More of This, Please! CBS Invites Conservative Dana Loesch to Debate Minneapolis

Monday’s CBS Mornings provided another example of what many of us hope to see more of at a Bari Weiss-led CBS News in spotlighting diverse viewpoints the audience has either not heard from enough or not at all. This time, featured co-host Vladimir Duthiers discussed and debated with our friend and conservative talk radio host Dana Loesch the fallout of Saturday’s deadly Border Patrol shooting of Alex Pretti in Minneapolis. Duthiers first asked what Loesch, a former spokeswoman for the National Rifle Association (NRA) and one of conservatism’s best minds on the Second Amendment, made of claims by the administration that Pretti should not have even been there with his firearm (even though he had a legal permit to carry). After Duthiers added Loesch herself has said “you have gone to protests and you have been armed yourself,” Loesch replied “the administration needs to be a little careful with language and language is incredibly important…not…for some sort of gate-keeping rule,” but “because certain words invoke certain statues and certain penalties[.]” Really good conversation on Monday’s ‘CBS Mornings’ between @VladDuthiersCBS and our friend @DLoesch. First, smart of @BariWeiss’s CBS to even have real, bona fide conservatives on and two, give the guest room to explain a position a lot of their viewers probably haven’t heard… pic.twitter.com/NfBPo8QsIt — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) January 26, 2026 Loesch then explained where the situation devolved with Pretti crossing the line to obstructing a law enforcement function whereas she herself would carry at protests and not seek to cause problems (click “expand”): [S]imply approaching law enforcement with a firearm isn’t indicative of ill intent, nor is it a crime. And, as accurately said, I have over the years, many years, have been armed at protests, both concealed carry and open carry. I have been right in the front face presence of law enforcement while open carry, but there is a difference, though, and I really want people to pay attention to this. At no point was I ever detained nor was I shot at or did I – was I involved in any kind of altercation with law enforcement because I did not insert myself into any kind of federal investigation, and that’s what’s really important here. There’s a difference between carrying by law enforcement and there’s a difference between carrying while in commission of felonious activity and according to U.S. statute, this is federal law, you cannot insert yourself or impede law enforcement operations, and I’m sure that this investigation is going to uncover a lot of questions, and we all have a lot of questions about this. We’ve all seen the videos. We have all seen the angles. But there is a difference – I would never carry and then impede official law enforcement investigation because then it kicks off this domino effect of potentially tragic circumstances that I think everybody wants to avoid. Duthiers followed up by defending Pretti’s position as merely “helping a woman who was pushed down” and, as a result, he was “pepper sprayed by a federal agent before he himself is dragged to the ground.” .@VladDuthiersCBS: “Pretti appears to be helping a woman who was pushed down and pepper sprayed by a federal agent before he himself is dragged to the ground. So, when you see that, is that the action, in your mind, of somebody who is trying to impede or disrupt an operation?”… pic.twitter.com/2H96oJgD1o — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) January 26, 2026 Asked how that would be “imped[ing] or disrupt[ing] an operation,” Loesch said the “moments leading up to” the deadly encounter” will be critical and available videos are “very chaotic” with “[l]ots of people talking, there’s lot of noise, you’ve got the whistle in the background.” The difficulty in ascertaining who said and did what, Loesch argued, was the fault of “some of the leaders in [Minnesota], who have not walked back their rhetoric” by telling protests to confront federal officials. Duthiers responded by arguing those in Minneapolis are having their Fourth Amendment rights violated by immigration agents showing up places of residence and now someone’s Second Amendment rights lead to their death, but Loesch cut to the heart of the matter in the necessity to remove dangerous illegal aliens from the country: Excellent points from @DLosch to @CBSMornings’s @VladDuthiersCBS that any path forward in Minneapolis can’t happen without acknowledging the state has allowed illegal immigrants with dangerous crime records to be out on the streets. Duthiers said no one is objecting to those… pic.twitter.com/7lmRh2o8I5 — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) January 26, 2026 Loesch ended with what our Jorge Bonilla called a “masterclass” amid the left’s “Strange New Respect” for the Second Amendment with leftist Duthiers asserting what’s taking place could be seen by some as “an American citizen…faced the tyranny.” WATCH: @DLoesch absolutely crushed it on Monday’s ‘CBS Mornings,’ especially here in pushing back on the leftist notion that what CBP and ICE have been doing in Minnesota – specifically removing sex offenders from the streets – is “tyranny”…. Vlad Duthiers: “It’s just to… pic.twitter.com/XfdjySj8l8 — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) January 26, 2026 Loesch immediately tore this to shreds: “I don’t know if I would classify the actions of border enforcement to be tyranny” considering their actions are targeting those Minnesota and Minneapolis have “allow[ed]…to run in the street here illegally after having committed numerous violent crimes including child predation, brutal rape.” Unlike a number of liberal hosts or panelists (e.g. Abby Phillip’s CNN show), Loesch tried to close on a unifying note (click “expand”): LOESCH: So, I don’t know if I would call enforcing that necessarily to be tyranny. However, you know, to your point and the reason we are all here today, watching what we saw in the video, I think we all have a lot of questions and I think, too – I encourage people to carry – DUTHIERS: Dana – LOESCH: – I encourage people to exercise their Second Amendment rights, but I also recognize that people need to be encouraged to deescalate as well and make sure that you are not impeding any kind of federal investigation. DUTHIERS: Dana, really – really – LOESCH: But – for the administration, they need to be careful with their words. DUTHIERS: – yeah, that’s an excellent point. I encourage also people to read your Substack. It really is interesting. Earlier in the show, CBS also showed nuance in discussing this tragedy with a CBS News contributor and former Suffolk County, New York police commissioner:             TWEET: https://x.com/CurtisHouck/status/2015825333102981375 In contrast, there was more nonsense in correspondent Nicole Sganga providing a supposed analysis of the available videos (which NBC’s Tom Winter was, like with the Renee Good case, exceptional): + Monday's 'CBS Mornings' didn't mention the far-left rioters attacking a hotel they believed federal law enforcement was staying at, but instead correspondent Nicole Sganga argued Pretti was merely "an observer" of immigration operations when his deadly encounter took place pic.twitter.com/6pdP9gCTJO — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) January 26, 2026 To see the relevant CBS transcript from January 26, click here.

Inciting Violence: The View Justifies Bringing Guns to Use Against ICE

The mask fully came off during Monday’s edition of The View and exposed their true extremist face. Reacting to another ICE-involved shooting death in Minnesota, ABC News co-hosts declared that the law enforcement actions by Immigration and Customs Enforcement were the kind of thing America’s Founding Fathers wanted the Second Amendment used for. It was The View’s most direct incitement to violence to date. Despite being staunchly against the Second Amendment prior to weekend shooting, including denouncing a concealed gun carrier for stopping a mass shooting, The View cast was suddenly Second Amendment scholars. Pretend independent co-hosts Sara Haines (with agreement from co-host Sunny Hostin, who once claimed the Second Amendment was only about enforcing slavery) proclaimed that the Second Amendment was intended to be used for moments like what was happening in Minnesota: HAINES: And the birth of the Second Amendment was about the people being able to protect themselves in case the government was to turn on them. SUNNY HOSTIN: It's for this very same thing! HAINES: Yes! Exactly what's happening right now. I'm guessing he carries this wherever he goes, whatever. But this is a prime example of what people were allowed to protect themselves against; was to carry that weapon.   The View justifies Pretti bringing a gun to confront ICE, in case he needed to use it against them: HAINES: And the birth of the second amendment was about the people being able to protect themselves in case the government was to turn on them. HOSTIN: It's for this very same… pic.twitter.com/HB6Tc8Zbef — Nicholas Fondacaro (@NickFondacaro) January 26, 2026   Despite their conversation going on for just under four minutes, when they have often gone more than double that length, the producers immediately started playing them off to go to a commercial. And given moderator Whoopi Goldberg’s irritated look off screen, it seemed like a surprise. Earlier in the show, Haines seemed to plant the seeds to assert that guns were needed to stave off ICE violence. Ignoring the riots overnight, and other attempts on their lives, Haines claimed the only ones being violent were the ICE agents and claimed they were trying to “win by shooting people”: The people that seem to be bringing the violence are the ICE agents themselves. And I know there are good ICE agents, but the problem is they're currently recruiting people using imagery from single-shooter games, giving them this vibe that they're coming to get rid of, you know, vermin. And then they're also telling them you have immunity. Steven Miller is saying you have immunity, J.D. Vance is saying you have immunity. They're not only not going to just win by shooting people, they're not even getting investigated properly.   Sara Haines claims the people people being violent are "the ICE agents themselves." She suggests they think they're going to "win by shooting people" and claims the administration wants it. Ignoring how agitators were trying to obstruct ICE's lawful duties, she even whines about… pic.twitter.com/IHE3SvPxLs — Nicholas Fondacaro (@NickFondacaro) January 26, 2026   Haines had a history to promoting the deaths of her political opponents. In 2023, Haines - a staunchly pro-choice leftist - proclaimed that pro-lifers should die of cancer because it's "God's will." Prior to talking about the gun what was present at the shooting of Alex Pretti, Goldberg seemed to claim that he didn’t have one at all. “They murdered a man. He is standing, he has his phone and he has a bottle of water. He has his phone and a bottle of water and they shot him ten TIMES!” she shouted. ABC and The View did not respond to NewsBusters’ request for comment. Else where in their conversation, co-host Ana Navarro claimed there was no evidence that ICE had arrested any criminal illegal immigrant (despite The View previously calling the evidence “defamatory”). She also falsely suggested that only thing Pretti had on him was a camera. The transcript is below. Click "expand" to read: ABC’s The View January 26, 2026 11:05:01 a.m. Eastern (…) WHOOPI GOLDBERG: So, people on both sides of the aisle are saying the account from Noem and bovine does not seem to match what they watched on their -- with their own two eyes. So, the question is, how long can they continue this? They murdered a man. He is standing, he has his phone and he has a bottle of water. He has his phone and a bottle of water and they shot him ten TIMES! What the -- what is your thoughts? SARA HAINES: I think this is why these people are showing up as ICE watchers and protesting to make sure we have video, because they're not allowing local law enforcement to investigate these moments. So, without these videos of bystanders, we wouldn't have seen what happened. But I found it interesting that Kristi Noem and Greg Bovino were saying this man clearly wanted to do maximum damage. He’s a domestic terrorist. The people that seem to be bringing the violence are the ICE agents themselves. So the administration has spoken and set the tone for this, and that's what we're seeing right now. And that's why people are being killed completely unjustly because they not only came after him, when you watch that videos from a gazillion different angles and there’s not a lot of grey area. They're spraying them with a pepper spray before they’re even doing any – they’re not even doing anything. And people have a right to blow whistles, to call out. Those are all protected First Amendment rights. There is no discrepancy there. (…) 11:22:34 a.m. Eastern HAINES: By the way, when you have a license or a permit to carry, oftentimes people always carry. So, I had an ex who was an NYPD, he wasn't on the job at all, he didn't go to Dunkin' Donuts without his weapon on him. Carrying a weapon into places when you are legally carrying that becomes like anywhere you go. And the birth of the Second Amendment was about the people being able to protect themselves in case the government was to turn on them. SUNNY HOSTIN: It's for this very same thing! HAINES: Yes! Exactly what's happening right now. I'm guessing he carries this wherever he goes, whatever. But this is a prime example of what people were allowed to protect themselves against; was to carry that weapon So, it wasn't something you even saw him handle - [Start of being played off] -which is the perfect example to prove the point. GOLDBERG: [Looks off stage irritated at producer and scoffs]  We will talk more about this when we come back.

'Proud to be a sanctuary city': Mamdani announces another handout for illegal aliens in NYC

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) says that taxpayers will be on the hook for another handout available to illegal aliens. The socialist mayor and Democratic New York Gov. Kathy Hochul had previously announced their plan to provide free child care for 2-year-olds in the city as well as other programs for children across the state.'These are programs for every single New Yorker. These are not programs that are going to ask the immigration status of any one of the children.'During a roundtable discussion Friday, Mamdani said that the program would be open to illegal immigrants."Just to put it very clearly, these are programs for every single New Yorker. These are not programs that are going to ask the immigration status of any one of the children," he said."All of those children are New Yorkers," he added. "They should all be enrolled in 3-K and pre-K, no matter where they were born or where they come from."He went on to clarify the sanctuary city policies of New York City."And we are also proud to be a sanctuary city," Mamdani continued. "What a sanctuary city means is that we have policies in place, policies have existed for years in the city, that deny ICE agents access into schools, hospitals, city properties, or even the properties of city contractors unless those ICE agents can present a judicial warrant signed by a judge."Hochul has previously had to cut education funds in order to make up for spending on the immigration crisis. She has also set aside funds to help fight the Trump administration in court. "As New York’s first mom Governor, fighting for New York’s families has always been at the core of my agenda," said Hochul earlier in the month. "Since taking office, I’ve put families front and center, fighting to make our state more affordable and laying the groundwork to deliver universal childcare."RELATED: 'Such an a**hole': Mamdani rejects kids' snow day despite brutal forecast — backlash is fierce President Donald Trump has made the dismantling of sanctuary city policies a central goal of his second term. His efforts to defund local governments with the policies have been stymied by legal opposition.Critics of socialism are watching New York City closely to watch the effects of Mamdani's policies on the prominent U.S. city. He has vowed to significantly hike up taxes in order to fund massive increases in social spending. Like Blaze News? Knifed for 'being a Christian'? Suspect allegedly stabs man and his dog after asking about victim's religion

A suspect allegedly stabbed a man and his dog Sunday in Washington state after the suspect asked the victim what religion he is, the Pierce County Sheriff's Office said. The 54-year-old male victim called 911 reporting that an unknown male stabbed him near the S S Quickstop Grocery in Parkland just before 6:30 a.m. and that the male fled southbound on Park Avenue S., officials said. Parkland is about 45 minutes south of Seattle.'This would actually be a hate crime based on religion.'When deputies arrived, the victim was in serious condition and told deputies the unknown man had come up to him and asked what religion he was, officials said."The victim answered the man and said something about being a Christian, and the man then attacked and stabbed the victim and his dog," officials added. The victim provided a description of the suspect prior to being transported to a local hospital; the victim's dog was also in serious condition and was transported to a local animal hospital and was taken into surgery immediately, officials said.Deputies used a K-9 to search the area for more than two hours but were unable to locate the suspect, officials said.At 8:40 a.m. while conducting an area check, a deputy saw the suspect in the 800 block of 112th St. S, and the suspect fled behind a nearby home, officials said.Deputies followed the suspect and reported that shots had been fired at 8:47 a.m., officials said.KOMO-TV reported that the sheriff's office confirmed the suspect was dead and that multiple deputies shot the suspect. The sheriff's office added to KOMO that the suspect was armed with multiple knives, was resisting arrest, and approached deputies before shots were fired.RELATED: 'Enough is enough': Fed-up Florida sheriff has tough words for anti-ICE leftists who stormed Minnesota churchDetectives do not know the suspect's identity or his connection, if any, to the area or the house he fled behind, KOMO added.KING-TV said the stabbing victim, Eddie Nitschke, lives in the convenience store's parking lot in a car with his girlfriend and two dogs.Nitschke told KING he initially responded to the suspect that he wasn't religious, but the suspect kept pushing the issue about what religion he was, after which Nitschke told the suspect, "I guess Christian."The suspect then accused Nitschke of pursuing him, KING added: "He said, 'You've been looking for me for some time,' and I said, 'I don't even know you.'"KING said the suspect soon struck Nitschke multiple times with two knives and punctured his lung.During the attack, Nitschke told his girlfriend to release their dog from the car, KING reported, adding that the dog attacked the suspect and was also stabbed."My shirt was drenched with blood," Nitschke recounted to KING.More from KING:At the hospital, Nitschke discovered the suspect was being treated in an adjacent room. While being interviewed by police, he heard commotion next door."And then I'm sitting there and then I hear 'Code red, code red' and they wheeled the guy in right beside me in the next room," Nitschke said. After learning the suspect had died, Nitschke said he felt conflicted."When I found out that he died, I thought to myself, ‘Oh, he died.’ I felt bad, but then I thought, ‘He just stabbed me,’" he said.Nitschke discharged himself from the hospital, KING said."They didn't want to let me go," he recalled to KING. "I just don't want to be in the hospital. I wanted to find out about my dog." It appears from KING's video report that the dog is OK.RELATED: Trans punk rocker who sang, 'Does your God have a big fat d**k?' at Bernie Sanders rally hits back at critics More than 500 comments have appeared under the sheriff's office Facebook post about the incident. As you might imagine, some commenters didn't take too kindly to the suspect's actions apparently related to the victim reportedly telling him he's a Christian."I believe this would be on major news if he, the victim, wasn’t Christian," one commenter wrote."This would actually be a hate crime based on religion," another user said. "Will it be prosecuted that way? Doubtful due to the religion being Christianity.""It's not a hate crime if the victim is Christian," another user said with seeming sarcasm."No protests?" another commenter wondered with tongue fully in cheek."Another hate crime attack that the mainstream media will ignore since facts don't support their agenda," another user stated. "Libs will post laughing emojis since they are mentally ill and have twisted morals."Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors, sign up for our newsletters, and get stories like this direct to your inbox.
