Douglas Murray‚ the British author of “The War on the West‚” blasted President Biden for his alleged efforts to prepare for declaring a Palestinian state. “It’s amazing how long bad ideas take to die. That’s certainly the case with one of the least successful ideas in the world. The idea of the two-state solution in the Middle East‚” Murray began in an opinion piece titled‚ “Shameful Biden tries to reward Hamas terror with a Palestinian state.” “How do we know it is unsuccessful? Because it has been tried for decades and never works. Generations of US Presidents have wasted energy on the idea. All based on a falsehood.” Murray targeted the “song” he said had been sung by “Republicans and Democrats alike” that “if the Palestinian people had another state then all the other problems of the Middle East would be solved.” “The economy of Yemen would suddenly boom‚” he quipped. “The Ayatollahs in Iran would suddenly grant equal rights to women. There’d be gay pride in Saudi Arabia.” “It is a fairytale‚ of course‚” he pointed out. “None of the rest of the Arab world gives a damn about the Palestinians. Most actively hate them — seeing them as bringing terror wherever they go (as the Palestinians did when they went to Jordan‚ Egypt‚ Tunisia and Lebanon — to name just a few).” Noting that the Palestinians have “doggedly refused a state every time they were offered one‚” he continued‚ “In 2005‚ the Israelis effectively gifted the Palestinians a state in Gaza‚ when the Israeli government forced every Jew out of the area and handed the strip over to the Palestinians. And what did the Palestinians do with their new state? Well‚ they voted in Hamas‚ who then had a coup and spent 18 years taking US taxpayer dollars to build a terror state from which they invaded Israel again last year.” “After the 7th October who on earth could believe it is a good idea for the Palestinians to be given another state?” he asked rhetorically. “Ever since the atrocities of October 7th‚ Joe Biden and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken have been insisting that now is just the time to ‘double down’ on the two-state solution‚” he wrote. “It is like watching an alcoholic trying to recover from a hangover by having the first drink of the morning.” Pointing out that within a month of the October 7 Hamas massacre of Israelis Biden had insisted on a two-state solution‚ Murray questioned‚ “But why? Why after Palestinians had carried out the most brutal day of terror since the creation of the State of Israel should they be rewarded with a state? And why should it be governed by the Palestinian Authority? … It is a totally corrupt entity.” “On October 8th — as terrorists were still running wild across the south of Israel — Blinken told CBS‚ ‘We think the best way to resolve [the Israeli-Palestinian conflict] remains a two-state solution‚’” Murray recalled. “A month later he could be found claiming that a two-state solution was ‘the only way to end a cycle of violence.’ By the time he was in Davos in January Blinken was telling the New York Times that creating a Palestinian state would solve all the problems of the region‚ including (bizarrely) regional instability caused by Iran. … By the end of January Blinken was reported to have ordered the State Department to review options for American recognition of a Palestinian State.” “I wonder how many more terror attacks will come about by incentivizing terror in this way?” Murray speculated. “But the other reason why it is so wicked is that since 2005 we know what a Palestinian state in the West Bank would look like. It would not just be one more failed Arab state. It would be another Palestinian terror state. One which had views over the entirety of Israel and where the rockets could this time easily hit Tel Aviv‚ Haifa and Ben Gurion airport‚” he wrote. Murray concluded‚ “So long as the Palestinians celebrate terror‚ encourage terror and pay for terror they should not have another state. Two-states? It’s not a solution. It’s part of the problem.”

The Fulton County District Attorney’s Office decided not to put Fani Willis back on the witness stand on Friday after the DA’s explosive testimony Thursday about her relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade‚ whom she hired for her 2020 election interference case against former President Donald Trump. The decision to keep Willis off the stand comes after multiple portions of her Thursday testimony became heated as defense attorneys grilled her about her relationship with Wade and her handling of her office’s finances. Willis faces possible disqualification from her case against Trump over allegations that she has misused taxpayer dollars and showed favoritism to Wade‚ according to the judge overseeing the case.  The defense is expected to question Terrence Bradley — Wade’s former law partner and one-time friend — while the district attorney’s office has called on Willis’ father‚ John C. Floyd III‚ to testify‚ Fox News reported. Prosecutors also called former Georgia Democratic Gov. Roy Barnes to the stand‚ and he praised both Willis and Wade‚ calling the district attorney “a very qualified young woman.” The first sign of trouble for Willis popped up on Thursday when Robin Bryant-Yeartie‚ a former employee in the DA’s office‚ testified by video conference earlier in the day that Willis and Wade had been in a romantic relationship from 2019 to at least 2022. That contradicted claims by both Willis and Wade that their personal relationship did not begin until 2022.  Willis testified that Bryant-Yeartie “betrayed” their friendship‚ saying she has “not spoken to Robin in over a year.”  “I certainly do not consider her a friend now. I think that she — you know‚ there’s a saying no good deed goes unpunished and I think that she’d betrayed our friendship‚” she said. Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned his employees at the Department of State not to engage in “misgendering‚” as violent conflicts in Europe and the Middle East continue to rage on. Blinken sent out the guidance on language in the days following the United States’ missile strike of Iran-backed militants in Iraq and Syria in retaliation for the killing of three American soldiers‚ turning his attention away from the conflict to tell officials which terms they should — and shouldn’t — use when talking about gender. The February 5th memo‚ first reported by National Review‚ warned State Department employees that it “can be problematic” and send a “harmful message” to use gendered language like “mother/father‚” “son/daughter‚” and “husband/wife.” But while Blinken is distributing guidance on “misgendering” at the State Department‚ which is responsible for the nation’s foreign policy and foreign relations‚ wars are still raging in Ukraine and Gaza‚ with tensions still high in the South China Sea. The memo‚ titled “Modeling DEIA: Gender Identity Best Practices‚” intended to “increase understanding of gender identity and provide guidance on gender identity language and best practices that support an inclusive work environment.” It also goes on to claim that sex and gender are distinct concepts‚ with the latter allegedly referring to the “innermost concept of self as masculine‚ feminine‚ a blend of both‚ or neither‚” which “may or may not correspond with one’s sex assigned at birth.” The memo even encourages State Department employees to denote their pronouns in their email signatures‚ adding that “Commonly used pronouns could include she/her‚ he/him‚ they/them‚ and ze/zir.” It also stated that an individual may use more than one set of pronouns and that “this is a personal decision that should be respected.” While Blinken’s memo told employees to use and flaunt their gender pronouns‚ his explained memo explained that one should not “pressure someone to state their pronouns‚” and remember that gender identity “may be fluid‚ so remain attuned to and supportive of shifts in pronouns.” Blinken also warned against using certain phrases that refer to people’s sex but that are commonly used like “manpower‚” “you guys‚” and even “ladies and gentlemen.” Alternative phrases‚ such as “labor force‚” “folks‚” “you all‚” and “everyone‚” were recommended instead. The phrase “brave men and women on the front lines‚” was said to be exclusionary as well‚ with State Department officials instructed to “use more specific language such as ‘brave first responders‚’ ‘brave soldiers‚’ or ‘brave DS agents.’” Blinken’s memo comes as the Biden administration has leveraged the federal bureaucracy‚ from the National Security Agency (NSA) to the National Science Foundation (NSF) to push far-left dogmas. The NSA created a 34-page “DEI Glossary” that pushed Critical Race Theory and transgender ideology‚ with terms like “white fragility‚” “queer theory‚” “settler colonialism‚” and the pronouns “ze/zir‚”an exclusive report from The Daily Wire found. Meanwhile‚ the NSF will allocate nearly $1 million taxpayer dollars to an effort to make college biology courses more “inclusive” by denying that there are only two genders. But while several federal agencies have aggressively pushed highly ideological agendas under President Biden‚ former president Trump and members of his administration have discussed plans to gut the administrative state if he beats Biden in November.

Consumers greeted the news that filmmaker and “Blackish” producer Kenya Barris is making “diverse” reboots of “The Wizard of Oz” and “It’s a Wonderful Life” with a long‚ belabored sigh. Not again. On-screen diversity in Hollywood has made tremendous strides in recent decades‚ but the modern DEI push to commandeer every available property is a bit much.  We routinely see white characters replaced by black actors‚ decisions that often yield positive results. Few‚ if any‚ complained when superstar Samuel L. Jackson became the MCU’s Nick Fury‚ a spy character originally depicted as white in Marvel Comics. For all the hue and cry over Halle Bailey’s casting in “The Little Mermaid‚” the young actress commanded the screen and more than held her own bringing those classic songs to life. Yet revisiting classics for the sake of an Identity Politics “upgrade” feels like the antithesis of art. The story should come first‚ not the color of the actors or the agenda in play. The kind of projects Barris promises are wholesome renovations with black performers foremost in mind. It appears Hollywood will not stop rebooting beloved properties – unless audiences abandon these projects en masse. Still‚ the track record on race-based reboots is spotty at best. Hollywood decided to bring the main character’s blue-collar bluster to the big screen‚ but the adaptation followed four black characters and their various shenanigans. The studio cast Cedrick the Entertainer and Mike Epps as longtime buddies Ralph Kramden and Ed Norton‚ while Gabrielle Union and Regina Hall co-starred as their patient wives. The film flopped in theaters ($12 million) and drew withering responses from both critics and fans alike. The update’s 13% “rotten” rating from professional critics said it all. “What Men Want” (2019) BET Films. Paramount Players. IMDB. It’s hard to remember a time when mainstream movie comedies made oodles of cash. The 2000 comedy “What Women Want” starring Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt made an astonishing‚ by modern standards‚ $182 million at U.S. theaters. Actress Taraji P. Henson steps in for Gibson‚ in a film that both race and gender swaps the key characters. The reboot earned just $54 million despite higher ticket prices while drawing withering reviews. “[Director Adam] Shankman was free to be creative and even a tiny bit profound. But instead of smarts‚ we get farts‚” wrote The New York Post. For what it’s worth‚ an Asian remake of the 2000 comedy scored a perfect 0% “rotten” score with critics. “About Last Night” (2014) Sony Pictures Entertainment. IMDB. The 1986 original featured Brat Packers Rob Lowe and Demi Moore and captured the ‘80s angst felt by many young Americans of the time. It was never a critical darling‚ but it became a title people looked back on with fondness. The 2014 remake‚ once again based on David Mamet’s hit 1974 off-Broadway play “Sexual Perversity in Chicago‚” didn’t lack for talent. Comedian-turned-film superstar Kevin Hart led a cast that included Regina Hall and Michael Ealey. The update made a modest $46 million stateside and generated more favorable reviews. It failed to puncture the zeitgeist like the original‚ although it arrived at a time with far more content competition. “The Wonder Years” (2021-2023) ABC Entertainment. Lee Daniels Entertainment. This dramedy followed young‚ precocious Kevin (Fred Savage) as he navigated childhood’s speedbumps in the Flower Power era. The ‘60s story touched on contemporary issues like the Vietnam War as seen through young Kevin’s eyes. The saga lasted six seasons and briefly made young Savage a movie star.  The race-swapped remake gave more attention to the civil rights movement due to the black family at the center of the yarn. The series lasted two seasons on ABC‚ and it sounds like that was a best-case scenario. The Wonder Years ranks as the lowest-rated and least watched ABC series this summer‚ behind the network’s unscripted slate. It also would rank last among ABC’s series that aired during the 2022-23 season. Critics raved about the series but their views didn’t bring many viewers to the reboot. “Uncle Buck” (2016) Uncle Buck (2016). ABC Signature. Will Packer Productions. IMDB. John Candy’s irrepressible loser powered the great 1989 comedy‚ one Hollywood rebooted not once — but twice. The first version‚ featuring the late Kevin Meaney‚ lasted two seasons on the small screen. The second TV reboot‚ featuring veteran comic actor Mike Epps as the lovable main character‚ generated weak feedback from both critics and audiences. “Death at a Funeral” (2010) Death at a Funeral (2010). Sony Pictures Entertainment. Screen Gems. IMDB. Director Frank Oz’s 2007 dark comedy got a swift reboot with a mostly black cast. The original film leaned into classic farce‚ with the American director leading a mostly British cast through its paces. That film never broke out in a meaningful way despite solid reviews but eventually earned cult classic status. The reboot features Chris Rock‚ Tracy Morgan‚ Regina Hall‚ Keith David‚ and Peter Dinklage (who also starred in the original version).  The film out-earned the original in the U.S. – $49 million to $8 million – but didn’t impress film critics (43% “Rotten”). It’s no wonder consumers greeted Barris’ dueling‚ race-swapped remakes with caution. Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) warned on Friday that U.S. troops could be involved in direct combat with Russia if Congress fails to send additional support to Ukraine.  Coons‚ a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee‚ told CNBC while attending the Munich Security Conference that the U.S. must continue funding Ukraine and its European allies to fend off further Russian aggression. He also called on the House to pass the $95 billion foreign aid package‚ which includes support for Ukraine‚ that the Senate passed earlier this week.  “In the next front against Russia‚ it will be Americans on the front lines‚” Coons said‚ according to CNBC. “We are best off investing in the Ukrainians who are fighting bravely for their own freedom than allowing [Russian President Vladimir] Putin the opportunity to spread further chaos and violence across Europe.” The Democratic senator added that he fears without the additional funding for Ukraine‚ Putin will target a NATO country‚ forcing the U.S. to put troops on the ground in Europe. The senator is “optimistic” that the Republican-led House will approve the bill after “some back and forth.”  “If we don’t stop Putin in Ukraine‚ he will next be attacking NATO allies of the United States‚” he said.  House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has been vocal about his opposition to the massive foreign aid package‚ citing the bill’s lack of “real” border security provisions. Last week‚ Republicans rejected the foreign aid package’s border security provisions‚ arguing that they did little to address and prevent the ongoing illegal immigration crisis. Johnson said the Senate “did the right thing” in rejecting the “insufficient” border provisions‚ but added that senators “should have gone back to the drawing board” to change the bill and address the “ongoing catastrophe.” The $95 billion foreign aid package passed by the Senate includes funding for Ukraine‚ Israel‚ Taiwan‚ and other foreign priorities. President Joe Biden blamed Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday for the death of opposition leader Alexei Navalny in a remote Arctic prison. Navalny‚ a frequent critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin‚ was in prison after being convicted on charges of “extremism” and sentenced to 19 years in prison. Russia’s Federal Penitentiary Service said that Navalny felt sick after going on a walk and soon after lost consciousness and died. During a brief press conference from the White House‚ Biden said that Navalny “bravely stood up to the corruption‚ the violence‚ and all the bad things that Putin was doing.” “In response‚ Putin had him poisoned. He had him arrested. He had him prosecuted for fabricated crimes. He sends him to prison. He was held in isolation. Even all that didn’t stop him from calling out Putin’s lies‚” Biden said. “Even in prison‚ he was a powerful voice for the truth‚ which is kind of amazing when you think about it. And he could have lived safely in exile after the assassination attempt on him in 2020‚ which nearly killed him I might add … instead‚ he returned to Russia.” “Russian authorities are going to tell their own story. But make no mistake‚ make no mistake‚ Putin is responsible for Navalny’s death. Putin is responsible‚” Biden continued. “What has happened to Navalny is yet more proof of Putin’s brutality. No one should be fooled — not in Russia‚ not at home‚ not anywhere in the world — Putin does not only target citizens of other countries … He also inflicts terrible crimes of his own people.” Biden then used Navalny’s death to make political attacks against Republicans‚ demanding that the House of Representatives pass his foreign aid bill to fund Ukraine. The Kremlin has denied any responsibility for his poisoning‚ but United States intelligence officials have said they believe Russia was responsible. Navalny frequently faced criminal charges during his career in Russian politics‚ which he said were motivated because of his opposition to Putin. Navalny founded the Anti-Corruption Foundation‚ which was dissolved in Russia in 2021‚ to expose corruption by high-ranking Russian officials and challenge the United Russia Party’s control over the country’s political system. President Joe Biden called on House Republicans to drop their impeachment inquiry into him on Friday after an informant who gave the FBI information about alleged corruption involving the Biden family was charged this week for lying to federal authorities. Special Counsel David Weiss charged Alexander Smirnov with 18 U.S.C. § 1001: false statement‚ and 18 U.S.C. § 1519: creating a false and fictitious record‚ related to allegedly false information that he gave to his FBI handler about Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden’s alleged business dealings with Ukrainian natural gas company Burisma. “An FBI informant at the center of the impeachment inquiry into you has been indicted for allegedly lying‚” a reporter said to Biden. “Your reaction to that and should the inquiry be dropped?” “He is lying and it should be dropped‚” Biden responded. “And it’s just been an‚ it’s been an outrageous effort from the beginning. We did nothing. He was arrested on Thursday at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas after arriving in the U.S. from overseas. Smirnov provided information to the handler that he knew was being used in various criminal investigations conducted by the FBI. The indictment says that he was authorized by U.S. authorities to engage in certain criminal activity for the sake of assisting law enforcement in their investigations. Smirnov “provided false derogatory information to the FBI” about Joe Biden after he became a candidate for president in 2020‚ the indictment says. CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP The indictment laid out the story that Smirnov told his handler: Three years later‚ in June 2020‚ the Defendant reported‚ for the first time‚ two meetings in 2015 and/or 2016‚ during the Obama-Biden Administration‚ in which he claimed executives associated with Burisma‚ including Burisma Official 1‚ admitted to him that they hired [Hunter Biden] to “protect us‚ through his dad‚ from all kinds of problems‚” and later that they had specifically paid $5 million each to [then-Vice President Joe Biden] and [Hunter Biden]‚ when [Joe Biden] was still in office‚ so that “[Hunter Biden] will take care of all those issues through his dad‚” referring to a criminal investigation being conducted by the then-Ukrainian Prosecutor General into Burisma and to “deal with [the then-Ukrainian Prosecutor General].” [Smirnov] also reported two purported phone calls between himself and Burisma Official 1 wherein Burisma Official 1 stated that he had been forced to pay [Joe Biden] and [Hunter Biden] and that it would take investigators 10 years to find records of illicit payments to [Joe Biden]. The indictment said that the allegations that Smirnov provided to his handler in June 2020 were “fabrications.” “In truth and fact‚ [Smirnov] had contact with executives from Burisma in 2017‚ after the end of the Obama-Biden Administration and after the then Ukrainian Prosecutor General had been fired in February 2016‚ in other words‚ when [Joe Biden] had no ability to influence U.S. policy and when the Prosecutor General was no longer in office‚” the indictment states. “In short‚ [Smirnov] transformed his routine and unextraordinary business contacts with Burisma in 2017 and later into bribery allegations against [Joe Biden]‚ the presumptive nominee of one of the two major political parties for President‚ after expressing bias against [Joe Biden] and his candidacy.”

As businesses flee Washington‚ D.C.‚ due to rising crime‚ Democrats have fought back against plans for two of its professional sports teams to leave D.C. for Virginia.  Mayor Muriel Bowser (D-D.C.) has pushed for the NBA’s Washington Wizards and the NHL’s Washington Capitals to stay in the city after Monumental Sports and Entertainment‚ the organization that owns both teams‚ announced plans last year to move the franchises to Virginia. The move has been promoted by Governor Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) who wants to help finance the move‚ but some Democrats in the Virginia state Senate are attempting to kill the measure.  Both teams play at the Capital One Arena‚ an area that has not been immune to rising crime in recent years. Ted Leonsis‚ the CEO of Monumental Sports‚ has reportedly been concerned about crime in the area for months and said moving to Virginia is a wise business decision.  According to police data‚ there were 168 more incidents of crime in the area within 1‚000 feet of the arena in the last two years compared to the two previous years. This included seven sex abuse crimes‚ 15 assaults with a dangerous weapon‚ 51 robberies‚ 136 thefts from cars‚ 64 stolen cars‚ and a homicide. The data show that incidents of violent crime have more than doubled comparing the last two years from the previous two.  D.C. Police statistics. Two minors have been charged in connection to the deadly shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade earlier this week‚ authorities announced on Friday. The two juveniles‚ who police did not identify‚ were charged on Thursday and are being held on gun-related and resisting arrest charges at a juvenile facility‚ The New York Post reported. A third minor was let go on Thursday after investigators determined that person was not involved in the shooting‚ according to a Kansas City Police Department spokesman. “It is anticipated that additional charges are expected in the future as the investigation by the Kansas City Police Department continues‚” the Jackson County‚ Missouri‚ Family Court Division said in a statement. A 43-year-old woman was killed and more than 20 people‚ including 11 children‚ were injured when gunfire erupted near Union Station in Kansas City on Wednesday‚ turning a celebration into a nightmare. KC Police Chief Stacey Graves said at a news conference on Thursday that authorities’ initial findings on the shooting “have shown there was no nexus to terrorism or homegrown violent extremism.” “This appeared to be a dispute between several people that ended in gunfire‚” Graves said. Police detained three people immediately following the shooting and recovered firearms from the scene. More than 800 law enforcement officers were in and around Union Station when the shots rang out. Video posted on social media showed multiple parade goers tackling a man who was running through the crowd immediately after the shooting. The bystanders pinned the man down for around 30 seconds before police officers arrived. One witness also said she saw a gun fall away from the man as he was tackled to the ground.
