In the wake of President Joe Biden’s disastrous debate performance Thursday night, Democrats are panicking. Just weeks ago, though, they were assuring us the president was just fine, asking us in the spirit of the Marx Brothers, “Well, who are you gonna believe? Me or your own eyes?” Here are some of the Biden allies who defended the president’s mental capacity against “right-wing propaganda” as recently as this month. 1. Nancy Pelosi Just this month, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) slammed The Wall Street Journal for reporting on Democrats who said that behind closed doors, Biden is showing signs of mental slipping. Chuck Schumer In February, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) defended Biden against a special counsel’s report saying the president has a “poor memory.” “I talk to President Biden regularly. Usually several times in a week. His mental acuity is great, it’s fine, it’s as good as it’s been over the years,” Schumer told reporters. “I’ve been speaking to him for 30 years since we worked on the Brady Bill, the assault weapons ban when I was a young congressman,” Schumer said. “He’s fine. All this right-wing propaganda that his mental acuity has declined is wrong.” 3. Biden Campaign Co-Chair Mitch Landrieu In February, Mitch Landrieu, co-chairman of Biden’s reelection campaign, said that suggestions the president is mentally unfit for office are a “bucket of BS.” “I’m telling you this guy’s tough, he’s smart, he’s on his game,” Landrieu said on MSNBC. “When you’re going to brief the president, you’d better have your big boy pants on. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz In January, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) accused those criticizing Biden’s mental capacity of “ageism.” “I’ve spent a lot of time with the president, and he’s great,” Walz said on NBC. “We’re talking, we’re chatting and all this, and I think, you know, we all get a little older, that’s what happens. But you also gain that insight, I think, when it comes to these issues, working across the aisle to get things done. You see the president just doing this with dignity, doing it with class, getting up every day, doing the work. Congressman Dan Goldman In February, Representative Dan Goldman (D-NY) went as far as to say that Biden is “sharper” than anyone he has spoken to about the Hamas attack on Israel. “I was in Israel on October 7 as you know, and President Biden was nice enough to call me,” Goldman said on CNN. “I can tell you he was sharper than anyone I’ve spoken to about a very complex, geopolitical, urgent issue.” Delusional Democrat Rep. Illinois Governor JB Pritzker Also in February, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker (D) said it was “extremely unfair” for a “Trump appointee,” referring to special counsel Robert Hur, to “offer his own opinions about the mental acuity or age” of the president. “I’ve been with the President of the United States many times,” Pritzker said. “He is on the ball. The man knows more than most of us have forgotten.” 9. Senator Chris Coons Just three weeks ago, Senator Chris Coons (D-DE) insisted that Biden showed not evidence of “mental feebleness,” but is in fact “sharp and commanding.” “Of course Joe Biden is over 80 years old, and like any human being over 80 years old, that means there’s a little diminished energy,” Coons told Politico. “I think what is highlighted in some of the, in my view, attack reels that I see on other news outlets is not evidence of mental feebleness but is either evidence of a lifelong stutter, or the result of having an incredibly demanding schedule and having served in public life 50 years,” he said. “When I say that I find him sharp and commanding, and I have no concerns about his mental acuity, I’m being honest.” 10. Senator Raphael Warnock A year ago this month, Senator Raphael Warnock (D-GA) dismissed concerns about Biden’s age, saying “he’s doing just fine.” Warnock said at an Axios event he thinks Biden “will go down as certainly one of the most effective presidents we’ve seen, certainly in my lifetime.”

The Iowa Supreme Court ruled on Friday that a law banning abortion when an unborn baby’s heartbeat can be detected can take effect in a victory for pro-life advocates. In a 4-3 decision, the court said that protecting unborn babies when their heartbeats can be detected is a legitimate state interest. The decision means that Iowa’s previous 20-week limit on abortion will soon be around six weeks once the court’s ruling officially takes effect. “We have previously held that abortion is not a fundamental right under the Iowa Constitution,” Justice Matthew McDermott wrote for the majority. “Applying our established tiers of scrutiny, we hold that abortion restrictions alleged to violate the due process clause are subject to the rational basis test. Employing that test here, we conclude that the fetal heartbeat statute is rationally related to the state’s legitimate interest in protecting unborn life.” “We thus reverse the district court order entering the temporary injunction blocking enforcement of the fetal heartbeat statute and remand for further proceedings,” McDermott wrote. The state was sued by Planned Parenthood and the American Civil Liberties Union after Governor Kim Reynolds signed the heartbeat bill into law after Republican lawmakers passed it during a special session last year. The law includes exceptions for rape and incest. In a dissenting opinion, Chief Justice Susan Christensen claimed the law was a setback for women. “Today, our court’s majority strips Iowa women of their bodily autonomy by holding that there is no fundamental right to terminate a pregnancy under our state constitution,” she wrote. “The majority’s rigid approach relies heavily on the male-dominated history and traditions of the 1800s, all the while ignoring how far women’s rights have come since the Civil War era.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP Iowa Republicans celebrated the ruling from the court. “There is no right more sacred than life, and nothing more worthy of our strongest defense than the innocent unborn,” Reynolds said in a statement. “As the heartbeat bill finally becomes law, we are deeply committed to supporting women in planning for motherhood, and promoting fatherhood and its importance in parenting.” House Speaker Pat Grassley said that courts had stood in the way of pro-life protections for a long time. “This ruling is a victory in the fight to protect unborn children in Iowa,” Grassley said. “The Legislature is elected by the people, and for too long, the courts have stood in the way of Iowans having their voices heard on this matter.”

Barstool founder Dave Portnoy called an “emergency press conference” and suggested the Democrats sent President Joe Biden out to debate because they “want to whack him.” In a video he posted on Friday on X, Portnoy told his millions of followers that he didn’t think it was an accident that the Democrats agreed to let Biden debate former President Donald Trump, suggesting it was the party’s way of removing him from the 2024 presidential ticket. The post has since gone viral with more than 1.5 million views at the time of this publication. “That was as good as Joe Biden could ever do in a debate. Before it started, I tweeted out ‘how are the Democrats allowing Joe Biden to do a debate?’” Portnoy said, playing clips of Biden, calling him “a vegetable” and saying he “belongs in a nursing home.” “The Democrats had to know that,” he added. “Why would you agree to a debate with Biden. At this stage, the earliest debate of all time, when you know he’s gone. I said this ten months ago, 11 months ago when [California Gov.] Gavin Newsom was in China being an idiot playing basketball with these little Chinese kids…” The Barstool founder said at the time that Newsom was going to run for president and questioned in the clip on Friday why else would a governor take a tour of the world. “Because he knew and the Democrats knew Joe Biden is gone. He’s gone,” Portnoy said. “And they need somebody else. And this is the scary part, like I said, Gavin Newsom is poison.” “Gavin Newsom is everything that is wrong with every politician in the world,” he added. “He’s the guy who ruined California, strictest lockdowns during COVID.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP He then talked about how Newsom closed public beaches, forced everyone to wear a mask even outside, and then was caught on camera out having dinner with friends at the French Laundry in Napa Valley with no mask in sight. “Rules for thee, not for me,” he added. “Gavin Newsom, he is going to be the Democratic [nominee], and I’m telling you right now, the guy is poison.” Earlier in the video, Portnoy talked about how everyone has said how “how bad Joe Biden looked.” “And I’m not talking Republicans and the Trump people. I’m talking the Democrats, CNN, just shoveling dirt on him,” Portnoy said. “Being like, ‘He didn’t do what he had to do. He looked weak. We may have to make a change.’” In the clip, the founder of Barstool played several clips of members of the media reacting to Biden’s disastrous debate performance. One person in the video was CNN’s Chris Wallace, who said, “I think the question answers itself, he wasn’t capable of doing any better than he did.” CNN host Van Jones was another who added, “That was painful. We’re still far from our convention and there is time for this party to figure out a different way forward if he will allow us to do that.”

“We finally beat Medicare.” That was just one of the many astonishing things that President Joe Biden said, or tried to say, in his Thursday night face-off with President Donald J. Trump. The de facto Democrat and Republican standard bearers parried for 90 minutes on CNN. The normally rabid, Trump-hating moderators, Dana Bash and Jake Tapper, rose to the occasion and asked both candidates tough, fair, and relevant questions. The opponents debated each other, not the anchors. Three cheers for that. Biden earned zero cheers, however, for his many lies. Three slices of disinformation were especially egregious: First, Biden said, “I’m the only president this century that doesn’t have any this—this decade, that doesn’t have any troops dying anywhere in the world, like he [Trump] did.” This is totally false. Just ask Biden. “Jill and I join the families and friends of our fallen— and Americans across the country — in grieving the loss of these warriors in this despicable and wholly unjust attack,” Biden declared after three US GIs were killed, and 34 wounded, in a Jan. 28 assault in Jordan. Biden added: “While we are still gathering the facts of this attack, we know it was carried out by radical Iran-backed militant groups operating in Syria and Iraq.” Biden’s lie also erased the 13 Marines whom a terrorist suicide bomber murdered outside Kabul’s airport during Biden’s shambolic Afghan retreat in August 2021. Things most assuredly would have gone far less fatally had a reelected President Trump exited, as he said, “with dignity, with strength, with power.” Second—regarding Charlottesville, Virginia’s race riots—Biden asked: “What American president would ever say, Nazis coming out of fields, carrying torches, singing the same anti-Semitic bile, carrying swastikas, were ‘fine people?’” Snopes’ non-mega-MAGA fact checkers demolished this lie. “No, Trump Did Not Call Neo-Nazis and White Supremacists ‘Very Fine People,’” Snopes announced June 20. It rated this claim “False.” Trump told journalists on Aug. 15, 2017: “But you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides,” some of whom wished to preserve a local statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee, and others who wanted it gone. Biden deliberately conceals Trump’s key sentence, in the same answer, 49 seconds later: “I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists, because they should be condemned totally.” Trump’s words —“condemned totally”—turn Biden’s beloved “very fine people” talking point into a total lie.   Third, Biden said, “I was recently in France for D-Day…I went to the World War II cemetery—World War I cemetery he [Trump] refused to go to. He was standing with his four-star general, and he told him—he said, ‘I don’t want to go in there because they’re a bunch of losers and suckers.’ My son who served in Iraq was not a loser. He was not a sucker. You’re the sucker. You’re the loser.” Biden keeps repeating this lie despite the work of yours truly and other journalists who dismantled Jeffrey Goldberg’s lie-clogged “story” in Sept. 3, 2020’s The Atlantic. In short, Goldberg cited four anonymous sources who claimed that Trump avoided honoring these fallen American soldiers from the Great War because they were “losers” and “suckers,” and he did not want the rain to moisten his hair. My 16 named sources accompanied Trump in Paris. They said, on the record, that Trump never called these war dead “losers” or “suckers.” Trump’s military aides scotched the cemetery stop due to rain and low clouds. The Secret Service’s safety and logistical concerns nixed helicopter and motorcade travel. Trump postponed his Nov. 11, 2018, departure so he could visit the Suresnes American Cemetery near Paris.
