Tim Walz: ‘I Don’t Think People Care Whether’ I’ve Lied Repeatedly

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) said over the weekend that he does not believe that anyone cares about the numerous lies that he has been caught telling. Walz made the remarks during a “Fox News Sunday” interview with host Shannon Bream when confronted over numerous lies he’s told that have been exposed since he became Vice President Kamala Harris’ vice presidential running mate. Walz has claimed that his lies were nothing more than him making “misstatements.” “You’ve modified your story or explained that you misspoke about things involving your military rank, about carrying a weapon in war, your 1995 DUI arrest, using IVF to have your beautiful children, being in Hong Kong and China in the summer of 1989 during the Tiananmen events,” Bream said. “A lot of people would say they couldn’t get away with saying, ‘I’m just too passionate. My grammar is not right. I’m a knucklehead,'” Bream continued. “What do you say to the American people who think I don’t know that I can trust this guy with all those modifications to be the potential commander in chief of this country?” Walz responded by saying that he believes that people “heard” him “speaking passionately” about issues where he made false claims. “I don’t think people care whether I used IUI or IVF,” he continued, before lying again when he falsely claimed that former President Donald Trump opposed IVF and other similar treatments. He claimed that he was very proud of his record and that he has “never disparaged” someone else, even though he has repeatedly lied about Trump on the campaign trail. He claimed that he would “own up when I misspeak.” Bream responded: “And if we’re going to deal in truth, both the president, the former president, and his nominee, have said that they are very supportive of IVF.” WATCH: Tim Walz on his litany of lies, including Stolen Valor, his DUI arrest being the result of hearing damage, and being in Hong Kong for the Tiananmen Square massacre: “I don’t think people care.” 25 seconds later: “I will own up when I misspeak.” pic.twitter.com/Yx0yAKSxzs — Trump War Room (@TrumpWarRoom) October 6, 2024

Tom Cotton Shreds Kristen Welker As She Tries To Defend Biden-Harris’ Disastrous Hurricane Response

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) torched left-wing NBC News host Kristen Welker on Sunday for suggesting that former President Donald Trump was making false claims about the Biden-Harris administration’s disastrous response to Hurricane Helene. Cotton fielded the activist-minded questions from Welker Sunday on NBC News’ “Meet The Press” while talking about FEMA funds and the staggering amount of money that the administration has given to illegal aliens. “Trump has made, quite frankly, a series of baseless claims, including that the Biden administration is intentionally withholding aid from areas where Republicans live, also saying that FEMA funds are being redirected to migrants.” “Both those claims have been debunked,” she claimed. “They’re false.” When asked why Trump was “confusing people,” Cotton fired back: “I don’t think he’s confusing anyone. I think the administration did get caught flat-footed here and that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have been proven to be over-matched by events again.” He said that the Biden-Harris administration failed by not activating the military immediately to assist with rescue operations, which led to hundreds of people being killed. “The simple fact is we’re more than a week on, we’re still not conducting recovery operations,” he later added. “They’re still engaged in rescue operations because Kamala Harris and Joe Biden were slow to answer the bell here. They were slow-footed, and they were over matched by events. You even had the secretary of Homeland Security saying there’s not enough money left in the fund. So it is the case that the administration itself, the secretary who oversees FEMA, said there’s not enough money left in the fund. And they have been spending billions of dollars for the last four years to move migrants from our border, to put them up in hotels, and give them room service and maids. That’s simply a fact.” When Welker sought to defend the administration by claiming that the money was not from disaster relief, Cotton fired back: “It is true that FEMA and the Department of Homeland Security have been spending billions of dollars on migrants.” “Now, I understand some people say they’re separate funds, but we just passed a short-term spending bill,” Cotton said. “It’s very common for the administration to come and ask for permission to move money between funds, especially to prepare for emergencies.” “And, second, I would note that this administration seems to have no problem finding money when they want to spend it on their priorities,” he continued. “When they need hundreds of billions of dollars to pay off student loans for graduate students in gender studies programs they somehow find it. When it’s trying to get helicopters to deliver food and water and cellular service and life-saving medicine into these mountain valleys, they somehow can’t seem to find the money.” WATCH: Welker: “Do you think this is a time to falsehoods aside like FEMA funds being redirected to migrant?” Sen. @TomCottonAR: “It is true that FEMA and DHS have been spending billions of dollars on migrants… This administration seems to have no problem finding money when they want… pic.twitter.com/SGgxZ7BcHZ — Trump War Room (@TrumpWarRoom) October 6, 2024

SALTY: CNN’s Dana Bash Angrily LECTURES Arizona’s Trump-Voting Latinos

CNN’s Dana Bash, channeling Univision’s Jorge Ramos, ended her interview of U.S. Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ) by questioning how Hispanics in that state might vote for Donald Trump. The whole thing, quite frankly, reeked of elite bigotry. If you close your eyes, you can sense the smug sense of leftwing entitlement emanating from your television set or mobile device as Bash rants: CNN STATE OF THE UNION 10/6/24 9:27 AM DANA BASH: Senator, before I let you go, you of course, are from Arizona. That is a neck and neck state as well. I want to ask you about a key constituency there. A Marist poll showed last month that Trump and Harris are effectively tied among Latino voters in Arizona. Four years ago, Joe Biden won Latinos by 24 percentage points. Why is she underforming(sic)- underperforming so dramatically in that voting group? MARK KELLY: Well, I did, you know, tight races in 2020 and 2022. You know, polls in Arizona. They can bounce around a little bit. I will say this: just like the Muslim community in- in Michigan, the Latino community in the state of Arizona is going to benefit significantly from a Kamala Harris presidency. Harris and Walz are committed to their values. These are often middle-class and working class folks. You know, they're not monolithic on issues. But Kamala Harris cares about them and cares about their families. When you consider the way Donald Trump talks about immigrants and talks about people of color, my hope is that over the next 30 days that that starts to resonate with folks more in the state of Arizona, and she can win the state. I'm confident that she's going to win Arizona. She's going to be elected the next President of the United States. Obviously, in the next 30 days, we have some work to do. BASH: Yeah, I'll say. And certainly, at those voters who were saying that they are interested in voting for Donald Trump, particularly Latino voters. They've heard all the things that Donald Trump has said for the past eight years, and it's still really remarkable the way that it is tied among those key voters in your state. At a bare minimum, Bash is guilty of crass insensitivity towards a segment of the electorate that she clearly knows nothing about. At worst, Bash is simply displaying the left’s gross sense of entitlement, not just to the Latino vote but to the community itself. Bash very carefully tries to condemn an electorate that, just like every other demographic across the nation, has been hammered by high inflation, high food prices, high cost of shelter, high cost of insurance. And just like every other demographic across the nation, Latinos are disgusted at what is going on at the southern border, a significant portion of which runs through Arizona. But Bash, like a significant majority of the left, sees Latinos as being obligated to vote solely on matters of racial rhetoric, and solely in reaction to “things that Donald Trump” has said. This thinking is most recently embodied by MSNBC contributor Paola Ramos, who in furtherance of her book tour went on The Daily Show and said: “Anyways, long short, I think what Trumpism does really well as many think about the Latino voting bloc, they're betting on this one idea. And that is the fact that there are some Latinos that are so Americanized and assimilated now that they too will sort of buy into the nativism. That they too will look at, here are the words, ‘Send them back,’ and not at all see themselves reflected in that ‘them.’” Just so you know, when Ramos says “Americanized” and “assimilated” she really means “aligned to whiteness”: "For so many years the story of 'Latinidad'...revolved around this idea that... in order to achieve the American Dream, our parents or the older generation of Latinos...had to get as aligned as possible to whiteness...assimilate, and conform to this idea...of what Latinos were." pic.twitter.com/MuSoBOiPDy — Jorge Bonilla (@BonillaJL) December 8, 2021 Whether Bash simply regurgitated something she read while on the toilet a few hours earlier, or held these deep-seated bigotries for a long time is not for me to determine or relevant to this conversation. What is problematic is the Regime Media now vocally beginning the process of maligning minority communities that do not fall in line with Democrats a month ahead of the election. Expect this nonsense to intensify if polling among these communities is consistent, and especially if Trump wins.

Can America be healthy without losing its humanity?

Recent calls to “Make America Healthy Again” are a welcome message at a time of mass food production, rising heart disease and various forms of cancer, and generally sedentary lives. A recent episode of Tucker Carlson’s podcast focused on the current status of health in America, especially the increase of chronic illnesses and the medical establishment’s insistence on treating sick Americans with prescription drugs, injections, and unnecessary surgeries. Instead, as Tucker and his guests argued, we should be asking what Americans are eating and what we can do — both collectively and individually — to heal ourselves. Many factors influence this debate: Big Pharma, Big Agriculture, the medical establishment, and proper environmental stewardship without climate change ideology. Calling the corruption in all these areas “widespread” would be an understatement. How can we define moderation in a society that is full of imbalance in almost every sphere of life?Other important factors often go unnoticed in discussions about health. How we care for our bodies and minds is closely linked to Aristotelian moderation and a food culture that fosters lasting connections with others.A tunnel-vision focus on “getting healthy” can create an obsession that severely harms our relationships with friends and family. This phenomenon even has a name: orthorexia nervosa. Unlike other eating disorders, it may stem from good intentions, but counting calories can lead to an obsessive need for complete control over food selection and preparation. This compulsion is not always about weight but about finding the purest ingredients, turning food and eating into matters of metrics, chemistry, and constant bodily monitoring.Holiday meals and celebrations have been ruined by family members who insist that any food other than what they have chosen is poisonous and toxic. They claim allergies, to be on a perpetual diet, or that “I’m not that hungry.” They sit at the dinner table, staring at their clean plate, perhaps slightly embarrassed but mostly indignant about their dysfunction.Such people have essentially alienated themselves from any sense of community and connection with others. They often inflict such neuroses on their own children. One wonders what will become of children raised on a steady diet of joylessness and fear.Refusing a piece of fruit from a friend or family member because you can’t be sure if it’s organic is as dysfunctional as overeating and thinking that processed food has no effect on one’s health. What happened to moderation? More importantly, how can we define moderation in a society that is full of imbalance in almost every sphere of life?Aristotle deemed moderation to be one of the moral virtues, and any sort of excess is bound to destroy that virtue. This includes our bodily health, which, for Aristotle, is inevitably connected to the notion of excellence. In Book II of the “Nicomachean Ethics,” Aristotle writes that “the excellence of a human being will be that disposition which makes him a good human being and which enables him to perform his function well.” In other words, to be human is to recognize the meaning of life itself, and the possible greatness we are made for. The notion of teleology is essential for our understanding of virtue — we are not a haphazard mess but living beings who should be moving toward harmony and order. For Aristotle, both excess and deficiency will lead us away from the possibility of greatness and order, and this applies to our bodily health as well. It isn’t enough to simply measure the amount of food we eat, but we must understand that being moderate about eating and our health is a question of morality, not mere science. In other words, the decisions we make to steer away from excess and deficiency reveal the nature of our character.Another element in this debate that is woefully missing has to do with food culture. Ideally, we share a meal with someone — a figurative or literal breaking of bread. There is a sacred dimension to all of this — the enjoyment of food is not simply based on appetite but on joy and gratitude for those around us.I am reminded of Isak Dinesen’s short story “Babette’s Feast,” which encapsulates the joy and gratitude inherent in eating and sharing a meal with others. Babette Hersant is a French refugee in 19th-century Denmark, where she works as a housekeeper for two unmarried sisters. Babette wins the lottery, and instead of going back to France, she decides to make a feast for the sisters and their guests as a sign of gratitude and appreciation of being in their home. The sisters live an ascetic life, and Babette’s meal awakens their senses. They not only feel enjoyment of eating but also of relating to the guests at the table. Instead of ascetic moralism, the sisters begin to show vulnerability that opens the possibility of forming a much deeper relationship with Babette. One of the guests, Colonel Löwenhielm, is so taken by the feast that he decides to give a speech toasting this bounty and beautiful creation. “Man, my friends,” says the Colonel, “is frail and foolish. But in our human foolishness and short-sightedness we imagine divine grace to be finite. For this reason, we tremble. … But the moment comes when our eyes are opened, and we see and realize that our eyes are opened, and we see and realize that grace is infinite.”This moment could only have come from an authentic connection between human beings and not through overeating or orthorexia, which inevitably lead to alienation and atomization.Self-governance in all matters — resisting the influence of government, Big Pharma, or any other corrupt establishment to alter our behavior or nature — lies at the heart of personal freedom. But this depends on one crucial element: virtue. When virtue, especially moderation, is present and paired with joy and gratitude, food and health go beyond mere statistics and become a pathway to human greatness.Editor’s note: A version of this article appeared originally at the American Mind.
