Here’s Why The Trump Admin Says It Would Be Dangerous To Release Kilmar Abrego Garcia

NASHVILLE — The Justice Department argued Friday that releasing suspected gang member Kilmar Abrego Garcia would pose a danger to the public because of his alleged history of violence toward his wife, sexual misconduct toward young girls, and participation in an illegal alien smuggling ring. Abrego Garica, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador who has been incorrectly dubbed a “Maryland man” by the legacy media, appeared in federal court in Nashville on Friday for his arraignment on human smuggling charges and a detention hearing. Wearing a bright red prison suit and listening to proceedings through interpreters, Abrego Garcia pled not guilty in front of a crowd of left-wing supporters who showed up to watch the case play out. Abrego Garcia faces 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for one count of conspiracy to transport aliens and up to 10 years in prison for each illegal smuggled across the country if found guilty on another count of unlawful transportation of illegal aliens. He was returned to the United States last week after being deported to El Salvador due to suspected ties to MS-13. After his not guilty plea, Magistrate Judge Barbara Holmes heard arguments from the Justice Department and Abrego Garcia’s lawyers on whether or not to release him as his case is litigated. As court ended for the day, she said that she would not give a date for her decision, but that it would be “sooner rather than later.” Acting United States Attorney for Middle Tennessee Robert McGuire argued that Abrego Garcia should be detained because he was a flight risk and would endanger the community based on testimony and evidence that he had endangered children through his alleged participation in a smuggling ring, ties to violent gangs, and the multiple complaints from his wife about domestic violence. One of those individuals noted his age to be 15 when Tennessee Highway Patrol had each person write their name and age down on a sheet of paper. Homeland Security special agent Peter Joseph said that the 15-year-old boy was unaccounted for to this day and that they hadn’t tracked him down yet, saying that “we don’t know right now” if he is OK. Joseph added that at least six of the nine individuals being transported have been identified as illegal aliens from a variety of countries including Mexico, El Salvador, and Honduras. Joseph also testified that Abrego Garcia lied to the Tennessee state troopers when he claimed that he was bringing a construction crew from St. Louis to Maryland. According to data gathered through license plate readers, Joseph said that the vehicle hadn’t been in St. Louis in the timeframe Abrego Garcia claimed and that there were no construction tools in the vehicle. Abrego Garcia also had a history of sexual misconduct toward minors, multiple of his associates told Joseph. Additionally, Joseph said an unidentified girl provided evidence to federal investigators that Abrego Garcia had asked a 15-year-old Maryland girl to send him nude pictures of herself and sent her other messages discussing OnlyFans. Lawyers for Abrego Garcia referred to these accusations as “slanderous” and said a “flirtatious event” from five years ago shouldn’t impact his detention. Abrego Garcia’s lawyers, including public defenders Richard Tennant and Dumaka Shabazz, argued that the Justice Department’s case relied too much on hearsay, and they tried to discredit the testimony about his activities given to federal investigators from two men who also face deportation and federal punishment. The defense did not call any witnesses, but pointed to multiple pieces of evidence, including a 2019 immigration holding that Abrego Garcia should not be deported to his home country of El Salvador because of fears of gang violence. They also included a letter from an immigrant activist group called CASA, which promised to help Abrego Garcia should he be released. Holmes at times appeared critical of the Justice Department, and suggested that their evidence was dated because it came from 2020-2022. When discussing the orders of protection granted to Abrego Garcia’s wife over fears for her own safety, Holmes asked McGuire whether it would be “equally plausible” that he had a change of heart over the last four years rather than stay the same. Regardless of her decision, Abrego Garcia will likely not be leaving federal custody anytime soon as ICE is expected to take custody of him if he is released on the smuggling charges. Before the hearing began, dozens of people gathered outside the courthouse holding signs like “F*** ICE” and “Stop ICE Kidnappings.” By noon, the crowd had largely dispersed as rain ripped through Nashville and the proceedings dragged into late afternoon.

Costco Is Making A Major Operations Change

Now more than ever, retailers must fight for the customer’s dollar. In a downturn economy, people want the biggest bang for their buck and will spend extra time to shop competitively. Costco understands this and wants to make the shopping experience better. The company announced Costco Executive Members will have new benefits beginning at the end of June. USA Today confirmed that Costco emailed executive members announcing the latest perks. Beginning June 30, the club will open exclusively to the highest members at 9 a.m. Executive members will also earn a $10 monthly credit for orders of $150 placed through the company’s “Same-Day” service or Instacart. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Costco (@costco) Costco Executive Members Already Have Some Perks The earlier shopping hour and $10 credit will be added to the perks currently available to Costco Executive Members. These customers already receive a 2% cash back reward on qualified purchases and discounts on Costco services. While the news of extended store hours sounded like a great idea to customers, Costco employees doesn’t love the new Executive Member perks. Many took to a Reddit thread to air their frustration. “Corporate announcing this with 3 weeks notice, while in the middle of a hiring freeze, AND severely cutting hours? Costco is not the same company it once was,” someone wrote. “Non executive members are just going to bully themselves in and we will be told to do more with less, as we have been.” Another Costco employee doesn’t think the new plan for executive members will work. “Concessions are going to have to be made. I already drop light on Saturdays when we open at 9:15 then make up the difference on Sunday,” they said. “But I’m also super OCD about blocking down my department. I can get the stocking done, but it ain’t gonna be pretty!” The news of the Executive Membership changes made this Costco customer sad for employees. “As a regular at Costco this is sad to hear. It should be so obvious if they are going to offer additional service to customers they will need to hire more employees and compensate them appropriately. Friends that were Costco employees used to tell me they enjoyed the job. Happy employees means good customer service and return customers,” they wrote. “Unhappy employees will result in quick turnover of workers, less desirable employees, and eventually loss of customers. Costco please treat your employees right and it will help your bottom line.” This story’s featured image is by Andy.LIU via Shutterstock. Suspect arrested almost 2 months after suburban couple obediently handed over valuables to armed males in front of their home

In April, Blaze News reported about a helpless suburban Chicago couple recorded by Ring camera in front of their own home obediently handing over their valuables — and even their clothing — to three armed robbers who rushed them.Well, almost two months later, one suspect connected to the incident has been arrested and charged with armed robbery with a firearm, WFLD-TV reported.'You just kind of become numb to the situation.'Angelo Hatter — a 26-year-old from Chicago — was being held in custody by the Cook County Sheriff's Department, the station said, adding that police haven't identified the other two individuals involved in the headline-grabbing heist or how they linked Hatter to the case. Jail records show no bail for Hatter; his next court date is July 2.RELATED: Road rage suspect opens fire on fellow motorist in Chicago, cops say. But victim is a concealed carrier — and wins shootout. Greg Poulos and Angie Beltsos were walking to their front porch in Glenview around 10 p.m. April 21 after dinner in Chicago when a car pulled up, WBBM-TV reported.Police said three males approached them, pulled out guns, and demanded their belongings, WBBM said, adding that Beltsos said she saw one male "running at us pointing a gun, screaming at us to give him everything."The couple did just that.Video shows one of the robbers telling them to "give me all that s**t," and Poulos and Beltsos immediately tossed their cell phones and keys to the ground; Beltsos also gave up her purse, the station said."You got it. You got it. Here, take it. Take it. Take everything. Take everything. Take everything. Take everything. Take everything. Here, you can have it. Honest to God, guys," Poulos was heard on the clip telling the robbers, WBBM reported."I started throwing shoes and coats," Beltsos noted to the station in the aftermath. Video shows them both removing their jackets for the crooks.Poulos told WBBM, "I was always taught by my father just give whatever they want, give what they want, and your life is far more valuable."The nightmare didn't end there, however.RELATED: 'Chunk of hair' allegedly found on smashed windshield; cops say it resembles fatal hit-and-run victim's hair — and case turns Video doesn't show that the crooks soon "had us lie down on our stomachs, and pointing guns at us, and I thought, 'Oh my gosh, is this how it's going to end today?'" Beltsos recounted to WBBM, adding that "for a moment, they were standing there, and they ran off."Police told WBBM the robbers sped out of the neighborhood in a Jaguar SUV, which was later found abandoned and empty in Chicago. The village of Glenview is about 40 minutes northwest of Chicago and is "one of the best places to live in Illinois," according to Niche. It's also a haven for retirees and boasts "a lot of restaurants, coffee shops, and parks" as well as "highly rated" public schools, Niche adds.Poulos added to WBBM that people nowadays have "to be vigilant and keep their head on a swivel."Blaze News on Friday spoke to employees of two businesses located less than a mile from where the robbery took place, and strangely, both workers used the same word in the aftermath of the harrowing encounter: "numb."One employee confessed to Blaze News, "I'm numb to it." The worker from the second business — even upon hearing that a suspect had been arrested — told Blaze News that "you just kind of become numb to the situation.""It's unfortunate," she added to Blaze News about the robbery itself. "It's just the way of the world."Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors, sign up for our newsletters, and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!
