What Is Alaskapox? First Death From Mysterious Virus Reported In Alaska

A person in Alaska has died after falling sick with a rare virus known as Alaskapox. The fatal case was an elderly man with a weakened immune system who lived in the Kenai Peninsula of Southcentral Alaska.According to a bulletin from the Alaska Department of Health‚ he first sought medical attention in mid-September 2023 after noticing a tender red papule under his right arm. Over the next 6 weeks‚ he visited the emergency department several times for clinical evaluation of the lesion and was prescribed multiple antibiotics‚ but his condition worsened. After continuing to experience fatigue and increased pain in his shoulder‚ he was hospitalized in Anchorage on November 17. While trying to diagnose the mystery illness‚ a lesion swab was submitted to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)‚ which found he was infected with the Alaskapox virus (AKPV).The immunocompromised patient died of complications from the infection in late January 2024.Some clues may indicate how the man became infected with Alaskapox. The man lived alone in a forested area‚ reported no recent travel‚ and had no close contacts with recent travel‚ illness‚ or similar lesions. Research by the CDC has indicated that AKPV is present in at least four different species of small mammals that live in the state‚ including shrews and red-backed voles. Before his death‚ he reported caring for a stray cat at his residence that regularly hunted small mammals. He also said the cat frequently scratched him‚ including one notable scratch near his right shoulder just a month before his rash emerged. What is Alaskapox?Alaskapox is a virus that was first documented in 2015 in a woman who lived near Fairbanks in Alaska‚ US. It’s part of the Orthopoxvirus genus‚ which includes several species of viruses that can cause other diseases in humans such as smallpox‚ cowpox‚ horsepox‚ camelpox‚ and mpox.Prior to this latest fatal case‚ six AKPV infections had been reported to the Alaska Section of Epidemiology‚ as of December 2023. All of these reported infections occurred in residents of the Fairbanks area‚ which is a considerable distance from the Kenai Peninsula. Fortunately‚ all cases managed to full recovery. The symptoms of their self-limiting illness involved a localized skin rash and swollen lymph nodes.Symptoms of AlaskapoxTypical symptoms of Alaskapox include a skin lesion‚ as well as swollen lymph nodes and joint or muscle pain‚ according to the State of Alaska. They added that people with the infection often mistake the skin lesion for a bug bite. Can people with Alaskapox infect other people? As it stands‚ there is currently no evidence that the Alaskapox virus can spread from person to person.Alaskapox virus primarily occurs in small mammals. While health authorities are not totally sure how the virus spreads from animals to people‚ it is evident that many people with the infection have contact with small mammals or natural environments where wild animals might live. What should I do if I think I have Alaskapox? If you suspect you might have an Alaskapox infection‚ you should take care to keep the lesion covered and avoid touching it. People should also seek medical attention as soon as possible.Healthcare providers are advised to contact the Alaska Section of Epidemiology at 907-269-8000 and take photos of the lesion. All “explainer” articles are confirmed by fact checkers to be correct at time of publishing. Move Over Mediterranean Diet: The Atlantic Diet’s In Town

Move Over Mediterranean Diet: The Atlantic Diet’s In Town

Many people will be familiar with the Mediterranean diet – your doctor might even have recommended you try it out. Inspired by the traditional cuisine of regions along the Mediterranean coast‚ the combination of lean meat‚ seafood‚ nuts and seeds‚ olive oil‚ and plenty of fruits and vegetables has been associated with many health benefits. But the world of nutrition is ever evolving‚ and now there’s a new kid on the block: the Atlantic diet. What is the Atlantic diet?Instead of focusing on the food of sunny Southern Europe‚ the Atlantic diet instead takes its inspiration from traditional cuisine found in northern Portugal and the northwestern Spanish autonomous community of Galicia. It’s not a million miles away from the Mediterranean diet‚ with lots of fruits‚ veggies‚ and whole grains as well as seafood‚ but there are some differences. Most notably‚ an Atlantic diet would typically contain more dairy and starchy carbohydrates‚ such as bread and potatoes. And there’s more good news: moderate consumption of red wine is also recommended. The diet emphasizes using local‚ minimally processed produce wherever possible‚ and typically relies on simple cooking methods such as grilling‚ baking‚ and stewing. What are the benefits of the Atlantic diet?As well as searching for ways to improve our health‚ nutrition and dietetics professionals are also interested in the environmental impact of the food we eat.Seeking to address both of these questions simultaneously‚ a recent study reported on a 6-month randomized clinical trial of the Atlantic diet that took place in Spain between 2014 and 2015.Data from 231 families were included‚ with a roughly even split between those following the diet and the control group. The diet group were given access to nutrition counseling to help them adapt to the requirements of the Atlantic diet‚ whereas the control group were advised to maintain their usual routine. In terms of health‚ the study assessed the impact of following an Atlantic diet on indicators of metabolic syndrome (MetS). This is an umbrella term for a physiological state that puts someone at higher risk of conditions like type 2 diabetes and heart disease‚ and it’s been associated with obesity‚ a sedentary lifestyle‚ overconsumption of alcohol‚ and smoking‚ among other factors. On this point‚ the Atlantic diet performed quite well. Of the 457 participants who did not have MetS at the start of the trial‚ 23 of them went on to develop it during the follow-up period. Of these‚ 17 were in the control group‚ and just six were in the diet group‚ a statistically significant difference. A small number of people in both groups who had previously met the criteria for MetS no longer did by the end of the trial.Looking at individual indicators‚ the Atlantic diet was associated with reduced waist circumference and lower “bad” cholesterol. Participants following the diet were also 42 percent less likely to have a new symptom of MetS by the end of the trial. On the environmental question‚ the results were less persuasive. “There was no statistically significant difference in the reduction in dietary carbon footprint emissions in the intervention group compared with the control group‚” the paper reports. What’s the verdict? The Atlantic diet may not be a panacea to all our medical and environmental woes‚ but the study participants did experience some positive health benefits – is it worth the hype?“The takeaway is if people generally follow a plant-based diet – high in vegetables‚ fruit‚ healthy sources of fat‚ legumes and protein – it can improve a variety of risk factors for several chronic diseases‚” dietician Dr Tracy Crane‚ from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine‚ told Healthline. Whether that’s the Mediterranean diet‚ the Atlantic diet‚ or some combination that better suits your personal preferences‚ the benefits are likely to be similar.Another important factor in this particular study was that families followed the diet together. “By prioritizing shared meals and dietary habits within the family unit‚ individuals are more likely to adhere to healthier eating patterns‚” registered dietitian nutritionist Michelle Routhenstein explained to Healthline. The authors said that their work “provides important contributions to the field‚” emphasizing the strengths of the randomized design and objective measures‚ but also highlighted limitations‚ such as a short follow-up period and a lack of statistical power for the environmental data.Overall‚ though‚ they conclude that traditional diets‚ like the Mediterranean and Atlantic diets‚ are not to be sniffed at.“These findings suggest that traditional diets could serve as valuable tools to promote the convergence of human and planetary health‚ making them noteworthy models of sustainable and healthy dietary patterns.”The study is published in Jama Network Open.

Five New Species Of Fabulous Eyelash Vipers Discovered In Remote Colombia And Ecuador

A single species of eyelash viper already sounds cool – the prominent spiny scales above their eyes give them a distinctive and‚ dare we say it‚ iconic look. Now‚ after a decade-long study‚ the number of species is about to multiply‚ as researchers have discovered that what was thought to be one species of eyelash viper is‚ in fact‚ five. The trigger to this discovery was one of the study’s authors‚ Lucas Bustamante‚ being bitten by a member of one of the new species – not much fun for the researcher we imagine‚ but great news for science. The team also found that the “lashes” seen on vipers appeared to vary in length and style across different populations‚ suggesting that what was believed to be the eyelash palm-pit viper (Bothriechis schlegelii) could actually be more than one species. From that point on‚ the researchers spent 10 years examining museum specimens‚ locality records‚ and DNA data relating to individual eyelash vipers found in the cloud forests and jungles of Colombia and Ecuador.Black-and-yellow morph of Hussain’s eyelash pit viper.Image credit: Alejandro Arteaga (CC BY)Their analysis revealed what is likely a complex of five very similar‚ but distinct‚ species of eyelash viper. Shah’s (B. rasikusumorum)‚ Klebba’s (B. klebbai)‚ and Khwarg’s eyelash pit viper (B. khwargi) are thought to be endemic to the eastern Cordillera of Colombia‚ found amongst cloud forests and coffee plantations. Rahim’s (Bothriechis rahimi) eyelash pit viper‚ on the other hand‚ is located at the border between Colombia and Ecuador in the Chocó rainforest‚ whilst Hussain’s (B. hussaini) is found in the forests bordering Ecuador and Peru. All of the species are considered to be polychromatic‚ meaning they come in a dazzling array of colors that are theorized to allow them to blend into a variety of ambush spots. Even within the same species‚ it’s possible to find a turquoise‚ gold‚ and even “ghost” morph. “No two individuals have the same coloration‚ even those belonging to the same litter (yes‚ they give birth to live young)‚” said Alejandro Arteaga‚ who led the study‚ in a statement.Coffee morph of Klebba's eyelash pit viper.Image credit: Elson Meneses (CC BY)As well as being pretty‚ the vipers also pack a punch. All of the new species are venomous – though thankfully for Bustamante‚ not quite as much as some of their relations. “The venom of some (perhaps all?) of the new species of vipers is considerably less lethal and hemorrhagic than that of the typical Central American Eyelash-Viper‚” said Bustamante‚ who was bitten back in 2013.“I experienced intermittent local pain‚ dizziness and swelling‚ but recovered shortly after receiving three doses of antivenom in less than two hours after the bite‚ with no scar left behind.”Though the variety of colors and a nip to a researcher’s finger might be exciting parts of the story‚ the key message from the researchers is that the new species need to be protected; four out of the five are considered at high risk of extinction.   “The need to protect eyelash vipers is critical‚ since unlike other snakes‚ they cannot survive without adequate canopy cover‚” said Arteaga. “Their beauty‚ though worthy of celebration‚ should also be protected and monitored carefully‚ as poachers are notorious for targeting charismatic arboreal vipers for the illegal pet trade of exotic wildlife.”It’s hoped that further research‚ particularly into the venom of the new species‚ will help to bring awareness to the situation and encourage the conservation of this colorful and unique group of reptiles. The study is published in the journal Evolutionary Systematics.

Why Some People Call The Solar System’s Edge “The Wall Of Fire”

Why Some People Call The Solar System’s Edge “The Wall Of Fire”

The heliopause‚ the region where the solar wind’s influence stops and interstellar space begins‚ has been called a “Wall of Fire” surrounding the Solar System. The name is hyperbolic and technically inaccurate‚ but it does point to a remarkable discovery that was one of the major achievements for the Voyager missions. The Voyager spacecraft have been through so much‚ it is astonishing that one of them is still operating and that hopes remain for restoring the other. However‚ a “Wall of Fire” sounds like a tougher test than everything they have survived put together‚ more a rhetorical proof of dedication than something a space probe should have to navigate.Nevertheless‚ that’s the phrase some people have used to describe the heliopause‚ and a first sight they have a case. After all‚ the plucky probes measured temperatures of 30‚000-50‚000 kelvin (54‚000-90‚000 degrees Fahrenheit) on their passage through the heliopause‚ which makes Earthly fires cool by comparison.Of course‚ there is no literal fire in the sense of fuel undergoing combustion by reacting with oxygen. Like the Sun‚ the heliopause is composed of hot plasma. Still‚ passing through the heliopause was nothing like encountering the Sun; not even the solar corona. The reason the two craft didn’t vaporize‚ let alone malfunction‚ is that the density of material outside the bounds of the solar wind is unfathomably low. To understand how something so far from the Sun can be so hot‚ and also why that hasn’t affected the first craft to enter it‚ it’s important to understand a little about the physics of heat.Temperature is a measure of the speed with which atoms and molecules vibrate. It takes energy to create faster vibrations. Once the speed of vibrations has increased‚ irrespective of the source of that energy‚ they are more likely to bump into anything nearby‚ and to transfer some of that energy to what they hit. Consequently‚ if you stick your hand into hot gas‚ the fast-moving molecules will collide with it so that very soon your hand will be very hot as well. (Do we need to say‚ “Don’t try this at home”?)The fewer molecules there are‚ the less energy it takes to get them moving very fast‚ but also the less chance an intruding solid object will run into them. Without such meetings‚ energy can’t be transferred‚ and the new arrival will stay cool. That’s the situation the Voyager probes are in‚ as will be the case for future spacecraft leaving the Solar System. The heliopause may be denser than the space on either side‚ partially justifying the description as a “wall”‚ but it’s still more of a vacuum than the innards of the thing you use to clean your house. Even if the few molecules present are moving phenomenally fast – and therefore at a very high temperature – they won’t be able to heat up something as substantial as the Voyagers‚ which weigh 722 kilograms (1‚600 pounds) each. This still leaves the question of how those sparse atoms and molecules got so hot in the first place. The heliopause had been expected to be hot‚ but previous estimates were about half as high as those the Voyagers measured‚ demonstrating again the pair’s great value. The solar wind within the heliosphere is hot‚ having had little opportunity to shed its energy‚ but the interstellar medium outside the heliopause is cold‚ so we might expect the boundary to be somewhere in between. Instead‚ the heliopause is much hotter than either. The temperatures the Voyagers measured have been attributed to either compression of the plasma when the solar wind encounters the interstellar medium or magnetic reconnection. Reconnection occurs in electrically conducting plasmas when rearrangement of the structure of the field causes magnetic energy to be converted to fast-moving waves‚ thermal energy‚ and particle acceleration. Magnetic reconnection has been witnessed where the magnetic fields around the Earth and other planets encounter the solar wind. Despite its name it can refer to connected magnetic fields disconnecting‚ as well as disconnected fields reuniting.

Shark-Ray Hybrid? Aquarium Suggests Shark May Have Impregnated Its Lone Stingray

There's a bit of a mystery going on at the Aquarium and Shark Lab in Hendersonville‚ North Carolina‚ after a stingray became pregnant despite no male stingrays being present. While an interesting mystery in its own right‚ the case has drawn extra attention after suggestions by the head of the aquarium that the stingray could have been impregnated by a shark."Our stingray‚ Charlotte‚ is expecting! We have held this close to our hearts for over 3 months‚" Team ECCO‚ which runs the aquarium‚ announced on Facebook alongside ultrasound scans. "The really amazing thing [i]s we have no male ray!"                          There are of course a few options for how rays could become pregnant without the presence of a male. Some species of ray can store sperm for later use‚ but no male stingrays have been kept in the tank with Charlotte at all‚ Brenda Ramer‚ founder and executive director of Team ECCO‚ told ABC 13 News. However‚ there were males of another species in there with her‚ leading to the unlikely (but not completely out of the realms of possibility) claim that a shark could have impregnated her."In mid-July 2023‚ we moved two 1-year-old white spot bamboo males (sharks) into that tank. There was nothing we could find definitively about their maturation rate‚ so we did not think there would be an issue‚" said Ramer. "We started to notice bite marks on Charlotte‚ but saw other fish nipping at her‚ so we moved fish‚ but the biting continued."During mating‚ male sharks – including bamboo sharks – bite the females in order to get into position‚ suggesting to the team that this might be an explanation. Hybrids are possible‚ though generally between two genetically similar species that have not long diverged‚ and there are no documented cases of sharks breeding with stingrays."I'm going to stop this misinfo in its tracks‚" Dr Noah Bressman‚ assistant professor of physiology at Salisbury University‚ explained on Bluesky. "Sharks [and] rays are as distantly related as humans [and] snakes‚ so a snake knocking up a human is just as likely as a shark knocking up a ray."Hybrids of species that parted ways long ago have been discovered‚ though they are incredibly rare. In 2020‚ a team found a hybrid of an American paddlefish and a Russian sturgeon‚ two species that last shared an ancestor in the Jurassic era.But there is a much more likely explanation for the mystery. Though rays can reproduce sexually‚ in rarer cases they can develop an embryo without fertilization‚ known as parthenogenesis‚ a term which stems from the Greek words for “virgin birth”. Birth by this method‚ though still uncommon‚ happens every now and then. In fact‚ one shark at the aquarium has given birth via parthenogenesis 14 times. Though it is rarer in rays‚ it is still much more likely than what would be the first known hybrid of this kind. Either way‚ it's still exciting‚ and we will have our answer soon‚ with the ray expected to give birth by the end of the week‚ and the team planning DNA tests on the pups afterward."We're either going to have partho babies‚" Ramer added‚ "or we're going to have some kind of a potential mixed breed‚ and we're waiting for Jeff Goldblum to show up because we are Jurassic Park right now!"

The Terrifying Case of the Dawstone Road Demon

The Terrifying Case of the Dawstone Road Demon

In winter 1961‚ a Neston motorist was taken unconscious to Clatterbridge Hospital after crashing through a six-foot sandstone wall on Dawstone Road‚ Heswall. When he regained his senses in hospital‚ he told a surgeon that ‘some thing – some horrible devil’ had appeared on Dawstone Road and he had tried to brake in time but the entity had been as immovable as a tree and seemed to push the car sideways into the wall. There was not a drop of alcohol in the crash victim’s blood‚ but the same old stock explanations were trotted out in an effort to dismiss the man’s strange claims: it had been a trick of the light‚ he’d hit a fox‚ he’d momentarily dozed off and dreamed the “devil” and so on. The man was discharged from hospital a few days later – but there were other incidents on Dawstone Road later that year. In March‚ 23-year-old Rory‚ a Wallasey man on a motorbike was travelling down a moonlit Baskervyle Road at around 11:20pm and upon reaching the junction at Dawstone Road saw a towering shadowy figure stride out from some bushes and stop directly in front of him. Rory could not stop in time. The suicidal jaywalker must have been about seven feet in height‚ and he seized the handlebars of the motorcycle – which was travelling at about 35 mph – and with immense strength he swung the heavy bike onto the pavement. Rory was thrown against the sandstone wall‚ and only for the crash helmet the young man wore‚ the Wallasey man’s head would have smashed like an egg against that wall. He was left out cold‚ and recalled something very strange when he was later treated for severe concussion at hospital. Rory had briefly regained consciousness and had seen the terrifying face of a horned man with pointed ears looking at him with luminous eyes. The apparition said something about Rory escaping the pit‚ and then he blacked out again. This was the second modern encounter with a devil-like entity on Dawstone Road. Further back in time‚ in November 1934‚ a posse of locals had hunted a demonic entity which had been seen prowling Dawstone Road and was believed to have come from a mansion off the road with tall iron gates. The locals called there‚ accusing a well-to-do man of sorcery‚ and he laughingly told the mob that the so-called “monster” they had seen was nothing more than his broad‚ white-chested bulldog which was always escaping from the gardens of the mansion. The story was even reported in The Sunday Mirror and the article portrayed the locals of the Heswall neighbourhood as superstitious fools‚ but a policeman who had seen the demon asked how a ‘broad’ bulldog could slip through the bars of the gates of the mansion. The demonic being‚ described by some as a tall horned creature of immense strength‚ vanished into obscurity for a few years‚ but was seen again during the war around 1941. Some were of the opinion that the devil was pure folklore‚ whilst others‚ including a respected doctor‚ believed the thing existed‚ but a priest who was asked to tackle the unearthly being refused to get involved and seemed to suggest that the only thing demonic about the so-called devil was the demon drink that had probably produced it. A demon is a catch-all term applied to a non-human spirit which has malicious intentions and tries to control or harm humans by physically attacking them or possessing their bodies and minds. The thing that seemed hellbent (no pun intended) on causing crashes on Dawstone Road still has a question mark hanging over its nature and origin. In 1969‚ Patrick and Brian‚ two Heswall men in their thirties‚ left a party on Delavor Road and Patrick decided to drive home to South Drive‚ where his friend Brian also lived. Brian advised his friend to stay overnight at the house on Delavor Road because they were both drunk‚ but Patrick insisted he was more than capable of making a five-minute trip in his Hillman Imp. A few minutes into the journey‚ as the car turned onto Dawstone Road‚ the engine of the Hillman Imp sputtered and the vehicle stalled. Patrick got out the car and walked unsteadily to the bonnet‚ and Brian shouted after him‚ ‘The engine’s in the back! I knew you were sloshed.’ ‘Simple mistake‚ mush‚’ replied Patrick‚ and he stopped‚ steadied himself by leaning on the roof of the vehicle‚ then turned and went to the back of the‚ car‚ but then he realised he’d left the key to the trunk in the Hillman – the key was still in the ignition. ‘Brian‚ can you bring me the keys out?’ Patrick shouted‚ but there was no reply. Patrick heard Brian swear and yell something‚ and then the Hillman Imp went backwards as if it had been hit by a car. Patrick was hit by the rear of the vehicle and went flying into the road. He got up‚ disoriented‚ and saw his car on the pavement with the passenger door open‚ and Brian was running off into the distance. As Patrick picked himself up off the cold tar macadam he saw a car’s headlights approach and prayed it was not the police. It was a Jaguar driven by Bernie‚ a friend of Patrick who had been at the same party. Bernie saw the Hillman Imp on the pavement and asked what was going on‚ and Patrick said: ‘That idiot Brian must have started the car and put it in reverse as I was behind it! The car hit me as it went backwards.’ Bernie checked the car and saw the engine was still dead and it was in neutral – not reverse. Bernie knew a little about cars but said a loose wire on the solenoid had caused the problem and got the Hillman Imp running again. The following day at 2pm Brian called around to Patrick and said that a terrifying thing – a tall man in black with horns and red glowing eyes had appeared in front of the Hillman Imp last night and as Patrick had been asking for the keys to the trunk‚ the creature had pushed the car backwards with terrific strength. Patrick could not accept the story and accused Brian of causing what could have been a fatal accident by meddling with the gear stick‚ but Brian said he would be prepared to swear on “a stack of Bibles” to prove he was telling the truth. In 2010 a nurse called me on a radio programme to say how‚ one morning around 5:30am in May 1978‚ after a gruelling night shift‚ she had been driving home via Dawstone Road and had seen a man who looked as if he was wearing a black leathery one piece suit and a pair of horns‚ standing in the road. Nearby in the road there was a hole‚ about ten feet across‚ and reddish light was shining from it. The nurse thought there was a fire in the hole and gave it a wide berth as she drove around it. The window in the car was down a few inches‚ and as the nurse passed the bizarrely-dressed man and that hole with the fire in it‚ she heard a ghastly cacophony of what sounded like people screaming and wailing‚ and the sound seemed to come from that hole. The incident stuck in the nurse’s mind for years. An occultist once told me that there are places on this earth where demons have portals that lead to Hell and these portals open now and then and people – mostly bad individuals – are cast down into them‚ where they live a tormented existence in what is called a “Pit of Damned Souls”. These unfortunate people then join that group of individuals who are often reported in the newspapers as having vanished without a trace. Pentagon has a video of a UFO that shot down a nuclear missile

Have you ever heard of the UFO that allegedly shot down a nuclear missile in 1964? If not‚ you’re not alone. This is one of the most intriguing and controversial cases in UFO history‚ and yet it remains largely unknown to the public. The story begins on September 15th‚ 1964‚ at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California‚ where a team of US Air Force officers was conducting a test launch of an Atlas F missile. The missile was unarmed‚ but it was designed to simulate a nuclear warhead. One of the officers involved in the test was Lieutenant Bob Jacobs‚ who was in charge of filming the missile’s flight using a special high-speed camera. He was stationed at Big Sur‚ about 160 miles away from the launch site. Another officer was Major Florenze Mansmann‚ who was the optical instrumentation officer at Vandenberg. He was responsible for analyzing the film footage after the test. What they saw on the film would change their lives forever. According to Jacobs and Mansmann‚ the film showed a saucer-shaped object flying near the missile after it had separated from its booster. The object then emitted a beam of light that struck the missile‚ causing it to tumble and malfunction. The object then circled around the missile and fired another beam‚ before flying away at high speed. Jacobs and Mansmann were stunned by what they had witnessed. They had no idea what the object was‚ or what its intentions were. Was it trying to prevent a nuclear war? Was it testing its own weapons? Was it simply curious? They never got a chance to find out. Shortly after they viewed the film‚ two men in civilian clothes arrived at Vandenberg and confiscated it. They claimed to be from the CIA‚ and they warned Jacobs and Mansmann not to speak about what they had seen‚ or face severe consequences. The film was never seen again. For decades‚ Jacobs and Mansmann kept silent about their encounter‚ fearing for their careers and their safety. They only came forward in the 1980s‚ when they were contacted by Robert Hastings‚ an author and researcher who had been investigating UFO sightings at nuclear facilities. Hastings had learned about the incident from other sources‚ and he wanted to corroborate it with Jacobs and Mansmann. He also wanted to find out if there was any chance of recovering the film. To his surprise‚ he discovered that there might be a copy of the film somewhere in the Pentagon. He learned this from Luis Elizondo‚ a former director of the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP)‚ a secret Pentagon program that studied UFOs and other aerial phenomena. Elizondo told Hastings that he had seen the film himself‚ and that it was stored in a secure vault in AATIP’s offices. He also confirmed the details of what Jacobs and Mansmann had described‚ and said that the object was clearly not of human origin. However‚ Elizondo could not provide Hastings with access to the film‚ as he had left AATIP in 2017 and no longer had clearance. He also said that AATIP was under threat of being shut down by skeptical officials who did not see any value in studying UFOs. Hastings has been trying to obtain the film ever since‚ but he has faced many obstacles and delays. He believes that the film is still somewhere in the Pentagon‚ but he does not know if it will ever be released to the public. He hopes that someday‚ the truth will come out about what happened on September 15th‚ 1964‚ and what it means for humanity. Until then‚ we can only wonder: What was that UFO? And why did it zap a nuclear missile? The post Pentagon has a video of a UFO that shot down a nuclear missile appeared first on Anomalien.com.
