Andrew Cuomo calls NY case against Trump politically motivated: 'Playing politics with the justice system'

Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) recently stated that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's case against former President Donald Trump was politically motivated, The Hill reported.Last year, Bragg filed 34 felony counts of falsifying business records against Trump, arguing that the former president had tried to conceal a so-called hush-money payment made to porn actress Stormy Daniels, who claimed the two had an affair. Trump pleaded not guilty to all charges and denied Daniels' allegations. In May, a jury of Manhattan residents found Trump guilty on all counts.'You want to talk about a threat to democracy.'During a Friday appearance on HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher," the disgraced former governor said, "If his name was not Donald Trump and if he wasn't running for president ... I'm the former AG of in New York, [and] I'm telling you that case would've never been brought.""That's what is offensive to people, and it should be because if there's anything left, it's belief in the justice system," Cuomo remarked."And you want to talk about a threat to democracy: When you have this country believing you're playing politics with the justice system and you're trying to put people in jail or convict them for political reasons, then we have a real problem," he added.Trump's legal team plans to file an appeal. His attorney Todd Blanche explained that they had expected the guilty verdict."We didn't think we were gonna get a fair shake in Manhattan, and we didn't," Blanche stated.Bragg's prosecution team recently requested to have the gag order against Trump extended, citing 61 alleged threats made by others against Bragg, his family, or employees. The new filing, signed by Assistant District Attorney Matthew Colangelo, stated that nothing stops Trump from "broadly criticizing the verdict, the criminal proceeding, the District Attorney, this court and more — and indeed, defendant has engaged in a flood of such criticisms both during the trial and after the guilty verdict."Prosecutors accused Trump of making "categorically false accusations," including that Bragg and his team are attempting to "restrict the defendant's speech at an upcoming presidential debate." The filing stated that Trump's claim has "no factual basis" and is "a lie," NBC News reported."These knowing falsehoods are just the latest examples of defendant's patent disrespect for the rule of law and the impartial administration of justice," Bragg's team wrote. "As defendant's continued conduct makes clear, the need to protect participants in this criminal proceeding and the integrity of the criminal justice process from defendant's attacks remains critically important."Colangelo previously held a senior role at the Biden administration's Department of Justice before he effectively took a demotion to join Bragg's office in December 2022. House Judiciary Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland a couple of months ago stating that Colangelo's appointment to Bragg's office has "given the perception that the Justice Department is assisting in" the DA's "politicized prosecution" of Trump.Like Blaze News? WATCH: Viral resurfaced clip from 2020 may be the wokest thing in existence: 'Your son’s tumor is caused by racism.'

2020 – the height of the everything is racist, sexist, homophobic, etc. mentality – produced some utterly ludicrous ideas, but none so ludicrous as what was pitched by the creators of NBC’s “New Amsterdam,” which thankfully ended in 2023. Dave Rubin plays what will inevitably go down in history as the wokest moment on television. Resurfaced Clip from 2020 May Be the Funniest ‘Woke’ TV Ever Made youtu.be In what can only be described as sickeningly melodramatic, a doctor speaks to a worried mother whose son is suffering from some kind of tumor. “Your son – he feels threatened on a daily basis, like everything he's earned can just be taken away. He’s disenfranchised, but because his life is seemingly free from all this, because he can’t name it, he’s internalizing it…I think your son’s tumor is caused by racism,” the doctor sighs. “I can’t imagine why that show was canceled!” laughs Dave, adding that the clip is bizarrely “making the rounds now” despite being filmed four years ago. PragerU’s Xaviaer DuRousseau equates watching the clip to “cyanide poisoning.” “I am just so repulsed by that show,” he says. “To make it seem like, oh, because people hurt your feelings, now you have cancer … it’s like can we please be serious? Like that’s more unserious than Fauci trying to tell us about COVID.” “There’s nothing that sells more in this country than victim bingo.” To see NBC’s viral segment and have a good laugh, watch the clip above. Actor Ed O'Neill tells amazing story connecting his time with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the lunar landing in 1969

Celebrated comedic actor Ed O'Neill revealed what happened the day he left the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1969.Before O'Neill was the star of hit TV shows "Modern Family" and "Married... with Children," he was a professional athlete for a short time in the 1960s.The actor attended Ohio University on an athletic scholarship before transferring to Youngstown State University to play as a defensive lineman from 1967 to 1968.Following his college tenure, he signed a professional contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1969 but was cut during training camp.On the "Games with Names" podcast with NFL legend Julian Edelman, O'Neill revealed that he had a memorable day after leaving the team."This was not too long after I got cut. So I was packing up. I thought, I don't want to go home and have to explain this. I knew a friend in Pittsburgh. So I said I am going to Pittsburgh. And I had this rudimentary idea of where my friend lived. I directed [a cab driver] up a street and saw a bar. I said right here, my friend lives right around that bar. Just drop me off here," O'Neill recalled.'You sure you want to do this? You know, we could just get in the car and get out of here.'The actor who played Al Bundy soon realized that the lunar landing had just happened."So I went in the bar. It was like 2:00 in the afternoon. I order a beer. The news comes on, and they are showing Armstrong walking on the moon. And I am thinking, at least someone had a good day. And then they went to the sports. Of course, it’s Pittsburgh. So they go, 'Linebacker Ed O'Neill released today from the Steelers.'"Patrons at the bar realized he was indeed the NFL player on the television and bought him rounds of drinks. It wasn't until 3:00 a.m. that O'Neill mentally checked back in when he was pulled over in a car with a female companion."[The cop] said, 'Did you get cut from Pittsburgh today?' I said 'yep,' and he let me go."The 78-year-old also spoke about his tryout with the Steelers with radio host Rich Eisen in 2016."[Training camp] actually went pretty good," O'Neill told the host, per CBS. "My father drove me down ... to St. Vincent's College ... and when we walked down the stairs and saw all the guys milling around, my father said to me, 'You sure you want to do this? You know, we could just get in the car and get out of here.'""I actually enjoyed it, and my problem was that I had never played [outside linebacker] before. So I was trying to learn it and make the team at the same time."The former Steeler said that he lasted two weeks before he got the word that he was cut from the coach, who apparently said he might be a fit for the Philadelphia Eagles."I think he said I could go to the Eagles. ... He said, 'I can make a call.'"However, O'Neill said at that point he was "sick of football" and passed on the opportunity.O'Neill's first acting credit, according to IMDB, is the 1980 film "Cruising" starring Al Pacino. The film's synopsis is as follows:"A police officer goes undercover in the underground S&M gay subculture of New York City to catch a serial killer who is preying on gay men."O'Neill's character on "Married... with Children" often cited his time as a high school football star, consistently referencing scoring "four touchdowns in a single game."Like Blaze News? Why Siri’s ChatGPT integration might drive some iPhone users crazy

Why Siri’s ChatGPT integration might drive some iPhone users crazy

For as remarkable as Siri was when it debuted in 2011, Apple's digital assistant has since been lapped by rival services from Amazon and Google. I myself noticed that the amount of time I spend using Siri has gone down significantly over the years, largely because it has become less helpful to me over time. And that's hardly a minority opinion, as Apple users have bemoaned Siri's lack of utility relative to competitors for years. With iOS 18, that is poised to change. Thanks to Apple Intelligence, Apple boasts that users will be able to engage with Siri more naturally. Additionally, Siri will be more aware of the context in which queries are made. In turn, Siri will be able to deliver more accurate and helpful results. And for instances where Siri isn't up for the task - say, if you ask how long you need to cook chicken breast in an air frier at 400 degrees - Siri will be able to leverage the power of ChatGPT to deliver results instead of lazily directing users to the web. Thanks to Apple's partnership with OpenAI, ChatGPT is integrated directly into Siri. Specifically, users will be able to take advantage of the power of GPT-4o. And while Apple Intelligence is designed to work its magic in the background, the same can't be said for Siri's ChatGPT integration. On the contrary, anytime Siri deems itself unable to deliver a response, users will receive a prompt asking if they'd like to use ChatGPT to do the job. More info on ChatGPT and Siri integration During WWDC, we learned that ChatGPT won't be turned on by default in Siri when iOS 18 ships. Rather, users will have to go to settings and flick a toggle to turn it on. This is a nice guardrail for folks who might be inclined to steer away from ChatGPT, for whatever reason. Incidentally, iOS 18 users will not need to sign up for a ChatGPT account to take advantage of the service. And again, Siri won't hand off a request to ChatGPT in the background and then relay that information unbeknownst to the user. On the contrary, users will be prompted to accept ChatGPT before any query is made. The UI is illustrated in the photo below: Siri will pass information to ChatGPT with your permission. Image source: Apple Inc. Unfortunately, John Gruber over at Daring Fireball relays that this prompt may appear every single time Siri wants to offload something to ChatGPT. This might be fine for users who engage with ChatGPT sparingly. However, it might prove to be a nuisance for heavy users. An option in Settings to "always allow" Siri to pass something to ChatGPT would be nice. Such a feature does not appear to be in the cards just yet. As currently designed, no one is going to accidentally interact with, let alone expose personal information to, ChatGPT. If anything I suspect the more common complaint will come from people who wish to use ChatGPT without confirmation each time. Some people are going to want an “Always allow” option for handing requests to ChatGPT, but according to Apple reps I’ve spoken with, such an option does not yet exist. While frustrating, this is arguably not surprising. If anything, users who might grow weary of these notifications might decide it's more convenient to just sign up as a ChatGPT subscriber. This, of course, would entitle Apple to a cut of the action. What's more, with Apple making its most significant leap in the realm of AI, a measured approach makes sense. If anything, it's certainly Apple's way of doing things. Other Siri and ChatGPT tidbits There are a few other Siri and ChatGPT tidbits worth sharing. For one, the deal Apple struck with OpenAI will see no money exchanging hands. Instead, OpenAI is betting that its partnership with Apple - and its massively large user base -- will pay off in terms of exposure and new users. And Apple, meanwhile, can provide its users access to a best-in-class AI system. It's a rare win-win scenario for both parties involved. Second, other chatbot integrations might be on the way. There doesn't appear to be a ChatGPT exclusivity agreement with iOS, which is to say we might see Apple offer users the ability to select from varying chatbots like Claude and Google Gemini. Third, individual queries to ChatGPT will not be logged by either Apple or OpenAI. In a similar vein, ChatGPT will not use any user-submitted information as part of its training data. Of course, this is not the case for iOS 18 users logged into their ChatGPT accounts.
