TALL‚ ORANGE-COLORED BIGFOOT Witnessed at Catskill Mountains Farmhouse

A family was at their refurbished Catskill Mountains farmhouse during the night when the witness and his sister observed a tall‚ orange-colored Bigfoot leering through the kitchen window. The following account was forwarded to me:“Back in the late 1970s my parents purchased an old farmhouse that was built in 1880 in a town called South Kortright‚ New York. The house sat on 7 acres of a beautiful valley in the middle of the Catskill Mountains. The farmhouse was in disrepair when they purchased it but over the years they fixed it up to a very comfortable weekend and summer retreat from the urban gruel of the New York City area where we lived. The trip took 3 hours and my sister and I didn't mind it at all. One night after we arrived my sister and I were at the kitchen table eating sandwiches for dinner while my parents had cocktails in the front living room. The kitchen was at the rear of the house and the window faced a drop-off in the property which ran down to a clear running stream. As I was eating my dinner‚ I was gazing out the window. It was a dark overcast and moonless October night. As I turned my head from facing my sister I looked out the window which was illuminated by the light spilling out from the kitchen‚ there was a huge ape-like face staring back at me. It had a broad wide face with no discernible neck and shoulders that spread out beyond The 4 foot-wide window. The brow of the creature was heavy and I do not recall any expression on the creature's face. It was clearly‚ and most obviously‚ a Bigfoot. But what was different from any description that I had heard before about a Bigfoot‚ was that the hair of this creature was more orange-like not brown or black. At this point‚ I yelled and motioned to the window and my sister turned and saw the creature as well. We both yelled for my parents. But when they got there the creature was gone. My father and I took flashlights and went outside to look for it but the ground was too hard due to a cold Autumn that year. What we did realize however was that the creature would have to be over 9 feet tall for its face to be visible through the window at the kitchen since the basement level was exposed at that part of the house as the farmhouse was built into a hill.My parents really never believed my sister and me especially since the color of the beast was orange. But about 2 weeks later we read in a local paper in which a farmer had said he spotted a big hairy creature breaking into his hen house and stealing chickens. The color of the creature's hair was orange.” BHaunted Rock &; Roll: Ghostly Tales Of Musical LegendsToward the Light: Rescuing Spirits‚ Trapped Souls‚ and Earthbound GhostsInto The Fringe: A True Story of Alien AbductionThe Candle and the Crossroads: A Book of Appalachian Conjure and Southern Root-WorkMonsters Among Us: An Exploration of Otherworldly Bigfoots‚ Wolfmen‚ Portals‚ Phantoms‚ and Odd PhenomenaA Menagerie of Mysterious Beasts: Encounters with Cryptid CreaturesALIEN DISCLOSURE: EXPERIENCERS EXPOSE REALITY - AudiobookRegister a SNAP EBT CardTHE MEME HUMANOIDS: MODERN MYTHS OR REAL MONSTERS - AudiobookTry Audible PlusPHANTOMS &; MONSTERS READING LISTFeel Free to Post PHANTOMS &; MONSTERS DIRECT LINKS ON YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA &; WEBSITE. Top 10 Stone Temple Pilots Songs

Our top 10 Stone Temple Pilots songs list looks at the catalog of one of the best rock bands from the decade of the 1990s. The Stone Temple Pilots merged the sounds of grunge-style bands like Nirvana and Mudhoney with the riffs of bands like Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. Within their music‚ one could also easily find the sounds of 60s Brit-pop.  They succeeded‚ leaving us with a series of fabulous albums. The band released their first album in 1992 entitled Core. The group followed that record by releasing the incredible album Purple in 1994. As the 1990s unfolded‚ The post Top 10 Stone Temple Pilots Songs appeared first on ClassicRockHistory.com.

The Doctor Meets His New Companion in the Teaser for This Year’s Doctor Who Christmas Special

Are you ready to meet some new friends? There’s a teeny little teaser for this year’s Doctor Who Christmas special‚ in which Ncuti Gatwa makes his full post-regeneration debut as the Fifteenth Doctor—and Millie Gibson arrives as the new companion‚ Ruby Sunday. But is it possible she’s met him before? That seems to be what the brief synopsis for the special is hinting at: Long ago‚ on Christmas Eve‚ a baby was abandoned in the snow. Today‚ Ruby Sunday meets the Doctor‚ goblins‚ stolen babies‚ and perhaps‚ the secret of her birth. Maybe baby Ruby met the Doctor? Maybe not! Maybe the only baby here is the one endangered in the video for “The Goblin Song‚” which elaborates on the connection between said goblins and said stolen babies. It’s a bit more‚ uh‚ culinary than one might generally expect. (It’s enough to make you really miss Labyrinth‘s downright friendly goblins—and their king.) This Christmas special is a story “of chance‚ coincidence‚ and luck‚” and also involves a flying ship and Santa (maybe). The special also stars Davina McCall‚ Michelle Greenidge‚ Angela Wynter‚ and Anita Dobson. Titled “The Church on Ruby Road‚” it airs December 25th on Disney+.

A Disaster of a Vacation: Leave the World Behind

A Disaster of a Vacation: Leave the World Behind

In a beautiful bedroom in Brooklyn‚ a woman packs a suitcase. The bedroom is blue and large; the people who sleep in it‚ Amanda (Julia Roberts) and Clay (Ethan Hawke)‚ obviously don’t do too poorly for themselves. But neither are they the kind of wealthy that results in those pristine‚ spare‚ Pottery Barn-like spaces where everything personal is hidden away. With their two kids‚ Amanda and Clay depart the city for a Long Island getaway. The house they pull up to is the space of the obviously wealthy: elegant‚ sleek‚ but still with hints of warmth. There’s a pool; there’s an even bigger bedroom with a moody piece of art on the wall behind the bed. Teenage Archie (Charlie Evans) just wants to know how far it is to the town where a girl he likes is staying. Young Rose (Farrah Mackenzie) just wants to keep watching Friends on her iPad. And then‚ gradually‚ the world falls apart. Leave the World Behind is based on Rumaan Alam’s novel‚ which came out in 2020‚ a year in which people were certainly left behind by the world. Those of us who were lucky read it while staying home‚ masking up‚ and waiting—either for things to “return to normal‚” or‚ if we were really optimistic‚ for life to return in some improved form. The book was disconcerting‚ slippery‚ and pointed‚ peering into the psyches of its characters‚ digging into their racism and class anxiety. Leave the World Behind‚ the movie‚ is a different beast‚ a Rorschach blot of a film that might be about class and race; it might be about isolationism; it might be about hackers and cybersecurity (and the untrustworthiness of self-driving Teslas); it might be about parents and children and uncrossable chasms; it might be about preppers and the end of the world; it might be about how finding something you care about‚ no matter how unlikely‚ will help you deal. It is probably about all of those things‚ but people will‚ of course‚ see different things in it. Image: Netflix What it is‚ inarguably‚ is a Sam Esmail film. Esmail created the brilliant series Mr. Robot‚ which I still believe is criminally underwatched‚ simply because I believe probably everyone should watch it. It is a story about a hacker; it is a story about a person with deeply rooted problems; it is a story about family and class and power; it is a story about the shadowy cabal that maybe runs the world‚ which makes it also a story about capitalism and fear and survival. Early in Leave the World Behind‚ Amanda opens her laptop‚ which sports not an Apple logo but an E‚ for E Corp‚ a central entity in Mr. Robot. That show’s troubled hacker‚ Elliot (Rami Malek) refers to it as Evil Corp. It runs everything‚ until it doesn’t. And in this film‚ everything runs‚ until it doesn’t. A giant oil tanker‚ the White Lion‚ beaches itself right in front of the disbelieving family. (Poor Rose is the only one who sees what’s happening. Poor Rose is us.) The internet goes down. The TV doesn’t work. No one has cell service. There might be an alarming number of deer in the woods‚ but everyone is fine‚ technically. Then comes a late-night knock at the door. This‚ in Alam’s novel‚ is where the sharpest stress factor appears. The problem is less the vague end of the world than the tension between Clay and Amanda and the two people standing on the stoop‚ who are Black‚ and whose home it is. There is a blackout in the city‚ and they thought it best to come home. In the book‚ this is a man and his wife; in the movie‚ it’s a man‚ G.H. (Mahershala Ali‚ compelling and smooth) and his daughter‚ Ruth (Myha’la‚ radiating skepticism). The lines are drawn as soon as Amanda says‚ in a brittle voice‚ “This is … your house?” Everyone tenses. She has said the unsayable‚ and it will color every interaction the families have from then on. Image: Netflix Esmail‚ the film’s writer and director‚ unspools everything slowly‚ terribly‚ and calmly. Without the access to everyone’s mind that a novel provides‚ the film can’t fully reveal their secret thoughts‚ their hidden -isms‚ the personal ways the two families dance around each other and the unthinkable‚ unknowable happenings in the world. Some parts remain: Clay absolutely fails a woman who he meets on the side of the road. He can’t understand Spanish‚ and he can’t bring himself to just open his car to her. Amanda continues airing her racist doubts to Clay‚ and spars with Ruth‚ who is most willing to say what the adults are thinking but generally not saying. (In one extremely enjoyable bit of dialogue‚ she pinpoints with laser accuracy the problem with every single member of the Sandford family.) But what primarily fills the space is dread. A terrible noise happens. Animals behave strangely. It rains a lot. A drone drops flyers the color of blood. I don’t want to tell you all the things that go wrong‚ but I also don’t need to. You can guess. The world has gone awry in front of us‚ in reality and on screens‚ for so long. The Road. Knock at the Cabin. Every natural disaster movie ever made. Independence Day. We are steeped in apocalyptic images‚ but rarely are they so plain‚ so disconcertingly ordinary‚ as the terrible not-knowing that Esmail depicts here. These people are well-off‚ privileged‚ comfortable‚ and utterly at a loss. What would you do if you lost all your sources of information? What would you assume? Who would you ask for information—who do you think would have it? Clay and Amanda have no answers. G.H. has clients whose worlds are even more elevated‚ more rarified‚ than his own‚ and he tells terrible‚ useful stories about them. Maybe what he explains is what’s happening. Maybe not. He describes terrifying‚ believable scenarios‚ and they offer just enough to keep this story moving while everyone in it falls apart. But they do so with humor‚ with pathos‚ with humanity‚ even when they’re assholes‚ even when they’re mean. The cast is across-the-board excellent: Hawke flails; Roberts seems in an angry sort of stalemate with herself; Ali is magnetic; and Myha’la simmers with anger that masks a real sense of loss. They come together and separate in unexpected combinations: Amanda and G.H. have a beautiful‚ awkward dance party. Rose’s iPad remains improbably locked on the start of the Friends series finale‚ even in the middle of the night. Clay accepts an ill-advised offer from Ruth. Archie tries to masturbate. And Rose grows more desperate to find out what happens with Ross and Rachel. Image: Netflix The Friends through-line in this film is possibly my favorite thing about it. This movie is sleek‚ precise‚ occasionally prone to overzealous camera spins and disconcerting angles‚ some of which are more effective than others. It’s a classy apocalypse‚ one that might come from a plethora of forces (or all of them at once). It plays with uncertainty and dread‚ and refuses to be either a film about people being terrible to each other in a crisis‚ or a story about people coming together in a crisis. It sits with the uncertainty between those things: the world ends but continues. People freak out but are still themselves. No one knows what’s next. Sometimes‚ it’s very funny. Toward the end it offers one image of destruction that will not get out of my head. And it has this perfect thread about Friends. Another viewer might see it as mocking: The world’s ending‚ and this tween just wants to see what happens on her favorite TV series? Spoiled! Heartless! Privileged! The ultimate in toxic self-care! She’s more invested in her stories than her family! Maybe. Or maybe it’s a reminder that there is value in caring about things. Rose keeps going‚ keeps her lonely footing‚ because she cares about something outside of herself. Is it tragic that she cares about Friends and not her family? Maybe‚ but hey‚ have you ever been thirteen? Friends is‚ yes‚ a blockbuster TV series from twenty years ago. But it is also a story about a group of people who stick together‚ who stand by one another throughout their own tumultuous lives. It’s a show that clicked for thousands upon thousands of viewers—up to and including this kid who doesn’t even know the term “rerun.” The power of her desire to see this story through to its end leads to one of the film’s most delightful scenes; the fact that it’s also a scene supporting the value of physical media is just frosting on the apocalyptic cupcake. Leave the World Behind is now streaming on Netflix. Molly Templeton lives and writes in Oregon‚ and spends as much time as possible in the woods. Sometimes she talks about books on Twitter.

EXCLUSIVE: Missouri School District Would Assign Boys to Bunk With Girls on Field Trips if They Identify as Girls

FIRST ON THE DAILY SIGNAL – A Missouri school district’s procedure on overnight trips stipulates that students will be assigned to room with others of the sex they identify with‚ meaning that biological males who identify as female will be assigned to sleep in the same room as girls. Room assignments for field trips should be same-sex‚ with sex being “determined by how the student identifies‚” Webster Groves High School Assistant Principal Dwight Kirksey said in an email‚ according to public documents obtained through the Freedom of Information Act and obtained by The Daily Signal.   Shane Williamson‚ director of the school’s diversity‚ equity‚ and inclusion office‚ asked Kirskey how to handle the room assignment for a student whose “gender identity and sex assigned at birth do not match” for an overnight trip to retreat center Camp Wyman in September 2022.  Webster Groves School District‚ located in the suburbs of St. Louis‚ has taken students on trips to Camp Wyman in Eureka‚ Missouri‚ for 75 years. The retreat center provides a “DEI Word Bank” on its website with terms including “antiracist‚” “intersectionality‚” “unconscious bias‚” “homophobia‚” and “transgender.”  Camp Wyman did not respond to The Daily Signal’s request for comment.  Other school districts with similar rooming policies have led to male and female students being told to sleep in the same bed. Jefferson County Public Schools in Colorado assigned an 11-year-old girl to share a bed with a male student who identifies as a transgender girl while on a cross-country school trip. Her parents filed a lawsuit on Dec. 4. When asked about the practice revealed in the emails‚ Webster Groves Communications Director Derek Duncan told The Daily Signal the district seeks to maximize inclusivity. “We do not have a policy regarding situations such as that‚ but we have processes in place that prioritize inclusivity while respecting personal privacy‚” Duncan said. “Our goal is to create a safe and supportive environment for all students.” Webster Groves School District‚ which enrolls almost 4‚500 students‚ applied its room assignment policy in February 2023 regarding a high school trip abroad.  Social studies teacher Betty Roberts said in an email that she spoke with Kirksey about the sexual identity-based policy‚ but she wondered how to know how students identify.  “I am looking for guidance on how to know how students identify‚ how to collect that information‚ and how to protect student privacy in the process‚” she said in the email to Kirksey and Williamson.  Williamson replied with suggested wording for a Google form to determine students’ preferred sex to room with.  “I reworded the gender identity question because I do not want transgender students to feel like they will be forced to stay based on their gender identity‚” Williamson said.  Questions on the revised roommate questionnaire include “Student last and first name‚” “Preferred name‚” and roommate requests. Williamson’s recommended form asks students to “Please share your gender identity because this information is also taken into consideration for room assignments.”  Kirksey and Williamson did not respond to The Daily Signal’s requests for comment.  Webster Groves has no board-approved policy on transgender roommate assignments‚ so most parents are not aware that biological males and females could be forced to share a room on an overnight field trip.  Martin Bennet‚ secretary and treasurer of the St. Louis County Family Association‚ the education advocacy nonprofit which conducted the Freedom of Information Act request‚ told The Daily Signal that parents should be alarmed about the district’s policies.   “Most any parent does not want their child sleeping with a child from the opposite biological sex and would recoil at the thought‚” he said. “I advise parents to no longer assume that common sense practices prevail in suburban schools since many suburban school districts have fully embraced Critical Theory and social justice ideologies.” Have an opinion about this article? Jimmy Carter Personally Experienced Voter Fraud. His First Election Was Stolen.

With the passing of Rosalynn Carter‚ former President Jimmy Carter lost his lifetime partner‚ and my deepest sympathies go out to him and his family. The former first lady’s death‚ however‚ reminded me of something relevant to election integrity that many Americans may not realize: Organized voter fraud in Jimmy Carter’s first run for office stole his election.  The only reason Carter ended up in office when he did is because he claimed publicly that he had won and went to court to fight to overturn the election. Apparently‚ that’s considered a criminal act in Georgia today and can get you charged with violating the state’s racketeering law. Perhaps because of his personal experience‚ Carter is one of the few leaders in the Democrat Party who has acknowledged that people should be seriously concerned about election fraud‚ and who took steps to try to address the problem. One such step was the bipartisan recommendations by the 2005 Commission on Federal Election Reform‚ which Carter co-chaired with former Secretary of State James A. Baker III.  Among the recommendations in the commission’s final report was a call for states to implement “a photo ID system for voters” that would provide “free IDs for those without driver’s licenses.”  Fortunately‚ Carter’s home state of Georgia and many other states implemented that recommendation‚ as well as others made by the election reform commission‚ including measures intended to produce “complete‚ accurate‚ and valid” voter registration lists‚ which the commission said must be a goal of state election officials. So‚ what happened to Carter when he first ran for the Georgia state Senate in Democrats’ primary election of 1962? One of the best accounts was written by the late Jim Wooten‚ a highly respected former journalist and editor of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution who I had the privilege of knowing when I lived in Atlanta.   In his 1978 book “Dasher: The Roots and the Rising of Jimmy Carter‚” Wooten recounts how Carter decided to challenge the local incumbent‚ described as “an entrenched Establishment figure.” Carter worked hard and campaigned throughout the Senate district. His prospects seemed high—until he arrived in Georgetown‚ a small town in Quitman County‚ on Election Day. Carter saw “no voting booths in the courthouse and all voters were marking their ballots on a table in full view” of the “local legislator and dominant political boss‚” Wooten writes. The political boss was “supervising” the election and telling voters who to vote for‚ even pulling ballots out of the ballot box to check them. Carter’s attempt to get the Columbus‚ Georgia‚ newspaper to write a story about the situation proved unavailing. After Carter called the newspaper from a local cafe‚ an editor sent out a reporter who happened to be friends with the local political boss. Carter said the reporter “was not interested in writing any story critical of election procedures in Quitman County‚” Wooten writes. By the end of Election Day‚ Carter was ahead by 70 votes. To no one’s surprise‚ the results from Georgetown were the last to arrive. When they came in‚ Carter had lost by just a relative few votes.  A total of 443 ballots were in the box‚ Wooten writes‚ “and according to the names listed‚ 126 of them voted alphabetically!” Moreover‚ when the “ballots were unfolded‚ there were sometime four to eight of them folded together‚” making it obvious that “the box had been stuffed.” Carter and a lawyer went to Georgetown. When they began taking statements from local residents‚ they discovered that “what had happened that day had been going on on election days as long as most people could remember.”  The “local Democratic machinery laughed at [Carter’s] efforts to reverse the decision‚” Wooten writes‚ because the election was over and there “was nothing he could do.” But Carter and his lawyers doggedly continued their investigation‚ which resulted in their being followed by “local lieutenants of the organization” and targeted by “threatening phone calls.” They discovered that votes had been cast by individuals who “were dead‚ in prison‚ or had long ago moved away and voted in other communities.” Others in whose names ballots had been cast said they hadn’t actually voted. But the newspapers characterized Carter “as a politically naïve sorehead and a poor loser‚” while state Democrat Party officials were “aloof or downright hostile.” The “local judge and district attorney had strong ties in the county” and refused to do anything about the fraud‚ Wooten writes.  However‚ Carter wouldn’t give up even though the media‚ his own political party‚ and the local justice system were against him. The future governor and president went to court with a lawyer recommended by his friend Griffin Bell (who went on to become the 72nd attorney general of the United States during the Carter administration). Carter’s lawyer‚ Charles Kirbo‚ managed to get a hearing before a judge outside the state Senate district in which Carter was running. That judge declared Carter the winner because the election in Georgetown was “so thoroughly tainted by vote fraud that there was absolutely no way to determine what had been the voters’ original and genuine intent.” Accordingly‚ the judge said‚ the election would be decided by the votes cast elsewhere in the Senate district. One would have thought that would be the end of the story.  But a bizarre procedural quirk allowed the now-losing candidate to appeal the judge’s decision to Democrats’ local Executive Committee‚ which was controlled by the corrupt local political boss. He reinstated the incumbent. Carter had to appeal to the state party chair‚ J.B. Fuqua‚ “a newcomer to state politics‚” who supposedly was unavailable because of a hunting trip in Canada. Carter’s lawyer went all the way to Canada‚ hunted down Fuqua‚ presented Carter’s case‚ and convinced Fuqua to declare Carter the Democrat nominee the weekend before the general election. The Georgetown political boss eventually was convicted of voter fraud‚ not for what he did in Carter’s election but for fraudulent acts in connection with a prior congressional election. Yet‚ this inveterate vote thief only drew a suspended sentence. Once in office as a state senator‚ Carter spearheaded a comprehensive reform of the state’s election code that passed the Georgia Legislature. According to Wooten‚ Carter recalled that during the debate‚ “someone suggested as a compromise that no one be allowed to vote who had been dead more than three years.” Keep in mind several points in this story. First‚ the importance of observers. If Carter had not seen what was happening on the ground in Georgetown‚ he would not have known his election had been stolen. Think about that the next time you hear opponents of election reforms argue that we need to restrict the access of observers. Second‚ note the media’s lack of interest in covering the story‚ and how Carter was criticized for raising doubts about the outcome of the election. That lack of interest extended to local prosecutors and judges who had ties to the political powers that be. Does that sound familiar‚ over 60 years later? Third‚ when the local political boss finally was convicted of voter fraud‚ he got a suspended sentence. That’s another problem that occurs too frequently even when election fraud cases are investigated and prosecuted. The light sentences given by judges for attempts to subvert our democratic process often just don’t fit the seriousness of the crimes. Fourth‚ the theft going on was all within the same political party‚ something that happens all too often‚ as demonstrated by the reported cases in The Heritage Foundation’s Election Fraud Database. (The Daily Signal is Heritage’s news outlet.) Fifth‚ Jimmy Carter’s election to the Georgia state Senate‚ which he initially lost by a few votes‚ once again illustrates what the U.S. Supreme Court said in 2008 in Crawford v. Marion County‚ when it upheld Indiana’s voter ID law. Fraud is especially troublesome‚ the high court ruled‚ when “it could affect the outcome of a close election”—and we have close elections all the time in this country. Jimmy Carter’s experience also brings up one final question‚ one that reminds me of an old proverb: “Mighty oaks from little acorns grow.” If Carter had not had—as Wooten aptly describes it—the “stubborn‚ dogged determination‚ fueled by his seething anger‚” to fight to overturn his stolen election‚ and hadn’t been elected to the Georgia state Senate‚ the first step in his political career‚ would he ever have been elected president? We’ll never know. Have an opinion about this article? To sound off‚ please email letters@DailySignal.com‚ and we’ll consider publishing your edited remarks in our regular “We Hear You” feature.
