Opening up about their recent health struggles. During a tour stop in Highland, California at the Yaamava Theater, Tim McGraw shared about some of his personal health struggles. He told fans that following a back surgery last year, it caused him to think about quitting his music career altogether. It wasn’t something he necessarily wanted to do, but in many ways, he felt like he might not have a choice due to his health: “I’ve had four back surgeries and double knee replacements, just in the last couple of years. Things were getting really bad, (and I was) getting depressed over it… And this spring, before I had my final back surgery, things were getting really bad, so I was seriously contemplating and figuring out how to walk away. I didn’t want to, but I didn’t think it was going to get better.” McGraw’s doctor was in attendance at the Highland tour stop, and McGraw even shouted out “Dr. Chen” during his address to the audience. Obviously, he’s back on tour playing shows and even putting out music, so those fears never came to fruition, but it sounds like McGraw’s wife and fellow country star Faith Hill is also dealing with some health challenges of her own. Faith hasn’t been in the public eye much lately, and back in June, she made a rare public appearance at CMA Fest in Nashville, and some fans were quick to criticize her appearance, while others expressed genuine concern for her. But it sounds like some of that change in appearance might have to do with real health issues, as McGraw also revealed during that concert that Faith has had a handful of surgeries lately. He specified that she has gone through around seven in total, for both her neck and her hands, but understandably didn’t give much further information: “My wife has been going through quite a bit of surgeries. She’s had five neck surgeries, and she’s had a couple of hand surgeries.” Hopefully, those surgeries were successful and Faith is on the mend, but it sucks to hear she’s been going through all of that and might explain why fans haven’t seen much of her lately. It should also make those who were so nasty about her appearance earlier this summer think twice before leaving mean comments like that in the future, but I digress… I would assume Faith is one the mend and doing just fine since McGraw felt comfortable revealing that to the crowd, and just a few weeks ago, he shared a very sweet post on Instagram celebrating their 29th wedding anniversary, saying he was “on cloud 9″ getting to marry ” the girl of my dreams”: “29 years ago, on this day Oct 6th, 1996, I was on cloud 9! I was marrying the girl of my dreams, she was everything, my complete soulmate! Now that is how you ring in the Halloween season in Nashville. I don’t know about you, but I love “Spooky Season.” The candy, the costumes, the scary decorations… it all comes together to make the fall season that much better. And nothing says “Happy Halloween” like using some skeletons in your front yard to make fun of Morgan Wallen and his infamous chair-throwing incident. By now, I’m sure you’ve heard all about what that went down at Eric Church’s downtown Nashville bar, Chief’s, last year (if you haven’t heard about it, you must be living under a rock). The country music superstar was arrested and charged with three counts of felony reckless endangerment and one count of disorderly conduct after throwing a chair off the roof of the building. In December of last year, Wallen pled guilty to misdemeanor reckless endangerment in Davidson County court. He was ultimately sentenced to two years of probation and seven days in jail, to be served at a DUI education center. The story has come up again (a lot) recently because the entirety of the body cam footage from his arrest has slowly but surely become public. Well, if you thought that was comical, you are going to love what these residents of East Nashville did with their front yard for Halloween. They decided to strike the Morgan Wallen iron while it was hot and made an entire Halloween display – called “Morgue-an Wallen” – that poked fun at the country star’s chair throwing incident. On one side of the yard, a band of skeleton’s is set up to look like they are performing – drummer, guitar player, bass player, mullet-wearing skeleton and all. There’s also a speaker somewhere on the property playing “Last Night” on a loop, which I’m sure the neighbors love. On the other, there’s a sign that has “Morgue-an Wallen” that’s a backdrop for the main event. What’s that, you ask? A beheaded skeleton that was crushed by a chair, presumably thrown from somewhere higher up. No one was actually hit with the chair that Morgan Wallen threw off the roof of Chief’s, but in this Halloween story, a skeleton got crushed by it. There’s also cowboy hat and bandana wearing skeletons hanging out on top of the house. All in all, it’s a wonderfully done Halloween display that perfectly utilizes the yard skeleton craze that’s currently captivating much of the country. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses. Miranda Lambert is sitting down with Joe Rogan for the most recent episode of the Joe Rogan Experience. The Texas native covered a wide array of topics during their almost two and a half hour conversation, ranging from her golf journey, getting involved in mounted shooting, missing the road during the pandemic, and more. Lambert talked about her music career, from stapling posters to telephone poles when she was 17 to now being one of the most prominent women in the genre. As the founder of Big Loud Texas, Lambert is still in the thick of making music for herself and remains busy touring each year. She’s also taken on a new role as a mentor, helping young artists get their footing. At one point in their conversation, Lambert shares that she always encourages young artists to be confident writing their own lyrics, but she’s not always the best at practicing what she preaches. The conversation was brought up when Joe Rogan asked her how she writes a song, if she writes things down, sits in front of a computer, or makes notes when lyrics or catchy lines come to her throughout the day. Lambert admits that she uses all of those methods when songwriting. “All of it. Usually, like, I love to co-write. Writing by myself, I’m not good at it. I encourage it for any artists that I’m mentoring or anything else, but I need to do it myself more. ‘Cause co-writing is fun, you’re hanging around with… I met you at one of my favorite writers’ benefits, Jack Ingram. He and Jon Randall, my other best friend, and I, whom I think you met too. We have a little side project we call ‘The Marfa Tapes’, and we’d go out into the desert in Marfa. Have you been there yet? It is like a different world. It is different, literal different world. It’s magical, I don’t know what’s in the air out there, but it is.”  Lambert shared that some of her favorite recent songwriting memories have come from The Marfa Tapes, when Jon Randall would strum a lick and they would all chime in. Lambert and Rogan pause for a coffee break before getting back to the topic at hand: “That’s why I like co-writing. It’s more fun to celebrate it with your friends. You know what I mean?” Joe Rogan then notes that as a comedian, he feels some of the best ideas occur in the green room when everyone is riffing ideas off of each other, and they can collaborate on jokes and other material. Lambert wholeheartedly agreed, and she felt it was also amazing to co-write and collaborate because she’s most inspired by people whose skill set is better than hers. “Especially when people are better than you. I’m like, ‘Oh, you’re a really great writer and great musician, we should be friends!’ I need to learn from you, and you make me look cool… Especially too, I’ve been working with younger artists, and I love seeing their fire. Like they’re race horses at the gate and it reminds me of how that felt, and reminds me to find my moments where I feel that way too.” While Lambert is okay with admitting she does not love the material she comes up with wholly on her own, there is a method to her madness, and she’s improving her skill set by learning from other talented songwriters and getting inspired by the younger artists she is working with. Miranda Lambert is far enough in her career that she might not need to perfect a solo write, but it is excellent advice for all the young bucks coming up. If you are confident enough for a solo write, then you will shine during a co-write. I mean, duh… This week, People has been rolling out some of the “Sexiest Man” titles ahead of revealing the official winner sometime next week, but they always do tons of other subcategories too. This year, the Reader’s Choice poll is divided into various categories, including “Who is the Sexiest 40-Year-Old,” in honor of the Sexiest Man Alive issue turning 40 this year, “Who is the Sexiest Cat Dad,” “Who has the Sexiest Tattoos,” and more. While there were fourteen categories in total that People readers can cast votes in, there is a specific poll dedicated to the country boys in country music, as there should be in my humble opinion. Nominated in the “Sexiest Country Star” category this year is Riley Green, Cody Johnson, Shaboozey, and Warren Zeiders, and your 2025 “Sexiest Country Star” has officially been named… and it went to Riley Green, of course. I don’t think anyone in the world will be surprised by that… Riley is a fan-favorite among the ladies for his obvious good looks and down home southern charm, in addition to his great music, and you’ll often see his name in the headlines for any number of items from regular bras to sticky bras and even other undergarments getting thrown onstage at him… so yeah, I think this was pretty much a given. The only country artist to be outright named People’s official “Sexiest Man Alive,” though, is Blake Shelton, who received the title in 2017. He gets roasted for it pretty much every year when this competition comes around, and so I think he’d probably be glad to share that title with another country artist one day so people might finally move on. Last year, People named the sexiest man at every age, curating a list of men who were sexy from age 20 to 41. Some of the men who made the list include Warren Zeiders at age 25, Noah Kahan at age 27, Hunter Hayes at age 33, and Michael Che at age 41; however, Luke Combs took home the gold at age 34. Combs had a great attitude about it, and even if he still finds it funny that he won, I have to imagine you’d be at least a little bit flattered. It’s certainly not the worst kind of award to win. But with Riley being nominated this year, I don’t think any of us thought the outcome would be any different.
