The New York Times reported Democrats are "quietly pining" for live coverage of Trump rallies...because they think voters have gone soft on their loathing of Trump‚ so they need more Trump in their face! They want Trump "plastered all over the news." It's like a rerun of 2015-16. Mike Turner about Speaker Mike Johnson releasing all 40‚000 hours of January 6 footage from the House. She asked "Do you think it was responsible to release all of the footage from January 6th?" Aren't journalists supposed to be in favor of a full public record?   Turner referred to the Pelosi-Picked Panel on 1-6 and said "we are currently only depending upon really partisan descriptions and now the American people can see." Welker shot back "some of your Republican colleagues have cherry picked some of the images to‚ frankly‚ further some conspiracy theories. Are you comfortable with that?" But just in the nature of making a newscast or a news article‚ the media ALWAYS "cherry pick" events. So did the 1-6 Committee. This is all about maintaining narrative control and against freedom of information. Rich Noyes was watching the news shows while most people were on vacation‚ and noticed the networks avoided the D-word -- "Democrat" -- in reporting on someone lodging a sexual assault complaint from 1993 against New York Mayor Eric Adams. The national media have a long tradition of ignoring the D when a prominent Democrat is being pounded by scandal‚ whether it's fair or unfair. The major network evening newscasts have failed to report a story that has been reported far and wide elsewhere: the multistate lawsuit against Meta‚ parent company of both Facebook and Instagram‚ over complaints that the company failed to protect the privacy of minors thus exposing them to harm.  Instead‚ the story has been relegated to streaming newscasts. Here’s how ABC covered the story on its streaming service ABC News Live Prime: REPORTER: Social media giant Meta‚ owner of Facebook and Instagram‚ is accused of violating federal laws on children's privacy. The legal complaint filed by attorneys general in 33 states alleges Instagram coveted and pursued users who were under 13 without parental permission‚ disabling only a fraction of those underage accounts. In response‚ Meta tells ABC news‚ “...we have measures in place to remove these accounts when we identify them. However‚ verifying the age of people online is a complex industry challenge.”  The underlying facts of the lawsuit are more serious than this scant coverage would suggest‚ per The New York Times: The privacy charges in the case center on a 1998 federal law‚ the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. That law requires that online services with content aimed at children obtain verifiable permission from a parent before collecting personal details — like names‚ email addresses or selfies — from users under 13. Fines for violating the law can run to more than $50‚000 per violation. The lawsuit argues that Meta elected not to build systems to effectively detect and exclude such underage users because it viewed children as a crucial demographic — the next generation of users — that the company needed to capture to assure continued growth. Meta had many indicators of underage users‚ according to the Wednesday filing. An internal company chart displayed in the unsealed material‚ for example‚ showed how Meta tracked the percentage of 11- and 12-year-olds who used Instagram daily‚ the complaint said. That’s pretty serious stuff. The willful failure to protect children in order to ensure the next generation’s eyeballs. As we know‚ children are preyed upon on social media‚ and bombarded with all kinds of degeneracy.  And it isn’t like the networks didn’t have the time to cover this‚ even if with the same 30-second brief that ABC mustered for their streaming newscast. ABC and NBC ran human-interest stories on their newscasts‚ and CBS closed its newscast with a report on the 2024 TSA dog calendar (Norah O’Donnell’s forced dog puns were ruff to watch‚ too).  I hope to be wrong‚ but these omissions suggest‚ at bare minimum‚ a lack of interest in this story and‚ at worst‚ a willful intent to keep this lawsuit away from their viewers.

A bizarre scene unfolded at the Disneyland theme park in Burbank‚ California‚ when a man began stripping off his clothing and wandered around the It's a Small World ride as other visitors looked on. Video showed the visitors to the Happiest Place on Earth watching in bewilderment as the half-naked man wandered around the animatronic displays in his underwear. That video showed his clothing in a pile inside the attraction. A later video showed that he stripped off all of his clothing before jumping into the water as a park employee confronted him right outside of the entrance to the ride. “I am on Small World and there was a streaker‚ I cannot believe this happening‚” read a post on X‚ formerly known as Twitter‚ by a user named Ashley Esqueda. The videos on social media were collected and published by KTTV-TV: The visitors expressed concern that he may break the animatronic displays and also worried that he was going to fall and hurt himself. A final video showed officers of the Anaheim Police Department carrying the man away in the middle of the park. Anaheim Police spokesperson Sgt. Jon McClintock said officers were called to the park at about 1:30 p.m. and arrested a 26-year-old man on suspicion of indecent exposure and for being under the influence of a controlled substance. Police said he was taken to a hospital as a precaution. The man's identity has not yet been released. Disneyland officials told KTLA-TV that they immediately stopped the ride after they were informed about the man's behavior. Restoration of a 17th century portrait of Diana Cecil‚ great-granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth I’s chief advisor William Cecil‚ has revealed her original thin upper lip and high forehead‚ removing the overpaint that had artificially plumped her pucker and lowered her hairline. The conservation also revealed the signature of the artist and the date hidden in the folds of the curtain: Cornelius Johnson‚ 1634. The portrait is one of two of Diana Cecil in The Suffolk Collection‚ a group of 400 works‚ many portraits of aristocrats and royals but also other masterpieces by the likes of Vermeer‚ Turner and Rembrandt‚ amassed by the Howard family from the 17th to the 20th century. Diana’s sister Elizabeth was married to a Howard‚ which is how he portraits came to be in the collection. The greatest portraits of The Suffolk Collection are nine full-length pieces by the premiere Jacobean portraitist William Larkin‚ one of which is a 1614 portrait of Diana Cecil painted when she was about 15 years old. Her high forehead and fine upper lip are in evidence even at that young age. Diana Cecil was considered one of the great beauties of the Jacobean nobility. She married twice‚ first to Henry de Vere‚ 18th Earl of Oxford‚ in 1624‚ barely a year before his death‚ and again in 1629 to Thomas Bruce‚ who would be created 1st Earl of Elgin by King Charles I in 1633. The newly-restored portrait of Diana was made the year after her husband received that rich favor. In the later portrait‚ Cecil wears a fashionable blue satin bodice and full‚ trailing skirt. In contrast to the earlier portrait‚ elite fashion is characterised by understated elegance‚ rather than opulently patterned fabric or complicated layering‚ English heritage said. Plain silk‚ satin or taffeta were the height of fashion‚ with one or two focal points‚ such as the red ribbons laced across the front of Cecil’s bodice‚ holding the stomacher in place‚ and a matching red rose at her breast and a patterned fan‚ which she holds half-open in front of her. The Suffolk Collection is displayed at Kenwood House‚ a stately neoclassical villa in Hampstead administered by English Heritage. The later portrait of Diana Cecil recently underwent conservation so that it could be put on display. It had suffered significantly from having been rolled up widthways‚ damaging the paint surface‚ and old varnish had yellowed‚ dimming the once-brilliant colors. The removal of the old varnish uncovered the touch-ups to her lips and hair‚ likely made in the late 19th or early 20th century in a failed attempt to repair some of the damage from the rolling and update her looks in keeping with beauty standards of the time while they were at it. Alice Tate-Harte‚ collections conservator (fine art) at English Heritage‚ said in a press release: “As a paintings conservator I am often amazed by the vivid and rich colours that reveal themselves as I remove old‚ yellowing varnish from portraits‚ but finding out Diana’s features had been changed so much was certainly a surprise! “While the original reason for overpainting could have been to cover damage from the portrait being rolled‚ the restorer certainly added their own preferences to ‘sweeten’ her face. I hope I’ve done Diana justice by removing those additions and presenting her natural face to the world.” The restored portrait of Diana Cecil will go on display next to the portrait of her second husband Thomas Bruce at Kenwood House on November 30th.
