Ernest Enlists Ella Langley On Stellar Duet Of “Would If I Could”

Filling in for Lainey Wilson. Ella Langley and Ernest are a duo that I’d like to see collaborate one day, and even more so after seeing them perform together. On Monday night, Ernest hosted a free concert outside of Nashville’s Loser’s Bar & Grill, a popular bar in Midtown, to celebrate the launch of his new record label, DeVille Records. Ernest and some of his friends, including Jake Worthington, Jamey Johnson, Morgan Wallen, and Miss Ella Langley, provided excellent music throughout the night. While Morgan Wallen’s surprise appearance to perform an acoustic version of “Flower Shops” was a noteworthy performance, there is another duet that I think also needs some attention. Miss Ella Langley, the newly named ACM New Female Artist of the Year, hit the stage with Ernest filling in for Lainey Wilson on a knockout performance of “Would If I Could.” Originally written in 1996 by two of the all-time great country music songwriters, Dean Dillon and Skip Ewing, the classic country heartbreaker was adapted for Ernest’s NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE record. Ahead of the duet’s release, Wilson shared that she was obsessed with the song, and Ernest felt like it embodied what this record represented at its core. Ernest described the record as an attempt to honor the songwriting and storytelling that make country music so unique and special, and he and Wilson did just that on this cover of “Would If I Could.” “I was born and raised in Nashville. I love this city, it’s the country music capital of the world, and this album is a positive affirmation in the name of country music. That country at its core, the songwriting and storytelling, is popular again.” While I don’t think there is any need to replace Wilson on this duet, given hectic tour schedules, interview appearances, and more, sometimes a friend needs to take the place of the original duet partner, and Ella Langley did just that on Monday night. Given that the duet was done acoustically, it allowed Langley to shine as she delivered the lyrics. Her vocals are as smooth as butter, and she filled Wilson’s shoes flawlessly during this performance. Both musicians’ vocals pair flawlessly together, laying down harmonies that could kill. I could sit and listen to those two all day. I hope we get more from Ernest and Ella Langley in the future. Willie Nelson & Steve Perry Team Up For Beautiful Rendition Of 1983 Hit “Faithfully,” As Part Of Farm Aid Fundraiser

Two legends teaming up for the first time. Journey frontman Steve Perry and Willie Nelson teamed up for a reimagined version of Journey’s 1983 hit “Faithfully,” which will serve as a celebration of, and fundraiser for, the 40th anniversary of Farm Aid, which will head to Huntington Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota with Willie, Neil Young, John Mellencamp and more. “Steve Perry & Willie Nelson, ‘Faithfully’, out now on Dark Horse Records. In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Farm Aid, proceeds from the single will go to the nonprofit organization.” Of course, “Faithfully” was first released as the second single from Journey’s Frontiers album, and was written by keyboardist Jonathan Cain. It peaked at number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100, giving the band their second consecutive top-twenty hit from Frontiers. It has become one of their signature songs over the years, and is a beloved, easily recognizable rock ballad that has stood the test of time over many decades. Of course, Journey is one of the most popular rock bands of all-time, having the most commercial success in the ’70s and ’80s with smash hits like “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Any Way You Want It,” “Open Arms” and more. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Steve Perry (@steveperrymusic) There’s something special about their voices now, which have been touched by age, but it gives it another level of depth and beauty, adding a whole different feeling. Obviously, Willie is in his 90s and can’t quite let it rip like he used to, but Perry, who has one of the greatest voices ever (even though he’s talked about vocal damage and how it’s changed over the years), has still got it. I wasn’t expecting him to still sound great, but he did, and I love everything about this. Do yourself a favor and check it out: “Faithfully” Willie will kick off an extensive run of his annual Outlaw Music Festival tour last night in Phoenix, Arizona and also features a fantastic lineup in Bob Dylan, Billy Strings, Turnpike Troubadours, The Avett Brothers, Wilco, The Red Clay Strays, Charles Wesley Godwin, Willow Avalon, Waylon Payne and many more. 2025 OUTLAW MUSIC FESTIVAL Is It Just Me, Or Does This Guy On The Cover Of Field & Stream From The Month Morgan Wallen Was Born Look Like…Morgan Wallen?

Wait a second… Morgan Wallen celebrated his 32nd birthday yesterday, May 13, just days before the release of his upcoming 36-track mega-album I’m The Problem. It’s been an eventful trip around the sun for Morgan, but after he wrapped up his One Night At A Time stadium tour last fall he largely stepped away from the spotlight and took some time to himself out of the public eye. Of course Morgan’s also a big outdoors guy, spending a lot of time in deer stands and on the water rippin’ lips, so there’s no doubt he spent plenty of time out in nature once he came off the road. And that’s also a big part of the reason he recently bought the iconic outdoors brand Field & Stream, along with his friend, fellow country artist and avid outdoorsman Eric Church. The powerhouse duo managed to acquire not only the editorial version of Field & Stream, bringing back the print magazine for the first time in years, but they also bought the retail side of the brand too, bringing them both under the same ownership for the first time in decades. Since coming under new ownership, Field & Stream announced a new music festival, which is scheduled to host their inaugural event this fall after being forced to cancel in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. And they also launched a new partnership with Tractor Supply for a new line of Field & Stream products like gun safes, deer stands and hunting blinds. Field & Stream feels like a natural fit for a guy like Morgan, who grew up in the outdoors, hunting and fishing in his hometown in east Tennessee. But it seems like his ownership of the iconic brand may have been more than just a smart business decision: It may have been fate all along. Take a look at this classic cover of Field & Stream from May 1993. The photo features a guy dressed in camo sitting by a tree with his rifle…a guy who bears an uncanny resemblance to Morgan Wallen himself. And even more ironic…May 1993 is the month Morgan was born. Seems like it was fate all along. Of course I have no idea who the guy on the cover actually is, although I know it’s not Morgan. But it’s a crazy coincidence that the guy on the cover of the magazine for the month Morgan was born – the magazine that Morgan now owns – looks pretty much exactly like him. The universe works in mysterious ways. Aside from having a doppelganger on the magazine that he now owns, Morgan has quite a bit going on these days. His new album comes out this Friday, and yesterday he gave fans a chance to get a first listen to the new project at his downtown Nashville bar. And he also made a surprise appearance on Monday night with his friend Ernest at the concert celebrating the launch of Ern’s new record label, Deville Records. The new album will feature a collaboration with his friend and fellow Field & Stream owner Eric Church on a song called “Number 3 and Number 7,” which you’ve gotta think is a tribute to Dale Earnhardt and Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 (which happen to be two of my favorite things). Still, with everything he’s got going on, you gotta think that Morgan would rather be sitting by a tree scoping out bucks – like he apparently was during the month he was born. The post Is It Just Me, Or Does This Guy On The Cover Of Field & Stream From The Month Morgan Wallen Was Born Look Like…Morgan Wallen? first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
