The hush money trial of Donald Trump has begun‚ which is the first time in U.S. history a former president has been tried on criminal charges. Trump has been charged in a New York Supreme Court indictment‚ as part of which he faces 34 counts alleging that he falsified New York business records in order to influence the 2016 election. Megyn Kelly is not only “disgusted” by it but fears “they’re gonna’ get him” this time. “They’re in the courtroom‚ the witnesses will be called eventually after they pick the jury‚ and they’re going to try to put this guy behind bars potentially‚” she tells Glenn Beck‚ adding‚ “They’re 100% taking their best shot at stopping him from winning this race.” Kelly compares Trump’s persecution to what it would have been like if Princess Diana was “behaving like a street wh*re.” “That’s what we’re doing. After the Chicago police shooting of Dexter Reed‚ the left seems to have found its next George Floyd. Reed‚ a 26-year-old black man‚ was pulled over by police officers for not wearing a seatbelt. After the stop escalated into an altercation where he pulled a weapon and fired on police officers‚ one cop was injured and Reed sustained fatal injuries. “I think that the mainstream media is trying to turn this into‚ like‚ the new George Floyd‚” Sara Gonzales says before reviewing the body cam footage — which tells a different story than the accepted narrative. Reed is seen initially complying with an officer’s order to roll down his window before rolling it up and refusing to comply. When the officer attempted to get him to open his car door‚ Reed began shooting at officers. “It’s a lot of shots being fired at the cops‚” Gonzales notes. Eric July believes it’s not as black and white as the media is painting it. “If we look at it with zero nuance‚” he says‚ we’ll see that a “person got shot and killed over seat belt.” “That’s how essentially it’s going to be worded‚ though that’s not entirely accurate‚ and it’s just a little bit more complicated‚” he says‚ noting that to go from not complying to attempting to shoot and kill someone is never the right move. “That is the ultimate‚ utmost escalation‚” July says. While July didn’t believe the cops' reaction was right either‚ he believes the media’s reaction makes it worse. “I hate that the conversation immediately goes to race‚ because then at that point‚ what it does is absolve them of everything‚” he explains. The Supreme Court ruled against allowing transgender treatments to be provided in Idaho while a lawsuit proceeds. The Vulnerable Child Protection Act was passed in 2023 and banned treatments including puberty blockers‚ hormone therapy‚ and corrective surgeries for minors. The law had been blocked by a lower court that said that treatments could continue while the lawsuit continued. Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch wrote that the lower court had gone farther than was necessary. The three liberal justices on the court dissented against the ruling. Rather than end the ban for the entire state‚ the majority ruling said that treatments could continue for the plaintiffs‚ two transgender teenagers. The law says that physicians who provide transgender treatment to anyone under the age of 18 could face the penalty of 10 years in prison. LGBTQ+ activists like transgender journalist Erin Reed decried the ruling. &;quot;Incredibly devastating ruling out of the Supreme Court for transgender people. The Supreme Court has allowed Idaho’s gender affirming care ban to go back into effect for everyone but the plaintiffs‚&;quot; responded Reed on social media. &;quot;No sugar coating this one‚ it’s devastating for trans youth nationwide.&;quot; &;quot;There's no good reasoning for this. It's cruel and vindictive‚ and it will cause unnecessary harm to trans youth‚&;quot; replied activist Charlotte Clymer. &;quot;Horrifying court decision banning healthcare for Idahoan trans kids. Children will die from this‚&;quot; wrote queer trans woman Eli Erlick. &;quot;This is why we need to deregulate hormones &; have the option to make our own.&;quot; One of the plaintiffs is a 16-year-old transgender girl on puberty blockers while the other is a 17-year-old transgender girl on puberty blockers as well as hormone therapy. Both claim the treatments have improved their mental health while some studies indicate that the harm from transgender therapy far outstrips the reported benefits. The National Health Service in Britain has announced that transgender treatments will be reconsidered in light of the conclusions found in a 388-page report. The Supreme Court will take up other appeals against similar transgender laws in Tennessee and Kentucky. 21 states have passed restrictions against transgender treatment for minors‚ which critics say is dangerous and unproven.
