Honoring a 'man of great faith': Gary Sinise opens up about power of prayer while grappling with heartbreaking loss of son

Actor Gary Sinise shared the pain of watching his son bravely battle cancer but also emphasized how the power of prayer and deep faith rendered hope and support during the heartbreaking tribulations that took the life of a &;quot;man of great faith.&;quot; In August 2018‚ McCanna Anthony &;quot;Mac&;quot; Sinise was diagnosed with chordoma — a very rare‚ slow-growing cancer that forms in the spine or base of the skull. Mac underwent surgery to remove the first tumor in September 2018. Sadly‚ the cancer returned by May 2019. Sinise recently told Christian Broadcasting Network‚ &;quot; It had come back‚ and it was starting to spread throughout his body. He was back in the hospital again‚ and he started chemo and radiation at that point‚ but there is no cure for this particular cancer. There’s no reliable drug that has been used to fight it that has been effective.&;quot;Sinise characterized the clash with cancer as &;quot;very disabling and crippling.&;quot; He noted that the tumors were &;quot;growing very fast‚&;quot; which is uncharacteristic for chordoma.Mac endured several unforgiving treatments‚ debilitating medications‚ excruciating surgeries‚ and extended hospital visits. Making matters even worse‚ Gary's wife‚ Moira‚ was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in the summer of 2018. She too was undergoing surgeries‚ chemotherapy‚ and radiation. After several months of treatment‚ Moira's cancer went into remission. Mac was not as fortunate — the cancer was spreading throughout his body. By November 2018‚ Mac had gone through his third spinal surgery to remove the tumors. At that point‚ Mac was so disabled by the cancer that he could no longer come into the office where he worked as an assistant manager at the Gary Sinise Foundation. The cancer eventually forced him to resign from his position in his father's charity.Sinise confessed‚ &;quot;Have there been times where I just kind of fell down on the stairs and kind of let the emotion out … because‚ at times‚ I didn’t know what else to do&;#63; I was trying to do everything I could to find solutions for Mac and his cancer.&;quot;During his grueling fight against cancer‚ Mac &;quot;loved his Catholic faith&;quot; and embraced his religion to give him strength. Sinise told CBN‚ &;quot; It was just inspiring to see how it helped sustain him through this cancer battle.&;quot; To help him through his courageous journey‚ Mac also drew solace from the power of prayer‚ wrote journals‚ and revisited his passion for creating music.Mac had been a drummer since the age of nine and would even be a substitute drummer in Sinise's Lt. Dan Band — a musical group that catered to wounded veterans at military hospitals across the country. However‚ the cancer robbed Mac's ability to play the drums and piano since the cancer had mostly paralyzed him from the neck down.Sinise recalled‚ &;quot;Early 2023‚ he said to me‚ 'Dad‚ you know‚ there’s some music that I never finished in college‚ and I think I’d like to try to finish it.' And he hadn’t been thinking about music much at all‚ really‚ but early 2023‚ he starts talking about that.&;quot; From his hospital bed‚ Mac finished a song that he had started in his college days. Mac was a graduate of the USC Thornton School of Music. He reconnected with Oliver Schnee – an old friend from college and a composer. Schnee orchestrated and produced Mac's piece of music titled &;quot;Arctic Circles.&;quot; On July 17‚ 2023‚ the &;quot;Arctic Circles&;quot; song was recorded at the prominent Sunset Sound recording studio in Los Angeles‚ California. Sinise recalled‚ &;quot;I was just a sobbing mess when I went to the recording studio with him because he hadn’t played any of it for me at all. I had never heard it when he wrote it in college.&;quot; The proud father added‚ &;quot;I was so unprepared for what I was going to hear. It was all a surprise‚ and it was all a beautiful‚ beautiful moment to hear.&;quot; Mac Sinise - Arctic Circles www.youtube.com Moira encouraged Mac to satisfy his musical thirst by playing the harmonica‚ which he taught himself to play. Mac recorded two more music sessions in Tennessee with his original pieces‚ where he played harmonica with members of the Lt. Dan Band‚ including his father on the bass. The musical troupe performed a cover of the old American folk song &;quot;Red River Valley‚&;quot; which his mother used to sing to him and his sisters when they were small children. The sessions were recorded at the renowned Blackbird Studios in Nashville‚ where songs have been recorded by music stars such as Taylor Swift‚ Keith Urban‚ and Tim McGraw.Mac celebrated his 33rd birthday by recording songs with a full orchestra at the studio and featured a special appearance by accomplished singer Harry Connick Jr. Mac Sinise - A Surprise Visit From Harry Connick‚ Jr. At The Studio www.youtube.com The &;quot;Forrest Gump&;quot; star revealed that Mac had &;quot;fulfilled his dream&;quot; by recording his original music. &;quot; He accomplished what he was looking to do‚ and he was happy at the end of his life — and that’s comforting for our family for sure‚&;quot; Sinise said.Despite all of the struggles and overwhelming tribulations‚ Mac turned to music and faith to help him persevere. &;quot;I know his faith played a strong part in helping to sustain him through this battle‚&;quot; Sinise explained. &;quot; And I was there with him every step of the way in these hospital stays and with [him] those final days before he died and saw him struggling. But I knew that he was fulfilled with what he’d accomplished at the end.&;quot;Sinise described his brave son as &;quot;a man of great faith — great‚ great faith.&;quot; However‚ Mac was fighting an extremely difficult uphill battle. The young man embraced his faith and turned to consistently reading a St. Augustine prayer book – where he underlined text and wrote his thoughts pertaining to his fight for his life.&;quot; That was his special prayer book that he left his mother‚&;quot; Sinise stated. &;quot; He wrote in it‚ 'At my passing‚ give to mom‚' and a lot of things [are] underlined in there.&;quot;Sinise admitted the crushing pain of watching the life escape from his son. &;quot; In all my 69 years … sorrowful moments or painful moments along the way‚ I’ve never experienced a sorrow and a pain like this‚&;quot; Sinise lamented. &;quot; He was beginning to let go. The fight was going out of him.&;quot;McCanna Anthony &;quot;Mac&;quot; Sinise passed away at 3:25 p.m. on Jan. 5‚ 2024‚ at the young age of 33 following a lengthy and tragic cancer battle.Sinise was serenaded with an outpouring of heartfelt condolences over his son's tragic passing. Mac left loved ones a portal into his soul that documented his most trying times.&;quot;I’ve discovered a lot of stuff on his iPhone and iPad that he wrote‚ even things that he recorded‚ you know‚ selfies of him talking to the camera about what he was thinking and what he was feeling‚&;quot; Sinise revealed. &;quot; And‚ so I knew he was preparing himself as much as possible‚ and my job was just to keep trying to find drugs‚ keep trying to fight‚ and I never wanted to give up‚ even in the hospital in those final days.&;quot;Like Blaze News&;#63; Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Far-left activist learns unforgettable lesson after she threatens to murder entire city council: 'See you at your house'

A far-left activist went viral over the weekend after video showed her weeping in a courtroom as a judge arraigned her on more than a dozen felonies. Last week‚ 28-year-old Riddhi Patel was arrested in the middle of a Bakersfield City Council meeting after she openly communicated death threats to Mayor Karen Goh (R) and the rest of the city council. During the public comment portion of the meeting‚ Patel spoke twice. At first‚ she voiced her outrage because the city council has not supported a resolution demanding a ceasefire in Gaza. &;quot; You all are horrible human beings‚ and Jesus probably would have killed you himself‚&;quot; she said. &;quot; While you guys parade Gandhi around ... I remind you that these holidays that we practice‚ that other people in the global south practice‚ believe in violent revolution against their oppressors‚ and I hope one day somebody brings the guillotine and kills all of you motherf**kers.&;quot; Later in the meeting‚ Patel complained about increased security measures at city council meetings‚ including metal detectors. After personally attacking the politicians with her words‚ Patel ratcheted up her rhetoric. &;quot; We'll see you at your house. We'll murder you‚&;quot; she threatened. Patel then tried to return to her seat as if everything was normal. But Mayor Goh had other plans. &;quot; That was a threat‚ what you said at the end‚ so officers are going to escort you out and take care of that‚&;quot; she said. Patel was promptly arrested and slapped with 18 felony charges: 10 counts of threatening with the intent to terrorize a public official and eight counts of threatening certain public officials. Patel appeared in court last Friday‚ where she was seen wearing a brown jail uniform. As she was arraigned‚ Patel was weeping uncontrollably. The judge set her bail at $1 million. Patel identifies as nonbinary‚ according to KPAK-TV. NEW: Protester who threatened to murder Bakersfield City Council members weeps in court as she faces over a dozen felony counts. This is incredibly satisfying. &;quot;I hope one day somebody brings the guillotine &; kills all of you motherf**kers‚&;quot; Riddhi Patel said. Hours later‚ she… pic.twitter.com/t9ajA8eZJv — Collin Rugg (@CollinRugg) April 13‚ 2024 Mayor Goh is not speaking about the incident‚ KGET-TV reported. But councilman and Vice Mayor Andrae Gonzales said Patel's threats prove why they need increased security. &;quot;Making real threats to elected officials and decision makers is not the way to influence others‚&;quot; he told KGET. &;quot;Nobody on the city council will be intimidated to action.&;quot; Patel is due back in court on April 16. The insane story of how antidepressants stole one woman's childhood

Brooke Siem was 15 years old when her dad died. In the wake of this tragedy‚ her newly-widowed mother was worried about Brooke’s stoicism. So‚ she took her daughter to the doctor. That doctor referred her to another doctor‚ who diagnosed her with an anxiety and depressive disorder and put her on a cocktail of antidepressants. That’s how Brooke lost 15 years of her life. She stayed on the meds until she was 30 because that’s what the doctor said she needed to do. “If the doctor tells you you need insulin because you have diabetes‚ you don't question it. The doctor told me I was depressed; so‚ he told me to take an antidepressant. I didn’t question that. Why would I‚ right&;#63;” she tells Allie Beth Stuckey. But at 30 years old‚ Brooke found herself more depressed than she’d ever been‚ struggling with suicidal ideation and lack of emotion — despite the drugs. She realized this meant they were not working. So‚ she decided to quit cold turkey at the instruction of her doctor‚ which she does not recommend. It’s important to properly wean off these drugs at the guidance of an experienced medical professional. Brooke’s doctor told her she might feel like she had the flu for a few days‚ but it was no big deal. Instead‚ Brooke was launched headfirst into a “full-on psychological assault.” Brooke detailed the severity of her withdrawal on last week’s episode of Relatable‚ “How Antidepressants Stole Her Childhood.” Along with violent intrusive thoughts and mood swings‚ Brooke experienced a variety of physical symptoms: “All my senses changed; so‚ I literally started seeing color more vibrantly‚ and things went from a little softer on the edges to super sharp. I developed really severe noise sensitivity. My skin got something called nodular vasculitis‚ which is basically an autoimmune response in the blood vessels‚ and it is because of extreme physical stress on the body.” However‚ amidst all this darkness‚ she also described how she began to experience little moments of joy — a feeling completely foreign to her for the past 15 years. “I was also having these moments of‚ like I said‚ color; it was like I could finally see color for the first time‚ and I could laugh at something and feel true joy.” Brooke is now on a mission to share what happened to her‚ shed light on the reality of antidepressant withdrawal‚ and advocate for safe de-prescribing from psychiatric drugs. She detailed her story in her memoir‚ “May Cause Side Effects.” To hear Brooke's story‚ watch the episode below. Biden admin weighs executive order to stem migrant crisis‚ but experts say it's 'all for show': Report

The Biden administration recently stated that it is &;quot;examining&;quot; whether the president has the &;quot;power&;quot; to issue an executive order that aims to shut down the southern border. Experts told the Daily Caller News Foundation that the potential measure is &;quot;all for show.&;quot; On Tuesday‚ Univision released an interview with Biden in which he was questioned about his plans for stemming the flow of migrants entering the country through the southern border‚ Blaze News previously reported. Univision's Enrique Acevedo asked the president whether he had &;quot;made a final decision on taking executive order in terms of what you want to do at the border‚ that includes the power to shut down the border.&;quot;Biden responded that he had &;quot;suggested that&;quot; but was not certain about &;quot;whether or not I have that power.&;quot; &;quot; And some have suggested I should just go ahead and try it. And if I get shut down by the court‚ I get shut down by the court. But we're trying to work that‚ work through that right now‚&;quot; he explained.Following the interview‚ a White House spokesperson told Fox News Digital‚ &;quot; No executive action‚ no matter how aggressive‚ can deliver the significant policy reforms and additional resources Congress can provide and that Republicans rejected.&;quot; The statement referred to the $118 billion‚ 370-page bill released by the Senate in February‚ which was criticized by Republicans. The bill included funding for military aid and southern border security provisions.Several immigration experts told the DCNF that the Biden administration's potential plan to execute an executive order will not solve the migrant crisis.Jessica Vaughan‚ director of policy studies at the Center for Immigration Studies‚ told the news outlet‚ &;quot; If Biden confines his executive action to just tweaking the asylum laws‚ that is meaningless if he continues to wave people in on parole and hand them an indefinite work permit.&;quot;Since Biden took office‚ the White House has expanded its parole programs‚ allowing more migrants into the country. According to the Washington Post‚ the administration has granted parole to more than 2 million migrants‚ compared to 300‚000 under the Trump administration. &;quot; While it's fair to say that it would help if Congress were to act … the most impactful actions must come from the president. These include shutting down the catch-and-release policies‚ imposing consequences for illegal border crossing‚ ceasing the issuance of work permits‚ and allowing [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] to do their job in the interior‚&;quot; Vaughan told DCNF.&;quot; If he wanted to make it harder to abuse the asylum system‚ he has the power to do that now‚ and he has had it all along‚ but chose not to use it‚&;quot; Vaughan continued. &;quot; This is all for show‚ and he and his advisors are kidding themselves if they think this will work to reverse the loss of public trust in his administration.&;quot;Vaughan claimed that the current administration is unlikely to make any significant changes to border policies.&;quot; He has had these policies for three years now and three years to see the problems and hear the concerns of people in communities around the country that are struggling to cope with the consequences‚&;quot; Vaughan added. &;quot; What would motivate him to change anything now&;#63;&;quot;Steven Camarota‚ director of research at CIS‚ told DCNF that the administration would need to do more than change asylum law to solve the crisis.&;quot;Reforming asylum law could help‚ but you'd have to actually deny people and then send them home right away‚ and then publicize this in the sending countries. For that to happen‚ you'd have to detain people‚ which we are not doing in so many cases‚&;quot; Camarota explained. &;quot;Recreating the 'Remain in Mexico' policy‚ getting cooperation from Central American countries again‚ ramping up interior enforcement‚ and most of all using detention significantly more‚ are all at least as important as changing the credible fear criteria. But the administration‚ as far as I know‚ is not talking about those things.&;quot;According to Elizabeth Jacobs‚ director of regulatory affairs and policy at CIS‚ the Biden administration's potential executive order will likely face legal challenges‚ which the White House likely anticipates. &;quot; The entire purpose of such an executive order appears to be to fool American voters‚&;quot; Jacobs told the DCNF. &;quot;By issuing a 212f proclamation or an additional regulation purporting to restrict asylum eligibility‚ the administration can anticipate a bad court ruling from the Ninth Circuit.&;quot;&;quot; At that point‚ President Biden will have cover to tell voters that 'he tried' to address the border crisis‚ but will ultimately blame Congress for not acting to change our laws‚&;quot; Jacobs continued. &;quot; At the same time‚ the Biden administration will keep its policies that restrict officers' ability to enforce the laws that are already on the books and allow inadmissible aliens to be paroled en masse into the U.S.‚ directly violating the laws Congress passed to regulate immigration.&;quot; The Biden administration did not respond to the DCNF's request for comment.Like Blaze News&;#63; Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Over 575‚000 Roku accounts exposed to 'malicious actors' as hackers make purchases with users' stored payment methods

Smart TV operating system Roku was on the receiving end of a low-level hacking incident during which hundreds of thousands of accounts were accessed. Some users had purchases made with their accounts. After 15‚000 Roku accounts were breached in March 2024‚ an April 2024 attack was discovered by the company‚ which was said to have affected another 576‚000 accounts. A cyberattack known as &;quot;credential stuffing&;quot; was used‚ according to Variety‚ where online thieves use login credentials taken from other hacks to attempt to log in to a different online account‚ in this case Roku.Roku reportedly claimed that the original source for user login credentials was not its network. In terms of what the &;quot;malicious actors&;quot; had access to‚ Roku stated that the hackers were able to use the accounts to make unauthorized purchases of streaming service subscriptions and/or Roku hardware products. This was done in fewer than 400 cases‚ the company claimed‚ or approximately 0.07% of the accounts that were compromised. Those accounts were refunded or had charges reversed.Additionally‚ Roku said that hackers did not gain access to sensitive personal information‚ such as full credit card numbers or other payment information. It is unclear how the criminals were able to access the accounts and make purchases while not seeing the less-sensitive data.In response‚ Roku reset the passwords of all affected accounts and enabled two-factor authentication for all Roku account logins.&;quot; While the overall number of affected accounts represents a small fraction of Roku’s more than 80 million active accounts‚ we are implementing a number of controls and countermeasures to detect and deter future credential stuffing incidents‚&;quot; the company said‚ per Variety.&;quot;[W]e sincerely regret that these incidents occurred and any disruption they may have caused. ... [Y]our account security is a top priority‚ and we are committed to protecting your Roku account‚&;quot; Roku added.Other Data BreachesIn a not-so-funny April Fools' report‚ AT&;T reported that the personal information of a whopping 73 million current and former customers was posted on the dark web. The data breach reportedly included users' Social Security numbers.&;quot;Based on our preliminary analysis‚ the data set appears to be from 2019 or earlier‚ impacting approximately 7.6 million current AT&;T account holders and approximately 65.4 million former account holders‚&;quot; AT&;T noted.DNA mapping company 23andMe‚ on the other hand‚ denied fault for its massive data security breach from 2023 and shifted blame to users who &;quot;recycled&;quot; their passwords‚ according to a letter obtained by TechCrunch. The security breach impacted 6.9 million 23andMe accounts‚ almost half the company's users‚ and resulted in dozens of lawsuits. This hack was also accomplished by credential stuffing that opened up access to 14‚000 user accounts‚ which then allowed hackers to access the data of millions of 23andMe users who had opted in to the website's DNA Relatives feature.&;quot;Users negligently recycled and failed to update their passwords following these past security incidents‚ which are unrelated to 23andMe‚&;quot; the company letter claimed.Like Blaze News&;#63; Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. The dirty trick that lines Congress' pockets but would put YOU in jail

After three and a half years of Bidenomics‚ “a lot of people are struggling more than they have in a very long time‚” says Glenn Beck. “Everybody is like that.” “Well‚ not everybody‚” he mocks‚ pointing at the cover of BlazeTV’s latest documentary‚ “Bought and Paid For: How Politicians Get Filthy Rich‚” which features a picture of Nancy Pelosi surrounded by stacks of cash. In this Blaze Originals episode‚ we very clearly show you “why [members of Congress] never retire.” Its roots go back to Karl Marx‚ the Bolsheviks‚ and Mao Zedong. What did they have in common&;#63; “They all stated in their own ways that they wanted to take money from one group of people and give it to another group of people‚” calling it “an economy for everyone‚” says Glenn. We’ve heard suspiciously similar iterations from our own politicians‚ including Nancy Pelosi‚ Bernie Sanders‚ and Hilary Clinton‚ among others. But no matter if it’s Russia‚ China‚ Cuba‚ or Venezuela‚ every time this rhetoric has been used‚ it has always meant the same thing: “the elites end up being the people who write the laws‚” and “they're the ones who get rich” — never the people. What makes American politicians different&;#63; Nothing. They’re also getting richer as the people get poorer‚ but so many of us don’t have a clue about their shady dealings. So‚ how are they doing it&;#63; Let’s just say they’ve found a practice that far outperforms what the country’s leading financial experts are capable of — a practice ordinary citizens don’t have access to. To hear more about how the scheme works‚ watch Glenn’s chalkboard talk below. Then‚ head over to blazetv.com/originals for the full documentary.
