“Faith in the Darkest Hour”: Camp Mystic Nurse Captures Footage Of Campers Coming Together In Song

For the hundreds of survivors of the devastating Camp Mystic flood, their lives are forever changed. The all-girls Christian camp in Hunt, Texas, experienced a catastrophic flood on the Fourth of July. Dozens of campers and counselors perished, and some remain missing. Incredibly, the faith of the survivors remains strong, and they are thanking God to be alive. Video of a bus leaving Camp Mystic following the flood captured the raw emotions of young girls shocked by what they saw. As they looked out the windows, Camp Mystic was a shell of its former self. But what they did next was positively moving. The Girls Praised God As The Left Camp Mystic As the bus surveyed the land, the Camp Mystic survivors sang the beloved hymn, Pass It On. Their voices united like angels. These young girls chose faith over fear, and it’s hard not to become emotional listening. The Austin American-Statesman shared the footage on YouTube, and the comment section was so impressed by the Camp Mystic family. “We used to sing ‘I’ll Pass It On’ at my camp in Pinelands of New Jersey when I was a kid. It’s been so hard watching all of this because I literally went away for camp every summer for a week when I was these children’s age. I can’t imagine what they were going through. I have been praying constantly. And I sung this song with you tears flowing,” someone shared. “I hadn’t heard ‘I want to pass it on.’ For years. I sang this at my youth group. Gave me chills. Kids praising God in the middle of all this. Amazing young Christians,” another person commented. Many loved seeing the girls of Camp Mystic’s faith. “I just love those heavenly voices singing praises unto God. They are grateful for life. My prayers go out to all involved. God please be with these families all over Texas and comfort them in their grief and loss,” a follower wrote. ‘American Hero’: All Corners Praise Coast Guard Swimmer Who Saved Lives Amid Texas Floods

Republicans and Democrats are hailing a Coast Guard swimmer as a national hero after he saved 165 lives from the flash floods in central Texas.   Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem took to the social media platform X to share about Petty Officer 3rd Class Scott Ruskan: “United States Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer and Petty Officer Scott [Ruskan], directly saved an astonishing 165 victims in the devastating flooding in central Texas. This was the first rescue mission of his career and he was the only triage coordinator at the scene.”  “Scott [Ruskan] is an American hero,” Noem added. “His selfless courage embodies the spirit and mission of the [U.S. Coast Guard].”  United States Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer and Petty Officer Scott Ruskin, directly saved an astonishing 165 victims in the devastating flooding in central Texas. This was the first rescue mission of his career and he was the only triage coordinator at the scene.Scott Ruskin is…— Secretary Kristi Noem (@Sec_Noem) July 6, 2025 The official account of the White House also took to X to praise Ruskan: “Scott Ruskan and his aircrew saved 165 lives on their first mission during the Texas floods. From the U.S. Military to first responders and volunteers — these brave Americans remind us who we are. When disaster strikes, they don’t run from the storm. They run into it.”  Democrats also praised Ruskan. “In our darkest times we see people do extraordinary things to help others,” Sen. Andy Kim, D-N.J., posted on X. “Petty Officer Scott Ruskan from NJ heroically rescued 165 people from the Texas floods. We are eternally grateful to Ruskan and other first responders risking their lives for others.” In our darkest times we see people do extraordinary things to help others. Dozens are missing. Bryan Winchell, a Texas Task Force 1 helicopter search and rescue technician, called the Coast Guard from Corpus Christi for reinforcement in central Texas on the Fourth of July, according to The New York Post.    Ruskan helped to spearhead the triage and evacuation efforts at Camp Mystic, the Christian summer camp for girls in Texas’ Hill Country that has suffered some of the worst effects of the floods.   Due to poor weather conditions, it took Ruskan and his team almost 6 hours via helicopter to travel to San Antonio from Corpus Christi, to get closer to Camp Mystic. Ruskan and his team worked with 12 rescue helicopters to evacuate close to 200 people, The New York Times reported. Landing zones were set up on an archery field and a soccer field. Ruskan then gave up his spot on a helicopter to allow for two extra spots for the rescuees. He told his crew that he would love to stay to continue helping.  “That’s a little bit outside our area of operation normally, but people were in danger, and we’re a good asset to try and help people out, and these guys were asking for help, so that’s kind of what we do,” Ruskan told The New York Post. He said he wanted to comfort the victims, noting that it was “probably the worst day of their life.”   Ruskan said he realized that while he could not successfully find every single missing person, he could ensure those who were found were brought to safety and help console them.  “Honestly, I’m mostly just a dude. I’m just doing a job,” he told the Post. “This is what I signed up for, and I think that any single Coast Guard rescue swimmer or any single Coast Guard pilot, flight mechanic, whoever it may be, would have done the exact same thing in our situation.”  “That’s what we were asked to do and we’re gonna do it,” he added. “Any one of us, if anyone else was on duty that day, they would have done the same thing as us. We just happened to be the crew that got the case.” The post ‘American Hero’: All Corners Praise Coast Guard Swimmer Who Saved Lives Amid Texas Floods appeared first on The Daily Signal.

EXCLUSIVE: Marc Elias-Led Group Guided Illinois on Anti-Trump Litigation, Documents Reveal

FIRST ON THE DAILY SIGNAL – A former Clinton election lawyer sought to team up with a key Democrat state attorney general to create litigation chaos in the early days of the Trump administration, documents obtained by The Daily Signal show. Shortly after November’s presidential election, a legal organization led by anti-Trump Democrat super lawyer Marc Elias was advising the office of Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul about confronting the incoming Trump administration. Since President Donald Trump took office, Illinois has taken at least 13 civil actions against the administration on immigration policy, election rules, federal funding, and other matters. In most cases, the lawsuits were part of multistate actions by Democrat attorneys general.  Last week, Raoul joined a coalition of 20 Democrat state attorneys general challenging the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ decision to provide data to the Department of Homeland Security regarding illegal immigration.  Elias is the chairman of the nonprofit liberal group Democracy Forward. He is a former lawyer for the Hillary Clinton 2016 presidential campaign who helped instigate discredited theory that Trump’s campaign conspired with the Russian government to win the election. Elias’ law firm, the Elias Law Group, regularly sues states to oppose voter ID laws and other election integrity measures. He was also the former lawyer for the Democratic National Committee, Emily’s List, Priorities USA, and other prominent Democrat-leaning groups.  The Daily Signal obtained redacted correspondence between Raoul’s staff and Democracy Forward staff dating back to Nov. 21 through a public records request to the Illinois attorney general’s office. The attorney general’s office informed The Daily Signal in writing that more documents are forthcoming. While the initial tranche provided little detail, the documents demonstrate the state’s link with the left-leaning litigation group.  Just weeks after Trump defeated Democrat Vice President Kamala Harris, an email from Carrie Y. Flaxman, senior legal adviser to Democracy Forward, said to Illinois Deputy Solicitor General Sarah Hunger, “Hi Sarah, Would you have a few minutes to connect sometime soon? Best, Carrie.” The Daily Signal previously reported that records revealed Democrat attorneys general in multiple states were planning for litigation against the potential Trump administration by mid-2024, well before Election Day.  Two days after Trump took the oath of office, Karyn Bass Ehler, the assistant chief deputy attorney general for Illinois, sent an email to Aleshadye Getachew, senior counsel for Democracy Forward. The subject line was “Accepted: DF/Illinois AG re EO Strategy.” The Illinois attorney general’s office, along with other states, gained an initial victory over the Trump administration on Jan. 31 in a lawsuit challenging the Trump administration’s federal funding freeze. Illinois teamed with a coalition of 22 state attorneys general.  In June, Raoul–along with 19 other Democrat state attorneys general–won a preliminary injunction against the Trump administration over illegal immigration conditions placed on federal transportation funding.  Litigation also included an April lawsuit challenging Trump’s executive order on election integrity. Raoul was part of a 19-attorney general coalition.  Neither the Illinois state attorney general’s press office nor Democracy Forward’s press office responded to requests for on-the-record comments for this story. Was Climate Change Responsible For the Texas Floods?

Flash flooding in central Texas has killed at least 104 people, including 28 children, and while Democrats have rushed to blame climate change for the disaster, climate analysts have countered that narrative. The flooding began on Friday and escalated over the weekend, and the death toll continues to climb, according to CNN. “North Carolina. Texas. When will floods finally wash away the climate change denial in DC that is now washing away America’s economically productive clean energy industries?” Washington Gov. Jay Inslee, a Democrat, posted on X Monday. “I think climate change is obviously a part of it,” Rep. Joaquin Castro, D-Texas, told CNN’s Dana Bash on Sunday, after she brought up the issue. “These floods are happening more often.” CNN’s Dana Bash identifies two possible causes for the Texas flooding tragedy in questions to Dem Rep Castro:Climate change and the Trump administration. pic.twitter.com/v3SHssccmA— Western Lensman (@WesternLensman) July 6, 2025 Are the floods happening more often? If so, how clear is it that the burning of fossil fuels is responsible? Axios cited Andrew Dessler, director of the Texas Center for Extreme Weather at Texas A&M, in predicting that increased floods are “exactly what the future is going to hold,” but the data arguably points in the opposite direction. When approached for comment, the Environmental Protection Agency dismissed “partisanship” in response to the tragedy. “Now is not the time for partisanship or finger-pointing,” an EPA spokesperson told The Daily Signal. “EPA stands ready to help Texans get back on their feet in the wake of this tragedy.” Rainfall and Climate An analysis of global rainfall trends over the past 200 years published by The Heritage Foundation earlier this year concludes that “global rainfall trends and extremes do not align with a global systematic change that could be attributed to a single driver, such as rising carbon-dioxide emissions.” “Rainfall doesn’t follow a regular pattern—it goes up and down in unpredictable ways and varies a lot from place to place,” Diana Furchtgott-Roth, director of Heritage’s Center for Energy, Climate and Environment, told The Daily Signal. “Because of this, scientists use models that deal with randomness to study it.” “While changes in local and regional rainfall are important for managing water and preparing for floods or droughts, there’s no strong evidence yet of a global trend in rainfall or a worldwide increase in extreme events that can be clearly linked to human-caused climate change,” she added. Mario Loyola, a senior fellow in law, economics, and technology at Heritage, noted that even the National Climate Assessment—a federal government initiative focused on climate science that Loyola faulted as “alarmist”—”dismisses the attribution of any particular severe weather event to climate change.” “For as long as people have kept records, Texas has always had periods of drought punctuated by severe rains and flash floods,” Loyola added. “It is irresponsible to use the tragedy of the Texas floods for political gain.” “It’s sad to see the radical climate movement trying to exploit the tragic Texas flooding to advance its political agenda,” Steve Milloy, a senior policy fellow at the Energy and Environment Legal Institute, told The Daily Signal. “Just for the record, this area of Texas is known for flash floods, extreme rainfall is not correlated with emissions and there hasn’t even been any ‘global warming’ over the past five days,” he quipped. “We should pray for the families and condemn the climate ambulance chasers.” The Camp Mystic Floodplain Anthony Watts, a senior fellow at the Heartland Institute, emphasized the area around Camp Mystic, a Christian all-girls camp at which 27 campers and counselors died after the nearby Guadalupe River flooded. “Camp Mystic is built on a floodplain—therefore flooding is to be expected as part of natural weather variations,” Watts told The Daily Signal. “It is on sediment that has been deposited by hundreds, if not thousands of floods over the last millennium.” “The flood was caused by the remnants of Tropical Storm Barry becoming embedded into a broad mid-level trough over central Texas,” he added. “These remnant lows are typically slow-moving and drop heavy rain over a large geographical area where the troposphere destabilizes.” This “caused massive flooding along the Guadalupe River, something that has happened many times before,” Watts added. He noted that a flash flood on the same river killed 10 teenage campers at the Pot O Gold Christian Camp in 1987 and swept away another 33 campers who survived. “The event has nothing to do with climate change,” he argued. “It’s just weather, and not abnormal.” The post Was Climate Change Responsible For the Texas Floods? appeared first on The Daily Signal.

How to Manage Old Male Dog Incontinence: Essential Tips

At DogingtonPost, we understand the challenges of caring for an aging canine companion. Incontinence in older male dogs can be a distressing issue for both pets and their owners. In this guide, we’ll share essential tips on dealing with old dog incontinence in males, covering everything from understanding the causes to practical management strategies and medical interventions. Why Do Older Male Dogs Become Incontinent? Common Causes of Incontinence in Senior Male Dogs Prostate issues top the list of incontinence causes in older male dogs. An enlarged prostate, often due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), can press on the urethra, making it difficult for dogs to control their bladder. BPH is diagnosed in almost every intact male dog, with a prevalence of 80% in dogs ≥ 6 years and 95% in dogs ≥ 9 years. Urinary tract infections (UTIs) also frequently cause incontinence. A recent study aimed to describe and characterize the prevalence of urinary tract pathogens in urine samples of dogs and cats with UTIs. Neurological conditions, such as intervertebral disc disease or degenerative myelopathy, can lead to incontinence by affecting the nerves that control bladder function. Recognizing the Signs of Incontinence Early symptom detection proves essential for effective management. Watch for: Urine dribbling, especially during sleep or rest Wet spots on bedding or furniture Frequent genital area licking Strong urine odor on your dog Some dogs may also show discomfort or anxiety related to their inability to control urination. The Importance of Prompt Veterinary Care Consult a veterinarian promptly if you notice any of these symptoms. Early detection can lead to more effective treatment and prevent complications such as urinary tract infections or skin irritations. Your vet will likely perform a physical examination, urinalysis, and possibly blood tests or imaging studies to determine the underlying cause of the incontinence. This comprehensive approach ensures the development of the most appropriate treatment plan for your dog’s specific needs. Diagnostic Procedures Veterinarians use various diagnostic tools to pinpoint the cause of incontinence: Urinalysis: This test checks for infections, crystals, or other abnormalities in the urine. Blood tests: These can reveal underlying health issues that might contribute to incontinence. Imaging: X-rays or ultrasounds may help identify structural problems or tumors. Neurological exams: These assess nerve function related to bladder control. Treatment Options Overview Treatment for incontinence in older male dogs varies based on the underlying cause. Options may include: Medications to strengthen bladder muscles Antibiotics for urinary tract infections Hormone therapy for prostate-related issues Surgical interventions for severe cases The next section will explore practical management strategies to help you and your furry friend cope with this challenging condition. How to Manage Your Dog’s Incontinence at Home Protective Gear: Diapers and Belly Bands Dog diapers and belly bands offer effective solutions for managing incontinence. These products catch urine before it soils your home, providing comfort for your dog and peace of mind for you. Belly bands work well for male dogs, wrapping around their midsection to cover the urethra. Choose washable, reusable options for cost-effectiveness and environmental friendliness. Change them frequently to prevent skin irritation and infections. Create a Consistent Bathroom Schedule A regular bathroom routine can significantly reduce accidents. Take your dog out more frequently, especially after meals, naps, and before bedtime. Stick to this schedule as much as possible to help your dog’s body adjust and potentially regain some control over their bladder function. Modify Your Home for Easier Cleaning Adapt your living space to make managing incontinence less stressful. Consider these practical steps: Maintain Proper Hygiene Regular grooming becomes even more important when dealing with incontinence. Urine can irritate your dog’s skin, leading to infections and discomfort. Implement these hygiene practices: Wash your dog’s genital area daily with mild, pet-safe soap and warm water. Keep the fur around the genital area trimmed short to prevent urine from soaking into the coat. Apply a pet-safe moisturizer or barrier cream to prevent urine scald on sensitive skin areas. These strategies can help you effectively manage your older male dog’s incontinence at home. However, these tips should complement, not replace, veterinary care. Regular check-ups and following your vet’s treatment plan remain essential for your dog’s overall health and well-being. In the next section, we’ll explore medical treatments and interventions that can further help manage your dog’s incontinence. Medical Solutions for Canine Incontinence Pharmaceutical Interventions Several medications can effectively manage canine incontinence. Phenylpropanolamine (PPA) strengthens the urethral sphincter to improve bladder control. Studies show that PPA can be effective at controlling unconscious urination in 85.7% of dogs treated with 1 mg/kg PO q8h. For dogs with prostate-related incontinence, veterinarians might prescribe finasteride. This medication shrinks an enlarged prostate, alleviating pressure on the urethra. Improvements typically occur within a few weeks of starting treatment. In cases where hormonal imbalances contribute to incontinence, hormone replacement therapy might be recommended. Diethylstilbestrol (DES), a synthetic estrogen, has shown promise in managing incontinence in spayed females and can sometimes benefit male dogs too. Nutritional Support for Bladder Health Diet plays a significant role in managing incontinence. Increasing moisture content in your dog’s food can help dilute urine, reducing irritation to the bladder and urethra. Consider a switch to wet food or add water to dry kibble. Omega-3 fatty acids (found in fish oil supplements) can help reduce inflammation in the urinary tract. A study published in the Journal of Small Animal Practice found that dogs receiving omega-3 supplements showed improved urinary function compared to those on a standard diet. Some veterinarians recommend cranberry supplements to support urinary tract health. While more research is needed, preliminary studies suggest cranberry extract may help prevent bacterial adhesion in the bladder. Surgical Options for Severe Cases When conservative treatments fail, surgical intervention might become necessary. Collagen injections into the urethra can strengthen the sphincter muscles. A study found that dogs had a significant increase in continence score after the procedure. For dogs with ectopic ureters (a congenital condition where one or both ureters bypass the bladder), surgical correction can dramatically improve continence. Success rates for this procedure range from 70% to 90%, depending on the specific technique used. It’s important to note that surgery is typically a last resort and carries risks. Discuss the potential benefits and drawbacks thoroughly with your veterinarian before proceeding. Alternative Therapies Some dog owners report success with alternative therapies like acupuncture or chiropractic care. While scientific evidence is limited, these approaches may help in cases where nerve function is impaired. Herbal remedies such as corn silk or saw palmetto are sometimes suggested for managing incontinence. However, always consult with your vet before introducing any new supplements, as they can interact with medications or exacerbate certain conditions. Physical therapy, including exercises to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles, might benefit some dogs. Your vet can guide you on appropriate exercises tailored to your dog’s needs. Final Thoughts Managing incontinence in older male dogs demands dedication, patience, and a comprehensive approach. We at DogingtonPost have provided essential tips on dealing with old dog incontinence in males, covering causes, home strategies, and medical interventions. Your veterinarian plays a vital role in developing a tailored management plan that addresses your dog’s specific needs. Consistency in your approach will yield the best results. Maintain the established bathroom schedule, practice proper hygiene, and use protective gear like belly bands diligently. These efforts, combined with appropriate medical treatments and dietary adjustments, can significantly enhance your dog’s quality of life. Regular veterinary check-ups will help monitor your dog’s progress and adjust the treatment plan as needed. We at DogingtonPost remain committed to supporting you through every stage of your dog’s life. Our comprehensive resources offer ongoing guidance for pet parents navigating the challenges of canine aging (including incontinence).
