CNBC’s Steve Liesman Wears the Clown Nose With Latest Good Inflation Report for Trump

It’s one of the most amusing aspects of MRC Business’s day-to-day routine when staff watch liberal media talking heads forced to eat crow over their blind adamancy that President Donald Trump is going to wreck the economy. CNBC senior economics reporter Steve Liesman is the latest to be found wearing the clown nose. The Bureau of Labor Statistics released its latest report on consumer prices finding that inflation had risen noticeably less than expected on a month-to-month basis in May by 0.1 percent against economists’ expectations of a 0.2 percent increase. Core inflation — which excludes volatile food and energy prices — was even more telling, having risen 0.1 percent on a month-to-month basis and 2.8 percent on the year-to-year, also upending expectations by experts of a 0.3 percent and 2.9 percent increase respectively. Liesman summarized during the June 11 edition of CNBC’s Squawk Box that “Not only did we get a decline in inflation expectations earlier this week from the important New York Fed report,” he did “not see broader impacts on inflation from the tariffs.” Of course, he was still clinging to the idea that the Trump price spikes are just around the corner, but previous jabs he made at Trump’s economic policies on MSNBC now make him look utterly foolish. During the April 4 edition of MSNBC’s All In with Chris Hayes, Liesman mocked Trump for his trade war, which he claimed was the equivalent of intentionally crashing the Titanic: And I guess another way to think about it is this. You know, the Titanic hit an iceberg by accident. This is the equivalent of steering the Titanic towards the iceberg … The adults have left the room. How now, brown cow?  Adding to Liesman’s optics obliteration is the recent news that a trade deal between Trump and geopolitical foe China has been reached. "Our deal with China is done, subject to final approval with President Xi and me," Trump wrote in a June 11 Truth Social post. "Full magnets, and any necessary rare earths, will be supplied, up front, by China.” Not bad for a situation where “adults have left the room,” eh Liesman? Also, the New York Federal Reserve report that Liesman alluded to in his June 11 CNBC appearance is another blow to his image. For all the Liesman bluster about Trump crashing the Titanic, the New York Fed noted June 9 that “households’ inflation expectations declined at the short-, medium-, and longer-term horizons.” In addition, wrote the Fed, “Consumers’ recent pessimism about the labor market eased somewhat, while consumer debt delinquency expectations and expectations about one’s household financial situation improved slightly.”  There’s so much crow to be found here that Liesman will probably have to make two trips to finish eating it all.

Schwarzenegger Blames Riots on Lack of 'Comprehensive Immigration Reform'

Actor and former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger joined ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel to promote season two of Netflix’s FUBAR, but the duo could not resist talking about the LA riots. Both men insisted everything has been blown way out of proportion, but Schwarzenegger also claimed the violence has been the result of politicians not passing “comprehensive immigration reform,” which he partly defined as giving citizenship to illegal immigrants. Schwarzenegger claimed, “I totally agree with you, by the way, Jimmy. They make it out to—like it's some war zone, the whole, Los Angeles, the whole city or the county. And the fact of the matter is, it's maybe 0.001 percent of the area of Los Angeles has problems, and there's a protest.”     He declared that “I think this is important for people to know, because I don't want all of a sudden tourism to suffer in Los Angeles because what they see on television, because the media sometimes shows it as if the whole of Los Angeles is a big war zone, which really isn't really the case.” Kimmel agreed, “No. None of Los Angeles is a war zone.” Schwarzenegger then got around to playing the blame game, “But this wouldn't happen if the politicians would do their work. Think about it.” After Kimmel sought clarification on what he meant by that, Schwarzenegger continued, “For decades, almost four decades, we have had a problem where they talked about immigration reform. Comprehensive immigration reform. But the Democrats and the Republicans, both of the parties, have no interest in solving this problem because they use that to raise money.” If only there was an event four decades ago that soured conservatives on the idea of “comprehensive immigration reform.” Schwarzenegger then fell back on the fallacy of the center: And so what they do is they just keep pointing the finger at each other, and then they're surprised if all of a sudden we are using our middle finger on them, right? But I mean, it's all bogus, because I think that we can do better than that. Democrats and Republicans—you know, when they talk about Democrats and Republicans, even though I'm a Republican, I tell you, it is sometimes disappointing. And then I think even just when you look at the symbols of the party. Think about that. I mean, the Democrats, donkey. Republicans, elephant. And the donkey's a jackass. And of course, wherever the big animal goes, it leaves a pile of dump, right? I mean, it's—the symbols say it all. A few moments later, Kimmel again sought to clarify what Schwarzenegger meant by comprehensive immigration reform, asking, “But you know, but seriously, of course, there truly are families that are worried they're going to be deported. Do you think that people who have been in this country for 25 years and who have had no criminal activity whatsoever should be granted the rights of U.S. citizenship?”     Schwarzenegger affirmed it would, “Yes, and also we'd then be able to hand out more visas, temporary working permits, permanent working permits, the green card, citizenship, and all of those things. And we would know who comes into the United States rather than not knowing and having so many people here that they don't even know who they are, and what kind of criminal activities they're participating in, and all this.” He further mourned: So, it's a shame, the whole thing, because we have a country that needs workers. And when you look at south of the border, they want to work. So, it's a perfect match. But let's do it legal, and let's do it in a coherent way, rather than doing it the way now, which is a disaster. And I told you, that's what makes me so disappointed in both of the parties. That both of the parties do not want to go and solve this problem once and for all and create good immigration reform, the way, you know, like Senator Kennedy and John McCain worked it out, and they had a really great, great bill there. But then they didn't go for it. The problem is the same as it has always been. You can’t talk about offering citizenship to illegal immigrants without incentivizing a rush for the border, thus making the problem even worse. If Schwarzenegger wants to know why his brand of centrist-to-liberal Republicanism is dead, that is why. Here is a transcript for the June 11-taped show: ABC Jimmy Kimmel Live! 6/12/2025 12:13 AM ET ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER: I totally agree with you, by the way, Jimmy. They make it out to — like it's some war zone, the whole, Los Angeles, the whole city or the county. And the fact of the matter is, it's maybe 0.001 percent of the area of Los Angeles has problems, and there's a protest. JIMMY KIMMEL: Yeah. SCHWARZENEGGER: And so, I think this is important for people to know, because I don't want all of a sudden tourism to suffer in Los Angeles because what they see on television, because the media sometimes shows it as if the whole of Los Angeles is a big war zone, which really isn't really the case. KIMMEL: No. None of Los Angeles is a war zone. SCHWARZENEGGER: But this wouldn't happen if the politicians would do their work. Think about it. KIMMEL: Now, what do you mean by that, exactly? What do you mean by that? SCHWARZENEGGER: For decades, almost four decades, we have had a problem where they talked about immigration reform. Comprehensive immigration reform. But the Democrats and the Republicans, both of the parties, have no interest in solving this problem because they use that to raise money. And so what they do is they just keep pointing the finger at each other, and then they're surprised if all of a sudden we are using our middle finger on them, right? Do you think that people who have been in this country for 25 years and who have had no criminal activity whatsoever should be granted the rights of U.S. citizenship? SCHWARZENEGGER: Well, this is what I'm talking about, is immigration reform. Comprehensive immigration reform will address all these issues. KIMMEL: Will it do that? SCHWARZENEGGER: Yes, and also we'd then be able to hand out more visas, temporary working permits, permanent working permits, the green card, citizenship, and all of those things. And we would know who comes into the United States rather than not knowing and having so many people here that they don't even know who they are, and what kind of criminal activities they're participating in, and all this.  So, it's a shame, the whole thing, because we have a country that needs workers.

DOJ attorney resigns — but vows to keep fighting in Texas in major announcement on Glenn Beck show

Aaron Reitz, the former assistant attorney general for the Department of Justice's Office of Legal Policy, made a major announcement during an interview on "The Glenn Beck Program" Thursday morning after declaring his immediate resignation from his DOJ position the day before. He shared his resignation letters addressed to President Donald Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi in a post on social media on Wednesday afternoon.'Duty now calls me to continue that fight on a new front.'"My fight for Law, Order, Justice, and the Constitution continues in Texas. Thank you, @POTUS and @AGPamBondi for your leadership and for the privilege of serving our great nation under you," he wrote. In his resignation letters, Reitz hinted at waging a bold, new fight in Texas but stopped short of revealing the details of his next move.Reitz told Trump that the assistant attorney general role was "one of the finest honors of my life."RELATED: Pam Bondi opens federal investigation into EPIC Muslim community proposal in Texas, Cornyn says Aaron Reitz. "After much prayer and careful reflection, I have decided to resign from my position at the Justice Department, effective today, and to return home to Texas. In Texas, I will serve you, your Administration, and our America First movement in an even greater capacity."RELATED: Texas drops hammer on alleged vote-harvesting judge, officials after multi-year election crime probe Aaron Reitz. Tom Williams/CQ-Roll Call, Inc via Getty ImagesDuring a Thursday morning interview with Blaze Media co-founder Glenn Beck, Reitz revealed his next step, declaring his run for Texas attorney general. "I'm proud to share this news with Texans on your show for the first time," Reitz told Beck. "With Attorney General [Ken] Paxton now throwing his hat in the ring for the United States Senate, it's giving Texans a once-in-a-decade opportunity to put what President Trump called a true MAGA attorney and a warrior for the Constitution to succeed Paxton and keep his foot on the gas, to press in hard, on all of the things that Texans really care about."Reitz vowed to partner with President Donald Trump to "really hold the line" by investigating and litigating "blue state agitators," including George Soros-funded district attorneys, mayors, and nonprofits. Before his position at the DOJ, Reitz was chief of staff to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and deputy attorney general for legal strategy to Texas AG Paxton. While under Paxton, Reitz was described as Texas' "offensive coordinator," leading dozens of lawsuits against the Biden administration on matters concerning immigration, consumer protection, and election integrity. — (@) Like Blaze News? Glenn Beck announces a ‘new chapter’ for the next season of his life

About a year ago, Glenn Beck began feeling an unease creep in when he prayed.“I looked at everything that I was doing; I looked at my business; I looked at how we were doing things. … I looked at everything,” he says. But try as he might, he “couldn’t make sense” of this growing sensation that something “[wasn’t] right.”One day, it suddenly became clear to him: “It’s not just one thing that you're looking for, it's everything — everything is wrong.”“Not meaning that we're doing something wrong,” he clarifies. “It just means the time is over for many things. … Everything is going to change.”“I’ve been soul-searching now for a long time,” he says. “Today, I’m announcing a new chapter for me.” “When I first formulated what would become TheBlaze, it was 2009-2010, and Barack Obama was surrounding himself with the Marxist radicals — people who were former revolutionaries, people that were Islamicists,” he reflects.Glenn warned back then that in the coming days we would see “the socialist, the communist, the Islamist, and the anarchist … work together — not because they love each other but because they share a common enemy: the West.”He cautioned his audience about the order in which violence would come: “Israel would be the first target, then Europe, and then the violence would cascade and come here to America.”Although few took his warnings seriously, we’re now living out Glenn’s exact predictions. But it’s not all bad news. We’re also living in a time when the mainstream media has become the legacy media — replaced by independent journalists and bold podcasters who tell the truth the establishment tries to hide. Following his departure from Fox News, Glenn became one of the pioneers who sparked this new media movement — a movement that heavily impacted the last election and has forever changed the news landscape. He looks at Blaze Media today, which was in many ways built and maintained by his faithful audience, and says “mission accomplished.”But that doesn’t mean that Blaze Media has peaked. “I know what they're working on, and the Blaze is going to continue to grow and expand,” says Glenn. However, Glenn’s personal focus is shifting. But not to worry — "The Glenn Beck Program" will continue, "stronger than ever."This is “not a departure from the mission at the Blaze but an expansion of it, because while we have cracked the back, I think, of the corporate media, there's another system that is just as broken, just as corrupted, just as dangerous, and that is education,” he says.“It is my mission now, I believe, in the next chapter of my life to do for American education what we did to legacy media,” he explains. “What I'm building is something new — an expansion. It is a mission designed to spark a renaissance in how we teach and understand American history and civics and faith and service.”To hear more about what’s on the horizon, watch the clip above.Want more from Glenn Beck?To enjoy more of Glenn’s masterful storytelling, thought-provoking analysis, and uncanny ability to make sense of the chaos, subscribe to BlazeTV — the largest multi-platform network of voices who love America, defend the Constitution, and live the American dream.

Tim Walz grilled for comparing ICE agents to 'Nazi Gestapo'

During a Thursday hearing, former Democratic vice presidential candidate Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.) was brutally grilled by Republican lawmakers for his past comments likening Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to the "Nazi Gestapo."Walz appeared alongside Democratic Govs. JB Pritzker of Illinois and Kathy Hochul of New York to testify on sanctuary cities before the House Oversight Committee. During the hearing, Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) confronted Walz for comments he made during a commencement ceremony in May where he said, "Donald Trump's modern-day Gestapo is scooping folks up off the street."'Inflammatory rhetoric such as yours ... is responsible for putting a target on the back of every ICE agent who is risking their life to protect our communities.'The insinuation Walz made is that federal law enforcement agencies under the direction of President Donald Trump are like the Nazi secret police deployed by Adolf Hitler. "When you said the words 'modern-day Gestapo,' you were referring to ICE agents," Emmer said. "Gestapo, by the way, sir, was the official secret police of Hitler's Nazi Germany. So you're calling ICE agents modern-day Nazis."RELATED: Democrats vote overwhelmingly to allow illegal aliens to continue voting in key districtGovernor Walz’s comments comparing ICE agents to the Nazi Gestapo is SICKENING.ICE agents put their lives and safety on the line to arrest criminal illegal aliens let into our country. https://t.co/wUH9hilTRZ pic.twitter.com/QdxkxmQqcW— Homeland Security (@DHSgov) June 12, 2025 "Given the attacks on ICE agents that took place in Los Angeles over the weekend, don't you regard your dangerous, inflammatory rhetoric as a problem?" Emmer added. As Emmer pointed out, recent ICE raids in California have been met with violent riots, which he says have been incited by the extreme rhetoric of Walz and other leftist politicians. During these riots, ICE agents and other members of law enforcement have been attacked with rocks, have dealt with arsonists, and have even had details about their location leaked, compromising their safety.RELATED: Democrats overwhelmingly vote against resolution condemning anti-Semitic Boulder attack, while lone Republican votes present Allison Robbert/Bloomberg via Getty ImagesWalz stammered at Emmer's confrontation and failed to address his past comments. "It saddens me that you refuse to express regret from comparing ICE to Nazis," Emmer said. "ICE agents are brave Americans who get up every morning, leave their families, and put their lives in harm's way to protect our country, sir. You, at the very least, owe an apology to these dedicated public servants.""Inflammatory rhetoric such as yours, and the other governors on this panel, is responsible for putting a target on the back of every ICE agent who is risking their life to protect our communities." DHS posts 'foreign invaders' deportation meme — and liberals can't cope

The Trump administration has made memes an effective part of its messaging strategy on social media. The White House and various executive agencies have taken to humorously making points on their official pages with the aid of images pregnant with online or broader cultural significance. Humorless liberals invariably wig out, thereby drawing greater attention to the administration's message. For instance, the White House posted a Studio Ghibli-style AI cartoon of an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer arresting a caricature of a real illegal alien who had been convicted of drug trafficking. The March 27 post ruffled feathers at the Daily Beast and elsewhere on the left, and has since drawn over 75 million views on X.White House deputy communications director Kaelan Dorr told the Hill last month that digital outreach is "a very critical component of how much we keep the foot on the gas and how much we stay on offense."The Department of Homeland Security under Secretary Kristi Noem has recently put the pedal to the metal where its meme offensive is concerned, similarly prompting liberal meltdowns. One meme in particular caused vexation over at MSNBC.On Wednesday, the DHS posted a picture of Uncle Sam hanging a bulletin that says, "Help Your Country ... and Yourself." There is a message written below the bulletin in bold letters that states, "REPORT ALL FOREIGN INVADERS. ICE: 866-DHS-2-ICE."DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin noted earlier this month that Secretary Noem "is revamping ICE's illegal alien tip line to devote more resources and personnel to help remove these criminal illegal aliens from our country." RELATED: It's not a riot, it's an invasion Photo by Spencer Platt/Getty ImagesThe DHS posted the meme on X and on its other official social media channels with the caption, "Help your country locate and arrest illegal aliens."Following a prompt from C. Jay Engel of the Contra Mordor Substack, the meme was designed by X user @mrrobertwp, who tweeted after its reuse by the DHS, "It's far reaching fellas. We really hit it out of the park with this one." — (@) Tony Moon, a self-professed "rooftop Korean" who helped defend businesses during the 1992 Los Angeles riots, was among those who apparently appreciated the post, writing, "This was way overdue."'Diversity has been our strength.'Others weren't so keen, accusing the DHS of fascism and invoking Nazi Germany.MSNBC talking head Nicolle Wallace, fresh off reaffirming her belief that the Jan. 6, 2021, riot was an insurrection, expressed shock and disgust on Wednesday after seeing the image.Wallace said that she had "very mixed feelings" and told viewers that "your taxes are paying for this ad being disseminated on Elon Musk's platform, X."RELATED: Los Angeles is what 'America Last' looks like Photo by BENJAMIN HANSON/Middle East Images/AFP via Getty ImagesAfter reading the message in the meme, Wallace asked her guest, former Republican and retired Brigadier General Steve Anderson, "Did Vladimir Putin write that?""He might very well have. I'll tell you one foreign invader we can deal with is Elon Musk," said Anderson, referring to the American citizen who runs SpaceX and Tesla.Anderson went on to say, "Diversity has been our strength, and when you look at that [meme], it taps into the isolationist impulses of a lot of people — the inner racism and hatreds that a lot of people have, unfortunately."DHS also posted a meme Wednesday featuring the following remarks: "Liberals don't know things. They don't read history, they don't obsess over stats, the few data points they do see they forget. Their entire world is driven by the consumption of fiction."Blaze News has reached out to the DHS for comment.Like Blaze News? Gaming SSDs won't get much quicker for at least five years, says drive maker

It’s going to be a long wait before we see a PCIe 6.0 gaming SSD, according to the head of SSD controller manufacturer Silicon Motion. In an interview, the company’s founder and CEO, Wallace C. Kou, says that we’re not going to get a PCIe 6.0 SSD “until 2030,” with PCIe 5.0 SSDs providing the ceiling of storage performance in desktop PCs for the next five years. Silicon Motion makes the controllers for many of the best gaming SSD designs around right now, including the new super-fast WD Black SN8100, which already gets close to saturating the PCIe 5.0 bus with its immense sequential read speed of 14,900MB/s. We’ve also already seen a PCIe 6.0 SSD demonstrated at Computex, but when it comes to PC gaming hardware, it looks as though there’s not much interest in progressing to this new standard for SSDs. Mindseye dev is "heartbroken" about technical issues, outlines extensive fixes

Mindseye has experienced one of the more dramatic launches in videogames this year. As the first game from Build a Rocket Boy, a studio led by former Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption producer Leslie Benzies, expectations were initially high for the project. When the game came out earlier this week, however, it made more of an impression for its many significant technical issues than it did for its approach to open-world action. Now, after several days of complaints, Build a Rocket Boy has issued a statement outlining a timeline for trying to get the game into better shape.
