On Thursday, ABC’s The View’s Joy Behar responded to the recent Supreme Court decision to not restrict access to the abortion drug Mifepristone by attacking the institution itself, proclaiming: “I don't trust it. But I don’t trust them!” Surprisingly, co-host Sunny Hostin initiated the segment as she expressed that the Supreme Court’s decision “does restore a little bit of my faith in the court.” Her support for this was the fact that not everyone can “bring a case in front of the Supreme Court.” Hostin alluded to Justice Clarence Thomas opinion on the decision and concluded that this was “black-letter law and they stuck to it.”     Co-host Ana Navarro did not hesitate as she exclaimed, “Well I just have to wonder what flag Mrs. Alito is going to fly today.” The audience cheered and laughed like usual. Later in the segment, Joy Behar noted that you can get this medication in the mail “just like women have been doing.” But she made it evident that even though decision was 9-0 in her favor, she did not approve of the Supreme Court’s decision as she interrupted Hostin and declared: “I don't trust it. But I don’t trust them – if Donald Trump gets in, don’t trust this.” Sarah Haines chimed in as she remarked “Some people don’t remember that justices have to prove their case. It's not like math where you put in an answer. You have to show us how you got there through the letter of the law so it's not as simple to have just corrupt judges running around in the Supreme Court.” She emphasized that this case decision was a reminder that judges “can’t just decide based on their beliefs.” But Behar interjected with the same comment: “I don’t trust the whole thing. I don’t trust them.” Hostin, who even seemed to be surprised by her continued reaction, asked Behar “you don’t trust the whole thing?” Behar simply responded “No.” Navarro agreed with Behar as she asserted “Well neither do most Americans right now, unfortunately. Which is don’t trust the Supreme Court.” Hostin, still a little confused by Behar’s comments, asked her if she found any comfort in this case decision. This is when Behar decided to lay it all out on the table as she concluded: “I don't trust the extreme religious right because they're very adamant about this and they're gonna do their best to change everything around and women need to be very vigilant. They want us in the kitchen with ten kids that we can't feed. Like can anybody bring a case in front of the Supreme Court? No. You have to have to prove that you have injuries resulting from it and so you've got a group of doctors and group of citizens and all of these people bring this challenge to the FDA and say, we don't want this – this – pill. And what Kavanaugh, he was the one that wrote it, said they do not -- what's called standing, in legalese and Justice Thomas in a concurring opinion and it's only 25 pages, it was pretty -- it's really easy to go through. He says, “I join the court's opinion in fault because it currently applies our precedents” -- we didn't know he stuck to those -- “to conclude that the Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine and other plaintiffs lacks standing.” That is black-letter law and they stuck to it. HOSTIN: And one thing I want to mention that I thought was very important - Kavanaugh says opponents of the pill have other avenues - as Alyssa just mentioned - to object. They can always take their concerns to the executive and legislative branches and seek greater regulatory or legislative restrictions on certain activities. BEHAR: Translation? SARAH HAINES: Please. HOSTIN: So the translation is states' rights. Translation, it is a little bit of a dog whistle to Congress. It is a little bit of a dog whistle to different governors, say, listen, if you in your 14 states want to keep abortion even from this pill being used then you need to legislate for it, and, quite frankly, that's why we have three branches of government -- BEHAR: -- I don't trust it. But I don’t trust them – ANA NAVARRO: And you shouldn’t because if -- BEHAR: -- if Donald Trump gets in, don't trust this. Police say a man has been arrested in connection to the death of an 11-year-old boy during a sleepover where he reportedly participated in a dangerous TikTok challenge, according to his family. Tommy-lee Gracie Billington lost consciousness after inhaling toxic substances and was transported to a hospital, where he later died in March. 'It is beyond me why anyone would even try this. It's so dangerous.'Three months later, Lancashire Police announced that they had arrested a 25-year-old man on from Lancaster suspicion of a slew of charges. Billington was believed to have died as a result of participating in a TikTok challenge known as "chroming" during which children are encouraged to inhale toxic chemicals in order to create a high comparable to drunkenness. The chemicals used include solvents, aerosols, paint, or cleaning products. The boy died officially from cardiac arrest. The boy's grandmother Tina Burns had released information about his death to the media. "He had a heart of gold just like his dad. Our family is utterly devastated," said Burns. "He died instantly after a sleepover at a friend's house." She said the hospital staff did everything they could to revive him but were unsuccessful. "Both our families are utterly devastated but we all want the same thing," Burns added. "We don't want any other children to follow TikTok or be on social media." Burns also said that she had gotten messages from other parents who said they were grateful to learn about the dangerous social media challenges. 'Please talk to your children about the consequences of this.' The boy's mother, Sherri, also tried to raise awareness about the dangers of TikTok challenges in a heartfelt message on Facebook. "As much as I hate talking about it, I need to raise awareness of what kids are trying nowadays," she wrote. "It is beyond me why anyone would even try this. It's so dangerous."TikTok has said that it has removed posts from the platform that encourage chroming and other challenges. "Tommie had stayed over at a friends and was inhaling this with his friend which cost him his poor, young life," she continued. "Please talk to your children about the consequences of this, I have no idea how this even came about for children to try." In addition to the man arrested, a 35-year-old woman was voluntarily questioned over allegations related to possession with intent to supply.The man was arrested on suspicion of child cruelty, neglect, possession with intent to supply a drug, and money laundering. A Democratic candidate who blamed former President Donald Trump and other Republicans for "Hinduphobic" messages sent to him on social media was arrested after an investigation found that he had sent them himself. Taral Patel is a candidate for commissioner for Fort Bend County, but he is going viral for being implicated in an alleged impersonation racial hoax.'These hateful images are from a place of deep and misguided fear.'In Sept. 2023, Taral Patel lambasted his political opponents over the vile racism sent to him on social media. “As your Democratic candidate for County Commissioner, I am always open to criticism of my policy positions and stances on issues. However, when my Republican opponents supporters’ decide to hurl #racist, #anti-immigrant, #Hinduphobic, or otherwise disgusting insults at my family, faith community, colleagues, and me - that crosses a line," he wrote. "Fort Bend County’s diversity has made us all stronger, and these hateful images are from a place of deep and misguided fear," he added, "incited by people like former President Donald Trump and today’s extremist Republican party fear that immigrants are ‘taking their jobs’ and setting out to hurt our own communities.”On Wednesday, Patel was arrested. The Democrat was booked on a third-degree felony charge of online impersonation and a misdemeanor charge of misrepresentation of identity for sending himself racist messages after an investigation by the Fort Bend District Attorney's Public Integrity Division and the Texas Rangers. Patel won the primary election for the Democratic Party in March and is set to face Republican incumbent Andy Meyers in November for the commissioner's seat for the third precinct. Investigators said most of the posts that are suspected to have been secretly written by Patel were on Facebook from Oct. 2022 until May 2024. The Democrat was given a $20,000 bond for the felony charge and a $2,500 bond for the misdemeanor charge. He had previously worked in President Joe Biden's administration. Patel has not yet responded to requests for comment about the arrest, but a legal expert told KPRC-TV that he is still allowed to run in the election.
