Iran Ends Cooperation With IAEA

Iran Ends Cooperation With IAEA

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian signed a law Wednesday suspending the country’s cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), ending the UN nuclear watchdog’s access to Iranian nuclear sites. The law is a response to the Israeli and American airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear program, which were intended to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Iran has been stockpiling highly enriched uranium since the 2018 American withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, an Obama-era deal limiting Iran’s nuclear program. This enriched material affords Iran the capacity to quickly “break through” and easily refine weapons-grade material. Nevertheless, U.S. intelligence reports have consistently found that Iran was not in the process of weaponizing their uranium stockpile. Iran on Saturday turned down a request from IAEA director Rafael Grossi to visit Iran’s nuclear sites. “Grossi’s insistence on visiting the bombed sites under the pretext of safeguards is meaningless and possibly even malign in intent,” Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi wrote in a post on X Monday. The suspension puts into question Iran’s compliance with the Non-Proliferation Treaty, which requires that IAEA inspectors have access to signatories’ nuclear programs.  The post Iran Ends Cooperation With IAEA appeared first on The American Conservative.

Riley Gaines Gets the Ultimate Vindication 3 Years Later - Transgender Swimmer Lia Thomas Erased from the Record Book

What is justice? One Merriam-Webster definition cites justice as "conformity to truth, fact, or reason," and if we accept that, then justice has -- finally -- been served in perhaps the original mainstream transgender debacle. The University of Pennsylvania became a lightning rod for controversy in 2022 when its women's...

Trump Wins $16 Million in Paramount Settlement Over Kamala Harris Interview

Paramount Global, the parent company of CBS and 60 Minutes, has agreed to settle with President Donald Trump over a deceptively edited interview with then-presidential candidate Kamala Harris.  Trump filed the civil suit in April, at the time suing for $20 billion. He stated in an April 13 Truth Social post, “I am so honored to be suing 60 Minutes, CBS Fake News, and Paramount, over their fraudulent, beyond recognition, reporting.” A spokesperson for the president stated, “CBS and Paramount Global realized the strength of this historic case and had no choice but to settle,” adding that, “President Trump will always ensure that no one gets away with lying to the American people.” The initial suit alleged that CBS and Paramount aired two substantially different versions of Vice President Kamala Harris’s response to the same question about the Israel-Hamas war — one on Face the Nation, another on 60 Minutes. He sued under consumer protection law in Texas, and asserted that CBS’s editing constituted “false, misleading or deceptive acts in commerce,” misrepresenting the content to viewers. Trump additionally accused CBS of violating the FCC’s rule against news distortion (47 U.S.C. § 309(a)) by altering a significant interview during an election cycle. Trump’s civil complaint states, “To paper over Kamala’s ‘word salad’ weakness, CBS used its national platform on 60 Minutes to cross the line from the exercise of judgment in reporting to deceitful, deceptive manipulation of news.” Trump’s lawyers also stated that “Millions of Americans, including residents of Texas and this District, were confused and misled by the two doctored Interview versions.” The $16 million settlement represents a victory in Trump’s long litigation history with the media. Since 2015, he has sued the Washington Post, CNN, Univision, and the New York Times. The settlement money will not go to Trump directly, but to his presidential library. Paramount noted that the settlement would not contain any apology or admission of wrongdoing. The chief executive of CBS News, Wendy McMahon, opposed settling the suit. Former Pfizer Executive Subpoenaed by House Judiciary Committee

Dr. Philip Dormitzer, former global head of vaccine research and development at Pfizer, has been subpoenaed by the House Judiciary Committee as it investigates Pfizer’s alleged delay in the release of COVID vaccine information. It is alleged that senior officials at Pfizer withheld positive trials concerning the COVID vaccine for political purposes, only releasing it after Joe Biden had been elected. Dormitzer worked for GSK, a global pharmaceutical company, after his career with Pfizer. The committee discovered that Dormitzer allegedly admitted to Pfizer’s dishonest practices relating to the timing of vaccine testing by way of a Wall Street Journal article published in March. According to the article, Dormitzer alleged that, in order to affect the election results, Pfizer delayed its announcement of positive test results of the COVID vaccine. By slowing down the testing process, positive results were allegedly withheld from the public so that credit would be redirected from President Trump for the vaccine’s success.   GSK alleges that in a meeting to discuss his relocation, Dormitzer requested that he be moved to Canada. Dormitzer, according to GSK officials, appeared fearful that the Trump administration would investigate him for his involvement in Pfizer’s development of the COVID-19 vaccine. After receiving this information, the committee reached out to GSK, which doubled down on its initial claims. Reportedly, Dormitzer said that the timing of the vaccine was not a coincidence, and that “‘the three most senior people in Pfizer R&D were involved in a decision to deliberately slow down clinical testing’” to influence the outcome of the 2020 election. After compounding these claims with other evidence, the Judiciary Committee sent a letter to Dormitzer on March 15, requesting specific documentation pertaining to Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine work alongside a transcribed interview. Dormitzer has since denied GSK’s allegations against him. Additionally, the scientist failed to comply with the committee’s request for documentation and an interview transcription. His decision to deny their initial request prompted the committee to issue a subpoena on June 30 claiming that Dormitzer’s participation is key to the investigation. According to the subpoena, Dormitzer’s attorney, Susan Brune, answered the committee’s initial request on May 29. Brune informed the committee that Dormitzer would not participate in an interview and failed to produce the requested documents. Any further information that the committee was seeking, Brune posited, could be gathered from Pfizer. The committee has said it is unwilling to accept Dormitzer’s refusal to testify. In the letter included with the subpoena notice, Chairman Jim Jordan wrote, “Based off the information we have obtained to date, the Committee believes [Dormitzer’s] testimony is critical… the Committee’s request to Pfizer is separate and unique from the Committee’s request to [Dormtizer].” Jordan went on to explain the severity of accusations against Dormitzer and other senior officials at Pfizer. Due to the potential impact of the alleged actions on the 2020 election, the accusations justify “substantial federal interest and [require] additional inquiry,” said Jordan, which could “in turn inform potential legislative reform.” Despite Dormitzer and Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla’s claim that the timing of the COVID-19 vaccine testing and results were above board, the House Judiciary Committee presses on with its investigation. Now that he has been subpoenaed by the committee, Dormitzer can no longer dodge testifying before the committee in person. According to the subpoena, Dormitzer will appear for a deposition at 10 a.m. on July 22.  The post %POSTLINK% appeared first on %BLOGLINK%.
