Hamas Gets Third New Boss In Seven Months

Hamas elevated Ezzedin al-Haddad, a senior member of the terror organization, to become their third leader in seven months following the assassination of former militant head Mohammed Sinwar. The commander, also known as the “Ghost of al-Qassam,” reportedly played a fundamental role in rehabilitating Hamas’ militant infrastructure and is considered to have been a key figure […]

Reintroduction of Two Yangtze Finless Porpoises A Rare Success in Captive Breeding of Endangered Species

For the first time ever, Chinese biologists have successfully rescued, rehabilitated, and reintroduced a Yangtze finless porpoise back into the wild stretches of the great river. A critically-endangered species of cetacean, the family that includes dolphins, porpoises, and whales, the Yangtze finless porpoise lives only in the Yangtze river, as the name suggests, but the […] The post Reintroduction of Two Yangtze Finless Porpoises A Rare Success in Captive Breeding of Endangered Species appeared first on Good News Network.

Trump’s Power Play: Repealing Biden’s Energy Rules Is a Win for America

President Donald Trump’s latest move to repeal the Biden administration’s power plant regulations marks a pivotal moment in America’s energy policy. If finalized, this proposal would not only lower electricity costs for millions of Americans but also strengthen domestic manufacturing and reduce the risk of blackouts. The public has 45 days to comment. The new regulation, with its companion regulation to revert to 2012 standards for mercury emissions, are a bold step toward restoring energy affordability and reliability, pillars of economic growth and national security. The Biden-era rules, finalized in 2024, would have forced most coal-fired and new natural gas power plants to capture and store 90% of their carbon emissions by 2039, or shut down by 2040. The Biden mandates disproportionately burden poor people, farmers, and small businesses, while pushing energy-intensive industries overseas to countries like China, where environmental standards are far weaker. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin said Wednesday, “EPA is proposing to repeal the unconstitutional 2015 Obama ’Clean Power Plan,’ Biden’s ’Clean Power Plan 2.0,’ and the 2024 Mercury and Air Toxics Standards (reverting to the effective 2012 standards). These rules imposed massive costs on power plants, raised the cost of living, and endangered the reliability of our electric grid. We are ENDING their war on our domestic energy supply and saving Americans billions of dollars in the process.” Trump’s proposed repeal would eliminate the costly carbon capture mandates for new and existing fossil fuel plants. This would allow coal plants, which supply 16% of U.S. electricity, to remain operational. It would make natural gas, which powers 43% of the grid, more affordable. This is not just about energy, it’s about jobs, competitiveness, and economic sovereignty. EPA is proposing to repeal the rule by rescinding all greenhouse gas emissions standards for the power sector under Section 111 of the Clean Air Act. EPA’s new position is clear: before regulating emissions from fossil fuel plants, the agency must demonstrate that these emissions significantly contribute to dangerous air pollution. Current data don’t support that conclusion, according to EPA. Government models support this. They show that if the United States stopped using all fossil fuels in 2025, the reduction in global temperatures in 2100 would be only 0.2 degrees Celsius. According to EPA estimates, this regulation could save the power sector almost $20 billion over two decades. These savings would ripple across the economy, lowering costs for transportation, heating, utilities, and manufacturing. The 2024 mercury rule created regulatory uncertainty, particularly in coal-reliant states like West Virginia, Texas, and Pennsylvania. The proposed rollback would revert to the 2012 standards, which have already driven a 90% reduction in mercury emissions and significant cuts in other hazardous pollutants. Even the Biden administration acknowledged that the 2012 standards provided an ample margin of safety. The Biden rules were an attempt to revive the 2015 Clean Power Plan, which the Supreme Court struck down in West Virginia v. Environmental Protection Agency (2022). That ruling reaffirmed that agencies may not decide “major questions” or make sweeping changes to America’s energy mix without clear congressional authorization. By repealing these overreaching rules, the Trump administration is confirming a fundamental principle: energy policy should be grounded in law, science, and economic reality. This proposal is a welcome course correction that prioritizes stability of the electricity grid and affordable energy, benefiting American workers, consumers, and allies abroad. Energy security is economic security. If the goal is to have a strong economy that generates jobs and makes America the global leader in advanced manufacturing and artificial intelligence, our nation needs reliable, affordable power. The EPA new power plant rules do just that. The post Trump’s Power Play: Repealing Biden’s Energy Rules Is a Win for America appeared first on The Daily Signal.

Heritage Action Scores Trump’s Rescissions Package as Key Vote

Heritage Action Scores Trump’s Rescissions Package as Key Vote

Heritage Action has scored President Donald Trump’s rescissions package as its first key vote of the 119th Congress. “Heritage Action applauds the work President Trump and his administration have done to deliver a bold rescissions package to Congress,” Heritage Action Executive Vice President Ryan Walker said. “This critical legislation will rein in reckless government spending and protect American taxpayer dollars.” A rescission bill is a cost-cutting piece of legislation, delivered by the president to Congress, that requires just a simple majority in both chambers to pass. It’s a quick way for Congress to claw back discretionary funds. The package includes cuts to spending, such as “$6 million for Net Zero Cities” in Mexico and “$6 million for supporting media organizations and civic life of Palestinians,” according to a press release from House Speaker Mike Johnson’s office. Heritage Action urges “all members of Congress to support this rescissions package to codify cuts in wasteful spending identified by the Department of Government Efficiency and restore fiscal trust in our nation’s institutions.” “This vote will be included on our legislative scorecard, the first key vote of the 119th Congress, to hold lawmakers accountable for their commitment to fiscal responsibility,” Walker said. Heritage Action is the grassroots advocacy arm of The Heritage Foundation, the leading conservative think tank. When Heritage Action scores legislation as a “key vote,” a lawmaker’s score on the Heritage Action Scorecard will be affected by his or her position. CNBC’s Steve Liesman Wears the Clown Nose With Latest Good Inflation Report for Trump

CNBC’s Steve Liesman Wears the Clown Nose With Latest Good Inflation Report for Trump

It’s one of the most amusing aspects of MRC Business’s day-to-day routine when staff watch liberal media talking heads forced to eat crow over their blind adamancy that President Donald Trump is going to wreck the economy. CNBC senior economics reporter Steve Liesman is the latest to be found wearing the clown nose. The Bureau of Labor Statistics released its latest report on consumer prices finding that inflation had risen noticeably less than expected on a month-to-month basis in May by 0.1 percent against economists’ expectations of a 0.2 percent increase. Core inflation — which excludes volatile food and energy prices — was even more telling, having risen 0.1 percent on a month-to-month basis and 2.8 percent on the year-to-year, also upending expectations by experts of a 0.3 percent and 2.9 percent increase respectively. Liesman summarized during the June 11 edition of CNBC’s Squawk Box that “Not only did we get a decline in inflation expectations earlier this week from the important New York Fed report,” he did “not see broader impacts on inflation from the tariffs.” Of course, he was still clinging to the idea that the Trump price spikes are just around the corner, but previous jabs he made at Trump’s economic policies on MSNBC now make him look utterly foolish. During the April 4 edition of MSNBC’s All In with Chris Hayes, Liesman mocked Trump for his trade war, which he claimed was the equivalent of intentionally crashing the Titanic: And I guess another way to think about it is this. You know, the Titanic hit an iceberg by accident. This is the equivalent of steering the Titanic towards the iceberg … The adults have left the room. How now, brown cow?  Adding to Liesman’s optics obliteration is the recent news that a trade deal between Trump and geopolitical foe China has been reached. "Our deal with China is done, subject to final approval with President Xi and me," Trump wrote in a June 11 Truth Social post. "Full magnets, and any necessary rare earths, will be supplied, up front, by China.” Not bad for a situation where “adults have left the room,” eh Liesman? Also, the New York Federal Reserve report that Liesman alluded to in his June 11 CNBC appearance is another blow to his image. For all the Liesman bluster about Trump crashing the Titanic, the New York Fed noted June 9 that “households’ inflation expectations declined at the short-, medium-, and longer-term horizons.” In addition, wrote the Fed, “Consumers’ recent pessimism about the labor market eased somewhat, while consumer debt delinquency expectations and expectations about one’s household financial situation improved slightly.”  There’s so much crow to be found here that Liesman will probably have to make two trips to finish eating it all.

Schwarzenegger Blames Riots on Lack of 'Comprehensive Immigration Reform'

Schwarzenegger Blames Riots on Lack of 'Comprehensive Immigration Reform'

Actor and former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger joined ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel to promote season two of Netflix’s FUBAR, but the duo could not resist talking about the LA riots. Both men insisted everything has been blown way out of proportion, but Schwarzenegger also claimed the violence has been the result of politicians not passing “comprehensive immigration reform,” which he partly defined as giving citizenship to illegal immigrants. Schwarzenegger claimed, “I totally agree with you, by the way, Jimmy. They make it out to—like it's some war zone, the whole, Los Angeles, the whole city or the county. And the fact of the matter is, it's maybe 0.001 percent of the area of Los Angeles has problems, and there's a protest.”     He declared that “I think this is important for people to know, because I don't want all of a sudden tourism to suffer in Los Angeles because what they see on television, because the media sometimes shows it as if the whole of Los Angeles is a big war zone, which really isn't really the case.” Kimmel agreed, “No. None of Los Angeles is a war zone.” Schwarzenegger then got around to playing the blame game, “But this wouldn't happen if the politicians would do their work. Think about it.” After Kimmel sought clarification on what he meant by that, Schwarzenegger continued, “For decades, almost four decades, we have had a problem where they talked about immigration reform. Comprehensive immigration reform. But the Democrats and the Republicans, both of the parties, have no interest in solving this problem because they use that to raise money.” If only there was an event four decades ago that soured conservatives on the idea of “comprehensive immigration reform.” Schwarzenegger then fell back on the fallacy of the center: And so what they do is they just keep pointing the finger at each other, and then they're surprised if all of a sudden we are using our middle finger on them, right? But I mean, it's all bogus, because I think that we can do better than that. Democrats and Republicans—you know, when they talk about Democrats and Republicans, even though I'm a Republican, I tell you, it is sometimes disappointing. And then I think even just when you look at the symbols of the party. Think about that. I mean, the Democrats, donkey. Republicans, elephant. And the donkey's a jackass. And of course, wherever the big animal goes, it leaves a pile of dump, right? I mean, it's—the symbols say it all. A few moments later, Kimmel again sought to clarify what Schwarzenegger meant by comprehensive immigration reform, asking, “But you know, but seriously, of course, there truly are families that are worried they're going to be deported. Do you think that people who have been in this country for 25 years and who have had no criminal activity whatsoever should be granted the rights of U.S. citizenship?”     Schwarzenegger affirmed it would, “Yes, and also we'd then be able to hand out more visas, temporary working permits, permanent working permits, the green card, citizenship, and all of those things. And we would know who comes into the United States rather than not knowing and having so many people here that they don't even know who they are, and what kind of criminal activities they're participating in, and all this.” He further mourned: So, it's a shame, the whole thing, because we have a country that needs workers. And when you look at south of the border, they want to work. So, it's a perfect match. But let's do it legal, and let's do it in a coherent way, rather than doing it the way now, which is a disaster. And I told you, that's what makes me so disappointed in both of the parties. That both of the parties do not want to go and solve this problem once and for all and create good immigration reform, the way, you know, like Senator Kennedy and John McCain worked it out, and they had a really great, great bill there. But then they didn't go for it. The problem is the same as it has always been. You can’t talk about offering citizenship to illegal immigrants without incentivizing a rush for the border, thus making the problem even worse. If Schwarzenegger wants to know why his brand of centrist-to-liberal Republicanism is dead, that is why. Here is a transcript for the June 11-taped show: ABC Jimmy Kimmel Live! 6/12/2025 12:13 AM ET ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER: I totally agree with you, by the way, Jimmy. They make it out to — like it's some war zone, the whole, Los Angeles, the whole city or the county. And the fact of the matter is, it's maybe 0.001 percent of the area of Los Angeles has problems, and there's a protest. JIMMY KIMMEL: Yeah. SCHWARZENEGGER: And so, I think this is important for people to know, because I don't want all of a sudden tourism to suffer in Los Angeles because what they see on television, because the media sometimes shows it as if the whole of Los Angeles is a big war zone, which really isn't really the case. KIMMEL: No. None of Los Angeles is a war zone. SCHWARZENEGGER: But this wouldn't happen if the politicians would do their work. Think about it. KIMMEL: Now, what do you mean by that, exactly? What do you mean by that? SCHWARZENEGGER: For decades, almost four decades, we have had a problem where they talked about immigration reform. Comprehensive immigration reform. But the Democrats and the Republicans, both of the parties, have no interest in solving this problem because they use that to raise money. And so what they do is they just keep pointing the finger at each other, and then they're surprised if all of a sudden we are using our middle finger on them, right? Do you think that people who have been in this country for 25 years and who have had no criminal activity whatsoever should be granted the rights of U.S. citizenship? SCHWARZENEGGER: Well, this is what I'm talking about, is immigration reform. Comprehensive immigration reform will address all these issues. KIMMEL: Will it do that? SCHWARZENEGGER: Yes, and also we'd then be able to hand out more visas, temporary working permits, permanent working permits, the green card, citizenship, and all of those things. And we would know who comes into the United States rather than not knowing and having so many people here that they don't even know who they are, and what kind of criminal activities they're participating in, and all this.  So, it's a shame, the whole thing, because we have a country that needs workers.
