'We all have the same notion'

A British Columbia teen is camping alone‚ as he would regularly do. On the second night‚ while in his sleeping bag‚ he had an encounter with a large biped that communicated with him.“I grew up on an acreage in a rough bush area in northern British Columbia. We worked really hard and were often in close proximity to all kinds of wildlife. I got my first rifle when I was 9 years old and hunted from that point on until recently. This happened to me 50 years ago when I was 14.I was in the habit of jumping on my motorbike riding 20 miles further back from the head of the road where we lived into the bush on old logging roads and then hiking 45 minutes through dense bush to my favorite fishing spot‚ Brewster Lake. I would like to go alone with just my dog. He always knew where I was going and would trot his way out by himself usually showing up about 30 minutes after I got there. We would usually spend 2 or 3 days there when we went. I didn't pack a lot of gear; my .22‚ hunting knife‚ sleeping bag‚ matches‚ fishing gear‚ frying pan and sometimes I would even remember to bring the salt and pepper since I never ever brought food in with me. Either I'd head back home and I couldn't stomach any more fish or if it was too wet‚ as I also never had a tent. I just slept under the stars of my sleeping bag.I had never even heard of Bigfoot. On this particular trip‚ it was in late August 1973‚ as mentioned‚ I didn't have a tent. Just my dog and I. During my second night sleeping out under the stars‚ at around 2:00 to 3:00 AM‚ I woke to the sound of something very large moving through the woods on two legs about 25 or 30 feet off to my right on the edge of the brush. I couldn't see anything because my fire was long out and it was overcast. I glanced around to see where my dog was. He was usually nearby me but was nowhere to be seen. My .22 was just off to my left and I had my hunting knife beside me inside the sleeping bag. I didn't think the .22 was going to be much help in the event of a big animal attack anyhow‚ so I left it where it was and slipped my knife out of its sheath inside my sleeping bag.I thought it must be a bear because what else could it be? I lay still hoping that whatever it was would leave me alone and move on but that wasn't in the cards. I was camping on a small rocky point between the ledge of the brush and the lake. It's about 30 feet wide. I was about in the middle between the lake edge and the bush. My feet were pointed mostly toward the lake at an angle with my head facing mostly toward the woods. I heard this thing moving around to the back of me. It came out of the brush and slowly moved up directly behind my head. As this was happening‚ I was preparing for the fight I thought was surely coming. So in my sleeping bag‚ I slowly shrugged my shoulders up as close to my ears as possible and moved my left hand and arm up over my throat to protect my neck. My right hand was on my chest with my knife tightly gripped and ready to go if something was going to eat me for lunch. It might be a cheap lunch but I was going to make sure it wasn't going to be a free lunch.I was sleeping with my head mostly covered by the top of my sleeping bag with just my eyes‚ nose‚ and mouth exposed to the night because of all the mosquitoes. Even though I was on mostly rock‚ I could feel the footsteps. I've never heard anything breathe so loudly. If you breathed in and out as long and hard as you could in an exaggerated way‚ it still wouldn't even come close. I swear I could feel the breath. I tell you‚ I was fully expecting I was going to get my face chomped. I remember thinking to myself‚ what the hell kind of bear is this?It stopped about three feet behind my head and that's when the smell hit me. I mean it was bad. I can't even describe it and in spite of my best intentions to be quiet‚ lay still‚ and hope it didn't mess with me‚ I couldn't help gagging and coughing. Now this part is very hard to explain and I don't give a crap if people believe me or not but at that point‚ I clearly heard a calm voice in my head telling me that I had nothing to worry about. I was perfectly safe and nothing was going to hurt me. I should relax and go back to sleep and right then I was overcome with a sense of calm and feeling extremely tired. I remember thinking to myself‚ what the hell‚ how can I go to sleep at a time like this?My visitor turned and started walking away from me and I fell right to sleep before it was even gone. I don't remember it leaving. I slept well and woke up at first light about 6:00 AM to a cow moose up to its mid-belly in the water feeding on the lake bottom‚ not 25 feet from where I was laying. And my dog was back beside me. This messed with my head for a long time because it was not at all like a bear. It was definitely walking on two legs and the odor was unlike anything I've ever smelled. I couldn't make sense of it.I never talked to anyone about this until years later when I told my grown sons. I don't know that they believed me and I can't say I blame them but at least they had the good sense to keep that to themselves. I'm from the era when if someone said they didn't believe you‚ that's the same as them calling you a liar and those are fighting with words. A group of friends in Denton‚ Missouri encounter a canine-like biped that chases their vehicle. After contacting Park Rangers‚ they were questioned by several supposed MIBs and told to stay quiet."In the summer of 2008‚ a group of boys cleaning a cemetery in Denton Township‚ Missouri‚ encountered some type of creature that attacked them. Denton is in Mark Twain State Park."Josh (the primary witness)‚ 16‚ was a Boy Scout who was hoping to get his Eagle badge. To accomplish this‚ he had to do a public project. He opted to clean up the Sam Crocker cemetery in Good Water‚ Missouri. Three of his friends tagged along and agreed to help. Josh's brother and his friend also tagged along so they could be dropped off at a local creek to fish.They all hopped into Josh's Grand Cherokee and left. They arrived at Sam Crocker around 11:45 after dropping off the brother and his friend at the fishing hole. They got to work. At around 1:30 PM‚ two park rangers showed up and checked on them. They told them that they would be in the area. Later‚ one of the friends mending the cemetery fence noticed something off in a clearing. He thought it was a bear. He told Josh that the bear was heading towards the creek‚ so they agreed to get the brother and his friend. The brother and friend agreed to come back with them.They returned to the cemetery and ate their lunch. One of the friends walking over to retrieve his water bottle smelled a terrible odor. He likened it to rotten eggs mixed with a strong stench of animal feces and urine. Josh also smelled it and decided to go look for what it might be. He went right down to the road‚ assuming it was a dead animal. That's when Josh spotted a silhouette in the woodline pacing back and forth. He thought it was a bear. As Josh began making his way back trying not to run‚ he yelled for his friends to get back to the car. That is when Josh realized that it was bipedal and not a bear. The creature seemingly realizing that it had been spotted‚ dropped to all fours and began running through the cemetery. They all got to the vehicle and sped away.The brother in the back of the vehicle could see the creature chasing them. Looking in his rearview‚ Josh claimed that it looked like an all-black German Shepherd about the size of a small pony with stoplight red eyes. At some point‚ the creature jumped onto the hood of the jeep. He slammed on his brakes and the creature fell off. It stood up in front of the jeep and stared at them. Josh thought it stood about 6 feet weighed 200 pounds and had jet black/brown hair covering its entire body. Josh could not understand how its eyes were so red. After a few minutes‚ the creature dropped back down to all fours. It seemed to grab onto the back bumper. The boys made it to the highway where they saw the rangers. Josh attempted to alert them‚ honking and shining his lights. The creature jumped off at that point. They drove for another ten minutes before turning around. When they went back‚ they saw the two rangers standing over something on the road. One of the rangers walked up to Josh's vehicle and told them that they just had to put an animal down and get out of there and that their bosses were on their way. Josh agreed.As he drove‚ they passed three park ranger trucks moving very fast and a trooper. The trooper turned around and pulled Josh over. He took their names and then indicated that a dog had just been put down. Josh was just happy to get out of there.Six or seven days go by and Josh gets a call from the scoutmaster who tells him that he knows about the incident at the cemetery. He asked him to come by his house so they could talk about his Eagle Scout badge and Josh agreed. When he arrived at the scoutmaster's home‚ he saw a park ranger vehicle and a black Suburban parked out front.He went inside and observed the scoutmaster‚ a park ranger‚ and three figures dressed in black suits‚ two were males and one was a female. The female was wearing a black pantsuit. One male in the suit was short and wore glasses while the other stood about 6'1 or 6'2 and was much more imposing. The first thing the ranger asked was if the creature in the park at all damaged or scratched his vehicle. Josh indicated that it didn't. With that‚ the female got up with a clipboard and walked outside. At some point‚ the scoutmaster passed Josh an envelope. Inside was his Eagle Scout badge and the paperwork. Josh had not completed the required hours to earn the Eagle Scout badge and yet he was giving it to him. The taller man said‚ “We're giving you this today because we know that you are trustworthy and you cannot tell anyone what occurred that day at the cemetery. You have to let your friends know exactly what happened that you guys saw a bear and you guys got spooked and left. Tell your friends the same thing we're telling you otherwise we will we will come back we will come‚ instead of having you come here‚ we will come to your home.”He then named every person in the vehicle‚ seemingly threatening them too. Shortly after this meeting‚ the scoutmaster and his wife moved away from the area. The antipathy most inside-the-Beltway journalists have for conservatives was on display on Friday’s Washington Week on PBS. Viewers heard how the Republicans’ “anger caucus” was “willing to blow things up” in Washington‚ while new Speaker Mike Johnson was a “deeply‚ deeply religious conservative” who has “dehumanized the LGBTQ population in this country.” There was no debate about any of these insulting characterizations; rather‚ the journalists who volunteered them acted as if they were objectively explaining political reality. First‚ fill-in host Lisa Desjardins recalled how last week regular moderator‚ The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg‚ had lampooned Republicans who favor spending restraint as “the anger caucus.” Desjardins was evidently so tickled by the label‚ so she employed it when asking USA Today’s Susan Page to explain how difficult it is to work constructively with House conservatives. Page responded by talking about “this group of Republicans who are very conservative — not just conservative‚ but willing to blow things up....It goes back  1994 and Newt Gingrich winning control of the House of Representatives for the first time in decades.” “The dilemma for the Republican leaders‚” Page continued‚ “is that their highest priority is not what most of Washington thinks of as the fundamentals of government like keeping the government doors open.” Later on‚ Desjardins asked New York Times White House correspondent Carl Hulse about Speaker Johnson’s Christian views on social issues. “In the past he has dehumanized the LGBTQ population in this country‚” she asserted without evidence‚ asking “should we expect him to go back to that kind of Mike Johnson?” [Last month‚ an MRC study found PBS’s NewsHour‚ where Desjardins is a lead correspondent‚ tilted 90% against religious conservatives when it came to “LGBT issues.”] “I think that he is trying to steer clear of it right now‚ but this is clearly who he is‚” Hulse replied. “He is a deeply‚ deeply religious conservative. And I think he’s going to have a hard time not discussing this at some point. But abortion as we saw in the elections here earlier this month is just a big issue for Democrats. And how he handles this is going to be a big part of his persona going forward.

Since Roe v. Wade was overturned in June 2022‚ around 32‚000 babies have been born that would have otherwise been aborted‚ according to a new study. The New York Times reported that by comparing birth statistics in states before and after the Supreme Court banned abortions‚ researchers discovered that the law caused around 32‚000 annual births. The data is based on just the first six months of 2023 and was in line with initial expectations.However‚ various studies have demonstrated that many women who live in states with an abortion ban still carry out abortions. These women will either travel to states where abortion is still legal‚ or they will purchase pills online‚ according to the report. The Times noted the one data point that cannot be known for certain is how many women have not carried out abortions during that same time period.The analysis‚ carried out by the Institute of Labor Economics‚ claimed that in the first six months of the year‚ between one-fourth and one-fifth of women who live in states with bans‚ who would otherwise have sought out an abortion‚ did not get one."Our primary analysis indicates that in the first six months of 2023‚ births rose by an average of 2.3 percent in states enforcing total abortion bans compared to a control group of states where abortion rights remained protected‚ amounting to approximately 32‚000 additional annual births resulting from abortion bans‚" the study says.Fox News Digital reported that the three researchers who carried out the study said the shift represented the "most profound transformation of the landscape of U.S. abortion access in 50 years‚" based on births data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.The student continued: "As of November 1‚ 2023‚ 14 states are enforcing bans on abortion in nearly all circumstances‚ and 23 percent of U.S. women of reproductive age have experienced an increase in driving distance to the nearest abortion facility‚ from an average of 43 miles one-way before Dobbs to 330 miles at present."Alison Gemmill‚ who is an assistant professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health‚ shared with CNN that the new numbers should raise alarm about "reproductive harmony.""We don’t always detect signals in these population aggregates because there’s a lot of variation when you group everybody together‚" Gemmill said. Critics have referred to her as "pathetic" and wishing to appease enemies so as not to be the target of attacks.Rabbi Jessica Rosenberg has garnered a name for herself by interrupting a fundraiser for President Joe Biden‚ demanding that a ceasefire take place in the Middle East. She has also published an op-ed for CNN and appeared on the network for an interview‚ according to the New York Post. Rosenberg also sat down with Rep. Ilan Omar to talk about issues. Omar posted to X about the meet on November 16‚ writing: "I was honored to meet with Rabbi Jessica Rosenberg‚ a proud Minnesotan." — (@) "In our powerful conversation‚ we agreed that true peace can only happen when the current violence ends. I sincerely pray for an immediate ceasefire and the safe return of all hostages."Omar has come under fire for condemning Israel's response to Hamas' attacks against the Jewish state on October 7‚ when 1‚200 people were killed in southern Israel. Since then‚ Israel has carried out ground attacks in Gaza‚ with the mission of eliminating Hamas terrorists. The Star Tribune reported that though Rosenberg was met with demands to sit down during the Democratic fundraiser‚ the rabbi said that she tuned it all out and reflected on the growing number of Gazans who have been killed in the conflict."I have never felt more clear in my role as a rabbi‚ or in my life as a Jew‚ than singing‚ 'cease-fire now‚' in a room where the president can hear me‚" Rosenberg said.The opportunity to shout at Biden came with a heavy price tag‚ as Rosenberg reportedly purchased a ticket to the event for $1‚000.
