What Kind of Prayer Moves Heaven?

Many people are attracted to the big, quick answer to prayer—but new life comes only through persistent, unceasing, and belabored prayer.

‘STRONG ENDORSEMENT’: Nikki Haley Touts Trump’s National Security Record

Despite finishing a distant second in the Republican presidential primaries, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley told the crowd at the Republican National Convention on Tuesday night: “Donald Trump has my strong endorsement, period.” “I had a front row seat to his national security policies. We sure could use those again,” said Haley, also a former U.S ambassador to the U.N. “When Barack Obama was president, [Russian President] Vladimir Putin invaded Crimea. With Joe Biden as president, Putin invaded all of Ukraine. When Donald Trump was president, Putin invaded nothing. No invasions, no wars. That was no accident. Putin didn’t attack Ukraine because he knew Donald Trump was tough. A strong president doesn’t start wars. A strong president prevents wars.” Trump’s former U.N. ambassador also said that the Biden administration has been weak in the Middle East, in seeking to reenter the Iranian nuclear agreement and pressuring Israel in its war with Hamas. Haley challenged Trump for the 2024 presidential nomination and was the only other GOP candidate to win a primary—in both the District of Columbia and the state of Vermont. She lost her home state of South Carolina to Trump. During her convention remarks, Haley returned to a long-standing campaign theme, which she said was backed up by Biden’s disastrous debate performance against Trump in June. “For more than a year, I said a vote for Joe Biden is a vote for President Kamala Harris,” Haley said. “After seeing the debate, everyone knows that’s true. If we have four more years of Biden or a single day of Harris, our country will be badly worse off. For the sake of our country, we have to go with Donald Trump.” Nikki Haley: "If we have 4 more years of Biden, or a single day of Harris, our country will be badly worse off. For the sake of our nation we have to go with Donald Trump." pic.twitter.com/uX3MtKxfQ7— The Post Millennial (@TPostMillennial) July 17, 2024 Haley noted that Biden had put Harris in charge of the southern border, which has been in crisis since. “Kamala Harris had one job—fix the border,” Haley said. “Now, imagine her in charge of the entire country.”  The post ‘STRONG ENDORSEMENT’: Nikki Haley Touts Trump’s National Security Record appeared first on The Daily Signal.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders Touts Power of GOP Governors in Biden Era

Sarah Huckabee Sanders Touts Power of GOP Governors in Biden Era

Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders stirred the Milwaukee audience of the Republican National Convention on Tuesday night, as she touted GOP governors nationally and asserted that former President Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt by divine providence. “Not even an assassin’s bullet could stop him. God almighty intervened because America is one nation under God, and he is certainly not finished with President Donald Trump,” she said, referring to the attempt on Trump’s life Saturday at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, north of Pittsburgh. Sanders is a former Trump White House press secretary and the daughter of former Arkansas governor and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee. Early in her remarks, she recalled her time as White House press secretary, and joked about President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden. “I got the chance to take my four-year-old son Huck to ‘Bring Your Kid To Work Day,’ much like Jill now drags Joe to ‘Bring Your Husband To Work Day,’” Sanders quipped. She also talked about the personal attacks she endured when she was Trump’s press secretary, often from other women. “The Left doesn’t care about empowering women,” she said. “Biden and [Vice President Kamala] Harris can’t tell you what a woman is. But we have a president who believes in empowering every American and that our country is worth fighting for.”  With Biden in office, Sanders said, Republican governors had to take up Trump’s fight. “For the last four years, Republican governors have been leading that fight, and doing what Joe Biden refuses to do,” she said. “We deployed the National Guard to the border. We cracked down on crime and drugs. We cut taxes to give hardworking Americans a break from Bidenflation. And we empowered Americans with universal school choice across the country.” Trump was the first president in her lifetime “to take a hard line against China,” she said. “And I’m proud to be the first and only governor in the country to kick communist China off our farmland and out of my state.” The post Sarah Huckabee Sanders Touts Power of GOP Governors in Biden Era appeared first on The Daily Signal.

MSNBC's Rachel Maddow Thinks Viewers Are Morons, Falsely Equates Menéndez and Trump’s Convictions

MSNBC’s decision to bench the Morning Joe crew in the name of “lowering the temperature while allowing the prime-time lineup to run amuck at the Republican National Convention is, to put it charitably, a head-scratching decision. Tonight’s shameless and spurious comparison of the parties’ dealing with felony convictions serves as proof evident of the folly of that decision. Watch as noted Russia conspiracy theorist Rachel Maddow tries to establish that the felony convictions of Senator Robert Menéndez and former President Donald Trump are morally equal, and makes a false comparison of the parties’ handling of these convictions (click “Expand” to view transcript): https://www.mrctv.org/node/588504 MSNBC Republican National Convention Special 7/16/24 9:05 PM RACHEL MADDOW: In terms of the other news that is going on around this convention that is sort of casting a shadow over these events, it is- it would be a remarkable thing in any circumstance, it’s a particularly remarkable thing that in New Jersey today the senior senator, Robert Menendez, is now facing, I mean- calls for his resignation, certainly. Calls for his expulsion from the Senate. In federal court, New Jersey senator Menendez was convicted of 16 felonies with which he was charged. Guilty on all charges including bribery, extortion, acting as a foreign agent. This is the case in which Senator Menendez was charged with accepting cash and gold bars in exchange for acting to benefit the governments of Egypt and Qatar. Now that Menendez has not just been indicted on those charges, but convicted, it is basically inconceivable that the Democratic Party will allow Robert Menendez to stay in the Senate. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer today insisted that Menendez must resign, as did Menendez’ fellow New Jersey senator Corey Booker. We’re going to be speaking live with Senator Booker later on this hour. New Jersey’s Democratic Governor Phil Murphy also demanding that Senator Menendez resign because he has been criminally convicted. Governor Murphy even going further, saying that if Senator Menendez does not resign, he is requesting that the United States Senate vote to expel him- force him out if he won't leave on his own terms. This- this is- this is awkward, right? For what’s going on here in Milwaukee. To be clear, it is the Democratic Senate leader, the Democratic governor of his home state demanding that a Democratic senator must resign or be forced out because of his criminal conviction. And the Democrats surely aren't happy that a senator from their party has turned out to be a felon 16 times over. But at least the Democratic Party knows what to do when something like that happens, right? If you are convicted of felonies in the Democratic Party you are expected to leave office, and indeed your party will demand that you must leave of your own accord and if you don't leave of your own accord they will remove you otherwise. That’s how it works in Democratic Party politics. Had Robert Menendez been a Republican, I'm sorry JD Vance, Bob Menendez would probably be the vice presidential nominee of the Republican party by now. All of the both sides mirror image analysis we get of how there are things wrong with both parties and there’s corruption, the handling of Robert Menendez and the handling of Donald Trump, both of whom are convicted on multiple felony counts, tells you what you need to know in terms of the way these two parties feel about law and order issues.  In order for Maddow’s nonsensical statements to make sense one must, as per the Party’s final, most essential command as written in Orwell’s 1984, “reject the evidence of your eyes and ears”. This is essential to accepting the false premise set forth by Maddow, that a case Frankensteined together from statute-limited civil misdemeanors and uncharged federal violations into a state felony by a partisan Soros-financed district attorney is somehow morally equivalent to a powerful senator getting caught accepting Mercedes Benzes and gold bars in exchange for preferential treatment to various countries.  And furthermore, Maddow requires viewers to believe that the reason Democrats are calling upon Menendez to resign NOW is because of some sense of moral uprightness, and not because they waited until the last second to do so as not to mess with their majority. Maddow’s convoluted moral equivalence requires, in order to achieve credibility, that one completely forget the existence of George Anthony Devolder Santos, the now-former congressman from New York who was expelled from the House upon indictment. That’s the moral comp to Robert Menéndez who, if we’re being completely honest, should’ve been long gone from the Senate once the…Dominican allegations, corroborated by federal authorities, came to light. That, or the first bribery indictment. Pick one. But it ain't Trump, at least not if we're being honest. Either way, the public discourse is not served by such gaslighting and willful spreading of disinformation. The temperature, as it were, is insufficiently lowered.

ABC, Lincoln Project Co-Founder: Republicans Are 'An Angry Party'

During Tuesday night’s coverage of the 2024 Republican National Convention, ABC News anchor Linsey Davis interviewed Lincoln Project co-founder and never-Trumper Stuart Stevens, who bitterly criticized the Republican Party, claiming that it was “an angry party.” Davis asked Stevens for comments on the Republican Party’s path forward following the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, which ABC had previously blamed on Trump himself, as well as on the party’s future in light of Senator J.D. Vance’s (R-OH) selection as Trump’s running mate. In response, Stevens contended that both marked “the full embrace of Trumpism for the Republican Party.” To him, the party had radically transformed into “an angry party,” to the extent that “George Bush couldn't get five percent in the Republican primary if he ran as he did in 2000.”     Yet, it was Stevens who betrayed himself as not only angry, but also terrified of a possible Republican win in November. The Republican-hater had a colorful history of fearmongering about all things GOP, proudly drawing attention to his experience as a Republican campaign manager, which apparently was enough to elicit such detestation. Stevens further decried Trump’s realistic call to action against the heinous crimes of illegal immigrants against United States citizens, which the big three networks (ABC, CBS, NBC) completely disregarded, as investigated in a recent NewsBusters study.  To Stevens, Trump’s message was “not a very optimistic vision” because “Donald Trump is out there saying we live in a third world country, an uncivilized country. There are these dark demons out there that are after us and you need a strong man to protect you.” He even dared to compare the current immigration crisis to Ronald Reagan’s speech in front of the Statue of Liberty, which honored immigrants. Where Reagan’s speech was “an ode to immigration,” Stevens saw Trump’s call against the crimes of illegal immigrants, including the rape and murder of children, as an “attack on people who want to come to America for a better life.”  Stevens pathetically ended by contending that “it’s just not where the majority of the country is.” The transcript is below: ABC News Live 7/16/2024 08:38:18 PM EST LINSEY DAVIS: How does the Republican Party move on after the assassination attempt on Trump? And, what does the future of the party look like with Senator J.D. Vance, now? STUART STEVENS: Look, this is the full embrace of Trumpism for the Republican Party. Um, the Republican Party that I worked in, going back to George Bush, no longer exists. George Bush couldn't get five percent in the Republican primary if he ran as he did in 2000. This is an angry party. It's a party that has–Donald Trump is out there saying we live in a third world country, an uncivilized country. There are these dark demons out there that are after us and you need a strong man to protect you.  And I just don't think that that's where the country really is. It’s not a very optimistic vision. Ronald Reagan announced in front of the Statue of Liberty to send a signal to welcome immigrants. His last speech was an ode to immigration. And here you have this attack on people who want to come to America for a better life. I think it's–it’s just not where the majority of the country is.

Nikki Haley, Ron DeSantis — who opposed Trump in the primaries — strongly support Trump in rousing RNC speeches

Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis — who opposed former President Donald Trump in the primary races — threw their support behind Trump in back-to-back, rousing Republican National Convention speeches Tuesday night.Haley — who stayed in the primaries the longest against Trump — told the RNC crowd she wanted to make "one thing perfectly clear: Donald Trump has my strong endorsement, period!" The audience loved the moment and showered her with cheers and applause.'Donald Trump stands in their way and stands up for us,' DeSantis said before adding that the former president 'nearly lost his life' battling the left and battling for America. 'We cannot let him down or America down.'The former South Carolina governor — who also served as United Nations Ambassador under Trump for part of his term in office — added that America is "at a critical moment" and "will be badly worse off" if Democrat President Joe Biden is reelected — and Americans must vote for Trump "for the sake of our nation."The Associated Press, citing Haley spokesperson Chaney Denton, reported that Haley hadn't been invited to the convention. But the AP said that changed when Haley was added to the list of speakers Sunday — one day after Trump survived an attempted assassination during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Indeed, Haley said at the RNC that Trump asked her to speak "in the name of unity." Haley emphasized that Americans "don't have to agree with Trump 100 percent of the time to vote for him" and added that while she also hasn't always agreed with Trump, "we agree more often than we disagree."Haley added that she and Trump both believe in "keeping America strong, keeping America safe," and that they both agree that Democrats have "moved so far to the left that they're putting our freedom in danger."She also told the crowd that Trump's national security policies need to return, and that the likes of Russian President Vladimir Putin "knew Donald Trump was tough," which was why Putin didn't start the war with Ukraine while Trump was in office. Haley added that Iran "knew Trump meant business, and they were afraid" of him, which also resulted in fewer problems in the Middle East when Trump was in the White House. She also pointed to the debacle at the border with Mexico, calling it the "single biggest threat Americans face" as migrants pour into the United States with few obstacles. With that, Haley excoriated Democrat Vice President Kamala Harris, telling the RNC audience to imagine Harris in charge of an entire country when she can't even handle her border duties."This is a defining moment," Haley warned the RNC.DeSantis — the Republican governor of Florida — followed Haley's address and gave a shorter, louder, and faster-paced speech peppered with anti-left truth-telling that inspired frequent bursts of applause.DeSantis told the RNC that life was "more affordable" when Trump was president, that our "border was safer," and that "our country was respected." In contrast, he declared that "Biden has failed this nation" and called his controversial pullout from Afghanistan early in his term a "dereliction of duty." Echoing the concerns of a vast majority of Americans, DeSantis also said Biden simply "lacks the capability to discharge the duties of his office."The governor then roasted Biden, saying that the country can't afford more of his "Weekend at Bernie's" presidency — a reference to a 1989 comedy about a pair of young men trying to make their dead employer appear alive.DeSantis also threw shade at the left for wanting illegal aliens to come into the U.S. without restrictions — except when they show up on the ritzy, ultra-liberal island of Martha's Vineyard. He also took leftists to task for weaponizing political power to target political opponents, noting they've done exactly that to Trump with continual indictments and lawsuits. DeSantis also blasted Democrats for wanting to take away gas-powered cars and the Second Amendment while pushing DEI, which he redefined as "division, exclusion, and indoctrination — and it is wrong.""Donald Trump stands in their way and stands up for us," DeSantis said before adding that the former president "nearly lost his life" battling the left and battling for America. "We cannot let him down or America down."Anything else?DeSantis launched a presidential bid in 2023 and dropped out in January while endorsing Trump as the "superior" candidate over Biden. In April, Trump said he and DeSantis "had a great meeting" in Florida and discussed how they could work together to better the U.S.Haley opposed Trump for much longer before finally dropping out of the race in March after losing 14 of 15 states to Trump on Super Tuesday. Prior to that Haley only took the District of Columbia in primary contests. Once Haley suspended her campaign, Trump became the presumptive Republican presidential nominee — and mantle that become official on the first day of the RNC Monday. In May, Haley announced that she would be voting for Trump despite previously stating during her campaign that Trump is "not qualified" to be president. While Trump also in May said that Haley wasn't under consideration as his vice presidential running mate — that nod went to Republican Ohio Sen. JD Vance on Monday — Trump did suggest that Haley would "be on our team in some form."Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors, sign up for our newsletters, and get stories like this direct to your inbox.
