RNC’s New Abortion Stance Betrays GOP’s Founding, Pro-Life Activist Says

The Republican National Committee’s 2024 stance on abortion is the worst platform plank he’s ever seen, pro-life advocate Tom McClusky said Wednesday at the National Conservatism Conference in Washington. McClusky, principal at public affairs firm Greenlight Strategies LLC, said that this week was a dark one for the pro-life movement in a panel discussion, “Beyond Dobbs.” That’s a reference to Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the June 2022 Supreme Court abortion decision that overturned Roe v. Wade. The RNC’s 2024 platform betrays the pro-life founders of the Republican Party, he said. “If the Republican Party weakens, I’m standing on the shoulders of people who fought for decades to make the Republican Party pro-life,” McClusky said. The RNC’s Platform Committee adopted former President Donald Trump’s GOP platform, the Trump campaign announced on Monday, including new language on abortion and on protection of the unborn. That new platform’s abortion language is a significant departure from the party’s life messaging in 2016, which was largely replicated in 2020, since it no longer calls for federal protections for unborn babies and instead suggests that the issue is up to the states. The 2016 platform included the word “abortion” 35 times, while the 2024 platform merely includes abortion once. Republican Sens. J.D. Vance of Ohio and Marco Rubio of Florida recently said they support the abortion drug mifepristone remaining accessible. The pill is responsible for 63% of abortions. “It appears that there is little courage or appetite among our national leaders to try to protect unborn Americans with new federal laws,” said Katy Talento, a former policy adviser for President Donald Trump and CEO at AllBetter Health, a firm that helps employers navigate health plan benefits. Abortion is not just a state issue, as the RNC platform suggests, McClusky said, because the federal government is not neutral on it. More than $1 billion a year goes to the abortion industry nationally and internationally to help promote, subsidize, and perform abortions, he said. The Biden administration “is not just pro-abortion,” McClusky said. “It lives and breathes abortion. It is their religion. They want to take out us. They want to take out our children. So, there is a federal role right there.” “States can fight against the abortion drug, but the abortion drug is promoted by the United States Postal Service—that is under federal jurisdiction,” he added. “That is why the federal government needs to get involved.” Politicians should read the Food and Drug Administration label on the abortion pill before advocating for it being available on demand, Talento said. “The next woman bleeding out in a fetal position could be their daughter or granddaughter,” she said. “It’s time to take seriously the dangerous risks of this powerful, toxic chemical,” Talento added, asserting that 1 in 20 women end up in a hospital emergency room after taking the abortion pill. The Biden administration has transformed “every agency into Planned Parenthood,” she said, adding that a second Trump administration could reverse President Joe Biden’s radically pro-abortion agency guidelines, she said. “Those will all have to be reversed,” Talento said, “and there’s simply no avoiding it.” The post RNC’s New Abortion Stance Betrays GOP’s Founding, Pro-Life Activist Says appeared first on The Daily Signal.

Why This Congressman Wants IRS to Probe Pro-Hamas Funders

“Sunlight is said to be the best of disinfectants,” Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis famously said in 1913. Indeed, our exposure of the network of organizations supporting pro-Hamas demonstrators is now helping a member of Congress pressure the Internal Revenue Service to investigate these groups. Rep. Jim Banks, R-Ind., sent a letter June 27 to IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel urging him to “immediately begin an audit” of organizations that are part of the network and have 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) tax-exempt status. Specifically, Banks focused on two groups: the Alliance for Global Justice and the Westchester People’s Action Coalition. Banks referenced a Heritage Foundation Special Report the two of us released last month detailing the vast network that supports America’s protesters—an ecosystem with links to American enemies such as China, Cuba, and Venezuela that we call the Revolutionary Ecosystem. This ecosystem, which today supports pro-Hamas demonstrators, is virtually the same as the one that supported the Black Lives Matter organizations that emerged in 2014 and 2020. On the surface, these two causes may seem unrelated. But, as our report details, America’s radical leftist groups are intricately connected through a Marxist network of activists, funders, fiscal sponsors, and media groups. The Alliance for Global Justice and the Westchester People’s Action Coalition, or Wespac, are both key parts of this ecosystem. The Alliance for Global Justice started out as the Nicaragua Network, which spent its time supporting the Marxist Sandinista revolutionaries in Central America before eventually deciding to rebrand and incorporate in Washington, D.C., under its current name. Since then, the alliance has had its finger in almost every leftist pie across the globe. According to InfluenceWatch, it fiscally sponsors 107 groups “advocating numerous foreign and domestic far-left and extreme-left causes, including eliminating the state of Israel, supporting convicted violent leftist extremists, and advancing various labor union efforts.” The Alliance for Global Justice fiscally sponsors several chapters of Black Lives Matters and previously sponsored the Movement for Black Lives, a key BLM umbrella. At the same time, the alliance fiscally sponsors Samidoun, a pro-Palestinian activist organization that serves as a front for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a  terrorist group. The Alliance for Global Justice connects these radical activists to equally radical funders such as the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, the Tides Foundation, and billionaire financier George Soros’ Open Society Foundations. All three organizations, as we note in our report, have given substantial amounts to the alliance. In 2001, the Alliance for Global Justice founded the ANSWER Coalition, an anti-war, anti-Israel group that has coordinated protests across the U.S., including a march that brought a crowd of 400,000 to Washington. Nor do the alliance’s ties to the Revolutionary Ecosystem end there. It also coordinates the efforts of Marxist organizations across the country. The alliance frequently hosts events for leftist groups such as the Democratic Socialists of America and the Party of Socialism and Liberation. The Alliance for Global Justice links radicals both inside and outside the U.S. It partners with Code Pink, an activist organization with close ties to the Chinese Communist Party through its co-founder Jodie Evans and her husband, Neville Roy Singham, who reside in Shanghai, China’s largest city. The alliance also supports Marxist-Leninist regimes around the world, praising dictatorial governments such as those in China, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, and Brazil. Likewise, the Westchester People’s Action Coalition has its tentacles in every corner of the leftist movement. Wespac fiscally sponsored Within Our Lifetime, an activist organization that openly supports terrorist groups such as Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis. It also sponsors the Grassroots Global Justice Alliance, a vast network that includes the Palestinian Youth Movement and other activist groups. Most organizations in the Revolutionary Ecosystem don’t exclusively focus on the specific cause in question. Rather, as we write in our report, “they opportunistically seize on these concerns when they arise in the news to pursue a long-term agenda that is often openly anti-capitalist and anti-democracy.” These issues all fit into what the Alliance for Global Justice describes as an “interwoven struggle for liberation from empire”—an ideological phrase meaning simply that they all pursue the ultimate Marxist goal: the overthrow of the United States, which they view as an oppressive state structure. This fits directly into the schemes of America’s enemies, who have eagerly seized on these opportunities to destabilize the U.S. As we write in our report: “Enemy regimes, such as China, Cuba, and Venezuela, are increasingly a part of this ecosystem—and their goal is to weaken America.” Nor are the organizations that comprise this ecosystem shy about acknowledging their ties to the larger progressive Marxist movement. For example, Jewish Voice for Peace, one of the organizers of the Columbia University campus protests, described itself as part of a broad progressive movement that makes the connections between the struggle in Israel/Palestine and all struggles aimed at justice, dignity, freedom, and equality for all—from the Black Lives Matter movement to the struggle for immigrant rights, from work against mass incarceration to opposing U.S. militarism around the world, and many others. It’s time for us to take these activists at their word and acknowledge the vast underlying ecosystem bent on destroying our society. Once we do that, we may be able to make progress toward destroying the Revolutionary Ecosystem instead. Banks’ letter to the IRS commissioner is a step in the right direction. Anti-'Extremism' Reporter Defends Pro-Hamas Extremists on Campus from Canary Mission

Beware reporters who cover “extremism.” That is easily defined as “right-wing extremism.” For example, USA Today "extremism" reporter Will Carless was an enthusiastic promoter of the “Sedition Hunters” who were identifying January 6 rioters for prosecution by the Biden Justice Department. He channeled their frustration that more of them weren't being prosecuted.  Now compare that to the front page of USA Today for July 5-7. The headline was "Under-the-radar website shares names, profiles of students protesting Gaza war." Carless wrote a big story railing against Canary Mission, a website that chronicles pro-Hamas activists, people who eagerly chant "From the river to the sea, Palestine shall be free." That's quite an insurrection against Israel. Nobody's talking about prosecuting the radical protesters and professors that are mentioned in this article. They're complaining that maybe they'll have trouble getting jobs after being identified online as an extremist.  The article began:  In March, as campus protests against the war in Gaza were surging nationwide, Will Mleczko joined a hunger strike.  The 20-year-old sophomore at the University of South Florida said he participated in the strike to get the university to stop investing in companies connected to the war in Gaza. Ultimately,  the university took no action.  The hunger strike lasted 17 days. Shortly after it ended, Mleczko’s name and photo appeared on a new web page about him. It described his hunger strike and said he “spread hatred of Israel… in the wake of Hamas terror atrocities.”  That page is one of thousands like it published on a site called Canary Mission. Its stated goal is to document “individuals and organizations that promote hatred of the USA, Israel and Jews on North American college campuses and beyond.”  So let's take a look at what Canary Mission posted about Mleczko:  Mleczko explained [slide 2] why he was fasting in an earlier Instagram post from USF Hunger Strike for Palestine. He wrote: “I am hunger striking in solidarity of [sic] the Palestinian cause and for USF to completely divest from weapons manufacturers and friends of the genocidal Israeli state… On March 18, 2024, the day the hunger strike began, Mleczko spoke  at a USF Board of Trustees meeting, where he said: “Your…investments are already political when you invest in a genocide.” Mleczko continued  addressing the board: “There’s immense blood on your hands…there’s complicity on your hands…We all know you don’t give a f**k about students here at USF!” So when you accuse Israel of "genocide" and "immense blood," how it is inaccurate to say Mleczko "spread hatred of Israel"?  To get a sense of the Carless chronicle, just check out the bold subheads sympathizing with the left-wing extremists:  'I get hundreds of death threats' Job prospects in jeopardy? Elements of a blacklist Many activists stand firm Naturally, Carless then went looking for "experts" to affirm his left-wing thesis:  Experts told USA TODAY that students listed on the website have reason to worry about their prospects.  L. Ali Khan, a law professor at the Washburn University School of Law in Topeka, Kansas, who published a commentary about Canary Mission in Jurist news last November, noted tenured professors are insulated from harm to their reputations, but not students.   “If you’re a student, you are much more vulnerable,” he said. “If somehow you get on this Canary Mission list, now there is a presumption that you are mongering hatred … and that’s scary.” Students also have to deal with the psychological fallout of being labeled hateful or antisemitic, Khan said.  “I think the sponsors of this website, they know all this,” Khan said. “It hits your emotional integrity − your intellectual integrity. You begin to feel less than you were before you were labeled as a hater.”  In short, leftists can stand being accurately quoted saying hateful things. Click on the link to Khan's article, and you can tell who's interested in "blacklisting." Khan called Canary Mission a "criminal enterprise" that should be banned from the internet:  Concrete corrective steps must be taken to shut down criminal enterprises that play with American professors’ lives, liberty, employment, tenure, and professional integrity. The hosting service must bring down the Canary Mission website for its intimidation and harassment of professors, many new to the academy and many belonging to vulnerable minorities. Memo to Will Carless: doesn't that sound like....EXTREMISM?

Weeks after hosting ritzy fundraiser for Biden, George Clooney calls for his replacement: 'It's devastating to say it'

Hollywood actor George Clooney called for President Joe Biden to drop out of the presidential race only weeks after he stood next to him at a million-dollar campaign fundraiser in California. Clooney wrote Wednesday that he loved and respected Biden but that Democrats would lose the election if the 81-year-old insisted on staying in the race. 'The one battle he cannot win is the fight against time.' "I love Joe Biden. As a senator. As a vice president and as president. I consider him a friend, and I believe in him. Believe in his character. Believe in his morals. In the last four years, he's won many of the battles he's faced," Clooney wrote in the New York Times. "But the one battle he cannot win is the fight against time. None of us can. It's devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fund-raiser was not the Joe 'big F-ing deal' Biden of 2010. He wasn't even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate."Former Obama speechwriter Jon Favreau told CNN that he was at the same fundraiser for Biden and "every single person I talked to at the fundraiser thought the same thing" as Clooney's observation. "I was there and Clooney was exactly right," he added. Political strategist David Axelrod called the op-ed "devastating" and "impactful." 'Would it be messy? Yes. Democracy is messy.'Clooney went on to address the argument against Biden dropping out that it would be far too complicated and chaotic. "Would it be messy? Yes. Democracy is messy. But would it enliven our party and wake up voters who, long before the June debate, had already checked out? It sure would," Clooney continued. "The short ramp to Election Day would be a benefit for us, not a danger," he added. "It would give us the chance to showcase the future without so much opposition research and negative campaigning that comes with these ridiculously long and expensive election seasons."A campaign official responded to the Clooney op-ed by telling CNN that the actor had left the fundraiser three hours before Biden did, implying that Biden had greater stamina than Clooney. "Ok," Jake Tapper replied sarcastically. Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors, sign up for our newsletters, and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!
