Legal scholar and Fox News contributor Jonathan Turley says that, according to interview transcripts recently released by the Department of Justice, Ghislaine Maxwell exonerates President Donald Trump from any illicit involvement in Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking operation. Moreover, the former Epstein associate states that “there is no list” and that “she never saw a list,” a claim that Turley believes “hits hard” in Washington, D.C. “There was a true buzzkill feeling in Washington. People, particularly Democrats, are saying that virtually everything the president’s doing is an effort to distract from the Epstein files,” Turley explains. The Trump administration has faced increased scrutiny since Attorney General Pam Bondi said that the list was on her desk, ready for review, then appeared to backtrack. At the beginning of July, Bondi declared that federal investigations found child pornography files rather than an extensive “Epstein List” of clients who visited the multimillionaire’s private island. Democrat lawmakers, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., have since worked to amplify the idea that Trump was attempting to delay the release of these documents, accusing the president of being involved in Epstein’s sex trafficking ring. “Wow, who would have thought that electing a rapist would have complicated the release of the Epstein Files?” Ocasio-Cortez wrote on X on July 11. The DOJ released all transcripts of her interview last Friday, in which she states that she never saw Trump act inappropriately, according to Fox. The transcripts are from July 24 and July 25, 2025, when Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche visited Maxwell to discuss her links to Epstein and offer any potential information on individuals allegedly connected to her former business’ partner. “I actually never saw the president in any type of massage setting. I never witnessed the president in any inappropriate setting in any way. The president was never inappropriate with anybody. In the times that I was with him, he was a gentleman in all respects,” Maxwell stated in the transcript. “The interviews actually would on their face exonerate, but many people are saying, ‘Look, she has a reason to do that. She wants a commutation. She wants a pardon, and this will help her do that. She was moved to a better prison,'” Turley added. “There’s another possibility, right? There isn’t anything on the president, and that she’s telling the truth,” Turley said. “What really hit hard in Washington with his critics is they’re saying there is no list, that she never saw a list. In June, there were more than 2,000 earthquakes near the volcano on one day, the researchers said, which is a sign that an eruption may occur. However, that number dipped closer to 100 soon after, they said. And in July, the tsunami waves from the 8.8-magnitude earthquake near Kamchatka “triggered the automated alerts we have in place to notify us when an eruption might be starting” — even though it wasn’t. “For the size of eruptions we’ve seen in the last 20 years … if you were on top of it on a boat, you would never know it,” Chadwick said to local media. The Axial Seamount, deemed the “most active submarine volcano” in the Northeastern Pacific Ocean by researchers, has erupted before in 1998, 2011, and 2015. He was 96. A representative confirmed to USA TODAY on Sunday, Aug. 24, that the actor “passed peacefully in his sleep.” He is survived by his four daughters. Adler starred as Herman “Hesh” Rabkin, an adviser to Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini), on “The Sopranos.” He debuted in the role in the acclaimed HBO series’ first episode in 1999 and continued playing the character through the final season. Adler previously worked as a stage manager and theater director, but he didn’t have his first acting role until he was in his 60s and appeared on the sitcom “Brooklyn Bridge” in 1991. In order to fill the rosters, the Women’s Pro Baseball League held three days of tryouts in Washington, D.C., with the best female baseball players from 9 countries running drills at the Nationals Youth Baseball Academy. “We’re building a future, but we’re continuing that tradition and showing what’s possible,” explained league co-founder Justine Siegal. “Women have been great athletes all along. But now that everyone’s noticing it, you know, women’s sports is [moving] forward.” Hundreds of athletes signed up to try and secure a spot in the league. Each day of tryouts, players will be weeded out by skill and talent until an exhibition game on Monday at Nationals Park. Then, 150 will qualify for the WPBL October draft. This was absolutely uncalled for. A horrific video shows the son of former UFC fighter Rampage Jackson attacking a professional wrestler. In the video, Raj Jackson is seen sneaking into the wrestling ring and body slamming pro wrestler Syko Stu. It doesn’t stop there. Raj Jackson then repeatedly punched Stu in the face until he no longer appeared conscious. The New York Post provided more details on the horrific attack: Unsettling video from a pro wrestling event in California shows the son of UFC great Quinton “Rampage” Jackson pummeling a wrestler to the point that he appeared unconscious in a moment that was allegedly unscripted. Raja Jackson went into the ring to take down bearded wrestler Syko Stu at KnokX Pro’s KnokXperience event on Saturday in Sun Valley that was streamed on Kick after Stu hit Jackson in the head with a can outside the venue earlier in the night. But Jackson pelt Stu with more than 20 punches that appeared real — and the wrestler seemed to be knocked out before others pulled Jackson away. Rampage Jackson addressed the incident in an early-morning tweet Sunday, stating that Stu was in stable condition. Footage from the event posted on social media showed Jackson’s son, Raja Jackson – a professional MMA fighter – sliding into the ring during another bout and throwing Syko Stu, whose real name is Stuart Smith, to the mat. The video, which bears a watermark suggesting it was livestreamed on the video platform Kick, showed Jackson straddling Smith before repeatedly punching him in the face and the side of his head, even when Smith was lying motionless. Other wrestlers then restrained Jackson. CNN has not been able to independently verify the video and Raja Jackson’s profile no longer exists on Kick. As president, I would much prefer that he clean up this crime disaster before I go there for a ‘walk.’” Former Maryland 7th Congressional District GOP candidate Kim Klacik famously walked the streets of Baltimore during the 2020 Black Lives Matter era, starting the whole “walk the streets” political narratives. The New York Times shared more on the debacle: When Wes Moore ran for governor of Maryland in 2022, questions about whether he had claimed to have been awarded a Bronze Star for his Army service in Afghanistan hovered over his campaign. For reasons that remain unexplained, two television interviewers, Gwen Ifill and Stephen Colbert, had wrongly introduced him years earlier as a recipient of the award. Mr. Moore failed to correct them, even as he and his aides insisted he had never told anyone he had a Bronze Star. But at least once, Mr. Moore, now the state’s Democratic governor, did say he had received the award. He made the claim on an application for a prestigious White House fellowship in 2006, when he was 27 years old, according to a copy of the document that was obtained this week by The New York Times as part of a Freedom of Information Act request. “For my work,” he wrote, “the 82nd Airborne Division have awarded me the Bronze Star Medal and the Combat Action Badge.” However, when Mr. Moore submitted the application in January 2006, he had not been awarded either the Bronze Star or the Combat Action Badge. He was awarded the badge in May 2006 for an episode the previous December, but there is no record showing that he ever received a Bronze Star, an Army spokeswoman said. Mr. Moore’s old claim has come to light as his national profile has risen. Vice President Kamala Harris included him in the first round of candidates vetted to be her running mate — questions about the Bronze Star did not come up, Mr. Moore said, while the Harris campaign declined to comment. Fox News had more details to add on Flanagan’s future as an assistant AG: The Rhode Island assistant attorney general whose arrest went viral earlier this week after she seemingly tried to use her position to evade arrest, telling officers they’d “regret” putting her behind bars, will be placed on unpaid leave. Special Assistant Attorney General Devon Flanagan, who was arrested for trespassing, was placed on paid leave after the incident while the Rhode Island Attorney General’s office reviewed the matter. Starting Monday, Flanagan will go on unpaid leave, the office told Fox News Digital. It is unclear how long Flanagan will remain on unpaid leave until a final determination is made on her employment. The attorney general’s office did not respond to additional questions about its ongoing review of the matter or when it might make a final decision. State payroll records, according to the Boston Globe, show that Flanagan was making about $113,000 a year in her position as a special assistant attorney general. “I’m an AG! I’m an AG!” Flanagan told police as they tried to detain her for failing to comply with their demands. “You’re going to regret this. You’re going to regret it. I’m an A-” Flanagan said as she was escorted to the back of a police car and the door was shut. “Good for you, I don’t give a s—,” one of the arresting officers said at one point. In a subsequent radio interview after Flanagan’s arrest, Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha called it “inexcusable behavior” that will likely result in “strong, strong sanction[s].” However, he did note that this isn’t the first time he’s dealt with a case like this involving his staff. “I’ve got 110 lawyers. She embarrassed all of them. I haven’t had many issues like this while I’ve been attorney general. I’ve had a few, and I let one guy go for driving drunk — had to bring him back. Well, I didn’t have to but did bring him back after I fired him about a year later because, again, I needed somebody to go into a courtroom and try ugly, hard murder cases,” Neronha told WPRO Radio. This wasn’t just bad judgment, it was willful disobedience, misrepresentation of the law, and the ugly face of a ruling class that thinks they’re smarter, better, and more important than the people they serve,” Rhode Island Republican Party Chairman Joe Powers said. Powers also praised the Newport police for how they handled the situation. “These officers showed the restraint, poise, and integrity that Ms. Flanagan clearly lacked,” he said. “They did their job with honor while she played the role of a spoiled elitist.”

An explosion at a Louisiana automotive supply plant started a massive fire and prompted a mandatory evacuation order. A local elementary school was also evacuated following the blast. The Guardian has more: Among all US residents, 15.4% were immigrants as of June 2025, down from the recent historic high of 15.8% in January. The Pew survey also found that 750,000 immigrant workers had dropped out of the US labor force since January, which is now 19% foreign-born. The center pointed to several policy changes that have affected immigrant populations across the US, including Joe Biden’s restrictions on asylum applications in 2024, which led to a significant decrease in border crossings involving immigrants seeking asylum. Additionally, the center pointed to Donald Trump’s 181 executive actions targeting immigration, including the arrival of new immigrants and the mass deportation of noncitizen immigrants. The center noted that the change in the data could be due to a declining survey response rate among immigrants. Mexico remains the largest origin country among US immigrants. As of mid-2023, more than 11 million US residents were born in Mexico, marking nearly a quarter, or 22%, of all immigrants nationally. Nevertheless, immigration from Mexico has declined since 2007 and the Mexican-born population in the US has dropped. From 2010 to 2023, the Mexican share of the US immigrant population dropped from 29% to 22%, according to Pew’s research. During the Biden administration, the number of unauthorized immigrants living in the United States significantly increased. “Though Mexico remains the country where the most unauthorized immigrants in the U.S. are from, it accounted for 30% of the nation’s unauthorized immigrants living here in 2023,” the report read. “Mexicans represented a majority of unauthorized immigrants in the U.S. through 2016; their share in 2023 was by far the smallest share on record,” it added. In 2023, 2.1 million unauthorized immigrants lived in Texas — the second-highest number of any state. The “unauthorized immigrant” label refers to those in this country without permanent status or active visas. According to researchers, this post-pandemic growth was driven primarily by the rise of unauthorized immigrants with some deportation protections. This population includes those paroled into the country under the Biden administration and asylum-seekers. While data is still being collected for 2024 and 2025, Pew Research preliminary data shows that changes in federal policy in mid-2024 have slowed that growth. In his last several months in office, the Biden administration stopped accepting asylum applications at the southern border and paused parole programs.
