'The Uniparty has spoken': House overwhelmingly spikes bid to oust Johnson from speakership

Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia sought to oust House Speaker Mike Johnson from the speakership on Wednesday, but the move was soundly rejected, with most House Democrats joining with most House Republicans to put the kibosh on the ouster effort."The Uniparty has spoken, and Mike Johnson is their speaker," GOP Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky said in a statement to Blaze News.Overall, the vote was 359-43 in favor of tabling the motion to vacate, with seven voting present. While 196 Republicans and 163 Democrats joined together in the vote to table the matter, 11 Republicans and 32 Democrats opposed the motion to table."It’s a new paradigm in Congress."The 11 Republicans who opposed tabling the motion included Reps. Greene, Massie, Warren Davidson of Ohio, Alex Mooney of West Virginia, Barry Moore of Alabama; Victoria Spartz of Indiana. Chip Roy of Texas; Paul Gosar of Arizona, Eli Crane of Arizona, Eric Burlison of Missouri, and Andy Biggs of Arizona. — (@) "It's a new paradigm in Congress. Nancy Pelosi, and most republicans voted to keep Uniparty Speaker Mike Johnson. These are the eleven, including myself, who voted NOT to save him," Massie tweeted. Last week, House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries of New York, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark of Massachusetts, and Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar of California had announced that if Greene sought to oust the speaker, they would vote to table the motion to vacate. In a post on X, Massie shared what he said was the text of Greene's motion to vacate."Whereas, Speaker Johnson’s tenure is defined by one self-serving characteristic: When given a choice between advancing Republican priorities or allying with Democrats to preserve his own personal power, Johnson regularly chooses to ally himself with Democrats," a portion of the text reads, according to Massie's post. — (@) Like Blaze News? Man said his granddaughter was kidnapped for human trafficking, but police say he left her with homeless woman to visit bar

California police have arrested a man after he allegedly made a false report that his granddaughter had been missing when he had intentionally left her with a homeless woman in order to visit a bar. The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said officers were called to the parking lot of a bar in Sacramento on Monday at about 7:45 p.m. A man told people that he was looking for his 7-year-old granddaughter because she had been kidnapped for human trafficking. "She could have been left with ... someone who doesn't really care." Police said that the man was "highly intoxicated" and identified him as 54-year-old Jason Warren. Warren reportedly told police he had paid a homeless woman to take his granddaughter to a thrift store and then went to a bar. Police said he was at the bar for about four hours. Deputies were able to find surveillance video of the woman leaving with the child. The woman brought the girl back to the parking lot after she heard from a helicopter loudspeaker that they were searching for her. Police said the homeless woman confirmed that Warren had paid her $20 to take the child to the thrift store. She also said that Warren appeared to be too intoxicated to take care of a girl, so she decided to take her to her camp to get some food.KXTV-TV spoke to the homeless woman who was identified as Lauren Jope. "I was just walking down the street, and this guy asked me, 'Can you go in the store with my daughter to buy a pair of shorts?'" she said. Police said that the 7-year-old girl confirmed the story given by the homeless woman, and she did not appear to be in distress. She was also medically cleared. Investigators found that the girl's aunt had full custody of her but that she had left the child with the grandfather because the aunt had to go to work. Police released custody of the girl to the aunt. "I'm glad that I was walking when I was, because, she could have been left with some man, or someone who doesn't want to watch her, or something like that, someone who doesn't really care," said Jope. Warren was arrested and charged with felony child endangerment as well as other charges and is being held at the Sacramento County Main Jail on $75,000 bail. Georgia woman fell 136 feet to her death from Ohio graduation stands, but police say it was not accidental

A Georgia woman was identified as the person who fell from graduation stands at an Ohio stadium on Sunday, but police say it was not accidental. While many of the attendees were shaken by the incident, the graduation continued on Sunday after the woman fell at Ohio Stadium in Columbus. A history of mental illness.Police said she fell about 136 feet to the pavement below just as the graduates were walking into the opening ceremony. She was pronounced dead at the scene. An officer called for help on the police radio at the stadium around 12:30 p.m. Some of the students walked by the location of her death after the ceremony ended. The woman was later identified as 53-year-old Larissa Brady from Georgia, whose daughter was in the ceremony. Investigators do not suspect foul play was involved, nor do they believe that the fall was accidental, according to university spokesperson Ben Johnson. The Columbus Dispatch reported that court documents indicated police believed the death was a suicide. Witnesses said they saw the woman climb over the concrete wall of the stadium after making her way to the last row of seats near the bell tower. The coroner's office said that the woman's husband had reported that she was not taking her medications and had a history of mental illness issues. The woman had reportedly tried to commit suicide at least twice before her death. The investigative report said that the woman had gone to the stadium with her husband and their son from Woodstock, a city north of Marietta. Once they sat down, she told her family she wanted to find a higher seat. The coroner identified her through her fingerprints. Brady's daughter was receiving a bachelor's degree during the ceremony, and the report said that the mother had spoken to her daughter just before the program began. The death was not mentioned during the graduation ceremony despite the news of the horrible incident spreading among the attendees. Some on social media criticized the commencement speaker, social entrepreneur Chris Pan, for delivering an upbeat speech after the tragedy. A spokesperson for the university said that graduates and participants in the ceremony were offered counseling services. Here's more about the lethal fall: Like Blaze News? Trump responds to failed bid to oust speaker Mike Johnson: 'I absolutely love Marjorie Taylor Greene'

Trump responds to failed bid to oust speaker Mike Johnson: 'I absolutely love Marjorie Taylor Greene'

Former President Donald Trump issued a statement soon after the House of Representatives overwhelmingly voted against a campaign to kick Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.) out of the speaker's office. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) filed the motion to vacate after a speech in which she accused Johnson of failing to defund the Department of Justice in order to stop its lawsuits against Trump. The former president praised Greene even as he said that Republicans needed to be unified in his post on Truth Social. "I absolutely love Marjorie Taylor Greene. She's got Spirit, she's got Fight, and I believe she'll be around, and on our side, for a long time to come," wrote Trump. "Mike Johnson is a good man who is trying very hard." "However, right now, Republicans have to be fighting the Radical Left Democrats, and all the Damage they have done to our Country," he added. "With a Majority of One, shortly growing to three or four, we're not in a position of voting on a Motion to Vacate. At some point, we may very well be, but this is not the time." He wrote that he was leading in presidential polls and predicted that Republicans would win in the Senate as well as the House. "But if we show DISUNITY, which will be portrayed as CHAOS, it will negatively affect everything!" Trump said. "Mike Johnson is a good man who is trying very hard. I also wish certain things were done over the last period of two months, but we will get them done, together." He went on to request Republicans vote to table the motion. Greene had previously said that she was upset that Johnson had not ended funding that went to Ukraine in its war against Russia's invasion. Only 11 Republicans voted to support the motion. Johnson had defended himself by responding, "I'm the most conservative member who has ever held the gavel as speaker, but the reality of our numbers is our challenge." "A failing act of political theater." Angry Republicans excoriated the effort in an impromptu media briefing outside the Capitol Building. Republican Rep. Dusty Johnson of South Dakota especially derided the motion. “We know this motion is not going to do one thing to make America stronger, it's not gonna do one thing to deliver a conservative victory. It's going to sow discord and dissent, and by the way, it's going to fail. She is engaged in a failing act of political theater," said Johnson to reporters. "What you have here is some of the mainstream members who are the adults, and we're gonna do what adults do," he added. "We're going to ignore the tantrums and instead work to actually govern this country.” Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky was an avid supporter of the motion to remove Johnson, and he issued a bitter critique of the political situation after the vote. "Vacating Kevin McCarthy was a huge mistake. Every Democrat voted to vacate him because he fought them tooth and nail," Massey said on social media. — (@) "Keeping Mike Johnson is an even bigger mistake," he added. "An overwhelming majority of democrats voted to keep him because he’s given them everything they want." Johnson replaced Kevin McCarthy in October after a campaign that accused the former speaker of being weak and not supportive of Trump enough. Greene had praised the ascension of Johnson and took a selfie with him after the vote was successful. "I just voted for Mike Johnson to be our next Speaker of the House! Mike has a conservative voting record and has committed to helping me move important legislation forward," she posted at the time. After the vote on Wednesday, she accused him of being the leader of the "uniparty," including Democrats. "Tonight, you saw the Uniparty in action. Nancy Pelosi, Hakeem Jeffries, and the rest of the Democrats saved Mike Johnson," she said in a pair of messages on social media. Trump finished his post on Wednesday promising that Republicans would win big and soon. Here's more about the failed ouster: Like Blaze News? Biden warns of red line on Rafah, saying if Israel attacks population centers, he won't supply weapons 'historically' utilized

President Joe Biden indicated that he warned Israeli officials that they will not receive U.S. support if they wage war in population centers in Rafah.Israel has been at war in response to heinous attacks perpetrated by terrorists last year who perpetrated slaughter, kidnapping, and rape. The Jewish state is aiming to ensure its security and recover those taken captive. Biden said the U.S. isn't "walkin' away from Israel's security," but from its "ability to wage war in those areas."Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has noted, "With the consent of the War Cabinet, I directed [that the IDF] act in Rafah. They raised Israeli flags at the Rafah Crossing and took down the Hamas flags. The entry into Rafah serves two of the main objectives of the war: Returning our hostages and eliminating Hamas."During an interview with CNN's Erin Burnett, Biden said that if Israel enters Rafah, he will not provide weapons that have "historically" been employed to "deal with Rafah." The U.S. will seek to ensure Israel is secure as it pertains to the Iron Dome and its ability to react to attacks, Biden said. But he noted that he has warned Netanyahu and the war cabinet that they will not receive U.S. support if they enter population centers. Biden said the U.S. isn't "walkin' away from Israel's security," but from its "ability to wage war in those areas.""So it's not over your red line yet?" Burnett asked."Not yet," Biden said, adding that the U.S. has "held up" a weapons shipment.U.S. Defense Sec. Lloyd Austin has said that the U.S. "paused one shipment of high ... payload, uh, munitions."Some, including Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, have accused Israel of perpetrating a "genocide.""It's no coincidence that immediately after our government sent the Israeli apartheid regime over $14 billion with absolutely no conditions on upholding human rights, Netanyahu began a ground invasion of Rafah to continue the genocide of Palestinians—with ammunition and bombs paid for by our tax dollars," Tlaib said in a statement. "For months, Netanyahu made his intent to invade Rafah clear, yet the majority of my colleagues and President Biden sent more weapons to enable the massacre."Left-wing Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) said in a statement, "Given the unprecedented humanitarian disaster that Netanyahu's war has created in Gaza, where hundreds of thousands of children face starvation, President Biden is absolutely right to halt bomb delivery to this extreme, right-wing Israeli government. But this must be a first step. The U.S. must now use ALL its leverage to demand an immediate ceasefire, the end of the attacks on Rafah, and the immediate delivery of massive amounts of humanitarian aid to people living in desperation." RFK Jr. said doctor thought spot in scans involved 'a worm that got into my brain and ate a portion of it and then died': NYT

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. suffered memory loss and brain fog in 2010, according to the New York Times, which reported that Kennedy said in a 2012 deposition that doctors had seen a dark spot in brain scans and thought there was a tumor. But another doctor thought the area viewed in the scans "was caused by a worm that got into my brain and ate a portion of it and then died," Kennedy claimed in the deposition, according to the outlet.During an interview with the Times, Kennedy indicated that he had recovered from the memory loss and mental fog and does not suffer aftereffects from the parasite, which did not necessitate treatment. "I offer to eat 5 more brain worms and still beat President Trump and President Biden in a debate."Doctors thought that a cyst viewed in scans contained parasite remains, according to the Times, which noted that Kennedy indicated he was not aware of the kind of parasite. The outlet also reported that Kennedy indicated that he found out about the parasite around the same point that he got diagnosed with mercury poisoning."I offer to eat 5 more brain worms and still beat President Trump and President Biden in a debate," the independent presidential candidate quipped in a post on X. "I feel confident of the result even with a six-worm handicap," he added in another post. — (@) GOP Rep. Mike Collins of Georgia was scolded by some on social media for a post that read, "You either die a Kennedy with a hole in the brain or live long enough to become a Kennedy with a hole in the brain." Kennedy's father and uncle, Sen. Robert F. Kennedy and President John F. Kennedy, respectively, were both assassinated in the 1960s."You think this is funny? Or clever? It's disgusting and says a lot about your character," Janice Dean tweeted in response to the congressman's post."This is... not okay. How did we get here?" Alex Berenson wrote. — (@) Like Blaze News?
