Brantley Gilbert Says He & His Buddies Are All Getting Vasectomies Together: “We Hired A Nurse & Everything”
Just guys being dudes.
Country rocker Brantley Gilbert is certainly cut from his own piece of cloth. You'd be hard pressed to find another guy in the industry that is more country than Gilbert, and if you need evidence of that, look no further than the fact that he and his wife Amber welcomed their third child into the world on a tour bus.
Doesn't get more country than that.
That happened back in October, and the "Small Town Throwdown" singer has elaborated on how it exactly it went down a handful of times. Gilbert most recently talked about the unique birth while he was a guest on Bert Kreischer's Something's Burning cooking show (yes, comedian Bert Kreischer has a cooking show).
The topic of kids came up, and the country singer did a bit of a role call:
"My oldest (boy) is seven, and my little girl is five. And then little man is about to be eight weeks. That sh*t was wild man. We were on tour, we were on the bus. She had that baby on the bus. I swear to God, in the middle of the show. We were playing a show in Tupelo, Mississippi.
She wanted a home birth, she's into all this crunchy sh*t, and we found out it might come a little sooner than we wanted and I didn't want to miss the birth of my child. I was super terrified of that. So I was kinda joking... I said 'want don't you just climb on the bus and if it happens out there.' And of course, she went with it."
Kreischer and the show's other guest, comedian John Crist, evidently had not heard the wild story of Brantley Gilbert having a baby not only while he was out on tour... but while he was out on stage.
The two comedians were blown away by the revelation they had somehow missed in the news cycle, and implored for the country music artist to share more about it. So Gilbert explained how everything went down, and how he and his wife viewed it as the best of both worlds:
"She kind of wanted a home birth. We found out that it may come a little sooner than we wanted. I didn't want to miss the birth of my child. I was super terrified about that. So jokingly, I was like, 'Well, we got a best of both worlds. Why don't you just climb on the bus and if it happens out there (it happens).' And she went with it."
And in case you are like Kreischer and Crist and didn't hear about the wild story, the country star talks more about it in the interview. This was the moment when he returned back on stage after a 45 minute break to tell the Mississippi audience he had just become a father of three:
@jenniferminor89 @Brantley Gilbert’s heartwarming baby announcement upon returning to the stage after security rushed him off stage about an hour before so he could be by his wife’s side in the tour bus when their son was born. Pretty crazy stuff, right? Well the other piece of information that Gilbert dropped on the Something's Burning show was just as absurd.
Just before some of the tour-bus-birth conversation started Brantley had told John and Bert about a "vasectomy pact" that the country star had with some of his friends. I mean, nothing screams, "Guy's trip" like heading to the doctor to get the snip-snip. Gilbert went on to talk about the group snip idea when Bert mentioned frozen peas (part of Matthew McConaughey's tuna salad recipe):
"Froze peas, I'm about to have a bunch of them, boy we having a Testicle Festival December 11th... I'm getting clipped. I'm taking several of my buddies, we're doing it together, you know what I mean? I wanted moral support.
We hired a nurse and everything, it was really easy. They aren't gonna cut our nuts at the house, but after we're gonna recover at the house. It was not hard at all to find a nurse, she didn't have to be hot, it would be kind of pointless for her to be hot."
John followed up saying he never heard of that:
"That's why him and his buddies are getting clipped up at the same time... I've never heard of that."
Yeah... doctor's offices aren't exactly advertising group vasectomy deals. Brantley Gilbert said:
"I don't think the doctor had either. He was like, 'Y'all want to come together?' And I said, 'Yes sir.'"
Maybe Brantley Gilbert will start a trend? I'd guess probably not, but you never know.
You can hear more from Gilbert on the group activity he and his friends have planned in the video below. Guess Gilbert won't have to worry about any more tour bus births:
