Trump Reveals Who Will Lead His Transition Team If He Wins

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump revealed on Friday that two major donors and two of his sons will lead his transition team if he wins a second term in the White House. Trump tapped former Small Business Administration (SBA) head Linda McMahon and businessman Howard Lutnick to lead the transition team. Trump’s running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH), and his sons, Donald Jr. and Eric, will serve as “honorary chairs” of the team, The Hill reported. “The 2024 GOP Platform to Make America Great Again is a forward-looking agenda that will deliver safety, prosperity and freedom for the American people. My administration will deliver on these bold promises,” Trump said in a statement. “We will restore strength, competence and common sense to the Oval Office. I have absolute confidence the Trump-Vance Administration will be ready to govern effectively on Day One.” McMahon, the wife of former WWE CEO Vince McMahon, led the SBA during Trump’s first term in office and has recently been in charge of the pro-Trump think tank America First Policy Institute. Lutnick, the billionaire head of financial firm Cantor Fitzgerald, hosted a fundraiser for Trump earlier this month where around 100 people joined the Republican nominee in the Hamptons, according to Bloomberg. Tickets for “Am I Racist?” are on sale NOW! Buy here for a theater near you. Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump held influential positions in their father’s first administration and would once again take on advisory roles if Trump wins in November. Donald Jr. said during the Republican National Convention that he wants “veto power” over who his father picks to serve in a second Trump administration. “I want to block the liars. I want to block the guys that are, you know, pretending they’re with you. I just want to block the bad actors. I just want to be a block. That’s it,” he said. Donald Jr. and Eric reportedly urged their father to select Vance as his running mate. Trump’s selection of two business-oriented supporters to lead his transition team comes as no surprise as the former president seeks to hammer home his message on the economy on the campaign trail. This week, the Republican nominee held an event in North Carolina and a press conference in New Jersey where he slammed the Biden-Harris administration’s handling of the economy and inflation. In Asheville, North Carolina, Trump called on his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, to “explain” the economic “suffering” Americans currently face. WATCH THE TRAILER FOR ‘AM I RACIST?’ — A MATT WALSH COMEDY ON DEI “Kamala Harris wants to talk about her fantasies … she wants to talk for the future about these fantasies, but really what she needs to explain is the present suffering that she has caused along with Joe Biden,” Trump said. Harris was blasted earlier this week for proposing price controls to address inflation, blaming cost increases on “corporate greed” and ignoring the Biden-Harris administration’s economic and energy policies. “Now Kamala is reportedly proposing communist price controls, she wants price controls,” Trump said on Thursday at his press conference in Bedminster, New Jersey. “And if they worked, I’d go along with it, too, but they don’t work. They exactly have the exact opposite impact and effect … it leads to food shortages, rationing, hunger, dramatically more inflation.” PRESIDENT TRUMP: Now, Kamala is proposing communist price controls — which DON’T WORK! All they do is lead to food shortages, rationing, and bread lines. pic.twitter.com/hnkGFAjw1l — Trump War Room (@TrumpWarRoom) August 15, 2024

4 Suspects Arrested In Fatal Shooting Of ‘General Hospital’ Actor

Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of “General Hospital” actor Johnny Wactor, which occurred May 25 as he tried to stop thieves from stealing his catalytic converter. Law enforcement officials told the Los Angeles Times that they had focused their investigation on members of the Florencia 13 gang, as they were known for stealing catalytic converters in the area. Wactor was shot and killed when he approached a group of individuals near his car in the early morning hours. Robert Barceleau, 18, of Huntington Park; Leonel Gutierrez, 18, of Los Angeles County; Sergio Estrada, 18, of Los Angeles County; and Frank Olano, 22, of Inglewood, were all arrested.  Tickets for “Am I Racist?” are on sale NOW! Buy here for a theater near you. Barceleau, Gutierrez, and Estrada were taken into custody on suspicion of murder, while Olano is believed to have been an accessory, per the local ABC affiliate. The three main suspects were held Thursday in lieu of a $2 million bond. Wactor, 37, was leaving his job as a bartender with a friend over Memorial Day weekend when the killing occurred. A witness, Anita Joy, said they first thought the vehicle was being towed when they came upon the individuals near Wactor’s car. But then they realized the suspects were trying to steal the catalytic converter. When Wactor tried to intervene, he was shot and later died from his injuries, as The Daily Wire previously reported. The late actor’s brother, friends, and family made a plea to officials to help stop the violence during an organized march on City Hall in June.  “The message is pretty obvious…they want safe streets and justice,” Wactor’s brother Grant said at the time. “I don’t live here, so I didn’t realize how bad the situation already was for any of this to even happen … apparently this has been a problem that has needed to be fixed for a while, so someone has to fix it.” WATCH THE TRAILER FOR ‘AM I RACIST?’ — A MATT WALSH COMEDY ON DEI Los Angeles Democratic Mayor Karen Bass commented on the arrests made on Thursday. “I want to thank LAPD for their partnership and hard work on this case and for their continued efforts to keep Angelenos safe and to bring justice to victims of violence,” she said. “Now, we must ensure that those who are responsible for this brazen and heinous act are held fully accountable.”

Playing Reagan: Dennis Quaid Isn’t The First Actor To Play The Gipper

Playing Reagan: Dennis Quaid Isn’t The First Actor To Play The Gipper

Conservatives won’t get sucker punched while watching “Reagan.” The Aug. 30 release, featuring Dennis Quaid as the iconic GOP leader, wasn’t made in Liberal Hollywood. Quaid’s affection for the Gipper is another clue. He’s been sharing his warm feelings for the 40th president across media outlets for some time now. Need more? Consider the cast, which includes openly conservative actors like Robert Davi, Kevin Sorbo and Jon Voight. The chances of “Reagan” being a two-hour hit piece hover between slim and none, with Vegas money on the latter. That hasn’t always been the case when it comes to capturing Reagan on screens large and small. Screenwriters have found Reagan irresistible, but they haven’t always hewed to the truth along the way. Hollywood’s far-Left biases kept getting in the way. Project after project has attempted to belittle the GOP leader, but those efforts may have had little effect on the public’s appreciation for the two-term president. Cliff Lipson/CBS Photo Archive/Getty Images The best example is “The Reagans.” The CBS miniseries, starring James Brolin as the president and Judy Davis as Nancy Reagan, inspired a scandal so large it changed the course of its broadcast plans. The 2003 project featured several dubious scenes that made Reagan admirers howl. One draft featured Reagan dismissing AIDS sufferers with this line, “They that live in sin shall die in sin.” The quip didn’t make the final cut, but word of its inclusion drowned the project in controversy. It didn’t help that the real Reagan was alive but deep in the throes of Alzheimer’s disease and couldn’t defend himself. Tickets for “Am I Racist?” are on sale NOW! Buy here for a theater near you. The miniseries caused internal chaos at CBS leading to the network punting the project behind a cable paywall … AKA Showtime. The FX series “Fargo” used an unlikely actor to bring Reagan to life. “Evil Dead” alum Bruce Campbell briefly embodied the president in season two, set in 1979. Jason LaVeris/FilmMagic A critical scene finds Campbell’s Reagan chatting up a stranger in a men’s bathroom. There’s nothing inappropriate in the exchange, unless you’re a fan of character attacks. The future president coldly compares his work shooting World War II movies with the stranger’s actual military service. “Die Hard” favorite Alan Rickman got a crack at playing Reagan in “Lee Daniel’s The Butler” (2013). Once again, a Hollywood production did its best to mischaracterize the beloved president. The film loosely followed the true-life story of White House butler Eugene Allen, a black employee played by Forest Whitaker. Scenes showed Allen quitting the job over Reagan’s unwillingness to support South African sanctions and other indignities. Those closest to Reagan balked at the characterization, noting the leader’s strong stands against racism over the years. Plus, the real butler was reportedly fond of Reagan, undercutting what’s shown on screen. Adding insult to injury? Casting notorious Hollywood liberal Jane Fonda as Nancy Reagan. AP Photo/The Weinstein Company, Anne Marie Fox Fred Ward, known best for his role in 1990’s “Tremors,” portrayed Reagan in a French film called “Farewell.” The film recalled tense moments between the U.S. and Soviet Union in the 1980s, including an incident President Reagan referred to as, “one of the most important espionage cases of the 20th century.” Actor Jay Koch briefly played Reagan in not one but three films of various tones – 1995’s “Panther,” 1993’s “Hot Shots! Part Deux” and “Back to the Future Part II” (1989). The professional Reagan impersonator eventually met his real-life inspiration and the cameos in question lacked the partisan rage from other Hollywood projects. The very worst example of Hollywood maligning Reagan never made it to the screen, but the fact that it came up at all speaks volumes of Hollywood’s hatred of all things Reagan. Reports said that Will Ferrell was briefly attached to produce and star in a “comedy” highlighting the president’s dementia-addled days in the White House. The concept proved so toxic that Reagan’s daughter Patti Davis and son Michael Reagan publicly condemned the project. They weren’t alone. Ferrell’s representative later suggested he never officially joined the project, written by Mike Rosolio. We’ll never see a film or TV project tied to President Joe Biden’s obvious mental decline in the Oval Office, comedic or otherwise. The Reagan/Alzheimer’s script circulated in Hollywood for a while and even attracted a star-laden script reading featuring Nathan Fillion, John Cho and James Brolin, essentially reprising his previous time playing Reagan. Said script was part of “The Black List,” the insider network of beloved but unproduced screenplays. Adam McKay, a frequent Ferrell contributor and hardcore Leftist, defended the project.  I kept saying when that story snowballed, ‘Is there anyone who really thinks Will Ferrell would make a comedy about a horrible disease like Alzheimer’s?’ In a million years no one would do that! A script review conducted by The Hollywood Reporter suggested the film was as offensive as originally advertised. But it does revolve around the conceit that the 40th president had no knowledge of where he was or what he was doing throughout his entire second term.  Insiders say the real Reagan did not display signs of his eventual Alzheimer’s diagnosis in his final years in the White House. Others disagreed, including son Ron Reagan. A New York Times medical writer Larry Altman investigated the topic extensively and disagreed with the young Reagan’s assessment. The film site IMDB.com lists the screenplay as “in development,” but there have been no sizable updates on the project in the press. We don’t know what Quaid’s “Reagan” will share until it opens nationwide. It’s clear the project will be a starkly different Reagan than ones we’ve seen before from La La Land. * * * Christian Toto is an award-winning journalist, movie critic and editor of HollywoodInToto.com. Exploring Remedies To ‘Chronic Singleness,’ Part II

Exploring Remedies To ‘Chronic Singleness,’ Part II

For a couple months now, Gen Z has taken to TikTok in droves to address their concern of being “chronically single.” Generally, when you have a “chronic” illness, you do your best to find a solution, which is what they’re doing. They go on dates semi-regularly, they’re open to being introduced to other people, and they’re willing to try blind dates, but none of these methods seem to be working. So, is there a remedy to this chronic ailment? Potentially.  Opposite those who are “chronically single” is another group called “repeat offenders,” according to TikTok. It seems that these people have just given up on finding someone to date seriously while letting their standards slip in the process, so they have just become repeat offenders to fill the void. The comments are divided. While some say they “live for the plot” and are too bored to stay single, others say they would much rather be chronically single than dating a different man each week: Although the opportunity to get emotionally or physically involved with someone may seem appealing, even if the person isn’t right for you, that will only cause you pain. That type of companionship or method of filling a void will not be worth the hurt it brings in the end.  Perhaps the most powerful takeaway from the chronically single trend I have seen is that people are not lowering their standards or entering into desperation mode. This girl puts it squarely into perspective: She acknowledges the unwarranted bad advice singles receive, and then mentions that when a dating situation doesn’t work out, other people are quick to shower you with pity, say how sorry they are, and ask how long you’ve been single, which she has some strong opinions about. Her main point is that she thinks the longer you’re single, the more adamant you become on not settling. Lots of comments concurred: My husband was 28 when we met, and by the internet’s definition, he was chronically single. He never felt like any of the women he went on a date with were right for him — so he just kept looking. When I met him, I respected the fact he’d never been in a relationship because it showed me he was dating with intention. He valued himself enough not to waste his time going after random girls at bars just to have the satisfaction of being with someone. WATCH: The Comments Section with Brett Cooper on DailyWire+ Waiting and checking boxes was a common sentiment among both the men and the women in this comment section. If anything, the singles’ standards seem to be getting stronger as they mature and gain more confidence in what they want in a significant other, which I think is positive — so long as your standards don’t include a list of unnecessary “icks.” If your standards include mutual respect, shared values, and common ground in a relationship, keep them high. A girl posted this TikTok talking about just this:   One comment honed in on a truly sincere and valid statement: She’s a hopeless romantic living in a hook-up culture world. This is incredibly hard for people who have traditional values because those values have gone out of practice in the dating world. Yet this girl has so much clarity and maturity. She isn’t going out and seeking attention from every man she meets, nor has she made dating or hooking up her identity — quite the contrary. At the same time, finding someone to be in a relationship with is on her mind because it’s important to her and she’s not going about it frivolously. RELATED: ‘Chronic Singleness.’ Let’s Talk About It. Part I My takeaway after watching all these TikTokers document their chronically single experiences was: I don’t know exactly what to say because everyone has different experiences as to how they found their significant others. By no means do I want to spew cliches. And more than just giving relentless advice, my hope is to break down the problems people are facing in the dating landscape, break down the dating landscape in and of itself so that we can find solutions. Singles don’t need more advice. They need phone numbers. So be the help, connect your friends, and become part of the solution. This is a huge issue in our culture, and there has to be a way to fix this. So let’s stop with the unhelpful advice and start making connections. * * * Tickets for “Am I Racist?” are on sale NOW! Sighting Of A Lifetime: Divers Come Across Incredibly Rare Shark Species

Divers like Mitchell Hewitt get the chance to see all sorts of creatures up close, but even he is shocked by a recent encounter. Also a field biologist, Mitchell and his friends set out to find a bluntnose six gill shark in Canadian waters. More specifically, at Kelvin Grove Beach Park in Lions Bay. They knew that trying to do so was a long shot. In fact, the group says that some divers go their whole lives without seeing one. Why? Because these sharks are usually only found in very deep water. That said, six gill sharks tend to make their way to more shallow water around this time of the year. They tend to do so at night, so Matthew and his friends went for a dive at 7 p.m. — just the perfect time, as it turns out! While exploring the area, the divers finally saw this elusive shark. Best of all, they captured amazing footage. See it for yourself in the video below. Group of Diver Friends Excitedly Freak Out When They Spot the Elusive Six Gill Shark “I mean, it was amazing because we were just going out, enjoying ourselves — you know, relaxing. And then we see a grey, white blob come out of the darkness,” Mitchell recalls. “And there it was, and we were all freaking out. You could hear everybody screaming into the regulators.” Best of all, the divers didn’t simply get a chance to record the shark. The young six gill shark swam with them for about 10 minutes. Matthew even says that he acted like “a big dog would,” curiously swimming between his legs. It goes to show that not all sharks are dangerous. “I just want people to realize that there are cool, big sharks in Vancouver,” Matthew says, “but they don’t pose a threat to anybody.” You can find the source of this story’s featured image here! Dog Mom Captures “Fuming” Borzoi’s Hilarious Post-Bath Tantrum

Sure, baths are shown to be good for our dogs. But have we ever considered the fact that most of them don’t want to take them? This is certainly something that Cosmo wishes his humans would take into account the next time they subject him to the horror that is bath time. Unfortunately for Cosmo, this request will continue to be denied. While there’s nothing he can do about that, there is something this adorable dog can do: throw a tantrum. Dog owners are no strangers to the ways in which a canine can throw a tantrum. Sometimes, they choose to go a more subtle route, like this fluffy dog who wanted the TV turned on immediately. Then there are four-legged friends like Cosmo. While his tantrum started off on the subtle side, when it seemed that Mom and Dad weren’t taking a hint, he took things up a notch. Watch this hilarious moment for yourself in the video below. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Cosmo the Borzoi (@cosmoborzoi) When This Hilarious Dog Throws a Tantrum, His Human Parents Can’t Help but Laugh So much drama! Even when Cosmo is trying to be subtle, his back facing his parents while he “casually” stands in the hall, he can’t help but look back to see if they’re noticing. Finally, though, he’s forced to stomp around. Having given this universal sign of disapproval, his parents give him more of the reaction he expected. In the end, Cosmo can’t stay mad at his humans for long. Until he gets another bath, of course, then he’ll probably throw a tantrum again. So goes the life of a pampered pup! “The noodle horse isn’t too happy about that bath,” someone in the comments jokes, with another adding, “I love borzois, they look like a kid’s drawing of a dog from memory, brought to life.” You can find the source of this story’s featured image here! Editor Daily Rundown: Trump Keeps Doing What Kamala Can’t

PRESTO! ... VDH: KAMALA IS NOW THE 80-DAY MAGA CANDIDATE ... VICTOR DAVIS HANSON: The Weird, Creepy, Surreal — And Dangerous — 2024 Campaign After the precedents of 2020 and 2024, is the future orthodox protocol for any Democratic nominee now to avoid all interviews and extempore speaking, and stick to teleprompted speeches and scripted responses only? Is the fear that a transparent progressive messenger with an overt and honest left-wing message will double down on it and thus guarantee defeat? [...]
