Over 100,000 Residents Under Evacuation Orders Amid Southern California Fires

The devastating fires in Southern California have destroyed thousands of buildings, burned tens of thousands of acres, and forced hundreds of thousands of residents to evacuate. “Drone footage shows the devastating aftermath of the LA fires which have destroyed thousands of homes. At this time, five people are deceased, over 2,000 structures have burned down and at least 130,000 residents are under evacuation order,” Collin Rugg wrote. “Unfortunately, forecasters warn that fire weather will likely continue through Friday night. Firefighters have made ‘big gains’ fighting the Sunset Fire in Hollywood, stopping the fire from burning any homes, according to the LA Times,” he added. WATCH: Per CNN: Firefighters have spent days doing whatever possible to fight fires across the county as strong winds and low humidity made for difficult conditions. Here is where the fires stand, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection: Palisades Fire: At least 15,832 acres and 0% contained. Eaton Fire: At least 10,600 acres and 0% contained. Hurst Fire: At least 855 acres and 10% contained. Lidia Fire: At least 348 acres and 40% contained. Sunset Fire: At least 60 acres and 0% contained. With wind speeds easing, helicopters were able to get back in the air and drop water and fire retardants on Wednesday in an effort to contain the fires and protect property, having previously been disrupted by high winds. The inferno has destroyed at least 2,000 building structures (damage estimates in the tens of billions of dollars) and forced 130,000 residents to evacuate their homes. Meanwhile, a new fire ignited overnight in the Hollywood Hills area. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection’s latest update on Thursday morning shows that the Palisades Fire has burned through more than 17,200 acres, while the Eaton Fire has expanded to 10,000. Both fires still have zero containment. Also, the Hurst fire has spread to nearly 900 acres, 10% of which are contained, while the Lidia Fire has burned 350 acres, 40% of which are contained. The newest, the Sunset Fire, was sparked on Wednesday night in Hollywood Hills and has grown to dozens of acres. According to Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna, at least 130,000 people are under evacuation warnings or orders due to the Palisades and Eaton fires. WATCH:

Hunter Biden’s Rental Home Destroyed In Southern California Fire

Hunter Biden’s luxury Malibu rental home was destroyed in the Pacific Palisades fire, Daily Mail reports. “My son lives out here and his wife. They got a notification yesterday their home was probably burned to the ground,” Joe Biden said, according to the outlet. “Today, it appears that maybe [it’s] still standing, but I’m not sure,” he added. Gone is the picturesque, white-painted property with floor-to-ceiling windows and in its place, a charred mass of crumbled masonry with only two chimney stacks still standing. The luxury rental once boasted a gourmet kitchen, and a ‘guest studio with private balcony overlooking the ocean that creates the perfect artistic space’. The studio was used by Hunter to work on the paintings he uses to fund his lifestyle, although any still there have also been wiped out. Also destroyed in the blaze was the neighboring home which had been rented by Hunter’s Secret Service protection detail for an eyewatering $16,000-a-month – the tab picked up by the US taxpayer. The house is one of several Malibu rentals Hunter has occupied in recent years. His previous residence was also in the beach city. That Spanish-style pad cost him $20,000-a-month while his security detail were put up in an even more lavish property next door – at a cost of $30,000-a-month. They got a notification yesterday their home was probably burned to the ground. Today, it appears that maybe [it’s] still standing, but I’m not sure.” Hunter Biden spent much of his father’s presidency staying at a luxury mansion in Malibu, California, but it’s not clear if the elder Biden was referring to that home during Wednesday’s briefing.
