Ashley and Jessica Gosset are sisters. Jess is deaf, Ash is not, and both are hilarious. Their social media accounts focus on “Adoption, Infertility, Deaf awareness, and Family.” Using humor, they address many of the challenges of being deaf in a hearing society. Ash is a perfect “straight actor” for her deaf sister. Or is Jess the straight actor for Ash? We may never know because the two are perfect together. One of the challenges deaf people face is with pronunciation. Because they have never heard the words, deaf speakers can only guess at how a word sounds. They use the way other people move their mouths to produce the word as a guide. In the video series, “My deaf sister mimicking me,” the sisters show how silly this can look. The family is clear in all their social media posts. The sisters are not making fun of Jess when they point out things. They are educating people who may not know a deaf person to help them understand some of the challenges they face. A healthy belly laugh seems to be their standard approach for almost everything. They continue the mimicking lessons in part two, and there may be more in the future. In some areas of society, we are becoming more inclusive. At a Pink concert, deaf people may not be able to hear the music, but they can feel the beat. Pink also has a sign language interpreter singing the words with signs. Through smiling, joking, and having a great time, the sisters convey serious lessons in deaf awareness. When renovating an older home, you never know what to expect. People have discovered beautiful hardwood flooring under carpets. For TikTok user Duhknees, the “find” was a bit different… While removing some peel-and-stick tiles probably installed in the 1970s, the homeowner found a surprise under the floor tiles. It was a beautiful find, and it might be sticking around. @duh_knees_ Part 1 of what may be many parts. ♬ original sound – Penny B Hollywood The peel-and-stick tiles were a standard stone pattern on 16- or 18-inch squares. While redoing the bathroom, the homeowner pulled up the first tile. What she saw under the floor tiles was intriguing. Linoleum, another relic from the past. The color reveals the time of original installation, placing it between 1950 and the early 1970s. Avocado green. Anyone alive during that era remembers that color. It was in all our kitchens and bathrooms. If your house didn’t have avocado green, you probably had harvest gold (also known as mustard yellow). Cool kitchens featured avocado green appliances and harvest gold linoleum, or vice versa. Some of those old refrigerators are still running in someone’s garage. After finding the vintage linoleum under the floor tiles, the homeowner decided to keep it for a while. She cleaned off the glue residue from the peel-and-stick tiles to see how well it held up. They may decide to change it later, but for right now, it’s vintage avocado green linoleum. Image from TikTok. To stay up-to-date with the bathroom renovation project, follow Duhknees on TikTok. They will figure out how to handle the linoleum they found under the floor tiles. The room also has textured walls, which are slated for change. Holy Soldier was formed in 1985 in Los Angeles, California, as a Christian hard rock and metal band. The original lineup included bassist Andy Robbins, guitarist Jamie Cramer, guitarist Michael Cutting, drummer Terry Russell, and vocalist Steven Patrick.
