If you're tired of censorship and dystopian threats against civil liberties, subscribe to Reclaim The Net. Given how X has gone out of its way to reveal the depth and breadth of online censorship via the Twitter Files, this makes for an awkward reunion: the company has decided to rejoin the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM). It’s a pro-censorship, World Economic Forum-affiliated advertisers’ group, that achieves its objectives through the “brand safety” route (i.e., the censorship “brand” here would be demonetization). And last summer, it was scrutinized by the US Congress. GARM is one of those outfits whose roots are very entangled (comes in handy when somebody tries to probe your activities, though) – and the chronology is not insignificant either: formed in 2019 as a World Federation of Advertisers (WFA) initiative, partnered with the Association of National Advertisers (ANA). Then came another “partnership” – that with WEF (World Economic Forum), specifically, its Shaping the Future of Media, Entertainment, and Sport project – a “flagship” one. In May 2023, the US House Judiciary Committee wanted to know what exactly was happening here, and whether “brand safety” as a concept, as exercised by these entities, could be linked to censorship of online speech. So the Committee subpoenaed the World Federation of Advertisers (and GARM), asking for records that might show whether these groups “coordinated efforts to demonetize and censor disfavored speech online.” Committee Chairman Jim Jordan was at the time concerned that this conduct might have run afoul of US antitrust laws. For X, despite the strides the platform has made toward protecting users’ speech since the Twitter takeover, the GARM relationship is most likely simply about (ad) money – and one of the several efforts to make the platform profitable at last. Those who were hoping for a “free speech absolutism” on a platform like this might be disappointed, the Congress might investigate some more; but ultimately, the move represents a “realpolitik-style” compromise. And so X is “excited” and “proud” to be back as a GARM member. The company’s “Safety” account posted something about “the safety of our global town square” apparently being relevant to this decision, but did not elaborate. Now listed by GARM along with X are YouTube and Chanel – and, in between, some of the biggest pharma and telecoms out there. Big Money, one might say. Shark Tank star Kevin O’Leary, aka “Mr. Wonderful,” offered a passionate defense of Tractor Supply’s decision to put customers over ESG ratings. During the June 28 edition of CNBC’s Last Call, Anchor Brian Sullivan asked O’Leary whether Tractor Supply had moved too quickly and openly by announcing the end of all their diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. O’Leary applauded Tractor Supply for listening to their rural customers, before celebrating this setback for radical DEI initiatives. “The pendulum is swinging back to normalcy. America is saying ‘Enough already! This stuff is too crazy. It doesn't work. It's not the core of what a business is about. It's not the DNA of success and it doesn't take care of our employees and our customers,’” O’Leary told Sullivan. “I'm going to make a statement about this to push this agenda back in everybody's face. Good for them!” On June 6, conservative commentator Robby Starbuck went after Tractor Supply’s atrocious corporate behavior. He listed several offenses, including “funding sex changes,” creating a DEI council and “funding pride/drag events.” Starbuck also called Tractor Supply out for having “LGBTQIA+ training for employees,” “climate change activism,” “pride month decorations in the office,” “DEI hiring practices” and “LGBTQIA+ events at work.”  Starbuck’s campaign to highlight the absurd distance between Tractor Supply’s rural customers and the company’s embrace of racially discriminatory DEI and LGBTQIA activism was successful.  On June 27, Tractor Supply promised to “eliminate DEI roles and retire our current DEI goals” in a post on X. The company also promised not to fund pride festivals, abandon carbon emission goals and cease providing data to the LGBT pressure group the Human Rights Campaign (HRC).  Tellingly, the HRC maintains the Corporate Equality Index which hounds companies to allow men in women’s bathrooms and cover “Transgender-inclusive health insurance.” It  pushes companies to provide “pharmacy benefits for hormone therapy, medical visits and lab procedures related to hormone therapy, surgical procedures, and short-term leave for surgical procedures.” This activist group demands that the companies they rate “fully affirm healthcare coverage for medically necessary transition-related care.” O’Leary had no patience for companies that focused on these issues. During the CNBC interview, O’Leary made the absurdly common-sense case that companies should focus on serving their customers, their “number one constituency,” as well as employees and investors, rather than catering to radical organizations and activists. “If you don't take care of all of them consistently over and over again, you don't have a business,” O’Leary said. He pointed out the absurdity of companies taking their eye off these things to focus on “climate change” or “gender identity,” before colorfully lampooning DEI at a company serving rural conservatives.  “I'm pretty sure that when you're a farmer and go in there and pick up a bag of hog feed and you take it back to the barn and you stick it in the trough and you say to the hogs, ‘Listen, everybody, this company does not support a social agenda. Are you okay with that here in the hog community? If not, do not eat this feed.’ I think they’re gonna eat the feed,” the Shark Tank star said.  Conservatives are under attack! Support businesses that share your values or at least understand that they serve customers and employees rather than radical ESG pressure groups such as the Human Rights Campaign.

A new husband is in the hospital fighting for his life after two masked gunmen stormed his wedding reception and shot him in the head.Last Friday, Manuel and Dulce Gonzalez became husband and wife. They had been together for a decade and have two children together.'They were saying my brother-in-law was going for his wallet, and maybe they thought he was going for a weapon.'So that evening, 50 of their closest family and friends gathered in the couple's backyard in Dutchtown, a neighborhood located near the Mississippi River just a few miles south of downtown St. Louis. The group was having such a good time that the party extended well into the night.Unbeknownst to the hosts and guests, a pair of masked suspects had seemingly been casing the area. Ring camera footage indicates that the males rode by the home on their bikes shortly after midnight on Saturday morning as 32-year-old Manuel Gonzalez walked some of the guests to their cars.About an hour later, the suspects burst into the couple's backyard. They were armed and demanded everyone there to freeze. One suspect then began rifling through people's pockets and belongings while the other held a gun to Manuel's head.Suddenly, the suspect holding the gun shot Manuel in the head, and the two fled the scene, having stolen nothing. "They took nothing, yet they took everything from us," said Yaribeth Peña, the bride's sister and the couple's next-door neighbor.Manuel was raced to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition. His new father-in-law reported that he has made some slight movements with his hands, which have given the family hope."He’s fighting for his life. We are hoping he pulls through," Peña said. Peña characterized her brother-in-law as a hardworking man who loves Dulce and their children. "He’s just an all-around good person that, I don’t know, he didn’t deserve this," she said.She also offered a possible explanation for the horrific shooting: "They were saying my brother-in-law was going for his wallet, and maybe they thought he was going for a weapon."A GoFundMe account has been established to help cover "medical bills" and the family's loss of income. For now, Dulce Gonzalez remains "distraught," "depressed," and "heartbroken," Peña said.So far, police have no suspects, though Peña believes they are both teenagers. She described one as shorter than the other.An investigation into the shooting remains ongoing. ESPN personality Sarah Spain said that she was stifled in her attempt to bring a women's sports show to the network, despite having multiple sponsors on board.Spain has worked with ESPN for two decades and has made many controversial statements about pushing women's sports broadcasting forward. She has often been at odds with others in the industry while accusing them of bigotry.During an interview on "Sports Media with Richard Deitsch," Spain claimed that ESPN rejected multiple pitches for women's sports shows on the network. 'When you get to the top of most places, it is still a middle-aged white dude.'"Between the [NWSL's Chicago] Red Stars and my many pitches of a women's sports show to ESPN that did not go answered, there is still this feeling sometimes of, 'Man, I wish I had a billion dollars,'" Spain said, according to Awful Announcing. The reporter then blamed executives who don't "buy in" and do research about how profitable such programming could be. "When you get to the top of most places, it is still a middle-aged white dude. And they have to buy in, and they have to do the work, and they have to read the data, and they have to update themselves on the analytics. They have to recognize that they are being told, 'You are years behind a massive economic opportunity' and still not think of it as a charity. That's what's been really frustrating for me."Despite her claims that she had several sponsors lined up for the program, the network still allegedly said no. Spain added that one sponsor was "willing to give ESPN a bunch of money," with three other sponsors interested, but the Disney-owned network still rejected it.She did, however, recognize ESPN's work for women's sports but said the network could still do "more.""ESPN does more than anybody else, both in terms of hours of women's sports programming, rights packages, coverage, etc., and also they could do more. They could do differently. And I think to me, that's the biggest missed opportunity.""What you need is an actual show where the people hosting it are tasked with watching it and know the landscape," she added.Spain has had several public run-ins with sports personalities, including calling Tampa Bay Rays baseball players "bigots" for not wearing gay pride patches on their uniforms."We have to stop tiptoeing around it because we're trying to protect people who are trying to be bigoted from asking for them to be exempt from it, when the very people that they are bigoted against are suffering the consequences you say trying to be bigoted," she said, per Fox News.She has also chastised radio executives for not doing enough to reach out to female and gay audiences, saying that the audiences of "old white dudes" will die and leave no audience left."If you are so worried about scaring your existing fan base of old white dudes, remember that they're going to get even older and die, and then there will be no one left," Spain said in 2020. "Maybe you should reach out to the other parts of the population that are people of color, women, and 'lgbtq+.'"According to her website — which also labels her "unf***withable" — Spain is starting a new daily women's sports podcast with iHeart Radio. CNN anchor Jake Tapper accused the Democratic Party on Monday of engaging in Orwellian tactics to mislead Americans about President Joe Biden's mental acuity. At the opening of his show, Tapper called out the Democratic Party for engaging in a "discernible pattern" of lying to the public. He argued that party officials want Americans "to not believe what you saw and what you heard with your eyes and with your ears on Thursday night." 'The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.' Then, after playing a clip of Biden struggling to answer a question at the presidential debate, Tapper quoted author George Orwell to warn his audience about the Democratic Party's tactics. "Democratic officials have tried to spin this in many ways," Tapper said. "But behind the scenes, make no mistake. Most Democratic officials witnessed the same shocking spectacle that you did: the difficulty that the presumptive Democratic nominee, the current president of the United States, had just articulating his basic thoughts during the 90 minutes of the debate. "The spinning is all very reminiscent of the George Orwell quote from the book 'Nineteen Eighty-Four,'" he added. That quote, which Tapper said is "relevant" today, is this: The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command. The power of the quote cannot be understated. In the dystopian world of Orwell's "Nineteen Eighty-Four," the so-called "Party" enforces its version of truth on people. In that world, two plus two equal five, war is peace, and freedom is slavery. These logical statements are obviously false — and yet, in that world, they're "true."What Tapper is saying, then, is this: Democrats and the Biden campaign are directly lying to the American people, whose own eyes and ears do not deceive them.Post-debate polls indicate that Americans, contrary to the Democratic Party's wishes, trust their intuition.A CBS News poll, for example, showed that about three-fourths of American adults believe that Biden shouldn't run for re-election and doesn't have the cognitive health to serve a second term as president. A new CNN poll, meanwhile, shows that Donald Trump maintains a sizeable lead over Biden and that voters believe other Democrats would be more competitive against Trump than Biden.And on Tuesday, Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-Texas) became the first congressional Democrat to call on Biden to withdraw from the presidential race. As the woke mob grows ever louder and crazier, some Western churches are bending the knee and embracing values contrary to biblical principles, especially when those values earn them the checkmark of approval from the LGBTQ+ community. Pat Gray and the “Unleashed” team turn their gaze toward the Pilgrim United Church of Christ in Carlsbad, California, where at a recent service, a “call to worship” involved rejecting all messages that spoke against the LGBTQ+ agenda. Blessed are our sexualities, throwing us towards love of many kinds.” Unsurprisingly, the creed also touched on gender and race. “[God] created your body, so do whatever you want with it,” mocks Pat, who’s disgusted by the sacrilegious display. In the same service, another pair got up on stage and proclaimed: “Help us mirror to one another that you are a God who makes no mistakes.” Pat sees a glaring inconsistency. “Right! He’s a God who makes no mistakes. ... If you’re a man, you’re a man; if you’re a woman, you’re a woman. He didn’t make a mistake, so what is the deal here?” “For queer youth — you are beautiful and wonderfully made as you are. You are queer enough as you are. Your journey to discover who you are in your queerness is a gift to bear witness to and worthy of celebration. Keep going. Keep embracing yourself as you are in bloom. You are enough as you are, and you are a yes to God — always,” the duo continued. If that wasn’t weird enough, the “queer ancestors” were addressed next. “For queer ancestors — thank you for your relentless resistance so that advocacy, love, care, and justice could be manifested and continued in this moment.” Unfortunately, this blasphemous madness isn’t isolated to the Pilgrim United Church.
