Colin Farrell Gets Consumed by Los Angeles’ Underbelly in Sugar Trailer

News Sugar Colin Farrell Gets Consumed by Los Angeles’ Underbelly in Sugar Trailer If you like Chinatown vibes and Hollywood drama‚ this one is for you. By Vanessa Armstrong | Published on March 5‚ 2024 icon-comment 0 Share New Share Twitter Facebook Pinterest RSS Feed Apple TV+ has a hardboiled detective series coming our way this spring. The show‚ titled Sugar‚ has Colin Farrell starring as the titular character‚ a hardboiled private investigator in current-day Los Angeles whose latest case—searching for a missing woman—entangles him with the city’s dark underside. The streaming platform released a trailer for the series today‚ and it looks like the series from writer Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend‚ Thor) is marinating in noir aesthetic even though it takes place in sunny SoCal. Here’s the official synopsis: Sugar is a contemporary‚ unique take on one of the most popular and significant genres in literary‚ motion picture and television history: the private detective story. Academy Award-nominee Colin Farrell stars as John Sugar‚ an American private investigator on the heels of the mysterious disappearance of Olivia Siegel‚ the beloved granddaughter of legendary Hollywood producer Jonathan Siegel. As Sugar tries to determine what happened to Olivia‚ he will also unearth Siegel family secrets; some very recent‚ others long-buried. Is anyone else getting some Chinatown vibes? In addition to Farrell‚ Sugar stars Kirby (Sandman)‚ Amy Ryan (The Wire)‚ James Cromwell (Succession)‚ Anna Gunn (Breaking Bad)‚ Dennis Boutsikaris (Better Call Saul)‚ Nate Corddry (Mindhunter)‚ Sydney Chandler (Don’t Worry Darling)‚ and Alex Hernandez (Invasion). That’s an impressive roster of actors‚ and that‚ along with this trailer (and my penchant for noir mysteries based in Los Angeles)‚ make me eager to see this once it hits my television screen. The first two episodes of Sugar’s eight-episode season premiere on Apple TV+ on Friday‚ April 5‚ 2024 on Apple TV+. The remaining episodes will drop weekly every Friday. Check out the trailer below. The Wild Robot Trailer Is Great‚ But Has the Audacity to Make You Cry

News The Wild Robot The Wild Robot Trailer Is Great‚ But Has the Audacity to Make You Cry By Vanessa Armstrong | Published on March 5‚ 2024 icon-comment 0 Share New Share Twitter Facebook Pinterest RSS Feed DreamWorks Animation has adapted Peter Brown’s middle grade novel‚ The Wild Robot‚ and if the trailer released today is any indication‚ it looks like it will be one worth watching. Not only does it come from writer-director Chris Sanders‚ whose previous credits include How to Train Your Dragon‚ The Croods‚ and Lilo &; Stitch‚ but it also features a stellar voice cast‚ beautiful imagery‚ and a robot that may or may not remind you of Mosscap from Becky Chambers’ Monk &; Robot series. Here’s the official synopsis for The Wild Robot: The epic adventure follows the journey of a robot—ROZZUM unit 7134‚ “Roz” for short—that is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and must learn to adapt to the harsh surroundings‚ gradually building relationships with the animals on the island and becoming the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling. And here’s that voice cast I hinted at above: Lupita Nyong’o (Us‚ The Black Panther) is robot Roz; Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us‚ The Mandalorian) is fox Fink; Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek‚ Best in Show) is opossum Pinktail; Bill Nighy (Living‚ Love Actually) is goose Longneck; Kit Connor (Heartstopper‚ Rocketman) is gosling Brightbill; and Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once) is Vontra‚ a robot that will intersect with Roz’s life on the island. We’ll also apparently hear Mark Hamill (Star Wars‚ of course)‚ Matt Berry (What We Do in the Shadows)‚ and Ving Rhames (Pulp Fiction) as well in some shape‚ way‚ or form. The Wild Robot premieres in theaters on September 20‚ 2024. And remember‚ as the end of the released clip reminds us: “Sometimes to survive‚ we must become more than we were programmed to be.” Check out the promised trailer below‚ which rudely made me cry:[end-mark] The post <;i>;The Wild Robot<;/i>; Trailer Is Great‚ But Has the Audacity to Make You Cry appeared first on Reactor.

All the New Fantasy Books Arriving in March!

Book Recommendations new releases All the New Fantasy Books Arriving in March! Changeling spies‚ cursed blades‚ forbidden Gods‚ and more in this month’s fantasy titles By Reactor | Published on March 5‚ 2024 icon-comment 0 Share New Share Twitter Facebook Pinterest RSS Feed Here’s the full list of fantasy titles heading your way in March! Keep track of all the new SFF releases here. All title summaries are taken and/or summarized from copy provided by the publisher. Release dates are subject to change. March 5 The Hidden Queen (Nightfall #2) – Peter V. Brett (Del Rey) Humanity thought the war with demonkind was over. Now‚ after less than a generation to rebuild‚ the demon corelings have returned with a vengeance. The Spear of Ala—the fortress that stands at the gates of the demon’s hive—is the last bastion against the horde‚ and reports say it may already have fallen. Olive Paper is expected to take the vanguard in the fight. Only an heir of Kaji can wield the artifact that opens the gates of the Spear of Ala‚ and as Ahmann Jardir’s child‚ Olive seems destined for a role as leader and savior. But Olive does not wish to follow in her father’s footsteps any more than she did her mother’s. Darin Bales was born with supernatural senses that he struggles to process‚ and even those who love him believe he can barely take care of himself. Yet to save his mother from the clutches of Alagai Ka‚ the demon king‚ Darin will brave anything to mount a rescue. Darin and Olive each strive to walk their own path but find themselves inextricably tied to the legacies of their parents and to a fated confrontation with the demon king and his new hatchling queen. If they fail‚ humanity may not survive. Dungeons &; Dragons: The Fallbacks: Bound for Ruin — Jaleigh Johnson (Random House Worlds) Tessalynde is an ambitious young rogue who dreams of leading Faerûn’s foremost adventuring party. While the crew she’s gathered isn’t the stuff of legend yet‚ she’s confident her guidance can get them there. The team: Anson‚ a fighter too stubborn to stay down‚ even when the odds are stacked against him. Cazrin‚ a self-taught wizard determined to test her theoretical mettle against the real world. Baldric‚ a cleric who refuses to tie himself to a single deity when he can trade favors with them all. Lark‚ a bard with as many secrets as songs. And‚ of course‚ Uggie‚ a monstrous pet otyugh who loves giving hugs and eating trash. Their first job: recovering a mysterious spellbook from a lost temple for a hefty payout. Tess hopes this assignment can turn her group of fledgling freelancers into a true team. But when their client is killed‚ their coin and his murderer both vanish‚ leaving the party to take the fall. Stuck with a sentient‚ bloodthirsty grimoire and pursued by mercenaries and the undead‚ this is hardly the mission Tess envisioned. Her crew must save the day‚ get the gold‚ and clear the party’s name—which they haven’t even agreed upon yet! With the threats against them mounting‚ a single mistake will see this party over before it even begins. Can this band of mismatched misfits stay together in the face of danger? Or are they bound for ruin? House of Open Wounds (Tyrant Philosophers #2) — Adrian Tchaikovsky (Head of Zeus) City-by-city‚ kingdom-by-kingdom‚ the Palleseen have sworn to bring Perfection and Correctness to an imperfect world. As their legions scour the world of superstition with the bright flame of reason‚ so they deliver a mountain of ragged‚ holed and scorched flesh to the field hospital tents just behind the frontline. Which is where Yasnic‚ one-time priest‚ healer and rebel‚ finds himself. Reprieved from the gallows and sent to war clutching a box of orphan Gods‚ he has been sequestered to a particularity unorthodox medical unit. Led by ‘the Butcher’‚ an ogre of a man who’s a dab hand with a bone-saw and an alchemical tincture‚ the unit’s motley crew of conscripts‚ healers and orderlies are no strangers to the horrors of war. Their’s is an unspeakable trade: elbow-deep in gore they have a first-hand view of the suffering caused by flesh-rending monsters‚ arcane magical weaponry and embittered enemy soldiers. Entrusted—for now—with saving lives deemed otherwise un-saveable‚ the field hospital’s crew face a precarious existence. Their work with unapproved magic‚ necromancy‚ demonology and Yansic’s thoroughly illicit Gods could lead to the unit being disbanded‚ arrested or worse. Beset by enemies within and without‚ the last thing anyone needs is a miracle The Truth of the Aleke (Forever Desert #2) — Moses Ose Utomi (Tordotcom Publishing) 500 years after the events of The Lies of the Ajungo‚ the City of Truth stands as the last remaining free city of the Forever Desert. A bastion of freedom and peace‚ the city has successfully weathered near-constant attacks from the Cult of Tutu‚ who have besieged it for three centuries‚ attempting to destroy its warriors and subjugate its people. Seventeen-year-old Osi is a Junior Peacekeeper in the City. When the mysterious leader of the Cult‚ known only as the Aleke‚ commits a massacre in the capitol and steals the sacred God’s Eyes‚ Osi steps forward to valiantly defend his home. For his bravery he is tasked with a tremendous responsibility―destroy the Cult of Tutu‚ bring back the God’s Eyes‚ and discover the truth of the Aleke. March 12 Sunbringer (Fallen Gods #2) — Hannah Kaner (Harper Voyager) Gods are forbidden in the kingdom of Middren—but now they are stirring‚ whispering of war. Godkiller Kissen sacrificed herself to vanquish the fire god Hseth‚ who murdered her family and endangered her friends. But gods cannot be destroyed so easily‚ and Hseth’s power threatens to reform with even greater strength and a thirst for vengeance. As tensions rise throughout the land‚ the kingdom needs its Godkiller more than ever. Still reeling from the loss of Kissen‚ young noble Inara and her little god of white lies‚ Skedi‚ have set out to discover more about the true nature of their bond. As the divide between gods and humans widens‚ Inara and Skedi will uncover secrets that could determine the fate of the war to come. Meanwhile‚ Elogast‚ no longer a loyal knight of King Arren‚ has been tasked with killing the man he once called friend. The king vowed to eradicate all gods throughout the land‚ but has now entered into an unholy pact with the most dangerous of them all. And where his heart once beat‚ a god now burns. Empire of the Damned (Empire of the Vampire #2) — Jay Kristoff (St. Martin’s) Gabriel de León has saved the Holy Grail from death‚ but his chance to end the endless night is lost. Drawn into an uneasy alliance with the mysterious vampire Liathe‚ Gabriel must now deliver the Grail to ancients of the Blood Esani‚ and learn the truth of how Daysdeath might be finally undone. But the Last Silversaint faces peril‚ within and without. Pursued by terrors of the Blood Voss‚ drawn into warfare between the Blood Dyvok and duskdancers of the frozen Highlands‚ and ravaged by his own rising bloodlust‚ Gabriel may not survive to see the Grail learn her truth. And that truth may be too awful for any to imagine. A Feather So Black — Lyra Selene (Orbit) In a kingdom where magic has been lost‚ Fia is a rare changeling‚ left behind by the wicked Fair Folk when they stole the High Queen’s daughter and retreated behind the locked gates of Tír na nÓg. Most despise Fia’s fae blood. But the queen raises her as a daughter and trains her to be a spy. Meanwhile‚ the real princess Eala is bound to Tír na nÓg‚ cursed to become a swan by day and only returning to her true form at night. When a hidden gate to the realm is discovered‚ Fia is tasked by the queen to retrieve the princess and break her curse. But she doesn’t go alone: with her is prince Rogan‚ Fia’s dearest childhood friend—and Eala’s betrothed. As they journey through the forests of the Folk‚ where magic winds through the roots of the trees and beauty can be a deadly illusion‚ Fia’s mission is complicated by her feelings for the prince… and her unexpected attraction to the dark-hearted fae lord holding Eala captive. Irian might be more monster than man‚ but he seems to understand Fia in a way no one ever has. Soon‚ Fia begins to question the truth of her mission. But time is running out to break her sister’s curse. And unraveling the secrets of the past might destroy everything she has come to love. March 19 The Weavers of Alamaxa (Alamaxa #2) — Hadeer Elsbai (Harper Voyager) The Daughters of Izdihar—a group of women fighting for the vote and against the patriarchal rule of Parliament—have finally made strides in having their voices heard…only to find them drowned out by the cannons of the fundamentalist Ziranis. As long as Alamaxa continues to allow for the elemental magic of the weavers—and insist on allowing an academy to teach such things—the Zirani will stop at nothing to end what they perceive is a threat to not only their way of life‚ but the entire world. Two such weavers‚ Nehal and Giorgina‚ had come together despite their differences to grow both their political and weaving power. But after the attack‚ Nehal wakes up in a Zirani prison‚ and Giorgina is on the run in her besieged city. If they can reunite again‚ they can rally Alamaxa to fight off the encroaching Zirani threat. Yet with so much in their way—including a contingent of Zirani insurgents with their own ideas about rebellion—this will be no easy task. And the last time a weaver fought back‚ the whole world was shattered. Two incredible women are all that stands before an entire army. But they’ve fought against power before and won. This time‚ though‚ it’s no longer about rhetoric. This time it’s about magic and blood. Song of the Huntress — Lucy Holland (Redhook) Britain‚ 60AD. Hoping to save her lover‚ her land‚ and her people from the Romans‚ Herla makes a desperate pact with the king of the Otherworld. But years pass unheeded in his realm‚ and she escapes to find everyone she loved long dead. Cursed to wield his blade‚ she becomes Lord of the Hunt. And for centuries‚ she rides‚ leading her immortal warriors and reaping wanderers’ souls. Until the night she meets a woman on a bloody battlefield—a Saxon queen with ice-blue eyes. Queen Æthelburg of Wessex is a proven fighter. But when she leads her forces to disaster in battle‚ her husband’s court turns against her. Yet King Ine needs Æthel more than ever. Something dark and dangerous is at work in the Wessex court. His own brother seeks to usurp him. And their only hope is the magic in Ine’s bloodline that’s lain dormant since ancient days. The moment she and Æthel meet‚ Herla knows it’s no coincidence. The dead kings are waking. The Otherworld seeks to rise‚ to bring the people of Britain under its dominion. And as Herla and Æthel grow closer‚ Herla must find her humanity—and a way to break the curse—before it’s too late. March 26 The Emperor and the Endless Palace — Justinian Huang (MIRA Books) In the year 4 BCE‚ an ambitious courtier is called upon to seduce the young emperor—but quickly discovers they are both ruled by blood‚ sex and intrigue. In 1740‚ a lonely innkeeper agrees to help a mysterious visitor procure a rare medicine‚ only to unleash an otherworldly terror instead. And in present-day Los Angeles‚ a college student meets a beautiful stranger and cannot shake the feeling they’ve met before. Across these seemingly unrelated timelines woven together only by the twists and turns of fate‚ two men are reborn‚ lifetime after lifetime. Within the treacherous walls of an ancient palace and the boundless forests of the Asian wilderness to the heart-pounding cement floors of underground rave scenes‚ our lovers are inexplicably drawn to each other‚ constantly tested by the worlds around them. As their many lives intertwine‚ they begin to realize the power of their undying love—a power that transcends time itself…but one that might consume them both. So Many Rooms‚ So Many Bones: Yeji Y. Han’s The Invisible Hotel

Book Recommendations book review So Many Rooms‚ So Many Bones: Yeji Y. Han’s The Invisible Hotel A review of Yeji Y. Han’s debut literary horror novel. By Tobias Carroll | Published on March 5‚ 2024 icon-comment 0 Share New Share Twitter Facebook Pinterest RSS Feed Whether you’re staying at a roadside motel for the night or a four-star establishment‚ hotels can be a weird experience. Think about it: It’s a space intended to be both temporary and evocative of all the comforts of home; you don’t need to be a Coraline reader to know that “like something familiar‚ but different” can head into the uncanny very quickly. It’s no surprise‚ then‚ that some writers have found hotels to be the best way to evoke the terror of the uncanny. Stephen King’s The Shining is arguably the best-known example of this‚ and for good reason. (To wit: It’s terrifying.) King’s not alone in tapping into the unsettling potential of hotels as a setting: Juan Martinez’s 2023 novel Extended Stay is set in a hotel located on the outskirts of Las Vegas that turns out to be a sentient being that doesn’t have its guests’ best interests at heart. Yeji Y. Ham’s The Invisible Hotel is another entry in this unlikely subgenre‚ albeit one that blends its horror with surrealism and dream logic. It wouldn’t be out of place on a shelf or syllabus beside King’s and Martinez’s novels—but it also has something in common with Catherynne M. Valente’s Palimpsest‚ a novel about a mysterious city that only allows access to itself under specific circumstances. The hotel that haunts Yewon‚ the young woman at the heart of Ham’s novel‚ is something like that: a space at once liminal and shared‚ its agenda and reason for being mysterious. There’s also the matter of the bones. We’ll get to the bones before too long‚ don’t you worry. Buy the Book The Invisible Hotel Yeji Y. Han Buy Book icon-close The Invisible Hotel Yeji Y. Han Buy this book from: AmazonBarnes and NobleiBooksIndieBoundTarget At the beginning of The Invisible Hotel‚ Ham introduces us to Yewon‚ the novel’s protagonist and narrator. She’s a young South Korean woman who is‚ when the book opens‚ in the midst of the last shift at her retail job before the business closes down entirely. It’s there that a woman named Ms. Han approaches her‚ asking if Yewon would be willing to drive her to the prison where her brother is incarcerated. “I need to see him. I need to‚” says Ms. Han. After Ms. Han leaves‚ the manager at Yewon’s workplace mentions that Ms. Han has a North Korean accent; in the next few pages‚ we’ll learn that tensions are high between North and South Korea. Or there might be peace talks soon. Or both. That sense where anything might be possible — from nuclear warfare to landmark peace—isn’t necessarily grounds for hope‚ but it’s presented as even more unnerving than a more clarified option. Even so‚ this novel has been in a relatively realistic mode so far. Sure‚ there are allusions to hidden trauma and subjects the characters can’t broach‚ but still—the overarching sense is of a world that follows the same patterns as our own. And then Yewon goes to her family’s home and notes that her mother is in the bathroom‚ washing something. “I used to help her‚” Yewon thinks. “It was our family tradition.” At this point‚ readers might be wondering something like‚ Wait‚ what was your family tradition exactly? Some were tiny‚ as small as my pinkie. A phalanx. Maybe a toe. In the basin‚ what would have been a scapula. A shoulder blade. Or something of a spine‚ a sternum. Shattered pelvis‚ scarred ribs‚ and snapped femur. Too shattered‚ too burnt‚ destroyed. Not a single bone was whole. As many as a hundred lay inside the bathtub. Soon enough‚ we’ll learn a little more about the bathtub—including that it’s a family tradition to give birth to children there as well. The bones—and their smell‚ which Ham revisits repeatedly—also factor into The Invisible Hotel’s other deeply uncanny element: the hotel that gives the novel its title‚ and which Yewon repeatedly returns to in dreams. There’s something symbolic about the bones: The idea of them as a kind of frustrating family tradition dovetails with Yewon’s frustrations at her small-town life and her inner conflict about whether she should seek out her own place in the world. But her familial ties prompt indecision‚ even as she’s aware that procrastinating on this can easily lead to spending months‚ if not years‚ in a kind of stasis. A metaphorical stasis‚ that is. That’s before getting to the more literal stasis of the hotel from Yewon’s recurring dreams‚ which she gradually begins to understand has a historic weight to it. Yewon’s drives with Ms. Han also prove clarifying in some respects‚ even as the two women seem to be processing the same events in radically different ways. The Invisible Hotel is a deceptively challenging read in how it moves in and out of different registers. At one moment‚ it’s a realistic coming-of-age tale; in the next‚ it veers into dreamlike Gothic horror. And yet that dissonance appears to be the point of the story being told: that living in close proximity (both literally and metaphorically) can create its own sort of horror and transform even the most quotidian moments into something best analyzed through dream logic. “What should have been a temporary stay turned permanent. At the end of every wait‚ there was a door. We each had a room‚” Yewon muses halfway through the novel. “All of us‚ waiting. What would come after?” Ham sustains the tension of that final question across the breadth of this novel. It isn’t always an easy read‚ but I suspect I’ll be thinking about it for a long time to come. [end-mark] The Invisible Hotel is published by Zando. The post So Many Rooms‚ So Many Bones: Yeji Y. China’s Investment in Critical Minerals Explodes After Biden’s Signing of Climate Bill

China has seen a huge increase in investment related to critical minerals essential for sourcing green energy products since President Joe Biden signed his signature climate bill in 2022‚ according to a recent analysis published by Australia’s Griffith University. By way of the Chinese Communist Party’s Belt and Road Initiative‚ Chinese entities in 2023 massively stepped up their investments in mining minerals such as lithium‚ copper‚ and nickel‚ all of which are essential for manufacturing products such as the lithium-ion batteries that power electric vehicles‚ according to the Griffith Asia Institute’s report. Last year’s totals for Belt and Road Initiative mining investment grew by 158% relative to 2022‚ and the Griffith Asia Institute projects more growth in such investment targeting green energy‚ mining‚ and related activities through the rest of 2024. The Belt and Road Initiative is a Chinese Communist Party-backed program that aims to build out a massive network of infrastructure projects and developments that reach around the world‚ according to the Council on Foreign Relations. Critics have asserted that BRI investments and construction contracts double as a mechanism for China to lay debt traps for developing countries that can later give the CCP significant leverage over those governments. Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act into law in August 2022‚ promising that its allotment of $369 billion for green energy-related subsidies would make the American economy cleaner while spurring a resurgence in American manufacturing driven by mass production of products such as solar panels and electric vehicles‚ or EVs. Many of the new law’s critics pointed out that China’s dominance of supply chains for the raw materials needed to manufacture these products could lead to Chinese entities capturing the value of taxpayer-funded green energy subsidies or otherwise benefiting from the legislation. In the first full year after Biden signed the law‚ Chinese entities invested more than $19 billion in mining-related projects‚ with about $15 billion of that investment poured into mining nickel‚ lithium‚ copper‚ and aluminum‚ according to the Griffith Asia Institute. In 2021‚ the last full year before the Inflation Reduction Act became law‚ total Belt and Road Initiative investment in mining did not exceed $10 billion. Numerous reports have emerged indicating that Chinese entities look to cash in on the law’s provisions purportedly designed first and foremost to benefit American enterprise. To access its loopholes‚ Chinese entities maneuver to access U.S. subsidies by establishing operations in places such as Morocco‚ an American ally that isn’t excluded from benefiting from the law‚ while other Chinese companies position themselves to cash in by opening up shop in the U.S. using joint ventures or subsidiaries. U.S. companies also have made many substantial investments in green energy initiatives with the help of the Inflation Reduction Act’s robust subsidies. Since Biden took office‚ the private sector has poured more than $360 billion into green energy-related investments‚ according to the White House. “I’m not — we’re not looking to hurt China‚ sincerely‚” Biden said during a Sept. 10‚ 2023‚ speech in Vietnam. “We’re all better off if China does well—if China does well by the international rules. It grows the economy … we’re not looking to decouple from China.” Nevertheless‚ some level of apprehension exists within the Biden administration about Chinese green energy products. Beyond concerns about Uyghur Muslim slave labor’s alleged links to Chinese green supply chains that have persisted for years‚ the administration announced Thursday that it is probing certain types of Chinese electric vehicles perceived to pose potential national security and intelligence risks. “China is determined to dominate the future of the auto market‚ including by using unfair practices‚’’ Biden said Thursday in a written statement. “China’s policies could flood our market with its vehicles‚ posing risks to our national security. I’m not going to let that happen on my watch.” The White House did not respond immediately to a request for comment. ‘Let The Reckoning Begin’: Detransitioners Vindicated By Expose of WPATH Experimentation on Minors

Detransitioners have been trying to warn the public that so-called “gender-affirming care” — transgender surgeries‚ hormones‚ and puberty blockers — is both experimental and dangerous‚ especially for minors. Now‚ thanks to the efforts of journalist Michael Shellenberger‚ we know that World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) doctors and medical experts pushing these practices were well aware of the experimental and lasting nature of the procedures they were recommending. Yet these so-called health professionals pushed forward‚ despite alarming awareness of tumors developing from hormones‚ reduced sexual function‚ lack of proper informed consent for minors‚ and more‚ according to Shellenberger’s reporting. “Let the reckoning begin‚” says Luka Hein‚ a young woman who underwent a double mastectomy when she was only 16 years old‚ believing that she would be happier if she could become a boy. “Because of organizations like WPATH I’m missing body parts and struggle with pain.” The WPATH medical professionals acknowledge in the messages that some of the minors who are being given puberty blockers have no idea that they will be sterilized. Other messages reveal WPATH doctors saying they went ahead with performing surgery on patients with severe mental health problems‚ even though they were worried the patients couldn’t give full informed consent. “I’m relieved the files are out in the world for everyone to read‚” Shellenberger told my colleague Tyler O’Neil‚ sharing that the files reveal WPATH’s “whole paradigm falling apart over the last three years.” “Nobody can claim to understand the gender issue without reading ‘The WPATH Files‚'” he added. The news prompted a number of detransitioners to speak up‚ sharing the mental and physical anguish that they have gone through as a result of this ideology. “I was a scared kid who thought doctors were going to help me…and look at how these butchers talk about what happened to those like me behind closed doors‚” Hein added in another “X” post. On a more positive note‚ since I reposted the scar picture‚ I want to put it side by side with a more recent picture. I am determined to thrive‚ in spite of what has happened. #detrans #detransition pic.twitter.com/ua0Yfi3MaX— Luka Hein (@onedonebun) March 5‚ 2024 A detransitioner is someone who attempted to transition to another gender‚ then realized that such an attempt is impossible‚ and “de-transitioned.” Many of these individuals‚ like Hein‚ say they were betrayed into irreversible hormonal and surgical procedures by doctors and therapists who ignored biological realities in favor of ideology. I document numerous stories of these transitioners in my upcoming book‚ “Detrans: True Stories of Escaping the Gender Ideology Cult‚” an intimate look at the lived experiences of detransitioners‚ including the manipulative therapy sessions‚ botched surgeries‚ and attempts to construct phantom body parts. “WPATH gave my therapist the green light to destroy my body‚” said Abel Garcia‚ a young man who attempted to transition to become a girl by taking hormone and undergoing breast augmentation surgery. “The people who hurt me sleep with no problem‚ while I live in emotional‚ physical &; mental pain.” “These files prove what detransitioners have always said but now it’s coming from their own mouth‚” he added. “Let the truth prevail.” WPATH gave my therapist the green light to destroy my body. Let the truth prevail https://t.co/DTpy5bz9PO— Abel Garcia (@OfficialAbelG) March 5‚ 2024 Chloe Cole‚ a young woman who underwent a double mastectomy as part of her teenaged gender transition‚ specifically addressed WPATH conversations reported by Shellenberger about developmentally delayed 13 year olds attempting transition. “There is no ethical approach to taking an already developmentally delayed child and preventing them from going on the only path they have towards growing into an adult‚” she said. “We are leaving vulnerable children stunted for life.” “This is unimaginable levels of cruelty‚” added Cole. Laura Becker‚ another female detransitioner who has become an outspoken advocate against gender ideology‚ commented on Shellenberger’s revelation that doctors asked permission of all the “alters‚” or alternative identities‚ of one client who had dissociative identity disorder (DID). “I can’t believe this‚” she wrote. “WPATH doctors got ‘consent’ from all a patient’s ‘alter’ personalities before doing surgery… instead of you know‚ treating the DID symptoms. Absolutely unethical.” Some detransitioners called for punishments for the medical professionals who led them down this path. “Justice for all victims‚” wrote Richie‚ a man who attempted to transition to become a woman. “Jail time for the surgeons that held the scalpel‚ and the therapists that signed off the surgery. If I took everything from them‚ we still wouldn’t be even.” “I didn’t think anyone should be jailed when I first ‘came to’ post-transition‚” chimed in Michelle‚ another detransitioned woman‚ on X. “Changed my mind now. Probably would’ve still had some mercy in me if we hadn’t been gaslit so badly.” Prisha Mosley‚ a young woman who has detransitioned and travels the country testifying in defense of biological sex‚ emotionally shared on Monday evening that she could not yet bring herself to read “The WPATH Files”: “No one deserves this monstrous form of irreversible medical harm…” WPATH standardized blackmail and abusive medical experimentation and exploitation. Detransitioners have been saying it for a while now: Doctors have forgotten their oath to Do No Harm. #WPATHFiles https://t.co/wRs8evulsH— Prisha ?
