Senate Passes Bipartisan Housing Package as SAVE Act Pressure Builds

The Senate voted to pass a massive housing legislation package on Thursday, even as the White House has called for the SAVE America Act to be a top legislative priority. Passing with rare bipartisan support, the package of housing bills aims to lower housing costs and codify multiple of President Donald Trump’s executive orders.   “This bill offers real solutions that will unlock new home construction, drive down prices, and increase the supply of affordable homes,” Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., said on the Senate floor earlier this week. Thune announced on the Senate floor Thursday that there will be a vote on the SAVE America Act next week. The package, titled the Housing for the 21st Century Act, passed Thursday afternoon by a vote of 89-10 with one Democrat and nine Republicans opposing.  The legislation would work to remove regulations that advocacy groups say in sum account for roughly 25% of building costs. The legislation would also work to streamline the building process to make home purchases more realistic and affordable. Housing BillDownload The 10 who voted against the package included one Democrat, Sen. Brian Schatz of Hawaii, and nine Republicans: Sens. Ted Budd of North Carolina; Thom Tillis of North Carolina; Ted Cruz of Texas; Ron Johnson of Wisconsin; Mike Lee of Utah; Rand Paul of Kentucky; Rick Scott of Florida; Tommy Tuberville of Alabama; and Todd Young of Indiana. Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., did not vote. In an election year, both parties have prioritized affordability, especially housing affordability, in their messaging. The Senate-passed package moves to the House and includes 18 bills already passed in the lower chamber’s original package. Rep. Andy Harris, R-Md., told Politico this week that the chamber will address housing affordability issues, but added it is “not going to be the way the Senate is going to send it over to the House.”   The package includes legislation codifying Trump’s executive order banning large institutional investors from buying up single-family homes, as well as protecting personal privacy by blocking the development of a central bank digital currency.  What works in Washington may not work in Greenwood, South Carolina. The 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act cuts red tape, increases housing supply, and lowers costs so more people can achieve their version of the American Dream. pic.twitter.com/O8iWg3rwpR— Senator Tim Scott (@SenatorTimScott) March 12, 2026 Even though Trump said he would not sign anything Congress sends him until they pass the SAVE America Act, the Executive Office of the President put out a statement of policy support on March 2.   “The Administration strongly supports passage of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act,” the letter said. “If the Senate Amendment to H.R. 6644 were presented to the President in its current form, his advisors would recommend that he sign it into law,” it concluded.   The post Senate Passes Bipartisan Housing Package as SAVE Act Pressure Builds appeared first on The Daily Signal.

Inside CSWF: Pro-Family Conference Offers Alternative to UN’s Women’s Agenda

The 70th session of the United Nations’ Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) opened in New York on March 9. However, a parallel event, the Conference on the State of Women and Family (CSWF) is being hosted this week by a coalition of pro-family organizations urging a return to the fundamentals the UN commission seems to have forgotten.    What is CSWF?  CSWF was founded by pro-family non-governmental organizations seeking to change the culture of the Commission on the Status of Women. They’re advocating a shift to a focus on marriage, family, children, the unborn, and faith.  Grace Melton, senior associate for international social issues at The Heritage Foundation’s Richard and Helen DeVos Center for Human Flourishing, told The Daily Signal of her aims for CSWF.  “I would like for attendees who come to the CSWF from CSW to realize that the dominant narratives from CSW—that women need unlimited abortion and sexual rights to achieve gender equality; that “transwomen” are women; that conservatives and people who hold traditional religious beliefs are against women’s rights—are false,” she said.  What is UN Commission on the Status of Women?  The UN Women website states that the priority theme for CSW70 is: “Ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls, including by promoting inclusive and equitable legal systems, eliminating discriminatory laws, policies, and practices, and addressing structural barriers.”  Their Political Declaration is an annual document in which CSW member states detail their shared commitments.  In 2025, the United States informed the UN that it was withdrawing from CSW membership. In its statement, the U.S. said that while the Trump administration appreciated the declaration’s focus on protecting human rights and preventing violence against women and girls, the lack of “precise terminology” prompted the decision.   The administration said it “will defend women’s rights and protect freedom of conscience by using clear and accurate language and policies that recognize women are biologically female, and men are biologically male.”  Gender Ideology Panel  This year’s CSWF event is a two-day program featuring networking opportunities, expert presentations, and themes centered on pro-life and pro-family issues, in contrast to the UN gathering.  Melton said, “The UN Commission on the Status of Women is organizing itself this year around the theme of access to justice for women and girls. But gender ideology pervades the UN system, and it causes significant harm to women and girls.”  Indeed, the website for CSW70 puts “gender equity” front and center, ahead of women’s rights. Melton served as moderator for the CSFW panel “Gender Ideology: Injustice for Women,” which featured speakers Camille Kiefel, Amie Ichikawa, Paula Scanlan, and “Billboard Chris” Elston.  From left, “Billboard Chris” Elston, Paula Scanlan, Amie Ichikawa, Camille Kiefel, and Grace Melton participate in the CSFW panel titled “Gender Ideology: Injustice for Women.” (Photo: Emma Bacon) Elston is a Canadian activist known for his work against gender-transition medical interventions for minors. He said he works to raise attention to what he considers the “greatest child abuse scandal in the history of modern medicine,” and argued that society does not have “gender identity,” but two sexes.  Scanlan, a former University of Pennsylvania swimmer, shared her experience competing on the same team as Lia Thomas, a male who identifies as female. She said her and her teammates were pressured by the administration to stay silent about their concerns. Officials compared their discomfort with sharing a locker room to segregation in the 1960s.  “We have gotten so far away from protecting the people we are actually supposed to protect in this world,” Scanlan said.  Ichikawa is a formerly incarcerated advocate who described the injustices she witnessed within the prison system. She noted that men were able to transfer into women’s prison if they identified as transgender.   She said, “I saw this as a female human rights crisis from day one.”  Kiefel, a detransitioner, shared her personal experience being drawn into gender-identity ideologies. She described the psychological and physical harms she endured and said, “other women and girls who have been harmed by transition deserve the same,” after reporting about the result of her case against the doctors who assisted in her gender transition.    The post Inside CSWF: Pro-Family Conference Offers Alternative to UN’s Women’s Agenda  appeared first on The Daily Signal.

Florida Passes Voter ID Bill as National SAVE Act Stalls

The Florida Senate passed voter ID legislation Thursday, sending the bill to Gov. Ron DeSantis’ desk, as the SAVE America Act stalls in the U.S. Senate. SB 1334, a bill to strengthen the verification process for voters’ citizenship status, passed the Sunshine State’s Senate 27-12, fulfilling the prediction of Florida Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia earlier Thursday. The bill had passed the Florida House, 83-21, in February. “These new laws will further help protect the ballot box,” Jeremy Redfern, deputy chief of staff to Florida AG James Uthmeier, told The Daily Signal. “We thank the Florida Legislature for being champions of election integrity and look forward to this legislation hitting Governor DeSantis’ desk for his signature.” The bill will require voters to verify their citizenship with a photo identification card and require the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles to note the citizenship status of drivers who receive new identification. Prior to the vote, Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis announced in a social media post that he will sign the bill into law. “Although Florida has already enacted much of what the federal legislation contemplates, this will further fortify our state as the leader in election integrity,” DeSantis wrote on X. The Florida version of the SAVE Act is about to pass the Legislature. Although Florida has already enacted much of what the federal legislation contemplates, this will further fortify our state as the leader in election integrity. https://t.co/Jvj0bKwH8q— Ron DeSantis (@RonDeSantis) March 12, 2026 Republican State Rep. David Borrero told The Daily Signal that he refers to SB 1334 as the “SAVE Act,” like the national legislation, “because it helps save our democratic elections.” “Requiring proof of citizenship ensures that voters are actually eligible to vote. Our system cannot be hijacked by non-citizens,” Borrero added. Borrero attacked the 31 Democrats who voted against the bill in the state House. “Clearly, it’s because they want illegals to vote in our elections,” he charged. “They are very weak on illegal immigrants; they incentivize it.” The legislation, if signed into law, will take effect in January 2027. Both Borrero and Ingoglia said there is no excuse for Republicans in the federal government to fail to pass voter ID when Florida passed the bill so efficiently. “I agree with this 110%,” Borrero said. “Our entire U.S. Constitution relies on a system where only citizens vote. We cannot allow foreign nationals to hijack that system. This bill is needed to combat illegal voting all across the country, especially in states like California and New Jersey.” Borrero added that the bill is “so commonsense, that it wasn’t necessary before. But since the Left is so radicalized, we need to implement this now.” During his press conference, Ingoglia issued similar remarks, adding that there is “zero reason” for a Republican-controlled Congress to be unable to pass “a very much needed piece of legislation.” The SAVE America Act, which has been championed by President Donald Trump and passed by the U.S. House of Representatives three times since 2024, continues to stall in the Senate, allegedly over bipartisan opposition. Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., has promised to bring the bill to a vote in the Senate next week, but a source familiar with the matter previously told The Daily Signal the vote will be considered a “show vote.” “I can confirm, it looks like Thune is planning to bring it to a vote next week as a show vote,” the source said. “Despite outrage from GOP voters and the specific request of the president, he is not planning on pursuing a standing filibuster or any other method to actually pass the bill.” A standing filibuster would bypass the 60-vote threshold needed to pass legislation and allow the legislation to pass with just 50 votes. There are currently 53 Republicans in the Senate. The Daily Signal reached out to Florida state Senate Democratic Leader Lori Berman and U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., for comment, but neither responded by publication time. The post Florida Passes Voter ID Bill as National SAVE Act Stalls appeared first on The Daily Signal.

A MAGA Split Over Iran? What MAGA Split?

Editor’s note: This is a lightly edited transcript of today’s video from Daily Signal Senior Contributor Victor Davis Hanson. Subscribe to our YouTube channel to see more of his videos. Hello, this is Victor Davis Hanson for The Daily Signal. There’s a lot of talk about a Make America Great split among Trump supporters, and this originated here in context with the Iranian war. I’m speaking on a Monday, the 10th day of the war. And there’s talk in the air that the MAGA base may desert Donald Trump because, after all, MAGA’s credo was no optional wars in the Middle East. That came out of a disgust with the 20-year misadventure in Afghanistan and the skedaddle from Kabul that left billions of dollars of weapons, and, of course, the 8,000-plus dead and more casualties in the Iraq and Afghanistan war. But this is different. This war is only conducted by air, and there’s certain characteristics of it that we haven’t seen before. It’s a top-down war. We are targeting the leaders, not the military rank and file. We have been taking out, along with the Israelis, 50, 60, a hundred scientists, generals, mullahs, political leaders to decapitate, not try to organically destroy the entire Iranian military. Second, they were all part of negotiations. We were negotiating with Iran and gave them a lot of options. Just don’t fund your terrorist proxies. Don’t create a bomb, knock it off. And they didn’t want to do it. It’s just like the prior Iran strike last year where we gave them another option. It’s very different. You can’t really change a regime, we’re told, if you don’t have ground troops. But maybe there’s something different about the modern age with the sophisticated satellite imagery and reconnaissance, that you know where individual people are by their GPS footprint, by their cell phone communications. And then you couple that with these highly sophisticated missiles and drones where you can actually take something through a window and dispatch somebody at a meeting. We’ve never quite seen that before. So you don’t really need a sniper to take out a toxic Hitlerian type of leader. The other thing is that Donald Trump pretty much knows there’s three alternatives that we’ve talked about before. And none of them really require ground troops. The most desirable obviously would be to get an interim government, maybe former dissidents, get expatriates back, depose the mullahs so that there are—or people in the army, depose them, and then you have elections. That would be wonderful, with the problem solved. Or you could find somebody within the apparatus, the theocracy that was a dissident and felt that he had military backing, and he would, you know, pick the Venezuela solution. Sort of what we see in Venezuela. We’re not going to nation-build. The worst scenario is not all that bad. We say stew in your own juice. You know, we mow the lawn and we can do it anytime we want. We can come back in and destroy your new navy, your new missiles as long as we have a president, post-Trump, who’s willing to do that and ensure that they don’t become nuclear again, or they don’t build another missile fleet. And that’s reflected, getting back to my original point, in the MAGA so-called dissidents. If you look at polls, and there were some released by CNN, Donald Trump has 87% support among Republicans. That is much higher than Joe Biden had among Democrats or even Barack Obama had among Democrats. And when you look at the MAGA base, the people who identify themselves as Trump Conservatives or Trump MAGA people, the support for the Iran war is over 90%. And now why? How could that be, when they have told us that there’s a widespread civil war among the MAGA people? That’s what the Left is saying. But when you look at the people who are objecting, you know, it’s the Steve Bannon wing, the Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, maybe Megyn Kelly, I don’t know. And they’re saying that this is contrary to the MAGA philosophy of no optional wars. It would be if we insert ground troops, and we’re there for months. I mean, if we end up bombing, as Barack Obama did, in Libya for seven months without congressional authority, one of the last things he did while in office was to bomb Libya, then that would be another matter. But nobody has ever seen a war in which one side destroyed the entire air force of the enemy, the entire navy of the enemy, and has got pretty much 90% of its ballistic missile arsenal nullified and probably 85% of the drones and decapitated the entire command and control of the military. And now is looking at secondary targets where maybe Revolutionary Guard headquarters and regional areas, but there hasn’t really been any American losses of equipment. We’ve had, tragically, seven people killed. But tragically and terribly as that is, in a war of 10 days with being that kinetic, it’s very rare to see such few casualties. I mean, we’re looking at the Ukraine war. There’s been 1,200,000 Russians killed and probably another two million wounded, probably three or 400,000 Ukrainians. So this isn’t comparable to what we’ve seen. And I think the president understands that there is a deadline. And the deadline is going to be met. And the deadline consists of we do not want this war to drag on with the midterms coming up. And he wants to pivot back to the economy. And the people on the MAGA base who are saying that the party is split in two, they don’t really have a constituency, as the polls, I just told you, illustrate. They’re loud, they have audiences, and they make points that, you know, you can consider. But they don’t represent a constituency, at least not yet. On the other side, this sort of, on-to-Cuba, Lindsey Graham wing of the party, I think that after Venezuela, which we didn’t lose anybody. We lost some wounded people that were hurt, but we have a Venezuela solution of a strong person there that will be an improvement over Maduro and might lead to elections. But we’re not going to go on the ground and insist that we’re going to create Carmel, California, in Venezuela. And we have, as I said earlier, three choices and they’re all preferable to what’s there now in Iran, how the war in Iran ends. And so, after that, I think the president will say, I’m going to concentrate on making sure that the Western Hemisphere is free, and it’s not captive to the cartels, and it doesn’t kill Americans. And obviously Cuba might be a concern, but there’s no need now to go into Cuba or to bomb Cuba to do any of that. It’s falling. It’s dying on the vine. And the more pressure we apply, insidiously so, not kinetic or dramatic, it’ll soon, I think, deteriorate to a point where there’ll be a change of government. But that’s something in the future. Right now, I think the MAGA base and the Republicans are sticking with Trump because they don’t see oil prices spiking. They don’t see the economy in danger, and they don’t see the war dragging on for months and months like the Libyan fiasco or the misadventures in Afghanistan and Iraq. What we’re looking at instead, I think, is a spectacular achievement of getting rid of the two worst governments that we were dealing with in Venezuela. And if we don’t get rid of the one in Iran, at least it’s neutered or nullified so it doesn’t have the clout to subsidize terrorists, and it doesn’t have the wherewithal to threaten us or our allies in Europe, in the Middle East. More importantly, the Gulf States are now openly hostile or at war with Iran, and they will not be subsidizing Hamas or Hezbollah or the Houthis, to the same degree they were in the past, and Iran won’t be doing it at all. I think people have absorbed that, and now it’s time, I think, to think of the midterms and if they can, they being the Trump people, can overturn the historical trends that the in party usually loses the first midterm, dramatically loses seats in the House and Senate. And maybe they can avoid that by having good economic news. And with the deregulation, the tax cuts, the energy development, the foreign investment, the interest rates coming down. I think there’s a good chance by June or July, as I’ve said earlier, the economy will be strong and he can point to the foreign policy successes, and that is reflected in the overwhelming support that the recent polls show for the Trump agenda. We publish a variety of perspectives. Nothing written here is to be construed as representing the views of The Daily Signal. The post A MAGA Split Over Iran? What MAGA Split? appeared first on The Daily Signal.

The View’s Underwood: Trump Squandering 2nd Chance After Murder Attempt

Comedian Sheryl Underwood was passing through ABC’s The View this week as she took a break from her “I Need a Job” tour. And given her outrageous and unhinged comments most of the week, she certainly seemed like she was fishing for a job on the show. In a Wednesday appearance on the show’s Behind the Table podcast, Underwood grotesquely suggested President Trump was squandering the second chance at life God gave him after the failed assassination attempt that saw him shot in the head. She also admitted that she’s actually more of a Democrat than the “Republican” she’s pitched as. Amid a conversation with The View executive producer and podcast host Brian Teta about the different kinds of Republicans they’ve had on to fill in, Underwood said that she saw it as important for her to be an anti-Trump voice in the party and equated herself to those who told President Nixon to resign. “If those men had not went to Nixon and said, ‘we're not gonna back you,’ okay, he would have still been in office. You have to give the leaders some guardrails,” she argued. Underwood went on to suggest that Trump hadn’t learned anything from the assassination attempt and had not become a better person, squandering the second chance God gave him: And you would think that if Trump having the situation that he had, wouldn't that touch your heart and make you a better person? God has let you live. Lead better, don't dig into your troublesome side. Let me say that. Don't dig into that, don't dig your heels into that. Become a better leader. You know, and look at the other presidents who may have been doing something crazy. And then they thought, ‘I gotta change. I gotta be a better leader.’ You're the leader of the free world. Live up to that.   Underwood invokes the assassination attempt against President Trump and says he's squandering the second chance God gave him: TETA We've had people on the show that have been big fans of the President. Now you, a longtime Republican, you've been speaking out against what you… pic.twitter.com/nA78WlcaO3 — Nicholas Fondacaro (@NickFondacaro) March 12, 2026   She immediately followed that up by saying Trump had made “comedy more lucrative because he does crazy stuff all the time that we can joke about.” If you’re wondering how a “Republican” could say something like that, well, it’s because Underwood was more a Democrat. She even admitted to it during the podcast: UNDERWOOD: But also, I think with my political point of view, I'm probably really a blue dog Democrat. BRIAN TETA: Okay. UNDERWOOD: Born in the South, grew up in the Midwest. I'm probably a blue dog Democrat, but I'm a registered Republican, and I believe I'm the person that need to be in the Republican Party going, ‘who decided we can do this? We are going to lose. This is the stupidest thing I've ever heard.’   Sheryl Underwood, who The View has as a "Republican" guest host, admits she's more of a Democrat. She also says that Republicans have to become more woke and compares modern wokeness to when Republicans outlawed slavery: UNDERWOOD: But also, I think with my political point of… pic.twitter.com/WN0lVYCIgQ — Nicholas Fondacaro (@NickFondacaro) March 12, 2026   She went on to demand that the party become more “woke,” and equate modern wokeness to when Republicans outlawed slavery: But there used to be a time, I'm like an Arthur Fletcher, he's the father of affirmative action. He's the one that brought affirmative action to Nixon. I'm like a Senator Edward Brooks. I'm like a, you know, Dr. King. I'm like when Republicanism was different. When you hear people say, ‘oh, don't be woke.’ Well, the Republican Party was woke, when it battled against slavery, it was woke when it championed women's rights. That's when we were woke in a good way. Further along in the podcast, Underwood seemed to allude to allegations that she had misrepresented her military service earlier in the week when using it as a cudgel to denounce the strike on Iran. The allegations pointed to inconsistencies with her claims that she took part in the First Gulf War, but the Department of War webpage highlighting her service made no mention of it. In her defense of herself, Underwood argued that one didn’t need to be deployed in theater to take part in an operation: UNDERWOOD: And for people that say, ‘well, she didn't do this, she do that.’ One thing I want people to know, it's a name of something. Because what's this thing that they - what did they name it now? Hegseth, what did they call it? Something Epic Fury. TETA: Epic Fury. Operation: Epic Fury. UNDERWOOD: Okay, when it's called Operation This, This, it doesn't mean you go to that location. It means you're under that thing, right? So, for me being under that thing.   Seemingly addressing allegations that she misrepresented her military record on The View, claiming she took part in the First Gulf War despite a lack of evidence and she was out by the time the war started, Underwood pushes back: UNDERWOOD: And for people that say, ‘well, she… pic.twitter.com/cQwazohEgj — Nicholas Fondacaro (@NickFondacaro) March 12, 2026   True. But again, the only operations the DoW webpage (published in 2022) noted she took part in were “in support of several exercises that included two Exercise Reforgers [sic] in West Germany and Team Spirit in South Korea.” There was nothing that even suggested she was aiding the First Gulf War from back home or elsewhere. TETA: - but there's nuance to all this. UNDERWOOD: Absolutely. TETA: We've had all these Republican guest hosts while Alyssa’s out on maternity leave. And the reaction from the audience has been so different because, you know, they’re used to Alyssa, who feels a certain way about the President. We've had people on the show that have been big fans of the President. Now you, a longtime Republican, you've been speaking out against what you think are mistakes that they're going on right now. UNDERWOOD: Absolutely, he should be - I - I - Listen. I - Once you become the president, then I will back your play. But I think we have a right as Americans to say to our leaders, ‘you're wrong. And I can't wait to get to the ballot box to tell you you're wrong. I have to tell you you're wrong now.’ If those men had not went to Nixon and said, ‘we're not gonna back you,’ okay, he would have still been in office. You have to give the leaders some guardrails. Live up to that. TETA: Judd Apatow recently said that Trump has made comedy harder because things feel so serious now. What's your take on this? Is the political climate changed comedy for you at all or the way you approach it? UNDERWOOD: No, I think I think really, we're talking about specifically President Trump? TETA: I think that he was, yes. UNDERWOOD: I think he made comedy more lucrative because he does crazy stuff all the time that we can joke about. (…) 11:38 TETA: You’ve been great this week is you've been able to share your perspective on what's happening in Iran, and it was interesting to hear from you because you served. UNDERWOOD: Yes. TETAL You were in the Air Force Reserve. UNDERWOOD: Yes. TETA: How has service shaped the way you look at something like this? UNDERWOOD: You know, I saw pictures of my dad and his brothers in their Army uniform. My mother married a man who was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska. And that's how we got to Castle Air Force Base. And then I went into the Reserve. I met my husband, he was active duty. And I went into the Reserve a little bit after that. He proposed a Maxwell Air Force Base. I went in at Travis Air Force Base. And for people that say, ‘well, she didn't do this, she do that.’ One thing I want people to know, it's a name of something. I always wanted to serve my country. And that's also where I found that I could entertain. I went in thinking if I wanted to be part of MWR, as morale, welfare and recreation. Morale, welfare, recreation. And I thought I would be able to transfer from a medic to doing that. What I learned is the troops need us. They need to get mail. They need to get good thoughts from us. They may not agree with the mission, but they put their hand up to uphold the Constitution. So, for me, what I loved about being of service in the various ways that I served, it shapes your life. 'Cause you meet people from other places, and you have to depend on somebody you don't know, or don't agree with how they believe, but you got to come together for everybody to come home. (…)

In the early moments after Thursday’s attack on the massive Temple Israel complex in West Bloomfield Township, Michigan, far-left CNN senior national security analyst Juliette Kayyeem and NBC correspondent Kelly O’Donnell made sure we didn’t lose sight of another group of victims in this moment of increased violence against people of faith: Muslims. Yes, dear readers, they did the infamous Norm MacDonald tweet. Kayyem weighed in just after 1:45 p.m. Eastern that “people that I talked to right now who are in the state and local world are worried about two things” with one being “attacks against the Jewish community” and the other being “attacks against Iranian Americans.” Click the tweet to both watch this scalding hot take and see her full comments in context: WATCH: CNN’s Juliette Kayyem seems to blame President Trump waging war on Iran for inciting violence against Jews, including now at a synagogue in Michigan, AND warns of “attacks against Iranian Americans”... “[The sheriff] said specifically in the last two weeks, he has been in… pic.twitter.com/QgrnviU4AO — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) March 12, 2026 Unless she meant to cite Arabs in context of, say, pro-Iranian regime sleeper cells attacking pro-democracy Iranian Americans, we have a classic case of both-sidesism (like her from Elissa Slotkin — one of Michigan’s Democrat senators — condemning anti-Semitism and hate writ large). Kayyem, a frequent flier here at NewsBusters, offered low-grade analysis on one major story after another last year. When it came to the anti-ICE shooter opening fire on a Dallas, Texas facility, Kayeem argued they couldn’t have been a leftist despite having “anti-ICE” emblazoned on a gun shell. Downplaying inconvenient narratives are her forte. In the aftermath of the Charlie Kirk assassination, she repeatedly dismissed the idea suspect Tyler Robinson was on the left. A month earlier, she did the same in batting away the reality that a Minneapolis Catholic Church was attacked by a trans teen ravaged with hate for Catholicism. Kayyem also ripped those labeling the New Orleans attack as ISIS-inspired terrorism, downplayed the role of anti-Semitism in the Capital Jewish Museum shooting, and minimized the role of anti-Semitism in the flamethrowing incident in Colorado. Shifting to the NBC News Special Report, longtime correspondent Kelly O’Donnell asked viewers to consider the fact that Jewish Michiganders also live in “coexistence” with “one of the largest communities inside the United States of Arab-American communities” (click “expand”): OF COURSE: NBC’s Kelly O’Donnell makes sure viewers know the “sensitivity” of an attack on a Detroit-area Jewish synagogue, school, and JCC because the area contains a “coexistence” between the “prominent Jewish community” and “one of the largest communities inside the United… pic.twitter.com/HFUKrlcrv9 — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) March 12, 2026 As we’ve all been watching this, you can see in the pictures coming from the scene, the enormous law enforcement presence there. That is an indication — a measure of how sensitive these matters are. Of course, in other communities around the country, we’ve already seen an elevation of security around, especially religious sites and especially those in the Jewish community. This particular location is home to a community of 3,000 Jewish families. As you pointed out, there is a school, there is childcare on the site, and it is a hub of the community, as it’s been described by those who live there. And so, because of the wider context of the war with Iran, and also, of course, remember, Detroit is always sensitive to these issues because not only is there a prominent Jewish community, but it’s one of the largest communities inside the United States of Arab-American communities of various nationalities. And so, there is a coexistence that exists in Michigan that is particularly attuned to these issues.  And so, what we have seen is the FBI director has already put out that his resources are going to support those here in Michigan. The — of course, there is a field office in Detroit, and any additional things they need are in place. In addition, we’ve seen how Governor Gretchen Whitmer has called this heartbreaking. It is a measure of the sensitivity of the moment. As we are still learning details here. We know that historically, there have been a number of deadly attacks associated with Jewish communities, synagogues, related museums and so forth here in the Washington, D.C. area. And so because of that, there is a heightened sense of not only ongoing daily security. And in this instance, we understand that it was the security on the property that engaged that person who was driving a truck toward them. That was the first line of defense. Those kinds of defenses are being hardened in many communities around the country as a standard precaution. That is a posture they take regularly, and then they heighten it in the climate that we’re in right now, with the U.S. engaged in Iran, with heated rhetoric, with threats, and as simply to be cautious. And so as this unfolds, we’ll learn more details. But they’re clearly federal resources here, community-based resources and a lot of worry in that neighborhood. Weekday afternoon MS NOW host Katy Tur went down the same path as Kayyem in the 2:00 p.m. Eastern hour: “So, there was an incident at a [Mormon] church recently as well...And there have been incidents within the Muslim community also in Michigan. It seems like anybody of faith right now is a little bit more nervous about practicing their faith as much as they, you know, wish that were not the case.” Shamefully, MS NOW had another tactic of blaming the Trump administration. MS NOW contributor Michael Feinberg uses the attack on Temple Israel in Michigan to blame the Trump administration for “deprioritiz[ing] traditional national security” “[I]t’s going to have to be a full national security investigation. And unfortunately, this is coming at a… pic.twitter.com/7Z5u0Bhflx — Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) March 12, 2026 To see the relevant transcripts from March 12, click here (for CNN), here (for MS NOW), and here (for NBC).

NYC Mayor Has Hamas Sympathizer Mahmoud Khalil To Dinner, Big 3 Network Newscasts Ignore

Suppose the Mayor of the largest city in the United States had invited an anti-Black or anti-LGBT activist, who had led protests on college campuses where the targets of those protests were harassed, prevented from attending class, and in some cases faced violence, to dinner at his home. You can imagine that the media would be on top of that story 24/7. But in the case of New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani's Sunday meal at Gracie Mansion with Mahmoud  Khalil, who was facing deportation by the Trump administration, which labeled him a Hamas supporter, the media mostly ignored it. For Mahmoud Khalil, this past year has been marked by profound hardship—and by profound courage. A year ago, Mahmoud was walking home through our city after sharing an iftar with his wife Noor when he was detained by federal agents, flown to Louisiana, and then held in an ICE… pic.twitter.com/6dBtLh0GeT — Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani (@NYCMayor) March 10, 2026 Monday evening Mamdani posted a picture of his weekend sit-down with the anti-Israel Khalil, which occurred one day after two ISIS inspired attackers hurled explosive devices during a protest outside of Gracie Mansion, an attack which Mamdani did not originally attribute to radical Islamic terror, and days after he defended his wife for liking several pro October 7th posts. Yet on Tuesday the ABC, CBS, and NBC nightly newscasts skipped the story, along with the PBS News Hour, and Fox News's Special Report.  Fox's Hannity did cover it, as part of a segment with Fox Nation host Tomi Lahren. HANNITY: Mayor Zohran 'Commi, Marxist' Mamdani, he's facing major backlash for hosting Hamas sympathizer Mahmoud Khalil at Gracie Mansion for dinner. Now according to Mamdani, he invited Mahmoud to commemorate the anniversary of his detainment by immigration officials as part of the crackdown on noncitizen students, who helped lead the widespread disruptive campus riots across the country. Why didn't they do that for the people of Iran? I wonder. Anyway, tonight, the question is will the Marxist Mayor of New York invite the heroic NYPD officer who jumped into action to tackle the Gracie Mansion terror suspects this weekend to have dinner at Gracie mansion. Hannity then welcomed in Lahren great question, "Between that, the lying about the police ambush and his wife liking what happened, 70 times after October 7, how does he get away with that?" LAHREN: Well he gets away with it because he told New York City exactly what he was for, exactly what he believed in and they voted for him anyway. When someone tells you who they are, believe them. I mean this man is shameless. He does not care, and the fact that we have this dinner, right, this is a day after those two teen terrorists, these ISIS-inspired terrorists try to blow New Yorkers up, outside of Gracie Mansion, then you flash forward a day and he's inviting Mahmoud Khalil who lead anti-Jewish protests, anti-Israel protests, terrorizing Jewish students for months with these protests, invites him to dinner and posts a photo of it. As for the networks, ABC's World News Tonight with David Muir did find time for dolphins spotted in NYC waters and an owl in a New York store. MUIR: Tonight in New York City, the dolphins in the East River. Pods of dolphins spotted splashing around the river. The dolphins putting on quite a show not far from Randalls Island The sighting happening on the first 70-degree day in New York City since October. We are just as excited. In upstate New York tonight, quite a find at one antique store, look closely here. On left, a cookie jar shaped like a chicken. On the right, well that's a real owl, snuggled up, taking a nap at this shop in East Durham. Store employees telling us they called in an environmental officer who gently cradled the sleepy owl, releasing it back in the woods. That's quite something. NBC Nightly News with Tom Llamas also covered the dolphins, but did not report on the latest on the suspect in the shooting at the home of Rihanna, a story which ABC and CBS covered extensively.  Yes, the liberal media has its priorities, and protecting Mayor Mamdani seems to be one of them.

Liberals spew hatred at actress Katherine Heigl over charity event at Mar-a-Lago — and she fires right back

Hollywood actress Katherine Heigl has lashed out at online trolls who lambasted her for merely attending a charity event at the president's Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida.Heigl went to her first red carpet event in two years to attend the Wine, Women & Shoes annual fundraiser on Sunday but was immediately criticized by many on the left.'F**k her and anyone attending maga-lago for any reason.'Many accused Heigl of supporting President Donald Trump since his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, was a co-chair of the event."I’ll give you this: All of you people who had weirdly intense, knee-jerk hatreds of Katherine Heigl 20 years ago were right," progressive activist Jonathan Cohn responded."OMFG Katherine Heigl is a C**t. Who knew!!!" author Lorraine Evanoff replied."If you're not appalled by pedo Trump, then you're complicit. Don't hide behind the dogs," one user said on the X platform."Supporting Nazis. So many orgs that aren't run by white supremacists. This is a choice," another detractor said."F**k her and anyone attending maga-lago for any reason," another response reads. The actress fired back at her critics in a statement to Variety."Animals don't vote," she wrote. "The only room they don't like is the euthanasia room at a shelter. They are completely at the mercy of us, and they have no voice of their own."She went on to say that animal advocacy is a deeply personal issue for her."Anyone who knows me knows that protecting animals is one of my greatest passions," Heigl continued. "My mother, Nancy, and I have spent years advocating for animals through the Jason Heigl Foundation. As a society, we should all come together to protect the voiceless and the innocent. This should not be a polarizing issue."She also personally responded to many comments on social media.RELATED: Liberals blame homophobia for man on video tossing brick at gay club in NYC. Gene Simmons' advice for celeb activists Ben Stiller, Mark Ruffalo: 'Shut the f**k up'

Musician Gene Simmons minced no words when asked about Hollywood's opinions on current political matters.During a street interview in Beverly Hills on Tuesday, the KISS co-founder was asked about how other celebrities have commented on the recent American bombings in Iran.'Nobody's interested in your opinions.'Specifically, a reporter from TMZ asked Simmons about Ben Stiller and others criticizing President Trump "over this war thing."Tongue lashingFrom the jump, Simmons was ready to let everyone know what he thinks."Yeah. Because everybody in the world should listen what actors and comedians say because they're so qualified," the rock star said sarcastically. "Basically, shut the f**k up," he firmly stated. "Do your art, and shut up. Nobody's interested in your opinions. That includes me, who I vote for, [and] who I like."Simmons, now 76, then posed a simple question to celebrities:"Who the f**k do you think you are?"RELATED: KISS frontman Gene Simmons takes on Tim Tebow critics who attack player's faith Ruffalo rebuffedThe musician may have put some thought into the topic beforehand, showing that even after 50 years as a platinum-selling artist, he still seemingly has his feet on the ground."People in America work hard for their living, and they don't want to be lectured to by people who live in mansions and drive Rolls-Royces. It's time for everybody in the entertainment industry to shut their piehole and just do your art. Nobody cares what you think. I don't," he added.Simmons, real name Chaim Witz, then targeted actor Mark Ruffalo — who is rather outspoken about his left-wing politics — and gave another sarcastic rebuff."What will Mark Ruffalo ... what does Mark think about politics? I don't care," he confirmed, telling the reporter that celebrities should likely stay out of politics, or instead, one should "go to Kylie Jenner and ask her what she thinks of the war so far."RELATED: Fox News permanently bans Kiss frontman Gene Simmons for crude behavior, report says Photo by Alex Kent/Getty Images Pot, meet kettle?Simmons has made public statements that could be considered political, however. For example, he chimed in during the COVID-19 era and said, "If you're willing to walk among us unvaccinated, you are an enemy," telling listeners of the Rock N Roll Channel to "stay away from evil people who don't care about your health."KISS released it's first studio album in 1974, releasing an album near-annually until 1992. The band's time wound down with albums in 1997, 1998, 2009, and 2012.According to the RIAA, KISS has sold more than 25 million album copies and has the most gold-certified records (30) of any group ever.Like Blaze News?
