Hakeem Jeffries Accuses Trump Of Same Thing He Tried To Do When Biden Was In Office

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries — who shepherded legislation to effectively federalize U.S. elections during the presidency of Joe Biden — claimed that President Donald Trump wants to “nationalize” the midterms. Trump said during a Monday appearance on “The Dan Bongino Show” that federal Republicans need to take control over elections in blue states to […]

George Floyd’s Attorney Calls to Amend the Civil Rights Act

Democrats in Congress and George Floyd’s lawyer are calling for a change to federal law. They wish to amend the Civil Rights Act to allow citizens to more easily sue federal immigration officers. Since the Immigration and Customs Enforcement protests in Minneapolis and the deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, Democrats have called for ICE to be fully defunded. The agency under the Department of Homeland Security is funded through Feb. 13 and has funding for deportation operations through 2028. However, at an unofficial, bicameral, partisan hearing on Tuesday, Antonio Romanucci, George Floyd’s former attorney now representing Good, called for ICE to be stripped of its qualified immunity, leaving agents vulnerable to frivolous civil lawsuits and possibly preventing them from conducting their deportation assignments. Immigration officers are federal agents and are granted federal immunity to conduct their operations.  “Anybody who lays a hand on our officers or tries to obstruct or harm them is committing a felony and a federal crime,” DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told the Daily Signal.  The hearing was led by Ranking Member of the permanent subcommittee on investigations, Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., and Ranking Member of the House Oversight Committee Rep. Robert Garcia, D-Calif. LIVE: Americans speak out about DHS & ICE’s violent use of force. As they testify at my spotlight forum with @RepRobertGarcia, we must heed their voices & take courage from their bravery. It is an urgent call to action. https://t.co/g9CMhyTWs9— Richard Blumenthal (@SenBlumenthal) February 3, 2026 During the hearing Democrat members of Congress echoed these calls to amend the Civil Rights Act and for the entire DHS to “completely overhaul, rebuild from the bottom up and house clean from the top down,” said Blumenthal. “ICE and [Customs and Border Patrol] are making our neighborhoods less safe,” Blumenthal continued.   “My guess is when you take criminals off the street, the streets become safer,” Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., told The Daily Signal in response to the unofficial hearing. Johnson said the only places that could now be more dangerous are the “cities and states that don’t cooperate with ICE, that don’t keep criminals that they’ve apprehended and jailed in jail, detained. But they release them [back] into their communities to create more mayhem.”  “Blumenthal is not exactly a beacon of truth,” McLaughlin told The Daily Signal, referring to the lies he told during his 2010 congressional campaign. Blumenthal told press he served in Vietnam when in fact he never left U.S. soil during his service during the war.    Tricia McLaughlin blasts politicians for endangering law enforcement by demonizing DHS officers enforcing the law:“This is a law enforcement agency. DHS officials risk their lives every single day to enforce the law that’s been on the books by Congress. This is getting out of… pic.twitter.com/ptX3JnTbq2— Sean Hannity ?? (@seanhannity) February 4, 2026 “Politicians are laying blame at the feet of law enforcement instead of looking in the mirror at how they have fueled the hatred and violent attacks we are seeing against federal law enforcement officers,” McLaughlin continued.   “We have seen a highly coordinated campaign of violence against our law enforcement,” she stated. “Our officers are facing a 1,300% increase in assaults against them, 3,200% increase in vehicular attacks, and 8,000% increase in deaths threats.”   House and Senate Dems just met, large presser happening now with Jeffries, Schumer, Murray, Clark, DeLauro, Peters, Aguilar, Thompson, Murphy Jeffries lists DHS demands:Mandatory body cams, judicial warrants, no masks, no deporting/detaining US citizens pic.twitter.com/mv5pfL1h7q— Max Cohen (@maxpcohen) February 4, 2026 Romanucci is working to amend the Civil Rights Act to allow citizens to sue federal government officials if their constitutional rights have been infringed. The specific section is U.S. Code 42 of section 1983 of the Civil Rights Act of 1871.  “We will not have done our job if there is not legislative change, because transparency is truth,” said Romanucci. “We can’t get to it unless these people can have the right to sue federal law enforcement officers in the same way that the estate of George Floyd was able to sue the police officers who murdered him.”  “Department of Homeland Security, Custom Border Protection, ICE are engaged in legal law enforcement activities, primarily targeting the criminals that the Biden administration Democrats allowed in under the open border policy,” Johnson told The Daily Signal. “There’s no requirement for a constitutional change here whatsoever.” The post George Floyd’s Attorney Calls to Amend the Civil Rights Act appeared first on The Daily Signal.

EXCLUSIVE: New Ad Campaign Promotes ‘Open Banking’ Amid Trump Affordability Push

FIRST ON THE DAILY SIGNAL – As President Donald Trump pushes his affordability agenda, a conservative group launched an ad campaign encouraging him to block potential new banking fees and protect consumer data. Save Our States’ new TV ad is part of its “Banks vs. America” campaign. “The banks that went after Trump now want hidden fees on every transaction–making everything more expensive,” the TV ad says.  At issue is Section 1033 of the Dodd-Frank bank regulation law of 2010, widely known as “open banking,” which requires banks to provide consumers with access to their account information through competing financial institutions or third-party apps. Under Section 1033, banks are required to share data with other companies if a customer tells them to use a secure, digital pipeline. This, in theory, would make it easier to switch banks or sign up for a budgeting app. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau did not finalize the open banking rule until October 2024.  Though most conservatives broadly oppose the CFPB, Save Our States and other conservatives have argued that the open banking rule is an exception. Conservatives have argued that major financial institutions have engaged in “debanking,” or canceling the accounts of conservative individuals or organizations. Trump has also heavily criticized large banks for closing accounts based on politics.   “The big banks take advantage of American families, workers, small businesses, and churches,” Trent England, executive director of Save Our States, told The Daily Signal in a statement.  “The more fees they add on transactions, the higher costs go for all Americans. President Trump is fighting for affordability for American workers and families, and he won’t let the big banks stand in the way,” England continued. “We urge President Trump to stop the big banks from adding more hidden fees and stand up for workers and families–Americans are counting on it.” Other conservatives oppose the open banking rule.  In a public comment letter last October, John Berlau, senior fellow and director of finance policy at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, argued the rule promulgated the previous year exceeds the mandate of the 2010 law.  The post EXCLUSIVE: New Ad Campaign Promotes ‘Open Banking’ Amid Trump Affordability Push appeared first on The Daily Signal.

Ohio Lawmaker Proposes Bill to Stop Church Interruptions Amid Don Lemon Stunt Fallout

Ohio lawmakers are looking to use the recent interruption of Sunday services at Cities Church in Minnesota to send a message: Don’t do it here, or else face harsh consequences. Ohio state Rep. Tex Fischer, a Republican, is leading a bill he believes will “absolutely” be a deterrent. Fischer told The Daily Signal he considers it “very strange” that individuals would consider it acceptable to interrupt church services, which is already not permitted in Ohio. Fischer’s bill would increase penalties for disrupting worship services in the Buckeye state. A press release for the bill mentioned St. Paul directly when bringing up increased penalties. “In response to a recent anti-ICE protest that disrupted a church service in St. Paul, Minnesota, the bill will increase the penalty for disturbing a lawful meeting of religious worship from a first-degree misdemeanor to a fifth-degree felony,” the press release reads. Ex-CNN host Don Lemon was arrested in connection with the Cities Church disruption. “It’s very strange. I thought we agreed that this sort of thing was off limits, that interrupting a church service was not okay, but apparently not,” Fischer shared. Although Fischer said that what’s going on in Ohio is not as organized, he’s still concerned that the attention the St. Paul protest received could inspire more such incidents. Fischer offered he doesn’t want to see church services interrupted anywhere, “especially not in Ohio,” where he actually has the ability to do something about it. Due to the voicemails I have received from deranged individuals who think their desire to storm into a church supersedes everyone else’s right to practice their religion in peace, I will be amending the bill to make it even stronger.Thank you for your attention to this matter! https://t.co/JkBoOE7W0e— Tex Fischer (@texfischer) January 31, 2026 The opposition has been “shockingly nasty,” Fischer told The Daily Signal, for a bill he considers to be “innocuous” and “very straightforward.” Church service interruptions have happened in Ohio, and yet agitators have gotten away with it. A YouTube video from January 2021 shows pro-choice individuals interrupting a Catholic Mass at St. Joseph’s in Columbus. Franklin County declined to prosecute, however. Fischer is going to add provisions not only about repeat offenders, but also to directly involve the attorney general. Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost supports the bill, Fischer told The Daily Signal. A reporting mandate requirement will ensure that every incident is reported to the attorney general. There will also be a right of private action for victims to bring suit in civil court. The Daily Signal reached out to the attorney general’s office but did not hear back. Fischer expects the bill to have a committee assignment in the coming weeks and told The Daily Signal he is “very hopeful to get hearings” on his bill. Democratic Senate candidate’s ‘satanic’ use of scripture to defend abortion MUST be challenged

Democratic U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico made blasphemous comments on “The Joe Rogan Experience” where he used scripture to justify abortion — and BlazeTV host Steve Deace believes it’s high time our political candidates can stand up to it.“I say all this in context of abortion because before God comes over Mary and we have the Incarnation, God asks for Mary’s consent, which is remarkable. I mean, go back and read this in Luke. I mean, the angel comes down and asks Mary if this is something she wants to do, and she says, ‘If it is God’s will, let it be done, let it be,’” Talarico told Rogan in July of last year.“So to me that is an affirmation in one of our most central stories that creation has to be done with consent. You cannot force someone to create. Creation is one of the most sacred acts that we engage in as human beings. But that has to be done with consent. It has to be done with freedom,” he continued.“To me that is absolutely consistent with the ministry and life and death of Jesus,” he added.“I can see why given the current state of much of the church, they think this. And Talarico is just another step of that phase that we’re in now,” Deace says on the “Steve Deace Show.”“But one of the things that we’re going to have to be more prepared for than ever before is nominating candidates who can stand up to that,” he continues, explaining that we cannot allow “the faith to be hijacked and redefined.”“We’re up against a rival religion here. And this is not any different than the whole thing, every Christmastime, that Joseph and Mary were refugees. No, they weren’t. We debunk that and deconstruct that deconstruction every single Christmas,” Deace says.“The idea that it was already against the Jewish law to commit murder. It was even in the Levitical law that if you harm a woman who is pregnant, you’re on the hook for the unborn child as well. The Hebrew midwives ... commit the heroic act of refusing ... to commit late-term abortions against their own, you know, children as deemed by Pharaoh and that’s one of the ways that Moses survives,” he explains.“So the idea that some 13- or 14-year-old Jewish girl was just going to say, you know what, on second thought, I’m just going to hit this back alley here in Judea and get rid of the thing, which is what he’s alluding to. It’s just flat-out satanic,” he continues.“But there’s going to be a lot more of this,” he adds.Want more from Steve Deace? To enjoy more of Steve's take on national politics, Christian worldview, and principled conservatism with a snarky twist, subscribe to BlazeTV — the largest multi-platform network of voices who love America, defend the Constitution, and live the American dream.
