Dem Strategist Says Immigration Crackdown Means No One To Pick Berries ‘For Smoothies’

Democratic strategist Jenna Arnold claimed on Tuesday that President Donald Trump’s administration would really start to see blowback for stricter immigration and deportation policies when it became clear that no one was around to pick berries for smoothies. Arnold joined a panel discussion on CNN’s “NewsNight” hosted by Abby Phillip, where she lodged her objection after Republican commentator Scott Jennings suggested that employers should be held responsible for hiring those who were not in the country legally. WATCH: ?As Scott Jennings spits facts about businesses hiring aliens: “Employers who are part of this pipeline ought to be put on notice. You've got to play by the rules." Democrat retorts: “I can’t wait until American women can’t put blueberries in their smoothies." Every. Time.… pic.twitter.com/BLrZ1c2RIv — Western Lensman (@WesternLensman) January 29, 2025 “If you are trying to actively hire illegal immigrants, if you think that’s best, if you are trying to game the system, if you are trying to help someone break U.S. federal immigration law, I think if we’re going to have a true crackdown on illegal immigration in this country, it has to involve everybody who’s participating,” Jennings said. “Employers and anyone else who’s part of this pipeline, I think they ought to be put on notice. And you got to play by the rules,” he added. Former Trump administration official Bill Stepien agreed with Jennings, adding, “And I don’t want to hear that they’re doing work that no one else will do. Talk to guys in the building trades, plumbers, contractors —” “Picking strawberries,” Arnold interrupted then. “I mean, like I can’t wait, I can’t wait, I can’t wait until American women can’t get blueberries for their smoothies.” “I cannot wait until there is a full crackdown on all small businesses, as if that’s going to be the solution to the immigration problem. It is just going to put immigration-related issues further into the darker corners,” Arnold complained. “We’re not going to see them, it’s just going to become even harder to solve the problem. It doesn’t make sense to punish individuals and people when there is a broken system.” “Well, I mean look, I think if you came here illegally and you knowing you came — you know, you did it,” Jennings pushed back. “You know you broke the law. You know, you have to understand it’s a new day in America.” “And number two, I still think the case for total economic collapse, if we have some deportation is totally overstated,” he continued. “I mean, it’s obvious the priority is violent criminals. And the second priority is people with existing deportation orders. I think that’s the vast majority of what’s going to go on, you know, for the next couple of years. And I don’t think that’s going to have any impact on the economy at all.”

Previously Extinct Species Successfully Brought Back From The Brink! Meet The Chequered Skipper

The last Chequered Skipper was in England in 1976 before the brown and yellow species of butterfly was officially extinct. The species was thriving on other continents that supported the woodland habitat the butterflies needed to survive. Changes to woodland management were the stated cause of the extinction of the species in England. Image from Wikimedia Commons. They reintroduced the extinct species to Fineshade Wood near Corby, Northamptonshire, in 2018, with donor stock from Belgium. Breeding was evident within the donor population in 2019. The reintroduction location was a secret to offer the butterflies a better chance at recovery. The details and positive results were announced by Butterfly Conservation in 2022. Butterfly Conservation has Sir David Attenborough, at the helmwho became Butterfly Conservation President in 1998. Through the conservation project’s efforts, staff and volunteers are revitalizing butterfly habitats and working to increase populations. Their programs are vital because butterflies contribute to the overall health and continuation of ecosystems and other animal populations. Image from YouTube. Dr Nigel Bourn, Butterfly Conservation’s chief scientist, is confident that the success of this program demonstrates that bringing a species back from the brink of extinction is possible. Crews must determine the cause of the extinction, including environmental concerns, to correct any problems. The total donor population of 27 males and 101 females landed at two locations. After five years, the total number of Chequered Skippers has increased yearly. The latest count was 350 butterflies. Although not entirely out of danger, the initial program success has the recovery team hopeful. Wildlife recovery programs have assisted in restoring numbers for the California Condor. When a Tawny owl was infertile, a wildlife rescuer matched her with orphaned baby owls. Please share this story of recovery. You can find the source of this story’s featured image here. Odysee Drops Stripe for USDC Payments, Citing Censorship Concerns

If you're tired of censorship and dystopian threats against civil liberties, subscribe to Reclaim The Net. Earlier this month, free speech video-sharing platform Odysee announced that it would no longer use Stripe as its payments processor, and now more details about the new monetization model have emerged. Going forward, the primary currency on the platform will be USDC, a stablecoin (this is a type of cryptocurrency pegged to another asset – this particular one, to the US dollar). The reason for the switch, a blog post explained earlier, is that Stripe was not only denying service to some Odysee creators citing the company’s policies, but went on to demand that Odysee “restricts” i.e., demonetizes its own users – “because they don’t align with Stripe’s policies.” And Odysee was supposed to do this by incorporating third party “moderation” tools – and target even those users who were not using Stripe. Drastic to the point of being absurd, is how all this reads, and Odysee saw no choice but to drop Stripe. Now, users have learned that a blockchain-based system is taking its place, and what they can expect as that transition is taking place. Odysee users are warned that while gaining more autonomy in terms of the payment system, the onboarding experience may not be as “seamless” as it is with traditional processors, but those behind the platform also suggest this will be the case during the initial changes of the deployment of the new model. Regarding USDC, it is noted that this is a 1:1 value US dollar equivalent token and that Odysee will use a service that allows buying USDC with credit or debit cards, or bank accounts. A blog provides information about the mechanics behind this, and the way USDC can be withdrawn. On the platform, the token can be used the same way transactions were done until now – to tip, buy content, or membership. The post also lists and explains the main differences between Stripe and USDC-based payment systems – and why the latter is a better option. “Removing Stripe or any other similar payment processor from the equation provides greater freedom and significantly reduces transaction costs for both users and creators. Additionally, Odysee will no longer take a cut of any transactions,” the post reads. This is because users and creators will manage their money using a cryptocurrency wallet.
