New Photo Released Shows Titanic Submersible’s Final Resting Spot

A new photo has been released which shows the Titanic submersible Titan’s final resting spot after the underwater craft imploded, killing all five of its passengers in June 2023. During the U.S. Coast Guard hearing on Monday into the cause of the implosion of the OceanGate vessel, officials revealed a photo that shows the submersible on the bottom of the ocean floor in the North Atlantic Ocean, following its final dive to see the remains of the Titanic on June 18, 2023, People magazine reported. The image shows the underwater craft with its tail cone embedded into the sea floor. The photo was taken by a remotely operated vehicle (ROV), called the Pelagic Research Services 6000, which made the discovery some 12,000 feet below the surface. ?#BREAKING: Newly released images have just revealed the wreckage of the OceanGate Titan submersible resting on the seabed, just 1,600 feet from the Titanic’s bow. The submersible tragically imploded in June 2023, killing all five onboard. pic.twitter.com/Zt0xcx7dIp — R A W S A L E R T S (@rawsalerts) September 16, 2024 Officials said during the hearing that the new photo has led to the “conclusive evidence of a catastrophic loss” of the submersible and the passengers on board. Also revealed during the hearing was the final messages from the doomed submersible Titan, with the crew messaging “all good here” only minutes before all contact was lost forever, as previously reported. Text messages between Titan and the support ship, the Polar Prince, start after the vessel left the ship around 9:20 a.m. off the coast of Canada. After about 40 minutes, routine messages between the two took a turn with the Polar Prince asking numerous times if the submersible could see the ship on its display. When there was no response, the ship started sending urgent messages. Am I Racist? Is In Theaters NOW — Get Your Tickets Here! After about 15 minutes, Titan responded that it had communication, and the Polar Prince replied, “I need better comms from you.” Titan, in turn, responded, “yes,” and said they “lost system oand [sic] chat settings.” At 10:15 a.m., the Polar Prince asked again, “status? do you see polar prince on your display?” Titan responded soon after, “yes,” and, “all good here.” Minutes later, Titan notified the Polar Prince that they were “east south east [of] the nbow [sic],” which officials suspected meant the crew had almost reached their destination, the wreckage of the Titanic. Titan then asked the Polar Prince if they were also at the bow, and Polar Prince said, “making our way there … your position jumps significantly each ping” — which the ship repeated to the Titan at 10:36. At 10:47, Titan messaged that they “dropped two [weights],” and contact was then lost almost immediately, at 10:47:32 a.m., according to the Coast Guard. That was at a depth of nearly 3,350 meters and a pressure of 4,900 pounds per square inch, the magazine noted. After the ship lost contact with Titan, a four-day rescue mission from the United States and Canada ensued including using airplanes, boats, and submersibles in the attempt to find and save the crew, Variety noted. On the fourth day, the United States Coast Guard announced that an ROV had found debris from the Titan near the Titanic. Related: Final Message From Doomed Titanic Submersible Revealed

BIGFOOT & WILDMAN Reports From Yesteryear

The following narratives are a collection of Bigfoot & wildman sightings and encounters reported by eyewitnesses to early media.Savage Attempts to Kidnap WomenMcNairy County, Tennessee - April 13, 1871 -- "We learn that between Sobby and Crainsville on what is called Piney, in McNairy County, TN a strange and frightful savage has been observed for several weeks. He is said to be seven feet high and possessed of great muscular power. His eyes are unusually large and fiery red; his hair hangs in a tangle and matted mass below his waist, and his beard reaches below his middle. His entire body is covered with hair and his whole aspect is most frightful. He shuns the sight of them but approaches with wild and horrid screams of delight every woman who is unaccompanied by a man.He sometimes with great caution, approaches houses and should he see a man he runs away with astonishing swiftness, leaping the tallest fences with the ease of a deer, defying alike the pursuit of men and dogs. He has frightened several women by attempting to carry them off, as well as by his horrid aspect and the whole country around Sobby is in consternation. The citizens are now scouring the woods and are determined either to capture or drive off the monster.” - The Jackson Tennessee Whig - April 13, 1871-----Did a Hairy Monster Stalk Tazewell County, Illinois?Monday, Nov. 06, 2006 -- PEKIN, Illinois - Thirty-four years ago in Tazewell County, 100 armed men walked the woods around East Peoria's Cole Hollow Road in search of a monster. The search was called off about 7:45 p.m. when one of the men accidentally shot himself in the foot. The creature was never found. The monster hunters were looking for was dubbed the Cohomo Monster, a beast thought to be lurking in Tazewell County in the summer of 1972.James Donahue, Tazewell County Sheriff in 1972, still remembers the infectious hysteria of that summer."At the time it was a very big deal," Donahue recently told the Pekin Daily Times. "Several people indicated they'd seen a monster up in that area. It was described as something like Bigfoot. All the neighbors showed up. We spent a lot of time up there. We never found anything to substantiate the claims. We were up there for a week or two weeks. A lot of volunteer people came out looking for this monster."On Tuesday, July 25, 1972, Creve Coeur authorities reported that a witness saw something big swimming in the Illinois River. The following evening, the Tazewell County Sheriff's Department received a call from an Eureka man who said he and his family were having a birthday party in Fondulac Park in East Peoria. The witness said he and his party saw strange lights come in a vertical position and go down behind some trees. The light allegedly left a vapor or smoke trail. That same night, more than 200 phone calls about monster sightings jammed the switchboard at the East Peoria Police Department. On July 28, a rural Pekin woman reported that she saw Cohomo while picking berries by an old coal mine. The woman told the Tazewell County Sheriff's office she was so scared she ran off, leaving her purse behind. That same night, East Peoria Police said two reliable citizens claimed they saw Cohomo. It was described as 10 feet tall. The creature's face had long, gray U-shaped ears and a red mouth with sharp teeth. The reliable citizens said the creature possessed thumbs with long second joints and looked like a cross between an ape and a caveman.Newspaper articles of the time suggest that Cohomo had a horrible smell, sometimes compared to that of a wet dog, rotten eggs, or as sulphur-like. The Cohomo craze swept over Tazewell County. It's hard to pin down exactly when and where all the excitement over the Cohomo monster started. Old articles found in the Daily Times archives blame a monster called Momo who was first spotted in rural northeastern Missouri a year before the Tazewell County sightings. One of the first Illinois reports came from Randy Emert, then 18, of Peoria, who claimed he spotted some type of hairy creature in the woods near Cole Hollow Road in Tazewell County. Emert said he didn't report seeing the monster at first because he feared people would think him crazy. In 1991, the Peoria Journal Star received a phone call from Emert, who said that he made the whole thing up. Emert told the newspaper that he and his friends made the story up to scare another friend who worked late nights at a gas station. But one remains. If Cohomo was the product of mass hallucination, caused by the sightings of a Missouri monster called Momo, why did only the citizens of Tazewell County invent the elusive beast? And although he has no idea what it may have been, Donahue says he thinks somebody may have seen something. - Nick Vogel - Pekin Daily Times-----Winsted Wildman Craze of 1895 Made Things a Little HairyWinsted, Connecticut -- Remember the Bigfoot craze of the 1970s and ‘80s? You couldn't go anywhere without hearing about a new Bigfoot sighting or seeing a television documentary about the legend of the large, apelike man who lived in the wilderness.‘The Six Million Dollar Man,' portrayed by actor Lee Majors in the 1970s television series, had a run-in or two with the big fellow. Then, in 1987, Bigfoot made his big-screen debut in ‘Harry and the Hendersons.'But, long before the hairy, 9-foot tall enigmatic beast ever hit the television screens and long before its image appeared on little boys' tin lunchboxes, a Bigfoot-esque creature was actually spotted right here in Winsted."They called him the Winsted Wildman," said Joseph Cadrain, a local historian and writer who has recounted the tale of the local Bigfoot several times. "He was seen in 1895 and the sighting caused quite a stir at the time."A stir, to say the least. The initial sighting was made "on a sultry August day" recall newspaper clippings from the time.A local town official, Selectman Riley Smith, was the first to spot the creature.Other Winsteders later supposedly saw the creature as well, but it was Smith's sighting that was given the most credibility.According to Frank Wentworth's 1929 book, ‘The Winsted Wildman and Other Tales,' Smith went up to pick berries near the Colebrook town line on Lowsaw Road in an area known then as Indian Meadow."While (Smith) was stooped over picking berries, his bulldog (Ned), which is noted for its pluck, ran with a whine to him and stationed itself between his legs," accounts from the Aug. 21, 1895 Winsted Herald reported."A second afterward a large man, stark naked and covered with hair all over his body, ran out of a clump of bushes and, with fearful yells and cries, made for the woods at lightning [sic] speed where he soon disappeared."Selectman Smith is a powerful, wiry man and has a reputation for having lots of sand, and his bulldog is also noted for his pluck, but Riley admits that he was badly scared and his dog was fairly paralyzed with fear."Word of Smith's tale spread throughout the little town quickly and it eventually piqued the interest of newspapers from New York and Boston.Soon after newsmen converged on Winsted — on what was then a very active rail service — to not only write about the incident but to try and capture the wildman and bring him back to the city on a return train trip.According to Wentworth, the gaggle of reporters were unsuccessful and all they went home with were sunburns and hangovers from the local beer.Townsfolk were scared, however, and a local posse was formed to find the mysterious creature. But like the reporters, the posse also was unsuccessful.Winsted residents speculated on who, or what, the wildman was, Cadrain said. Some newspaper reports from the time even said the wildman may have been an insane artist named Arthur Beckwith.Beckwith reportedly escaped from a New York insane asylum in 1894. But before that, Beckwith had escaped from a Litchfield asylum. He was found six months later in Cuba, living naked in the tropics and eating raw fruits and vegetables from the jungle. But Benjamin Thomas, Winsted's municipal historian, said the wildman story over the years took on a life of its own. He said most of the tale may be more fiction than fact."Something happened in 1895," Thomas said. "But townspeople talked about it and added to it over the years, that's for sure."Paul Rego has lived on Lowsaw Road, near Indian Meadow, for about 10 years. He said he's never seen anything in his rural area that even remotely resembles a Bigfoot."Nope, never seen nothing like that up here," Rego said recently. "We have some pretty wild-looking people in Winsted, but no wildman."In fact, the Web site does mention an official Bigfoot sighting in the area — in Litchfield in November of 1968, 73 years after Winsted's event."Maybe that was the Winsted Wildman's grandson," Cadrain said with a chuckle. "Who knows? The identity of the wildman was never determined, so maybe it was a Bigfoot." - American-Republican - July 13, 2002Monster Spotter's Guide to North AmericaHaunting Illinois: A Tourist's Guide to the Weird and Wild Places of the Prairie StateWeird Tennessee: Your Travel Guide to Tennessee's Local Legends and Best Kept Secrets**********PHANTOMS & MONSTERS VIDEO LIBRARYPOLL: WHAT DO YOU THINK? ANGELS IN THE CLASSROOM: The Cokeville Miracle

In light of the horrific incidents of school shootings, the following post may bring some solace to those who believe in miracles and a divine spirit:Some places and dates are branded by disaster, by the stories of one horrible day that no one can forget: 9/11, Oklahoma City, Columbine. What sets this horrible day apart from others is what didn't happen. The small town of Cokeville, Wyoming was the sight of a parent's worst nightmare on May 16th, 1986 when a mentally disturbed man and his wife entered an elementary school with guns and a homemade gasoline bomb. The man's name was David Young, a former town marshal. He had been the tiny town's only police officer for six months in 1979 and when he was fired for misconduct, he moved to Tucson, Arizona. He and his wife returned to Cokeville in 1986 and carried out their insidious plan. Young had a manifesto called "Zero-Infiniti" and proclaimed "This is a revolution!" as he and his wife took an entire generation - over 160 children and teachers - hostage and wouldn't release them until he was given 300 million dollars and a personal phone call from Ronald Reagan, the President of the United States.Keeping all the children in a single room and standing in the middle of it, the Youngs began a standoff that would last 2 1/2 hours. David left the room leaving his wife alone and it was then that the bomb went off instantly killing Doris. The bomb had been on the shopping cart and, though it was homemade, it was powerful enough to destroy a section of the school. Moments before the explosion, Young handed the shoelace and clothespin to his wife and went across the hall to the bathroom. Doris Young apparently didn’t realize how sensitive the trigger mechanism was and accidentally caused it to go off.The blast knocked Williams off her feet. The room erupted in chaos as children ran screaming in the dark, smoke-filled room. While many kids, including her friends Amber Kemp and BranDee Prows, escaped through the window, Williams crawled toward a light at the doorway. She crossed paths with David Young at the door, and he tried to grab her shirt, but the tide of running children prevented him. She escaped but saw flames on her shirt and felt an odd, tickling sensation on her shoulder. She started rolling to try to put it out, but the burning sensation only intensified. She was saved from further burns when some teachers found her and slapped out the flames. Then they told her to run.Running toward the blast Young started to randomly spray the area with gunfire. Some kids were grazed by whizzing bullets, but none were hit. Through the chaos, everyone was eventually accounted for except for the Youngs. Upon finding his burning wife, Young shot her and then returned to the bathroom and shot himself. The miraculous thing is that despite the shooting and the detonation of the bomb, the Youngs were the only casualties. Some children and teachers suffered severe flash burns from the explosion and minor bullet wounds, but all were alive. In the last 20 years, this event has become known as The Miracle of Cokeville. The story runs deeper. Bomb experts called out to the scene and were stunned. They couldn't figure out why the school was still intact when a bomb that size should have obliterated the entire side of the building leaving everyone - the hostage-takers and the hostages - all dead. How was this possible? To this day no one has provided an explanation. The children and teachers were alive and that was all that apparently mattered. Then the children began to tell stories of angels who appeared to them and instructed them to move to a corner of the classroom because the bomb was about to explode. Some reported seeing beautiful figures in white while others said that they saw long-dead relatives telling them not to be afraid. Many said later that there was an angel in the room for every child and that each was protecting their charge. Some children said that they didn't see anything, but rather heard disembodied voices telling them that the disaster was about to happen and that they would be spared.Glenna Walker’s children saw a “beautiful lady” who told them to go near the window right before the explosion. When looking at a picture in a locket later, one of the children identified the lady as Walker’s deceased mother.Amy Bagaso Williams was a fifth-grader at the time of the incident. Recently she said, “You come to realize there are no coincidences. Too many things happened to the point that all of us survived that day. It was not an accident. It was a loving Heavenly Father who had a plan for all these children. He prevented it from turning into a horrible tragedy.”Williams had third-degree burns on her face, neck, and back. Because there were more than 75 injured, ambulances were dispatched to Montpelier, Idaho; Kemmerer, Wyo.; Evanston, Wyo.; and Utah. Her parents drove her to Montpelier, where the hospital had not received word of the bombing. “Get prepared for a long night,” Williams' father told them.Williams was lying in a hospital bed when she learned two Melchizedek priesthood holders were going room to room giving blessings. She asked for a blessing.“The blessing said Heavenly Father was there and watched over us, that he loves us, and although this terrible thing happened and my body was burned horribly, that I would heal and have no scars,” Williams said with emotion. “The scars I would have to overcome would be scars of forgiveness and trust.”Her pediatrician didn’t think such a promise was realistic, but Williams, feeling the same peaceful feeling she had felt earlier, believed the blessing. New skin grew in, and to this day she has no scarring, despite severe burns.“It was a miracle. I healed completely. Nobody has any idea I was in the Cokeville bombing,” she said.To commemorate the 20th anniversary in 2006, a group called the Cokeville Miracle Foundation compiled a 500-page book of accounts by many people who lived through the fateful day and titled it WITNESS TO MIRACLES, Remembering the Cokeville Elementary School BombingSusan Fiscus, Karla Toomer, and Chemene Petersen gathered information for the book. Survivors and residents of Cokeville were invited to a town celebration, and some talked about the event for the first time in two decades. To Save the ChildrenWhere Angels Tread: Real Stories of Miracles and Angelic InterventionBridge Between Worlds: Extraordinary Experiences That Changed LivesSources:time.combeliefnet.comslightlywarped.comdeseretnews.comksl.com'Bridge Between Worlds: Extraordinary Experiences That Changed Lives' - Dan Millman and Doug Childers - 2009**********PHANTOMS & MONSTERS VIDEO LIBRARYPOLL: WHAT DO YOU THINK? DEVIL'S CREATION: Elizabeth Lake Monster!

DEVIL'S CREATION: Elizabeth Lake Monster!

The legend states that the Devil created Elizabeth Lake and placed one of his own pets inside it. If you swim deep enough, eventually you will find a secret passage direct to the underworld which isn't entirely far-fetched, as the lake lies directly over the San Andres fault line. From this lake, a horrible monster came to be.The following is a short mention of the legend in the Los Angeles Daily News:It was once named La Laguna de Diablo because early settlers thought a monster lurked inside its watery depths. But Los Angeles County's largest natural lake, Elizabeth Lake in the Antelope Valley, is now considered heaven by nature lovers, who are attracted by its inherent beauty and its scores of animal and bird species.....The lake's modern history dates back to the early days of California's founding. In 1780, Father Junipero Serra named it La Laguna de Diablo because those who lived near the lake formed by the San Andreas Fault believed it contained the devil's pet.In the late 1800s, Tiburcio Vasquez and other Banditos used the lake as a hideout for their stolen cattle and horses. It was later named Elizabeth Lake for a young girl who lived nearby and slipped in to the water. She wasn't hurt, but friends dubbed it in her honor as a joke and the name stuck. And just in case the legend of the Elizabeth Lake monster might scare away any potential buyers, Walker said the last reports of the monster's appearance were in the late 1800s, when several men claimed they witnessed the ascension of a huge monster with bat-like wings from the lake."Of course, this is all legend and folklore," Walker said. "Here, we don't think about it. Most people don't even know about it. It's just an old story." - DailyNews - Los Angeles, CAThe Tombstone ThunderbirdThere have been no reported sightings since the 1880s, but there were a few between 1830-1886. The creature has been described as having bat wings, the neck of a giraffe, the head of a bulldog, six legs, a length of at least fifty feet, and emitting a horrible nauseating stench. Several ranchers and owners of land around Elizabeth Lake abandoned or sold their property at losses to get away from the beast. Supposedly Spanish missionaries dubbed the lake Laguna del Diablo and Indian legend also supports the rumors that the Devil created the lake. The first recorded sighting was by a Spaniard Don Pedro Carillo in the 1830's. He built a ranch on the shores of the lake, but one day a fire of unknown origin burnt every single structure down all in a single night. In the 1850s, American settlers tried to establish themselves near the lake but screams at night, unnatural noises, visions, and other experiences that they would not relate to drove them away.A few years later Don Chico Lopez and Don Chico Vasquez established a ranch along the lake and for several months everything was fine. Then the workers reported livestock and animals disappearing. This was followed by a giant winged shadow passing over every night. Soon the residents had multiple sightings of the beast. Bullets reportedly bounced off the creature's hide. As ranch hands quit, and animals kept disappearing, the owners were forced to sell. The land was eventually sold and the ranch was abandoned.Several months after Miguel Leonis, a burly Basque immigrant, purchased the ranch on Elizabeth Lake, the creature began eating his animals as well. But Leonis would not have it. He lay in wait for the beast and then savagely attacked it when it emerged at night. As bullets bounced off its tough hide, he engaged it closer, beating it with his rifle butt across the nose and then punching it in the eye. The creature supposedly retreated back to the lake and eventually fled to Arizona. The creature was later linked to the area around Tombstone, Arizona. A photograph was presumably taken in the early 1890s of several cowboys and ranchers holding up what appears to be a pterodactyl. The beast was apparently seen flying in the area and was lured by some ranchers into a trap in the Huachuca Mountains, west of Tombstone, where they killed the creature. Some stories link the monster of Elizabeth Lake to the monster in the old picture of the pterodactyl, stating that they are the same creature. The picture apparently appeared in the Tombstone Epitaph though the original photograph disappeared.Elizabeth Lake has mostly been quiet since the encounter with Miguel Leonis. There has been a lot of speculation about the creature ever existed at Elizabeth Lake, but there is little doubt that several Spanish dons, settlers, and western ranchers avoided the location, even though it was some of the most fertile land in the area.NOTE: The spirits of Miguel Leonis and his wife are said to haunt their historic adobe. You can read about it at Miguel Leonis Adobe and Leonis Adobe Museum. There is another great source on these sightings at American Dragons of the West. In my opinion, the Elizabeth Lake sightings may have been something other than a flesh and blood creature. Some of the Ancient Alien and Hollow Earth mysteries included encounters with large birds that seemed indestructible, and bullets would bounce off the surface. Some of the large birds would spew fire and projectiles, as well as latch onto people and livestock from a fair distance above. I know it sounds similar to the film Cowboys & Aliens - but then again, maybe this legend is where the storyline came from. Cuomo: ‘I Am Ashamed of How We Are Responding’ to 2nd Attempt on Trump's Life

In his opening monologue for Monday’s eponymous show, his first since the second assassination attempt on former President Trump, NewsNation host Chris Cuomo voiced his disgust and frustration with how many in the media and in the country were reacting to it. While he didn’t like that Trump had called Democrats a threat to democracy, he was “ashamed” of those who were being flippant, mocking, and lacking empathy. He even disclosed that he made a personal call to Trump to check in on him. Cuomo explained that he had gone through several drafts for his opening monologue but “it wasn't even landing right with me. So, I called former President Trump.” He said he didn’t ask him pressing questions nor grill him about rhetoric. “I just want to know how his family's taking this. Because I grew up like that. I grew up worried about who was going to try to hurt my father,” he said. Expanding on that fear about his father (Mario Cuomo (D)), Cuomo recalled an incident that frightened him as child, where his father chased down someone who accosted him (Click “expand”): And I told you this story last week that I remember this day. I was 7, 8, years old. Okay? And I remember him jumping off that stage in some ugly hound’s tooth blazer. And running up the front of an auditorium because someone had thrown a pie, it had a coconut shell at Abe Beame, who was mayor, and um – Bella Abzug who was running for mayor. She used to where these big beautiful hats. And my father's on the stage with them in this mayoral debate or discussion, whatever you got killed. He lost so many elections before he won one. And the guy throws that thing and my father jumps off the stage and goes running up and throws him on the ground, holds him down. And I was so scared. “I called [Trump] today because I am ashamed of how we are responding and not responding to the threats on him. And I feel for his family,” he said. He confronted those who would say Trump “asked for” the attempt on his life. “Listen, that's your choice and I think it's a wrong choice,” he chided. “We got to get out of the judgment business on unless its judging ourselves and you gotta start rewarding things that are better.”     Cuomo marveled at Trump’s resilience given he faced his own mortality twice in two months: And I got to tell you. I don't know how he stays in the race. I don't know how he got up after being shot in the head. And you people who try to mitigate that, you need to check yourself. He gets up, pumping his fist, stays in the race, barely even talks about it. “If I had been through what that guy's been through in the last 2 months, you would not know where I am. You would never see me on TV again. No way I would do that. I don't know how he does it,” he added later. Disgusted by the way the Biden administration and the Harris/Walz ticket were under playing what happened, Cuomo expressed deep concern about where the country was heading: I am worried about us. I am ashamed of what's happening around us right now and the relative lack of concern about it. I just don't see how we get anywhere better than where we are right now. (…) I criticize him all the time. That's my job. And he deserves it. But he doesn't deserve this. A guy pointing an AK-47 at him while he’s playing golf? And we take solace in the fact that the guy didn't get any rounds off?! That does not work for me. Further talking about how this affected Trump’s family, Cuomo slammed those who were “giving crap to Melania Trump worrying about whether or not there was a plot around her husband.” “How could she not?!” he exclaimed. “I don't think she's right, but I totally get why she feels that way! And people mock her?! And then her husband as a guy pointed with an AK-47; where are those people apologizing?!” Unsure where America was going from here, Cuomo lamented: “It has gotten out of control, too far from where we need to be and how we need to be. And I don't know what to do about it. I don’t know.” The transcript is below. Click "expand" to read: NewsNation’s Cuomo September 17, 2024 8:08:16 p.m. Eastern (…) CHRIS CUOMO: Here's what I did. I didn't know what to say. I kept going through drafts. And I just wasn't getting anywhere. It wasn't even landing right with me. So, I called former President Trump. And I didn't ask him any questions, I didn't go after him about his role. I just want to know how his family's taking this. Because I grew up like that. I grew up worried about who was going to try to hurt my father. And I told you this story last week that I remember this day. And you can think what you want about Trump. He does not have many more full-throated critics of what he says and does that me. Okay? And yet, I called him today because I am ashamed of how we are responding and not responding to the threats on him. And I feel for his family. And I know you can roll your eyes and say, ‘oh, yeah, he asked for it.’ Listen, that's your choice and I think it's a wrong choice. Okay? We got to get out of the judgment business on unless its judging ourselves and you gotta start rewarding things that are better. And I got to tell you. I don't know how he stays in the race. I don't know how he got up after being shot in the head. And you people who try to mitigate that, you need to check yourself. He gets up, pumping his fist, stays in the race, barely even talks about it. Now, look. I do believe. He has wasted opportunities and he has another one now. Who better than Trump to say, ‘we can do better, I can do better?’ I know he keeps doubling down on his angry rhetoric. How can you not, it keeps working for him? I don't know that it gets him elected. My theory is that he needs to expand. He had a chance to do it after he was the target of an assassination. At the RNC, he had a chance to say, ‘I know what got me here. It's not going to get me where I want us to be.’ He did not take that chance. He now has another chance. ‘Oh, you're supporting Trump!’ I’m supporting us. The idea that I am a Trump supporter is laughable to the man on your screen right now. That is not what this is. I am worried about us. I am ashamed of what's happening around us right now and the relative lack of concern about it. I just don't see how we get anywhere better than where we are right now. Look, I'm not blaming Democrats. I'm really not. I blame the guy and whatever disease he has that the people around him either knew about and did nothing about. The guy was arrested 20 years ago for barricading himself in a room with all these weapons. Where are we caring about one another?! Where are we taking care of our own?! Where are we pushing to get help?! We’re leaving people languishing, dying on the streets. What is going on with us? I don't get it. That's why I reached out to Trump. I wanted to just say, ‘Listen. I'm really sorry that this is going on and it's being dealt with this way.’ Not because I'm in favor of his politics or what he says. I criticize him all the time. That's my job. And he deserves it. But he doesn't deserve this. A guy pointing an AK-47 at him while he’s playing golf? And we take solace in the fact that the guy didn't get any rounds off?! That does not work for me. If I had been through what that guy's been through in the last 2 months, you would not know where I am. You would never see me on TV again. No way I would do that. I don't know how he does it. He’s got kids. They're adults, but he's got grandkids. He's got a wife. People giving shi – giving crap to Melania Trump worrying about whether or not there was a plot around her husband. How could she not?! I don't think she's right, but I totally get why she feels that way! And people mock her? And then her husband as a guy pointed with an AK-47; where are those people apologizing?! That's what it's time for; ‘I should not have come at you, Melania Trump for suggesting that maybe there was something more a foot. I get your paranoia. I get your feelings. You have a right to that.’ There's nothing wrong with saying that would be the basic decent human being! It has gotten out of control, too far from where we need to be and how we need to be. And I don't know what to do about it. I don’t know. (…)

JD Vance: ‘Embrace Censorship,’ and You’ll ‘Embrace Violence’

After a second reported assassination attempt on former President  Donald Trump Sunday, his running mate called out censorship as a precursor to political violence. While anti-free speech radicals claim that censorship prevents political violence, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) ripped that false narrative apart. Vance called out the “form of moral blackmail, designed not to make anyone safe but to shut everyone up” in a lengthy X post reacting to the second attempted assassination of Trump at the GOP presidential nominee’s West Palm Beach golf course. Instead of discussing differences in political views, leftists in the media and government insist that opinions differing from their own are dangerous just by being spoken or posted online. Vance insisted that this anti-free speech attitude doesn’t stop violence but rather is intended simply to “shut everyone up.” Vance drew a connection between censorship of speech and physical attacks. “Reject censorship and you reject political violence. Embrace censorship, and you will inevitably embrace violence on its behalf,” he said. Vance even gave an example of how the left sensationalizes to shut down the speech of their opposition. “It is one thing to say that pets are not, in fact being eaten, and another thing to say that anyone who disagrees is trying to murder people,” Vance noted. “Dissent, even vigorous dissent, is a great tradition of the United States. Censorship is not.” The GOP vice presidential nominee cited the censorship that swung the 2020 election for President Joe Biden, as an MRC poll previously showed. “There was the Hunter Biden laptop story, censored by BigTech,” he wrote. “And who can forget that anyone who didn't support Kamala Harris's Ukraine policy was drenched in the blood of Ukrainian children. That last one appears to have had some effect on [Ryan] Routh—the most recent would-be assassin. The message is always the same: don't you dare express an opinion on the public affairs of your nation. The message is: shut up.” Vance promised he would fight against that message during the 2024 campaign, “I will vigorously defend your right to speak your mind. I believe you have every right to criticize me and Donald J. Trump, even if you say terrible or untrue things about us.” Vance, in effect, argued that the remedy to bad speech is more free speech. Indeed, Vance pleaded, “I'm asking all of us to reject censorship. Reject the idea that you can control what other people think and say. Embrace persuasion of your fellow citizens over silencing them– either through the powers of Big Tech or through moral blackmail.” This will improve the political debate, he argued. Affirming his call to action, Vance continued, “The reason is simple. The logic of censorship leads directly to one place, for there is only one way to permanently silence a human being: put a bullet in his brain.” Conservatives are under attack. Contact your representatives and demand that Big Tech be held to account to mirror the First Amendment while providing transparency, clarity on “hate speech” and equal footing for conservatives.
