentsentinel.com.

VIDEO: Inside The Day-Long Terrorist Siege On Israel’s Sderot Police Station

A police officer in the Israeli border city of Sderot says it was just after six in the morning on October 7 when he was alerted that the city was under terrorist attack‚ and he rushed to begin a day-long firefight at the police station. “There was a big fight in here and gun shooting‚ and eight police officers died‚” Sderot municipal police officer‚ Elad Buadana‚ told The Daily Wire in front of where the police station once stood. “That’s what remains from the place I call home.” Sderot‚ a city of about 30‚000‚ is routinely the target of rocket fire from Gaza — the attacks are so common that there was once a shelf displaying dozens of rockets fired at the city’s civilian population. The police officer said he was in disbelief when he learned that terrorists were on foot attacking the city after his commander called him to fight. ISRAELI OFFICER RECOUNTS DAY-LONG FIREFIGHT WITH HAMAS FROM SITE OF LEVELED POLICE STATION “I took my gun‚ I reloaded‚ and I started to drive to the city‚” he said. “We saw a dead body on the sidewalk … we looked to the left and saw another one. It’s not something we are used to. We took care of the two bodies and then someone from the roof started shooting at us.” Buadana said he wanted to get to the police station to help his fellow officers inside who were begging for help on the radio‚ but was fired upon again. The police station appears to have been the main target of Hamas in Sderot‚ but terrorist documents obtained by The Daily Wire show that it had larger plans. A map outlining the plans for Hamas’ takeover of the city was recovered from a home attacked by terrorists by an Israeli volunteer‚ who shared it with The Daily Wire. It outlines Hamas intentions to take over several buildings in the city including the fire department. A Hamas map shared with The Daily Wire by a member of Zaka who recovered it from a home attacked by terrorists on the Gaza border. It details Hamas’s plan to attack the city of Sderot. Terrorists successfully took control of the police station‚ but the Israelis decided to destroy the entire station — killing the Hamas force and potentially ending any further plans it had for operations in the city. “They decided to destroy the police station because the chief commander said ‘enough blood‚ I don’t want any more police blood on the street‚’” Buadana recounted. “The decision to throw the police station over the head of the terrorists was a very hard decision.” Over 20 civilians‚ eight police officers‚ and 26 terrorists were killed near the police station‚ a spokesperson with the Israeli government confirmed to The Daily Wire. Buadana said he personally witnessed the IDF destroying the police station with a tank and helicopter with Hamas terrorists inside. Buadana said the police officers who escaped to the building’s roof were evacuated before the call was made to destroy the building‚ during the standoff which he said went on for 18 hours. “The tank was here … and the helicopter came from the back side and they shoot together on the police station‚” he said. “If you tell me to write down a script to a movie‚ I could not write a script like that‚ but when you see it in your eyes‚ it’s something.” The damaged police station in Sderot on Oct. 8 before it was bulldozed.(Photo by RONALDO SCHEMIDT/AFP via Getty Images) Many civilians in Sderot were shot at point-blank range by Hamas‚ including Dolev Swisa while attempting to flee from his car with his daughter. Amer Odeh Abu Sabila‚ a Bedouin construction worker heard the cries of Dolov’s wife‚ Odaya‚ and hopped in the driver’s seat to take the mother and her two daughters to safety. When the vehicle arrived at the police station being overrun by terrorists both he and Odaya were killed‚ a surveillance camera shows. The 6 and 3 year old daughters survived by laying on the floor of the car‚ according to The Times of Israel. In a separate incident‚ elderly passengers waiting for their bus to have a flat tire repaired were gunned down by Hamas terrorists. The son of Valeri Friedman‚ who was killed in the attack‚ told YNet News that the group included Holocaust survivors who were traveling to the Dead Sea for a day of leisure. Sderot municipal police officer‚ Elad Buadana‚ said he has still not processed the horrors he saw during the Oct. 7 massacre. Buadana said the sight of bodies in the street was too much for him to handle on the day of the attack‚ and that he still hasn’t processed what took place that day. “People are dying and I see their faces‚” he said. “I see people I know: the taxi driver‚ the man from the market‚ I know them.” “I don’t believe what I was seeing‚ so I say ‘please replace me‚ I cannot see that anymore‚” Buadana said‚ adding that he took a one hour break before returning to the site of the police station. Buadana said he occasionally visits his family in one of the hotels holding refugees from Sderot‚ but remains in the city to work. “I’m still in a war zone‚” he said. “I’m still working 18 hours a day‚ I don’t have the time to process it.” Police in Sderot‚ a city on the border of Gaza‚ have been collecting common goods — diapers‚ formula‚ canned food — to deliver to residents who are unable to flee. Sderot is one of the main targets of Palestinian rocket attacks Here's officer Elad Bohdana with @KassyDillon pic.twitter.com/DgMSrERmPL — Daily Wire (@realDailyWire) November 29‚ 2023 Residents are slowly coming back to the city‚ many of which request the police to walk through their homes to ensure there are no terrorists hiding before they arrive‚ according to Buadana. He said that one woman requested a video of her empty home from police to be reassured. Though the city is free of terrorists‚ Sderot has been under frequent rocket attacks prior to the ceasefire – a reality the city is equipped for with scattered shelters all over the city and in civilian homes. Residents in Sderot have been subject to rocketfire during other conflicts and have about 15-30 seconds to run for shelter. With many stores closed‚ the city stepped up by having police officers deliver goods needed by residents who are still in the city. Buadana said officers frequently deliver food‚ diapers‚ toilet paper and other products to anyone who requests them.

Journalist Calls Out Democrat Over Hunter Biden Laptop ‘Conspiracy Theory’ During Hearing

A witness testifying before Congress on Thursday accused a House Democrat of “engaging in a conspiracy theory” about the abandoned laptop believed to have belonged to Hunter Biden. The witness‚ journalist and author Michael Shellenberger‚ called out Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) during a Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government hearing on social media censorship while they discussed the New York Post breaking the Hunter Biden laptop story in the weeks before the 2020 election based on emails from a copy of a hard drive. “You are aware of the ‘laptop’‚ so to speak … that was published in the New York Post was actually a hard drive that the New York Post admitted here was not authenticated as real. It was not the laptop the FBI had‚” Goldman said‚ referring to his exchange with former New York Post reporter Emma-Jo Morris earlier this year. “You’re aware of that‚ right?” he added. Rep. @danielsgoldman on Hunter's laptop: Hard drives can be manipulated by Rudy Giuliani‚ or Russia" pic.twitter.com/vkWuwoSJLR — Tom Elliott (@tomselliott) November 30‚ 2023 “It was the same contents‚” Shellenberger replied. “How do you know?” Goldman asked. “You would have to authenticate it to know it was the same contents. You have no idea. You know hard drives can be manipulated‚” he added before Shellenberger could complete an answer. “Are you suggesting the New York Post participated in a conspiracy to construct the contents of the Hunter biden laptop?” Shellenberger shot back. “No‚ sir. Hard drives can be manipulated by Rudy Giuliani‚ or Russia‚” Goldman said‚ referring to the former New York City mayor who had been working as a personal lawyer for former President Donald Trump at the time of the laptop fiasco. When Shellenberger asked what evidence there was of manipulation‚ Goldman contended‚ “Well‚ there is actual evidence of it‚ but the point is it’s not the same thing.” Shellenberger retorted‚ “There’s no evidence for it‚ so you’re engaging in a conspiracy theory.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP Biden has said in the past that he did not know whether he was the owner of the laptop abandoned at a Delaware repair shop before it was seized by the FBI. His legal team has reportedly been looking for possible distorted or fabricated data linked to the first son and they recently sued Giuliani over the laptop. Yet over the past few years‚ many of the laptop’s contents — revealing details about Biden’s personal life and work — have been analyzed and shown to be authentic. In the hours that followed publication of the New York Post’s “smoking-gun” email story‚ Twitter temporarily blocked the report with details of Biden’s shady business dealings and his father’s possible ties to them from being shared‚ claiming the story violated its rule against sharing “hacked” materials. Facebook also took steps to limit the spread of the story‚ which came just weeks before Hunter’s father‚ Joe Biden‚ was elected president of the United States. Around this time‚ 51 former intelligence officials signed a letter that suggested the Hunter Biden laptop story had the “classic earmarks” of a Russian disinformation operation. A firestorm ensued when POLITICO published a headline that said the former intelligence officials were claiming the laptop story was “Russian disinfo” and then the elder Biden used the letter to cast doubt on it during a debate against Trump. While Democrats in Congress downplayed the social media clampdown on the story‚ Republicans raised concerns about there being a coordinated effort involving Big Tech and government agents to suppress damaging information about the Bidens in the run-up to the 2020 election — including when it came to the laptop. People who worked as executives at Twitter‚ which as since been rebranded to X‚ and Facebook later conceded that cracking down on the story was a mistake. Hunter Biden is now facing federal gun charges‚ to which he has pleaded not guilty‚ and tax counts may soon follow. House Republicans are looking into the Department of Justice’s handling of the criminal probe into Hunter Biden as part of an impeachment inquiry against President Biden.

Homeless Woman Accused Of Murdering Social Justice Activist In Hollywood Home: Police

A Hollywood social justice activist was killed on Monday after a homeless woman allegedly broke into his home and shot him in the head‚ according to reports. Michael Latt‚ 33‚ who founded the charity organization Lead With Love to support “influential women and artists of color‚” died from injuries at a local hospital after authorities reportedly discovered him in his $800‚000 one-bedroom apartment in the Mid-Wilshire neighborhood earlier this week. Latt’s next-door neighbor told local media she witnesses a female standing in the walkway with her hands up when police took the woman into custody. “It was really weird because I didn’t hear anything‚” Avarie Shevin said. “Like‚ no gunshot. No arguing‚ nothing‚ and it’s the kind of thing where if there’s a gunshot a mile away‚ I will hear it. So how did I not hear it right there?” “I can’t wrap my brain around what could’ve happened that caused him to be shot and killed‚” she told the station. “I keep picturing his face‚ and I cannot believe he has passed.” The Los Angeles Police Department identified the homicide suspect as 36-year-old Jameelah Elena Michl‚ who police said lived in her car. The Los Angeles District Attorney’s office filed charges of murder and burglary with a firearm enhancement against Michl‚ according to police. Michl is currently being held on $3 million bail. Her vehicle was also booked into evidence‚ according to police. Although the motive was not immediately clear‚ police reportedly believe the shooting was a random act of violence. Latt comes from a family involved in the Hollywood industry. He is the son of film producer David Latt and Michelle Satter‚ the founding senior director at the Sundance Institute. Satter paid tribute to her son on social media on Wednesday. “Our beloved son‚ brother‚ grandson‚ fiancé Michael Latt‚ fell victim to a tragic act of violence Monday night‚” Satter wrote. “Our family‚ Michael’s extraordinary friends and colleagues are shattered by the profound grief of losing our Michael.” “He devoted his career to supporting others‚ championing organizations that raised up women and artists of color‚ along with leveraging storytelling‚ art and various mediums to create enduring change and instill communities with hope‚ love and inspiration‚” she continued. “Michael will never be forgotten and we can all carry on his legacy of love‚ compassion and fierce dedication to positive and lasting change.” Our beloved son Michael Latt fell victim to a tragic act of violence this week. My best friend‚ confidant‚ fiancé. My love.” According to the Los Angeles Times‚ Latt graduated from Chapman University with a public relations and advertising degree. He spent a number of years working in entertainment marketing‚ including work for the social justice organization Blackout for Human Rights‚ which prompted him to become more involved in activism. “The moment I realized that I could use my skill set for social good‚ I decided to dedicate the rest of my career to helping others‚ empowering storytellers of color‚ and fighting injustice wherever it stands‚” he told Forbes.

Kill DEI To Fight Anti-Semitism

Kill DEI To Fight Anti-Semitism

Yesterday‚ Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.)‚ took to the floor of the Senate to decry anti-Semitism.  Schumer isn’t an amazing source on this particular topic‚ given his consistent support of the Middle East policies of the most anti-Semitic president in modern history‚ Barack Obama. Nonetheless‚ he spoke about the threat of anti-Semitism. And‚ in a rare moment of quasi-honesty‚ he actually mentioned the problem of anti-Semitism among liberals.  “Not long ago‚ many of us marched together for Black and brown lives‚” Schumer said. “We stood against anti-Asian hatred. We protested bigotry against the LGBTQ community. We fought for reproductive justice‚ out of the recognition that injustice against one oppressed group is injustice against all. But apparently‚ in the eyes of some‚ that principle does not extend to the Jewish people.” “I’m a progressive‚” he continued. “I’ve had lots of good relationships with all the people who are protesting‚ but I also feel the urgency — the Jewish people are anguished. I had an obligation to many places: to the Jewish people‚ to my fellow progressives.” Then he said of the “progressives‚” “I had to say it‚ because I don’t think they know it. I don’t think they’re of bad will.” Note the language there: Sure‚ they’re anti-Semitic‚ but they know not what they do. Schumer explained that the phrase “from the river to the sea” was actually just an ignorant expression‚ not a genocidal one. “Plenty of people‚” Schumer said‚ chant the phrase‚ “not because they hate Jewish people‚ but because they support a better future for Palestinians.” Of course‚ that’s a lie — and it’s a particularly egregious lie when Schumer himself has had nothing to say about anti-Semites Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar.  WATCH: The Ben Shapiro Show But that lie must be maintained by the Left — because to recognize the roots of Left-wing anti-Semitism would be to destroy the progressive ideology wholesale. That Leftist ideology is based on a matrix of oppressor versus oppressed — that in any given situation‚ the powerless are oppressed and the powerful are oppressors. That oppressor-oppressed matrix maps directly onto anti-Semitic conspiracy theories about Jewish power: Jews are pseudo-white because Jews are financially well-off and Israel is disproportionately successful. But the oppressor-oppressed matrix doesn’t fit the Jews‚ who are actually being victimized by widespread anti-Semitism in the Middle East and abroad‚ but who are also successful. So the Left keeps pushing the lie. That’s also true of the Anti-Defamation League‚ which put out a poll yesterday with Hillel International asking college students if Diversity‚ Equity and Inclusion should cover anti-Jewish prejudice. Diversity‚ Equity and Inclusion (DEI) is the rubric under which the Left pushes the idea that unequal group outcomes are the result of systemic discrimination — so‚ by that math‚ Jews are the beneficiaries of systemic discrimination. DEI simply can’t include Jews because DEI’s basic logic forbids it. DEI opposes meritocracy. It opposes performance. It opposes success. Nonetheless‚ 84% of Jewish students and 75% of non-Jewish college students said Jews should be included in DEI training: that Jews should be included in the oppressor-oppressed matrix on the side of the oppressed. Of course they say that — what else‚ precisely‚ would they say? The premise of the question is so deeply flawed that only one answer is possible: to say that Jews shouldn’t be included in DEI would be to discriminate against them‚ which violates the supposed basis of DEI. But to include Jews explodes the entire DEI superstructure. So these students are saying what they’re expected to say — yes‚ sure‚ the Jews can be included in the victim class — without recognizing the central truth of DEI: It is a scam. Victimhood is not connected to one’s level of success. Sometimes the powerless are evil. Sometimes the powerful are good. Sometimes the powerless are victimizers. Sometimes the powerful are the victims. You can’t fight anti-Semitism with DEI. You can only increase it. The only way to truly fight anti-Semitism is to recognize what the Bible says in Leviticus: “You shall not be partial to the poor‚ or defer to the great‚ but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor.” But that’s the one thing Chuck Schumer and the ADL will never say. Instead‚ people on the Left will pretend that the true anti-Semitism doesn’t lie in the progressive oppressor-oppressed matrix‚ but in Elon Musk. They’ll target him as an anti-Semite even as he goes to Israel to express solidarity with the families of murdered Jews. Yesterday‚ Elon Musk was asked about advertisers canceling because they don’t like his politics. He said‚ “Don’t advertise. If someone is going to try to blackmail me with advertising? Blackmail me with money? Go f*** yourself. Go f*** yourself. Is that clear?” This is one of the most extraordinary 5-minute clips I’ve ever seen on this app. An epoch-making exchange. pic.twitter.com/DbAFF5MkWD — Joel Berry (@JoelWBerry) November 30‚ 2023 Good for him. All the people pushing DEI are the people seeking to boycott Musk are the people seeking to pussyfoot around Hamas’ feelings. The Venn Diagram is a circle. And that circle is the true threat to Jews in the West. CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILY WIRE APP

Making People Laugh: A Conversation With Matt Rife

Making People Laugh: A Conversation With Matt Rife

The following is a compilation of short excerpts from Dr. Jordan Peterson’s conversation with Matt Rife. In them‚ they discuss the intention behind Matt’s comedy‚ the critical aspect of timing‚ deflection as a defense mechanism‚ healing by exposure‚ cancel culture’s goal to garner attention‚ and laughter as evidence of help. You can listen to or watch the full podcast episode on DailyWire+. Start time: 2:33 [et al.] The Intention Of Making People Laugh Time: 2:59 Jordan: One of the things I have noticed is that people who are harassed by sensorial-minded nell wits almost always back down and apologize. My sense of that is that a mob comes after them first‚ for whatever hypothetical sin they have committed‚ and then they apologize‚ and the second mob comes after them for that. Then they lessen their own character by the false apology‚ and they embolden these idiot accusers. So when this blew up around you‚ why did you decide to take the strategy that you took? Why were you not wracked with guilt and apologetic? Matt: Because it’s just comedy. I’m just doing what’s funny to me. It’s never any deeper than that‚ nor should it be for anybody. I’m saying things that my imagination drums up that makes me happy‚ releases endorphins in my head‚ and makes my life happier. And all I do is share those thoughts with other people in hopes that it makes their life easier. Jordan: Well‚ I have been watching what you do on your specials‚ and you are continually interacting with the audience‚ which‚ correct me if I have this wrong‚ but a lot of the comedians that I have spoken to spend a lot of time preparing their sets and practicing. But what you are doing seems to be something that is much more akin to spontaneous wit. That is a dangerous thing to do because you could easily be not funny. Matt: Oh‚ high risk‚ high reward. Jordan: Well‚ and it is also that because you are doing that‚ you do not have a lot of time to exactly think through what you are going to say. If something strikes you as amusing‚ you pretty much have to go for it. And if your head is full of censorship-related thoughts‚ you are going to be not funny in about 15 seconds. Matt: You have to let the intrusive thoughts win in comedy. You have to. If you’re a naturally funny person‚ the first thing that comes to your mind should be the funniest thing to you most of the time in a comedic situation.  Jordan: It has to be the first thing. You know‚ if you are taking a multiple choice test‚ if you second guess your intuition about the right answer‚ you are more likely to be wrong with the second guess.  Matt: Is that true? That makes complete sense.  Jordan: Yes‚ that immediate response tends to be better. It is a weird thing because that thing that is comical inside you‚ that is providing you with the intuition for the jokes‚ it has to be in quick relationship with the audience. Matt: Timing is everything. Jordan: Yes‚ timing is absolutely everything. You want to say the most pointed thing at exactly the right time. So‚ first of all‚ how broad-scale do you think this rebellion against what you said actually is? How many people do you think are behind it? And why do you think it has become such a big deal? Matt: It’s probably a few dozen thousand‚ which sounds like a lot until you remember there’s 8 billion people in the world. And I would say 90% of the small majority that is upset with me doesn’t go to comedy shows anyway or wouldn’t vibe with me as a person anyway‚ which is fine. … Whether you enjoy what I do or not‚ you don’t even have to know it exists. If I’m your problem — if you and I are face to face and you have a problem with my comedy that I tell that I admit to the world‚ right — if you just remove yourself from me‚ if you do something as simple as just turn around‚ there is an entire planet behind you for you to go explore and live the rest of your life. You don’t ever have to think about me. You don’t have to talk about me. I don’t like screamo heavy metal music. Guess how often I think about it and talk about it? Zero percent of the time. You just remove yourself from the situation. I see no harm in trying to make people laugh as a general intention. DailyWire+ Comedy As A Sophisticated Defense  Time: 27:22 Jordan: How do you keep yourself from focusing on whether or not you are being funny‚ for example‚ when you are interacting with the audience? Matt: It’s purely confidence‚ whether it’s real or fake confidence. I think when I was younger‚ I did develop a fake confidence. I was bullied a lot in high school‚ not like getting shoved into lockers‚ but to the point where I wasn’t anybody in anybody’s group. You know‚ I was class clown. I was the butt of a lot of people’s jokes‚ which didn’t hurt‚ at least I tell myself. But I think that’s where you learn. You learn to deflect. Right? You have two options in a moment when somebody makes a joke at your expense. You can either laugh along and play into it and go with it‚ or you can be embarrassed and everybody sees you’re embarrassed‚ which is even more embarrassing. Jordan: Yes‚ you are right. That just invites abuse. Yes. Matt: So I think growing up I developed this sense of false confidence where I went‚ hey‚ if I also make fun of myself and I get in on your guys’ joke‚ it won’t hurt. Or people can’t tell that I’m upset. People think it doesn’t bother me. WATCH: The Jordan B. Peterson Podcast Jordan: I am going to challenge your supposition that that was false — because the thing about being funny is that if you are false‚ you are not funny. And if you are not funny and you are being bullied‚ you are just going to get bullied worse. So it seems like you were able to generate responses that were witty and that were funny. Matt: But purely a defense mechanism I think. It wasn’t for the point of like‚ oh‚ I hope I get a good joke off here. I think it was‚ I have to deflect them saying a mean thing with me saying a funny thing.  Jordan: I would say that is a very sophisticated defense. Playing With Disaster — And Not Apologizing For It  Time 32:17 Matt: I think comedy is purely down to intent. When people are bullying you‚ when high schoolers are making fun of something about you‚ that’s a totally different intent. Even though they are making a joke‚ their intention is that you’re going to feel a certain kind of way. That is what differentiates it from standup comedy. Every single thing I say on stage is said with nothing but the intention to make people laugh. And I understand it’s not going to make everybody laugh. Some people heal totally differently when it comes to certain topics. I get that and I accept that. I’m not for you. Jordan: But getting touchy about that‚ even if you have been hurt‚ first of all‚ that is a sign that you still have some real work to do. And second‚ getting touchy about that and then shielding yourself from any exposure to that is not the way to being cured. Quite the contrary. You know‚ it is better if you have had a traumatic experience in your life not to protect yourself unduly from situations that might bring that back up‚ but to voluntarily expose yourself to situations where that is likely to be the case. So it might be understandable in that people have been hurt‚ but it is counterproductive even with regard to their own recovery.  Matt: Oh‚ absolutely.  Jordan: Comedy has this psychological function; it is sort of like a horror movie in some ways. It is a weird thing that people will voluntarily watch a horror movie because you might ask‚ why would you pay to be scared? But you are not. You are paying for the experience of the mastery of your fear. And then in comedy‚ you see the same sort of thing happening; the comedians are always toying with the forbidden. And in part‚ the reason the audience participates is because we often have to deal with the forbidden‚ and often some of the things we forbid are not things that we should be avoiding or forbidding. … The comedians have that function of putting forward unpalatable truths in a place where everyone is there to do that voluntarily. That is part of the game. How far can we push things? Then to get all bitchy about that and to try to cancel someone in consequence? I saw this one guy on YouTube who was complaining about you. He said that you built your career as an ally of women. That was basically his point. Now you have betrayed them with your jokes about domestic abuse. So he was playing this‚ “I’m the friend of women” sort of game. But he is violating that contract‚ too‚ which is that everybody is there in a comedy club to play with disaster. And you know‚ you are essentially supposed to go along with that. Matt: I just don’t understand how the environment isn’t taken into consideration. The environment is the context. Think of comedy like a restaurant. You go in there‚ the food’s not for you‚ you can leave. You didn’t have to stop in here. Comedy is such a niche field. I wouldn’t consider standup comedy a mainstream art form. It’s not film‚ it’s not television‚ it’s not music. It’s not as globally celebrated in every household‚ you know. It just blows my mind that people can’t just let it be. If it’s not for you‚ it’s not for you.  Jordan: See‚ what is happening I think‚ even this guy that criticized you in the manner that I just described‚ I found what he had to say‚ and him for that matter‚ contemptible. I thought it was pathetic. But this is something social media does‚ is that his video‚ even though I do not think it redounds to his credit‚ has given him likely more exposure than anything he will ever do in his life. So one of the huge problems on the social media side is that we have put undue access to status in the hands of people who will misuse accusations to garner attention. … One of the massive problems with social media is that it provides people who are willing to do something like savage your reputation with way more attention than they could ever accrue‚ given their own status and abilities. What to do about that‚ I have no idea — although apologizing is a bad idea. DailyWire+. Helping By Making People Laugh Time: 45:15 Jordan: What you are doing‚ if you are a comic‚ is actually helping people‚ not hurting them. And you can tell you are helping them because they laugh.  Matt: Oh‚ of course. And it doesn’t need to be for the masses. If you reach even just a few people‚ you’re doing the right thing. Like I said at the beginning of the podcast‚ everything I do is just to make people laugh. Jordan: I am curious about that because the people who apologize for offending someone with their art or their comedy must have doubts about their own intent‚ right? So if someone comes along and jabs them and says‚ “Maybe you’re just a mean son of a bitch‚” and they say‚ “Well‚ you know‚ maybe I should be more careful.” Maybe they’re feeling a bit depressed‚ but they do step back and doubt themselves.  You could say that there are two reasons that someone called for their misbehavior might doubt themselves. One would be that they are narcissistic‚ and the other would be that they are actually confident in their intent. Now‚ you have indicated a number of times while we have talked that you are confident in your intent.  Matt: Yeah. Jordan: So if I was a persistent skeptic‚ I would say that you clearly offended 12‚000 people — that was the number you came up with. Why are you so confident in your intent that your belief in your own goodness in relationship to comedy trumps the fact that 12‚000 people are telling you that you said something offensive? Matt: Because if 12‚000 people are saying that‚ I would say 100‚000 people are saying they loved it — and they’ve been through domestic violence situations and they found the joke very funny. But they are actually able to deal with that situation in a comedic light. Jordan: Right. Right. Matt: And I commend that bravery. I can only imagine what it takes to get through something like that. But if I can help in any way‚ even if it was on accident‚ I feel great about that.  Keep The Funny Jokes Time 51:15 Jordan: How do you determine which jokes you keep? What kind of response are you looking for?
