Bear Gets A Look At Itself In Mirror — And Doesn’t Like What It Sees!

We don’t always love how we look‚ but at least most of us don’t attack the mirror like this bear did! A hilarious YouTube video shows footage of a bear coming across a mirror in the middle of the woods. When the animal saw their own reflection in the glass‚ they freaked out and threw the object to the floor. Maybe they were having a bad hair day! Of course‚ it’s also possible that the bear didn’t understand that the mirror image was only a reflection. Perhaps the animal thought they were looking a rival bear in the face. Whatever the reason for the outburst‚ we can’t deny that the creature’s reaction was just too funny! “Wow‚” wrote one commenter. “I guess he found his image unbearable.” Another joked‚ “That’s me when I see myself in the mirror first thing in the morning.” Wild animals have been known to respond to their reflections in a variety of ways. For example‚ this bear was intensely curious when they happened upon a large mirror in the wild. They spent the longest time staring at their own image and trying to discover the workings behind this seemingly magical object. Watch the video below to see this curious bear’s reaction to finding a mirror in the woods. You can find the source of this story’s featured image here. On Morning Joe: Haley Slavery Slip Shows She Doesn't Realize She Can't Win MAGA Voters

Appearing on today's Morning Joe to discuss the brouhaha [or is it a kerfuffle?] over Nikki Haley's failure to mention slavery when asked the cause of the Civil War‚ Matt Lewis‚ a Daily Beast columnist who described himself today as a "Never Trump conservative‚" suggested that in doing so‚ Haley was misreading her core constituency. As Lewis put it: "Nikki Haley shouldn't even be worried about appeasing someone who wants to relitigate the Civil War. Those are not Nikki Haley voters. Nikki Haley was in Berlin‚ New Hampshire‚ running to try to win New Hampshire. Not Alabama‚ not Mississippi. New Hampshire. Her core constituency are not Trump voters. She needs to win independents in New Hampshire and non-Trump‚ center-right voters in New Hampshire. That should be her top priority." Lewis suggested that Haley's mishandling of the question could cost her dearly. His theory was that the only way Haley can win the New Hampshire primary would be if Chris Christie dropped out of the race. But in Lewis's view‚ after Haley's slavery slip‚ Christie—who was seen in a clip roasting Haley on the matter—is now much less likely to drop out.  Lewis also opined that her history of wavering on important issues‚ and her mishandling of the Civil War question‚ "speaks a little bit to character as well." When Scarborough's Away‚ The Panel Will Play Regular Morning Joe viewers know that‚ feigning modesty‚ Joe Scarborough often likes to describe himself as "a simple country lawyer." In fact‚ as we observed here‚ "he clearly wants people to think of him as a razor-sharp legal eagle." With Scarborough having the day off this morning‚ each of the panelists‚ playing off Scarborough's shtick‚ offered increasingly modest descriptions of themselves. Lewis led off‚ saying: "I am a simple country pundit. Not even a country lawyer. Just a country political writer." That elicited a knowing laugh from Willie Geist‚ who clearly understood where Lewis had gone with his line. John Heilemann one-upped Lewis in the modesty department‚ saying‚ "I'm worse than a simple country lawyer or a simple country pundit. I'm just someone sitting here‚ watching these guys on the Supreme Court. Men and women on the Supreme Court." Note the oh-so-woke Heilemann correcting his horrible gaffe of at first speaking only of these "guys" on the Supreme Court. Finally‚ Al Sharpton‚ an inveterate name-dropper who is hardly known for his modesty‚ tried to outdo even Heilemann‚ saying‚ "I'm not a country pundit or someone watching. I'm just a boy preacher from Brooklyn." So self-effacing‚ that trio! Wonder what Scarborough will make of their gentle mocking of his shtick? Here's the transcript. MSNBC Morning Joe 12/29/23 6:30 am ET MATT LEWIS: Look‚ a lot of us kind of Never Trump conservatives were skeptical of Nikki Haley because she has wavered over important moral questions‚ including Donald Trump. And‚ but I would say once the debates began‚ John‚ she‚ the very first Republican primary debate‚ Nikki Haley came out swinging against Donald Trump‚ attacked him for raising the debt.  And I think at that point‚ I thought‚ wow‚ okay‚ Nikki Haley finally maybe has figured out what her brand is‚ who she is‚ what her message is going to be‚ and more importantly‚ who her constituents are. And she has done a pretty good job in the context of the last few months of the campaign of actually being that person.  And if you think about what Nikki Haley needs to do‚ we're now two weeks away from the Iowa caucuses. Three weeks away from New Hampshire. Nikki Haley doesn't need to be worried about -- by the way‚ I think this is the fundamental mistake that Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis both have made. They think they can MAGA voters. They can't. If you love Donald Trump‚ you are not gonna vote for somebody else. Certainly‚ not Nikki Haley. So Nikki Haley shouldn't even be worried about appeasing someone who cares‚ who wants to relitigate the Civil War. Those are not Nikki Haley voters. Nikki Haley was in Berlin‚ New Hampshire running to try to win New Hampshire. Not Alabama‚ you know‚ not Mississippi. New Hampshire. Her core constituency are not Trump voters. She needs to win independents in New Hampshire and non-Trump‚ center-right voters in New Hampshire. That should be her top priority. And what does she need to do for that to happen? She needs to get Chris Christie to drop out of the race. I think it is much less likely today that Chris Christie will drop out of the race than it was two or three days ago. So I think this was a big‚ potentially a deal. Again‚ with the caveat that news cycles move quickly. As John was saying‚ this reinforces a negative stereotype about Nikki Haley not being ready for prime time. And it speaks not just to her bad political strategy. I think it speaks a little bit to character as well.

Hamas Can't Be Beat‚ Assures NY Times Longtime Anti-Israel Voice in Lead Story

The New York Times lead story Thursday certainly was a downer for those who support the one democracy in the Middle East in its war on the terrorists of Hamas. Longtime reporter Neil MacFarquhar penned a piece headlined “Skepticism Grows Over Israel’s Ability to Dismantle Hamas.” But MacFarquhar’s long history of anti-Israel‚ pro-Arab bias makes him the least dependable reporter to pen a lead story on the Israel-Gaza war. His lead opened the floor to Hamas’s representative in Lebanon. Standing before a gray backdrop decorated with Hamas logos and emblems of a gunman that commemorate the bloody Oct. 7 attack on Israel‚ Osama Hamdan‚ the organization’s representative in Lebanon‚ professed no concern about his Palestinian faction being dislodged from Gaza. “We are not worried about the future of the Gaza Strip‚” he recently told a crowded news conference in his offices in Beirut’s southern suburbs. “The decision maker is the Palestinian people alone.” Mr. Hamdan thus dismissed one of Israel’s key objectives since the beginning of its assault on Gaza: to dismantle the Islamist political and military organization that was behind the massacre of about 1‚200 people‚ according to Israeli officials‚ and which still holds more than 100 hostages. So if a Hamas chief said it‚ it must be true? In fact‚ there's only one pro-Israel source within the long story (Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu). Every other source is there to undermine Netanyahu's goal of eliminating Hamas. And critics both within Israel and outside have questioned whether resolving to destroy such a deeply entrenched organization was ever realistic…. Since it first emerged in 1987‚ Hamas has survived repeated attempts to eliminate its leadership. The organization’s very structure was designed to absorb such contingencies‚ according to political and military specialists. In addition‚ Israel’s devastating tactics in the Gaza war threaten to radicalize a broader segment of the population‚ inspiring new recruits. Analysts see the most optimal outcome for Israel probably consisting of degrading Hamas’s military capabilities to prevent the group from repeating such a devastating attack. But even that limited goal is considered a formidable slog. …. “Hamas is actually weathering this assault quite well‚” said Tareq Baconi‚ an author who wrote a book about the group. “It’s still showing that it has an offensive military capability.” Besides the tactical admiration‚ bordering on cheerleading for Hamas‚ MacFarquhar set things up so even if Israel wins‚ it loses. The scale of Israel’s war is likely to radicalize a new generation: More than 20‚000 Gazans have been reported killed thus far‚ according to the Gaza Health Ministry. Some Gazans curse Hamas‚ even taking to the airwaves or social media to do it‚ despite the organization’s history of repressing opponents. Other Gazans‚ however‚ say that they still back “the resistance‚” and Hamas has long attracted support by providing services like schools and clinics. MacFarquhar's journalism seems suspiciously set against any move that might strengthen the survival of Israel in a region surrounded by murderous religious enemies. In an August 2006 appearance on the Charlie Rose show‚ he made comments against then-president George W. Bush regarding Israel’s war against the terrorist group Hezbollah using American artillery: ….And in 40 years‚ we have gone from Kennedy milk to the Bush administration rushing bombs to this part of the world. And it just erodes and erodes and erodes America’s reputation.” A week later MacFarquhar was favorably comparing Hezbollah terrorist leader Sheik Hassan Nasrallah to a Disney figure‚ “…combining the scripted logic of a clergyman with the steely resolve of a general to completely rewrite the rules of the Arab-Israeli land feud….Some call it his ‘Disney touch.’”
