Dee Snider says his kids asked him to give up touring due to his health

Dee Snider and Twisted Sister recently announced that they had to cancel their upcoming 50th anniversary reunion tour due to the singer's health issues. An official statement said that he can no longer perform on stage with the same level of intensity as before because he suffers from degenerative arthritis. After a few weeks, they announced former Skid Row vocalist Sebastian Bach as his replacement for some of the live shows. In an interview with The Jasta Show, Snider revealed that his kids had an important role in convincing him to give up touring. Dee Snider says his kids asked him to give up touring due to his health "I'm not dying anytime soon. But I am dealing with issues that if I don't deal with them, I could kill myself. And my dad is 95 years old, and my mom, before she got hit by the car, God bless her, she was as healthy as a horse at 85… I've got longevity, but I can't do the things I do and expect to enjoy that longevity, the things the way I did them." He continued: "My body's been causing me problems with growing arthritis and degenerative arthritis through my shoulders, my neck, my arms. It's worked down my legs. It's throughout my body. It hurts all the time. And I was taking so many painkillers, and I'm not the drug guy. I'm not the drug guy, but when you're in pain, you're just looking for relief. But it was screwing up my other organs, because you can't take even Advil." "You start downing them by the handful, and before you know it, that's what you're doing all day long. You start hurting the liver, the kidneys or other organs in your body. And that started to become an issue for me. It was really when they discovered that I have hypertension and some heart issues that I have to address, and by addressing it means I gotta calm the fuck down." He continued: "Tom Araya (Slayer) was a thrasher in his heart of hearts to the bitter end, but his neck gave out, as they do, and he could no longer (thrash around like he used to), as you know, in the years with Slayer. And it hurt him. I read it. He said, 'The fact that I can't throw down' — I'm paraphrasing — 'with the audience. I can't bang and thrash, whip my head around like I used to do,' he said, 'it makes me sad that I can't do that.'" "And I'm not trashing Tom — please don't take it as that — I'm applauding him and I'm commiserating with him and that feeling. I just don't know if I could stop myself. … That's the thing — I don't think I can… But the point is I don't know if I could do it. I don't know if I could stop myself. I don't know if I would want to… My kids sat me down and said, 'Please stop' — some were crying — 'because you are gonna kill yourself,' 'cause they know who I am," Dee Snider said. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mse-B8sd7-o&pp=ygUWZGVlIHNuaWRlciBqYW1lcyBqYXN0YQ%3D%3D The post Dee Snider says his kids asked him to give up touring due to his health appeared first on Rock and Roll Garage.

Dave Mustaine announces biography “In My Darkest Hour”

Megadeth is currently on their farewell tour promoting their latest studio album, which takes the band’s name. The group’s leader, songwriter, guitarist, and singer Dave Mustaine has announced a new biography, titled "In My Darkest Hour", which will be released on September 8 and was co-written with The New York Times journalist Joe Layden. They also have worked together on his previous biography: "Mustaine: A Heavy Metal Memoir". Dave Mustaine said about his autobiographical book “One of most harrowing experiences of my adult life has been my seven-year journey through cancer treatment and onward into remission. This story is considerably more than just go to the doctor, get diagnosed, get treatment and hopefully I live happily ever after. This was a journey of me saving myself, staying alive, keeping my family together, and continuing to make music through it all," he said in a statement. The press release also notes that he is “no stranger to pain and suffering”, enumerating some of the things he has faced in his life, such as having an alcoholic father, battling addiction, practicing black magic and undergoing cancer treatment. Out of the Big 4 of Thrash Metal, Megadeth is the band that has gone through the most line-up changes over the years, with many members lasting less than a decade. Over the past four decades, more than 30 musicians have played in the band alongside Dave Mustaine. The current line-up consists of James LoMenzo (Bass, 2006 to 2010 and since 2022), Dirk Verbeuren (Drums, since 2016) and Teemu Mäntysaari (Guitar, since 2023). 2 Hard Rock bands that Paul McCartney is a fan of

Paul McCartney wrote many incredible songs that are among the most successful of all time, many of them ballads that are part of millions of people’s lives. The heaviest song by The Beatles was certainly "Helter Skelter", which, for many, is one of the prototypes of what Heavy Metal and Hard Rock would become. He always had a really broad musical taste and to the surprise of many, he is a fan of heavier Rock and has praised two famous bands over the decades. 2 Hard Rock bands that Paul McCartney is a fan of Van Halen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4sza2SNP_E&pp=ygUSdmFuIGhhbGVuIGV1cHJ0aW9u Eddie Van Halen was one of the guitarists from more recent generations whom Paul McCartney admired the most. “I like Eddie Van Halen as a player. He gets it right quite often. I like a lot of heavy metal guys because they wind it up. What I usually like in a heavy metal band is the guitar player. But when it’s just miles of scales, I lose interest. I like some of the hot sounds,” Paul McCartney told Guitar Player magazine in the late 80s. Although he did enjoy Van Halen’s music, Paul didn’t think that Eddie was a better guitar player than Hendrix. Since the early 60s, the Beatle had the chance to meet and see many incredible musicians play, but none of them compared to Hendrix, not even Eddie. “I have very fond memories of Jimi. I mean, Van Halen’s great, I love Eddie Van Halen. But I still think Jimi was the best,” Paul McCartney told Rolling Stone magazine in 1986. Bands like The Beatles and The Dave Clark Five were extremely important for the Van Halen brothers as they were growing up. Their mother wanted them to become classical pianists and enrolled them in piano lessons so they could study properly. However, it was after hearing those British bands that they realized they actually wanted to be Rock and Roll musicians. Curiously, they were more into The Dave Clark Five, and Alex Van Halen recently said that if someone had asked him back then which band he thought would last longer, he would have said it was the DC5, not The Beatles. George Harrison also was a big fan of Eddie Van Halen McCartney wasn't the only member of The Beatles who liked Eddie, George Harrison also praised him back in the 80s. “Well, there are a lot of guitar players I like. I like a guy called Eddie Lang, a guy called Django Reinhardt. These days I think, out of the contemporary players, I think Eddie Van Halen is pretty hot. I like, of course, Eric Clapton. I like a lot of the old Blues players, many of them, like Robert Johnson,” George Harrison said in a TV interview in the 1980s. AC/DC https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flWxU2ny_bA&time_continue=23&source_ve_path=NzY3NTg&embeds_referring_euri=https%3A%2F%2Frockandrollgarage.com%2F The second Hard Rock band which Paul McCartney also likes is AC/DC. “I like Rock and Roll basically and I know the AC/DC guys and they’re loud, have you seen them live? Oh baby… That’s one of the joys of being in a band, you get to plug an electric guitar and turn it up just as loud as you want and it’s such a sort of cool feeling that I could see why you would form a group based around that idea,” Paul McCartney told GQ in 2018. Over the years, he had the chance to meet and hang out with members of AC/DC and Brian Johnson once revealed that he was so starstruck when he met Paul that he couldn’t speak. “I didn’t know what to say to him. I mean, for the first time I was absolutely tongue-tied. Then Ringo Starr walked in beside him. It was Paul that spoke to me, ’cause he heard me talking to somebody. And he said, ‘Hello, Geordie.' You know, because they call us Geordies, with the accent. And I went, ‘Hello, Paul. Sir Paul. Your honor. Your majesty.’ I didn’t know what (to call him). (Laughs) I just came across like I was breaking a friend’s teeth in — I couldn’t speak." "So it was hard. And then we became friends, which is even harder to describe. If you’re in a hotel and somebody like McCartney says, ‘Fancy a spot of lunch, kid?’ And you go, ‘Yes,'” Brian Johnson said in an interview with QFM96 in 2022. The incredible dinner AC/DC had with Paul McCartney and Dave Grohl In 2015, during AC/DC’s performance of "Rock or Bust" at the Grammy Awards, Paul can be seen in the audience thoroughly enjoying their music. After the ceremony, he had the chance to spend a special evening with the members of the band, following a dinner arranged by Dave Grohl. Initially, only Paul, along with Pat Smear, Taylor Hawkins, and their wives, were planning to attend the dinner. However, Paul’s wife asked Grohl’s wife what they were doing that night, and she invited them to join. Later, after Paul ran into the members of AC/DC at the hotel, they asked what his plans were and were invited to the dinner as well. Upon discovering he would have such special guests, Grohl prepared a truly memorable surprise. "(...) My friend Ben Jaffe from the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, which is a New Orleans swing band, legendary (one). (He says) ‘What are you doing after the show?’ I’m like ‘Oh my God, Ben. Come have dinner with McCartney and AC/DC! You gotta come!’ He says ‘Well, can I bring the whole band with me?’ There’s like 10 of these guys, you know. They march like a marching band in the streets, like in a parade. It’s my favorite type of music, I love New Orleans Jazz so much. So I booked the back room and they said ‘If you want, we will march down the street and into the back room playing.’ I was going ‘this is gonna be the greatest night of my life’.” He continued: “So we kept it a secret, we didn’t tell anyone. We’re all hanging out in this backroom with AC/DC and Paul. We’re just sort of sitting there and then you could hear music coming down the street and it’s loud, dude. I mean, it’s tubas, trombones, trumpets, bass drums coming through the restaurant into the room. Everybody’s face is just like ‘what the f*ck is going on right now?’ I got to swing dance with AC/DC. It was insane.” “I mean, by the end of the night, honestly, (I thought) this must be happening to someone else. It’s like having an out-of-body experience. I’m just like ‘I can’t believe this is my life.’ Because I surely don’t consider myself like in the lofty, god-like ranks or status of Paul or AC/DC. I still feel like a kid on my bedroom floor. But here I am getting high with the New Orleans Jazz band and drinking whiskeys with AC/DC while Paul’s dancing behind me. This is f*cking awesome, it never grows old,” Dave Grohl told Waterstones in 2021 (Transcribed by Rock and Roll Garage). Fans boo after ‘Wheel of Fortune’ contestant gets ‘unfair’ puzzle worth $1 million

The usually respectful crowd at a “Wheel of Fortune” taping couldn’t hold back after they felt that a puzzle given to finalist Rob Dodson was too harsh. A big reason for their outrage (and why the puzzle was so tricky) was because $1 million was on the line. Before the puzzle, Dodson chose from a selection of cards that held the prize he would win for solving it. Amongst the cards was the $1 million jackpot, so, understandably, tensions were high. Did Dodson choose the million-dollar card? Will he solve the puzzle under the “What Are You Doing Category”? Well, things didn’t start too great. After the usual R, S, T, L, N, and E were put up on the board, Dodson was looking at “_ _ _ _ _ L _ N _.” He quickly guessed C, H, P and A, none of which appeared on the board. He then guessed “funneling” and “finding,” but they didn’t work. The final answer: “Quibbling.” After the solution to the puzzle was revealed, the audience began to boo because they didn’t think it was fair. It had 2 Bs in the short answer, started with a Q and was a word that isn’t used often in casual conversation. The crowd’s reaction was an excellent show of support for Dodson, who encouraged the crowd to keep going by raising his hands. Host Pat Sajak, 77, pushed back against the boos, jokingly asking the audience, “Who asked you?” So, would Dodson have won the $1 million if he guessed quibbling? Nope. The card he chose would have earned him an Infiniti car if he had guessed correctly. But all in all, it wasn’t a bad outing for Dodson, a father of 2 from Aurora, Ohio. He managed to win $33,500 against Venetia Brown ($7,550) and Jessica Huffman ($2,000). The tough puzzle earned a lot of boos on social media as well. X was lit up with people who thought that Dodson got cheated by being given a challenging puzzle with a word seldom used in conversation. Sajak’s final episode as host aired on June 7, 2024. Sajak has been the host of “Wheel” since 1981. Vanna White, his co-host since 1982, will remain with the show. “I couldn’t be happier to have shared the stage with you for all these years with one more to come,” she wrote on X after Sajak announced this would be his last season. “Cheers to you.” When we started @WheelofFortune who could have imagined we’d still be at it 41 seasons later? I couldn’t be happier to have shared the stage with you for all these years with one more to come. Cheers to you, @patsajak! https://t.co/yYmo3G0Dtb— Vanna White (@TheVannaWhite) June 13, 2023 Sajak has been a beloved host on “Wheel of Fortune,” earning 19 Daytime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Game Show Host and winning three times. In 2019, he set a Guinness World Record for the longest career as a game show host for the same show, beating the previous record held by Bob Barker. Sajak has been a beloved host on “Wheel of Fortune,” earning 19 Daytime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Game Show Host and winning three times. In 2019, he set a Guinness World Record for the longest career as a game show host for the same show, beating the previous record held by Bob Barker. A familiar face replaced Sajak, Ryan Seacrest, best known for his work on “American Idol” and “Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve.” “I can’t wait to continue the tradition of spinning the wheel and working alongside the great Vanna White,” he said after it was announced he was the new host. So, how did he do after taking over the coveted role of host? The first week that Seacrest took over for Sajak the ratings took a giant leap, bringing in the most viewers since 2015, making it the number one syndicated show that week. Time will tell if Seacrest can replace Sajak’s magic, but he has time; reports show that he has signed on for the gig into the 2030s. This article originally appeared last year. He made a teeny house for a stray cat visitor, and it turned into an adorable kitty village

Tiny houses are still a popular choice for people trying to downsize but tiny houses for cats are springing up in one man’s backyard. Back in 2024, Barna thought he was doing a good deed for a stray cat that decided that he kinda liked hanging out in this human’s backyard. At first, the cat would show up but wouldn’t eat the food set out for him. That didn’t stop Barna. The man continued to set food out for the cat. Taking note of the changing weather, Barna decided to take one of his hobbies and build the cat, now named Domino a cozy little house. Building things is a hobby for him, so he made sure to equip Domino’s tiny abode with a heating pad, light and camera. Before too long the situation turned into a version of the famous children’s book, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. Another cat showed up (because of course Domino had a bestie) but it didn’t stop there. Barna built a tiny two story condo for the two cats to hang out in while still keeping Domino’s original tiny house. The backyard looks like it was made to host furry tenants in a makeshift cat community because more cats indeed showed up. Soon the tuxedo cat had several neighbors to hang out with and thanks to Barna, none of the cats looked like they were missing any meals. “We have about four or five cats who will go in and sleep in the houses,” Barna told The Dodo. “One night one of the biggest storms of the year hit, I saw that two kittens actually took shelter in the house. That was one of the sweetest things ever.” A stray cat looks at the camera. Photo credit: Canva Barna had cameras set up inside and outside of the itty bitty kitty community so he can keep an eye on his feline neighbors. The cats’ landlord expressed that he feels gratification seeing his little houses be used by furry tenants. Having a group of cats around probably isn’t too terrible for keeping pests away either, so it’s a win for all involved. Down in the comments, people applauded Barna for taking such good care of his feline friends. “If you build it, they will come. what a kind and thoughtful gentleman to take care of these babies during the hard weather.” “This man has such a good heart.” View this post on Instagram “How a man treats animals reveals who the man is. This is a good man.” “Just imagine how good the inside of those little houses feel to a kitty after he or she has been outdoors in all kinds of weather for who knows how long. They would finally be able to relax and get a good sleep. Kudos for being so kind and handy.” “There is most definitely a special place in heaven for the animal rescuers. I love you.” “This world NEEDS more people like this gentleman.” Indeed, the world could definitely use a few more Barnas. Best of luck to him and his kitty companions. ‘Old soul’ kid chooses his own name, then cracks himself up for a full minute

Donna Whelan describes her young son, Jacob, as an “old soul,” and well over a million people on social media seem to agree. She shares many adorable clips of him online, but one recent video of Jacob choosing his own name might just take the cake. In a clip from Donna’s Instagram page, she begins to ask Jacob a question: “Right, if you could choose a name for yourself…” She doesn’t even have a chance to finish before he confidently answers, “Roberto,” playing with a small lock of hair behind his ear. Just as quickly, he bursts into laughter and can’t seem to stop. “Didn’t even finish the sentence, and I gave ya an answer. Roberto!” View this post on Instagram Donna asks, “Do you like that name?” It’s now time for Jacob to get serious. “Yeah. Roberto is my favorite name.” He puts his hands into a pyramid, not unlike a politician or a TED Talk speaker. “When you think of… say Roberto slowly, though. Ro-bert-to. Ro-ber-toe. Rubber toe.” The laughing fit continues, his cheeks turning pink beneath his thick glasses. “Why does that name make you laugh so much?” Donna asks. Jacob immediately dissolves into giggles once again. “It’s just a funny name! Rubber toe!” It’s clear he’s not mocking it in any way, but simply delighted by his quick reaction and the joke. The laugh is truly infectious. Nearly 75,000 likes and over 3,500 comments (and counting) just heap love onto this child. One commenter says, “His little laugh gets me every time.” Another adds, “I actually laughed out loud too when he said ROBERTO We never know what he’s going to say next.” And of course, a few “Robertos” chime in. “My name is Roberto,” one person says. “What’s so funny about being called Roberto? ” Another commenter adds, “Ya gotta say it slowly, though. Then it’s funny, haha.” View this post on Instagram Another Instagrammer shares that their son wanted to change his name when he was young: “My son wanted to change his name to Fun because he just wanted to have fun. His name is Benjamin or Ben. We call him Funjamin or Fun to this day, and he’s 29 years old!” This isn’t uncommon. In a piece I wrote for Upworthy a few months ago, I explored a popular parenting Reddit thread where people discussed their kids choosing new names, or even wanting to reinvent themselves. “For what it’s worth, I wanted to change my name a million times growing up,” one person confessed. “First, I wanted Dawn, then Angel, and lord knows what after that. I’m sure I went by Lilith during high school for a moment. My parents were so blasé about it. I never did change my name.” Another joked, “My son went by Spider-Man for almost a year at age 4. He’s 23 now and happy with his given name.” View this post on Instagram As for Jacob and his mom, who have more than 4 million followers on social media, they continue to delight the Internet with little Jacob-isms. In another popular clip, Jacob shares that he has “had about a million lives.” When Donna asks, “Would you like me to be your mum in every life?” Jacob slyly smiles, nods, and gives a resounding “Yes.” In a book by Donna and Jacob, The World According to Jacob: Hilarious Words of Wisdom From a Little Old Soul, they reveal that “Jacob has captured millions of hearts around the world with his infectious sense of humour, his fun, and his cheeky smile.” The post ‘Old soul’ kid chooses his own name, then cracks himself up for a full minute appeared first on Upworthy.
