Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said this week that the 1‚000 Florida National Guard and Florida State Guard soldiers he is sending to Texas are going to help install razor wire and barricades on the southern border. The announcement comes as the Biden administration is trying to stop Texas Governor Greg Abbott from being able to secure his border against millions of illegal aliens who are pouring into his state. DeSantis‚ who noted that Florida was the first state to help Texas with President Joe Biden’s illegal immigration crisis back in 2021‚ made the remarks during an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity late this week after announcing he was deploying the soldiers on Thursday. “As soon as Biden reversed policies‚ as soon as he embraced an open border‚ we knew this was going to be a big issue‚” he said. “So we have responded to calls from Texas throughout the years.
