Rep. George Santos (R-NY) moved on Thursday to force a House vote to expel Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) for pulling a fire alarm in a congressional office building as Santos himself faces an expulsion vote this week. Santos filed his resolution as “privileged‚” compelling the chamber to act within two legislative days‚ though Santos may already be removed from the House by that deadline and there does not appear to be a sufficient number of members willing to remove Bowman from office. During his remarks on the House floor‚ Santos placed emphasis on the fact that Bowman took a plea deal on a misdemeanor count of falsely pulling a fire alarm that resulted in a temporary evacuation of the Cannon House Office Building in late September ahead of a government spending vote. By contrast‚ Santos has not been convicted of any crimes‚ but he does face 23 federal charges —  including aggravated identity theft‚ wire fraud‚ and conspiracy — to which the congressman has pleaded not guilty. While Santos criticized the ethics inquiry as a political “smear‚” the congressman announced after the report’s release that he would not seek re-election. Lead singer of the The Pogues‚ Shane MacGowan‚ has died following a year-long health battle with encephalitis. He was 65. MacGowan’s wife‚ Victoria‚ confirmed the reports about his death on Thursday. After four Israelis — including a 24-year-old pregnant woman and her unborn child — were murdered by Hamas terrorists in a shooting at a Jerusalem bus stop Thursday‚ ABC News reported on the story using a picture of recently freed Palestinian prisoners as its main photo.  At around 7:40 a.m. local time‚ two Palestinian brothers jumped out of a vehicle at the bus stop near a main entrance to the capital city and fired at the people waiting for the bus‚ killing four and wounding at least six others. Shortly after the shooting‚ Hamas claimed responsibility for the terror attack‚ calling the terrorists “jihad-waging martyrs.”  ABC News’s report on the story featured a photo of people who were crying and embracing — except the photo was not of grieving Israelis but of Palestinian prisoners who were recently freed in exchange for hostages held by terrorists.  Screen Shot: X/ABC News The ABC News report went on to refer to Hamas as a “Palestinian militant group‚” even though Hamas has been designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S. government since 1997. Within seconds‚ three people surround the terrorists and return fire‚ killing them at the scene. The terrorists used an M-16 rifle and a handgun‚ and police found a large amount of ammunition when they searched the brothers’ vehicle‚ according to The Times of Israel. The older brother was jailed from 2010 to 2020 for planning attacks in coordination with terrorist groups in the Gaza Strip‚ and the younger brother was jailed in 2014 for undisclosed terror activity‚ the Shin Bet security agency said.

Actress Jodie Sweetin‚ best known for playing Stephanie Tanner on the hit comedy “Full House‚” said child stars who aren’t damaged by becoming famous all have one thing in common. “When you see the kids that grew up in this business that turned out to be fairly normal‚ well-rounded people‚ they all have really normal parents‚ who didn’t want to be in the business themselves‚” the 41-year-old actress told Today. Sweetin starred in the series when she was just 5 years old after doing some commercial work in her hometown of Los Angeles. Everything I had known from the time I was 5 years old suddenly ended and it was like saying goodbye to a family I had loved very‚ very much‚” Sweetin said in 2016. “At such a young age it really was a huge loss for me‚ I didn’t know how to grieve. Drugs and alcohol just sort of numbed everything.” The celebrity has been sober since 2011. She’s now a mother of two and is a certified drug and alcohol counselor.

Tennessee unveiled a broad new school choice initiative this week. Governor Bill Lee (R) announced the Education Freedom Scholarship Act on Tuesday at the Tennessee State Museum alongside Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R). Arkansas adopted a universal school choice policy earlier this year. Lee’s proposal would establish universal school choice for every public school student across the state. Next school year‚ 20‚000 scholarships would be available. Half of those would go to Tennessee students at or below 300% of the federal poverty line‚ who have a disability‚ or are eligible for the existing Education Savings Account pilot program. By the school year that starts in 2025‚ all public school students would be eligible for a scholarship. No bill has been formally filed in the legislature yet‚ but Lee said his office would work with the legislature on the “final details” when the General Assembly reconvenes in January. Families could spend their child’s scholarship money on tuition at a private or religious school‚ uniforms‚ technology‚ transportation‚ or home school expenses. Families can also spend the money on tutoring‚ after school programs‚ and SAT and ACT exam fees. Lee also said the scholarship program would be funded separately from Tennessee’s Investment in Student Achievement funding structure for K-12 education. Lee said Tennessee should do two things at once — strive to have the best public school system in the country and provide families with school choice. “These two ideas are not in conflict‚ and conservative states across the country are proof‚” Lee said in a statement provided to The Daily Wire.
