She Thinks Charlie Kirk Deserved to Die—What We Heard at the No Kings Rally in DC

Thousands of people, most of them over the age of 60, hit the streets of Washington, D.C., on Saturday to protest our extremely authoritarian—and definitely not democratically elected—“king,” President Donald Trump. It was the “No Kings” rally, and The Daily Signal team took the opportunity to get some fresh air and, of course, interview a few of them.  We started by asking, “What has Trump done to seem like a king to you?”   “He just disregards all the laws. … It’s all part of the plan … Project 2025,” an older woman replied.  When I asked her to describe Project 2025, a Heritage Foundation-led effort to create a blueprint for the administration of significant reforms in government, she replied, “I can’t remember. I’m lucky I remember my name some days, but I can’t remember. But just Google it for God’s sake. It’s 2025. There is no excuse for being ignorant in this day and age.”  We couldn’t agree with you more, ma’am. There isn’t any excuse: If you’re going to protest it, you should at least know what it is.   One man explained that Trump was a king because the Democrats won the popular vote in the 2016 election. Perhaps when he realized that his reasoning wouldn’t work because Trump won the popular vote in 2024, he attempted to clarify: “This time, it was an exception.”  A young woman explained to The Daily Signal team why she decided to bring a sign with Malcolm X—someone who was known to justify political violence—holding a rifle: “I think it’s too hard to just say in one sentence, but … I live here, I’m not going to stand up and just let people take over my country and let it be a hateful place.”  The Nokings.org website states, “A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action.”  Unfortunately, it seems like this group of protesters didn’t get to read the website before the protest, because going back to the older woman, she said Democrats actually “need to be a little bit meaner.”  When I then asked her what she thought of the recent assassination of Charlie Kirk, any semblance of her sweet grandma facade quickly faded: “Charlie Kirk is a piece of garbage. Of course, we were mean. I am so tired of people saying, oh, it’s a terrible thing. No, Hitler is dead. I’m glad Hitler’s dead. Evil people have no place in my world. He was a hateful human being. It was disgusting the things that he said and did.”  NO KINGS PROTESTER: Charlie Kirk Is a ‘Piece of Garbage,’ ‘I’m Glad Hitler Is Dead’“Everybody,” including illegal aliens, deserves health care. Democrats “need to be a little bit meaner,” and “evil people” like Charlie Kirk have “no place in my world” — those are just some of… pic.twitter.com/HIcGSoYS5J— The Daily Signal (@DailySignal) October 18, 2025 This particular clip of her saying that, posted to The Daily Signal social media platforms, has since accrued more than 3.3 million views on X, was featured on Fox News, and was the subject of conversation for political commentators such as Brett Cooper, Matt Walsh, Steven Crowder, and others.   For years, we’ve heard phrases like “the tolerant Left” and “mostly peaceful” protests, with those on the Left at least trying to hide their true intentions from conservatives.  Now, with only a little pressure, and apparently feeling justified by the legacy media and Democrat politicians who seem to make excuses for them, they’re more than happy to reveal what they really think of you.   This is a wake-up call to all Americans; political violence is no longer supported by just a fringe group of leftist extremists.   It’s a lot of your everyday Democrats.   The post She Thinks Charlie Kirk Deserved to Die—What We Heard at the No Kings Rally in DC appeared first on The Daily Signal.

Republicans Assail House Panel Dems’ Plan for ‘Master ICE Tracker’

The chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee is pushing back on Democrats’ plan to track the activity of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Los Angeles.   “Oversight Committee Democrats are completely unhinged,” Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., told The Daily Signal on Wednesday.   Democrats on the House Oversight Committee are preparing to launch a platform that they say will track the activity of some ICE agents.  “Over the course of the next couple of weeks, the Oversight Committee will be launching on their website, a master ICE tracker, where we’re going to be essentially tracking every single instance that we can verify that the community will be able to send us information on, and it’ll be all available in one central place,” said Rep. Robert Garcia, D-Calif., the ranking member of the committee.   Speaking alongside Los Angeles Democrat Mayor Karen Bass at a Tuesday press conference, Garcia said the committee is “going to record and create an investigative unit here to ensure that in Los Angeles, we look into every single brutal misconduct that ICE is committing.”   Garcia added that the aim of the platform is to “ensuring that every single moment of terror, of injustice that happens here in Los Angeles—and, really, across the country—is recorded and that we take note of every instance where people are being harmed.”  In response to the news, the Republican-controlled Oversight Committee called the move “weaponization.”   "Oversight" Democrats are UNHINGED.They SHUT DOWN the government, leaving federal workers UNPAID, to give FREE healthcare to ILLEGALS.Now they're making a "master" ICE tracker TARGETING enforcement actions. This puts agents and public safety AT RISK.This is weaponization. pic.twitter.com/r7iXpMqIFi— Oversight Committee (@GOPoversight) October 22, 2025 “Democrats shut down the government—leaving essential federal workers unpaid—just to push their extreme agenda of giving free health care to illegal immigrants. Now, they’re doubling down with a so-called ‘master’ ICE tracker designed to target and undermine lawful immigration enforcement,” Comer said. “Let’s be clear: This is a reckless assault on law enforcement that endangers ICE agents and compromises public safety.”  Garcia did not respond to The Daily Signal’s request for comment by the time of publication.   Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said the plan to launch the ICE tracker “looks like obstruction of justice.”   In response to the announcement, Attorney General Pam Bondi castigated Garcia for “trying to put ICE agents at risk just for doing their jobs.”    The Justice Department “has ZERO tolerance for violence against law enforcement,” she said. “We will prosecute any person who physically assaults our agents,” Bondi said.   ICE has been carrying out targeted operation in Los Angeles since June as part of a wider campaign to detain and deport criminal illegal aliens across the country.   Since the start of the Trump administration in January, the DHS has arrested 480,000 criminal illegal aliens, according to DHS Secretary Kristi Noem. Among those arrested, 70% have “criminal charges against them or have been convicted of those criminal charges,” Noem said.   The increase in targeted immigration enforcement operations has also led to a 1,000% increase in violence against immigration enforcement officers, DHS reports.   On Tuesday, an illegal alien from Mexico living in Los Angeles was charged with assault on a federal officer after he rammed law enforcement vehicles with his own car in an effort to escape arrest.   Carlitos Ricardo Parias repeatedly moved his car forward and backward, hitting the law enformcent vehicles that boxed him in. When he continued to resist arrest and attempt to escape, law enforcement—fearing for their own safety, according to the Department of Justice—opened fire. Both Parias and a deputy agent, who was struck by a ricochet bullet, were injured, but are expected to recover. Federal authorities are investigating the situation. If found guilty, Parias could face up to eight years in prison.   The post Republicans Assail House Panel Dems’ Plan for ‘Master ICE Tracker’ appeared first on The Daily Signal.

Is Trump the Frontrunner for Nobel Peace Prize After Massive Diplomatic Successes?

The Following is a preview of Daily Signal Politics Editor Bradley Devlin’s interview with State Department Deputy Spokesman Tommy Pigott on “The Signal Sitdown.” The full interview premieres on The Daily Signal’s YouTube page at 6:30 a.m. eastern on Oct. 23. While President Donald Trump did not receive the Nobel Peace Prize this year, he could be the odds on favorite to win the distinguished award in 2026 because of his work brokering peace deals or ceasefires in eight different conflicts this year.  Trump’s deal-making diplomacy comes as leftwing critics thought this level of success impossible because of Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s efforts to completely reform the State Department. The critics were wrong. State Department Deputy Spokesman Tommy Pigott joins “The Signal Sitdown” to provide an inside look at the department overhaul and how Trump has managed to find pathways to peace all over the world. What Trump, Rubio, and the political appointees at the State Department like Pigott inherited from the Biden administration, in terms of both the geopolitical conditions and the internal conditions at the agency, was nothing short of disastrous. ”From a geopolitical context, I mean, we saw what happened under the previous administration, actions that, as President Trump has said, are some of the most embarrassing in our country’s history. Really terrible days from the Afghanistan withdrawal to the wars that broke out,” Pigott told The Daily Signal.  The Biden administration “had not prioritized the right things,” Pigott continued. “We’ve seen conflicts breaking out all over the world. We see a United States that’s no longer respected. That’s what we inherited.” The Biden administration’s poor prioritization of America and its interests was painfully on display inside the agency that Trump and Rubio inherited. Before the reorganization, the State Department was a bureaucratic nightmare, so much so that many careers who provided advice on the department’s restructuring emphasized the need to streamline the department’s processes. “The State Department has so many different offices that one office could be doing something in a country that the embassy has no idea about,” Pigott said. “And both of those entities could potentially be doing something that is contrary to the policy of the duly elected president of the United States.” “For example, many of the aid programs that were in place could actually be doing things that are counter to the relationships we’re trying to build in many of these countries,” Pigott explained. “Sometimes the ambassador didn’t even know about the aid programs happening in the country where they were the ambassador.” Things were so bad at the State Department, in fact, that Trump’s political appointees had a difficult time simply tracking down how many people actually worked there. Meanwhile, policies that Pigott described as “woke” and “DEI” pervaded the its work. Between bureaucratic overhead and the woke policies, “in some of these programs, the previous administration was very happy to get this to 15 cents on the dollar in terms of reaching the end user,” Pigott claimed. The goal for the State Department reorganization was to end the bureaucratic grift and “empower people,” Pigott told The Daily Signal.  “Let’s empower the embassies. Let’s actually make a structure that can implement the president’s policies,” Pigott said. “Part of this reform was empowering the regional bureaus because the regional bureaus and the embassies were the experts in these regions.” “Of course we kept some of the functional bureaus that we needed,” Pigott added. “But the idea was empowering the regional bureaus because the people that are part of those regional bureaus know the countries the best.” “We shouldn’t have functional activities that are counter to what the regional experts think we should be doing in each country,” Pigott said. “That’s oftentimes actually counterproductive.” Meanwhile, the administration has racked up several major diplomatic wins in the form of peace agreements and ceasefires. One of these successes was a ceasefire between India and Pakistan in May, when the two countries were entering an escalatory spiral over the long-standing Kashmir border dispute. “You’ve heard leaders from across the world talk about the stakes that were involved, especially when you’re talking about two nuclear armed powers and the danger for miscommunication,” Pigott said about the India-Pakistan ceasefire.  “We saw members of this administration from the vice president, the president, the secretary across this administration, reaching out, having conversations at all times of the day to make sure that we’re communicating with the different countries here and really trying to find a way to keep this from escalating,” Pigott said of the administration’s efforts. The biggest deal the Trump administration has managed to strike thus far is a 20-point peace plan in the war between Israel and Hamas. While the ceasefire continues to hold, challenges from both sides in the conflict make the path to lasting peace a long and narrow one—a reality this administration knows full well. “No one is denying how hard this is or how complex this is,” Pigott said of implementing the peace deal. “As Jared Kushner said recently, [there are] 10 things we’re trying to do simultaneously in terms of implementing this peace plan.” “But there is a chance here for long-term peace and prosperity for the people of Gaza, Israel, the entire region, because the entire region, the entire world, is behind this peace plan,” Pigott claimed.  “Our focus now is making it livable, making Gaza livable,” Pigott said of the next steps for the peace agreement. “Let’s be practical. Let’s be realistic. Let’s focus on the progress we can make today on the ground. Let’s focus on that.” While many challenges remain, Pigott told The Daily Signal, “I think as Americans, we can be proud that we have a president who is a peacemaker.” The post Is Trump the Frontrunner for Nobel Peace Prize After Massive Diplomatic Successes? appeared first on The Daily Signal.
