Man's reaction to his wife of 63 years trying on a wig after chemo treatment says it all

Few couples make it to 60 years of marriage‚ as either divorce or death usually hit before that milestone. So it's a rare treat to get to see a couple who's been married that long interact with one another. That's one reason a video shared by a woman named Jennifer (@jennjensc) on TikTok has so many people talking. The other reason is that it's a just hilariously delightful. &;quot; My parents have been married 63 years. My mom was recently diagnosed with lung cancer. She’s doing chemo and radiation and smiling all she can&;#33;” Jennifer wrote in the caption. In the video‚ Jennifer tells her dad‚ &;quot;Papa‚&;quot; that &;quot;Nana&;quot; is trying on her new wig. &;quot; So be encouraging‚&;quot; Jennifer says‚ to which he responds‚ &;quot; She's trying on wigs&;#63; That's good.&;quot; To his credit‚ he tried to be encouraging…which lasted about two seconds once he saw her. When Nana came through the doorway with a long‚ braided black wig parted down the middle‚ her husband said‚ &;quot;Well‚ look at that…&;quot; And then honesty hit‚ followed by peals of laughter. Watch: See on Instagram When you've been together with someone for over six decades‚ there's not a lot that you can hide from one another‚ and this entire interaction proof. The sheer honesty of &;quot;I don't believe I like that‚&;quot; and &;quot; You look like Willie Nelson&;#33;&;quot; are so real‚ and the fact that they busted out laughing together speaks to the power of humor in a lasting relationship. &;quot; He was really ready in his heart to try and be encouraging 😂😂😂‚&;quot; wrote one commenter.&;quot; They are the cutest&;#33; I love how he started “ohhh‚ look at that&;#33;” And then couldn’t even handle lying to her 😂😂😂‚&;quot; wrote another.&;quot; He made her LAUGH‚ which is way better than lying ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️&;quot; shared another.&;quot;I love this. You can tell there’s a lot of love with all the laughter‚&;quot; shared another. And it doesn't end there. Nana took the Willie Nelson bit even further in a follow-up video that showcases just how much humor plays a role in their lives. @jennjensc Today nan finshed the halfway mark of chemo and radiation. She is feeling great. She so enjoys akl tge comments prayers and good vibes &;#33; #nana #papa #willie #journey #chemo #radation #lungcancer #faith #laughter#love Nana and Papa‚ who are 81 and 83 respectively‚ were high school sweethearts. They met at a roller rink‚ &;quot;and we've been going 'round together ever since‚&;quot; Nana said in another video. &;quot;Sometimes we've been goin' 'round and 'round‚&;quot; she added with a giggle. The two really are an adorable couple‚ and as people have shared in the comments‚ they're an inspiration for what a relationship can be even after over 60 years together. The most common wedding vow includes the phrase &;quot;in sickness and in health‚&;quot; and the fact that these two are still having so many laughs together as Nana goes through radiation and chemotherapy exemplifies that phrase. They've been a team for almost their entire lives‚ and a cancer diagnosis isn't going to get in the way of that. You can follow more of Nana's and Papa's love story on Jennifer's TIkTok here.

Georgia sorority sisters risk their life to save mom and kids trapped in sinking car

Sometimes people with the right skills just happen to end up in the right place at the right time. These are the moments we find out what reaction we would have if faced with an emergency situation. Five sorority sisters in Georgia were on their way out of town when they had a miraculous twist of fate on their detour to get lunch. While heading off course to find something to eat‚ one of the girls spotted something out of the corner of her eye. Instincts kicked in when it registered what they saw. A car had lost control and veered off the road into a creek below. The girls called out to ask if they were okay and that's when the five sorority sisters kicked into automatic action.Cori Craft‚ yells to the girls that her two small children are still trapped in the car‚ one of them just 4-years-old‚ strapped into his carseat. All five girls quickly jumped into the water‚ working together to force the door open. Molly McCollum‚ Jane McArdle‚ Eleanor Cart‚ Clarke Jones and Kaitlyn lannace‚ were able to get the older child out but the youngest remained strapped into the completely submerged car. Time was not on their side as the girls explain‚ the little boy had been under the water for four to five minutes. By the time they were able to get him out‚ the boy was unconscious with blue lips. Thankfully‚ Jones worked as a lifeguard in high school which allowed her training to kick in. The college student put the child on the car‚ performing CPR until he began breathing again. &;quot;I was a lifeguard in high school for one summer‚ so I just remembered it from then‚&;quot; Jones tells GMA. &;quot; We had no clue if he was going to survive at all. And so I'm like‚ 'This is the one thing I know how to do that I can help. And so I'm just going to give it my best try.'&;quot; After some time in the hospital‚ the boys have recovered from the terrifying ordeal. As for the sorority sisters‚ they were awarded with a badge of honor from the Burke County Sheriff's Department.

Newly postpartum wife nervously shows off dress. Her fianc&;eacute;'s reaction has people gushing.

Having a baby changes your body and while it may seem that some people pop right back to their pre-pregnancy size‚ not every one does. The expectation for people to be able to wear their old clothes mere weeks after birthing a tiny human is practically impossible for the vast majority of the human population. But it doesn't stop us from comparing and grieving the body that was once so familiar. These drastic changes can leave people feeling self-conscious and defeated. Sophia Bullis was feeling a bit less confident about her new body after giving birth to a son she shares with fianc&;eacute; Jeff. The new mom hasn't worn a dress since the baby was born due to these insecurities so she wanted to surprise Jeff with sporting an adorable white summer dress. In order to catch his genuine reaction‚ she set up her camera and it's giving everyone the feels. Jeff is clearly the ultimate hype man. He comes around the corner carrying their baby and stops in the doorway staring in awe at Sophia. Pointing to the baby‚ he asks if the baby sees &;quot;that&;quot; before looking back up at his fianc&;eacute;.&;quot;I did not realize we were in the presence of royalty‚ let me try this again‚&;quot; Jeff says as he leaves and comes back only to pretend to faint.Really‚ you couldn't ask for a better confidence boost than having your fianc&;eacute; fawn over you in the most wholesome way possible. Commenters agree that Jeff is definitely a keeper. &;quot;Men don’t know how much this means to women in general but especially after a baby‚&;quot; someone writes.&;quot; If your man doesn’t make you giggle to the point where your cheeks hurt telling you how stunning you are what are you even doing‚&;quot; another says.&;quot;I love how much he adores you&;#33; You deserve it mama‚&;quot; someone else shares.&;quot;Men will never understand how much this means to women post pregnancy can be tough‚&;quot; one person gushes.Jeff's support for his fianc&;eacute; is a beautiful reflection of love that Sophia admits is one of the things she loves most about him in the caption.&;quot; One of many things i love about him‚ his reactions and how he makes me feel so loved‚ pretty‚ wanted‚ and confident. Ive been struggling a lot lately with postpartum effects‚ and confidence with my body‚ and Jeff has been there for every step of it. It truly is hard‚ and if you are going through it‚ you got this‚&;quot; she shares.See the sweet video below: View this post on Instagram A post shared by Sophia &; Jeff Bullis (@jeffandsophi)

Homeless man catches family's two children and dogs dropped from burning apartment building

House fires are devastating for families. In a matter of minutes‚ you could lose all of your belongings and a place to live‚ or worse‚ you could lose loved ones. A family in Phoenix‚ Arizona‚ recently found themselves facing the reality of their own home in flames. Claudia Jimenez told CBS News that she woke up trapped in her burning apartment with her two daughters‚ with nothing to do but yell for help in the hopes that someone would hear her.The mom's screams were answered by Joe Hollins‚ a homeless man who was camping nearby with his wife. Hollins didn't hesitate to try to find a way to help. With no way out and the fire department still nowhere on the scene‚ Jimenez had to trust the stranger who was standing below.&;quot; He was right underneath and he was like 'Yes‚ throw your daughters out‚ I'm going to catch them‚ I'm going to get them‚'&;quot; Jimenez told CBS. So the terrified mom did what any mom would've done to save her babies—she tossed them one at a time out the window. And just as he'd promised‚ Hollins caught them. Valerie‚ who is just a year old‚ was dropped to safety first‚ then 8-year-old Natalie made the two-story fall into Hollins' arms. The family dogs were next out the window before it was time for Jimenez to make the jump. After some coaxing‚ the mom made the leap‚ and Hollins again made the catch‚ saving everyone in the house. When everything was said and done‚ Hollins saved the entire family and the dogs. Soon after Jimenez jumped to safety‚ the fire department showed up to put out the blaze. Multiple families lost their home that night‚ but thanks to Hollins‚ the Jimenez family didn't lose their lives. In an effort to help Hollins after saving this family‚ a GiveSendGo was created and people can donate here. A GoFundMe was also created for the young mom and her daughters‚ and people who would like to help can do so by donating here.If you ask the hero‚ he's no hero at all. He told CBS News that anyone in his shoes would've done the same thing. Hollins was in the right place at the right time‚ and because of his willingness to help‚ he saved an entire family. You can watch the entire interview below. This article originally appeared on 5.24.23

They watched their wedding cake crash to the ground. The groom's reaction was perfection.

They watched their wedding cake crash to the ground. The groom's reaction was perfection.

It's quite common for people to fantasize about their wedding day—the ceremony‚ the bridal party‚ the dress‚ the cake—and some people spend months or even years meticulously planning every detail. People even spend thousands of dollars hiring wedding planners to make sure that the big day stays fully organized and all the moving parts come together without a hitch. But no matter how well you plan‚ sometimes things that simply can't be predicted happen. And how you and your beloved handle the hitches and glitches on your wedding day can say a lot. Especially when that hitch or glitch is something major…like watching the beautiful‚ four-tier wedding cake—the one you spent time choosing and lots of money creating to share with your wedding guests—come crashing to the ground right in front of you. That's what happened to one couple who eagerly watched as the caterers who were carrying their wedding cake tripped on their way into the room‚ sending their cake to an untimely demise in spectacular fashion. The video‚ shared by @the.sarik on Instagram‚ is only about 10 seconds long‚ but it tells a whole beautiful love story in the reactions of both the groom and the bride. Watch: See on Instagram First of all‚ hope those waiters are OK. But secondly‚ staying calm and making the most of a bad situation is a huge character plus‚ and this groom clearly has those qualities in spades. You can see in the bride's face that she knows it‚ too. &;quot; Her eyes show that she knows she got the right guy‚&;quot; wrote one commenter. &;quot; The way he just called her to eat is just phenomenal‚&;quot; shared another.&;quot;'Cake is still cake.' Yelling at those waiters won't solve anything‚ but it can ruin their whole lives‚&;quot; wrote another. &;quot; They know their mistake‚ and they can be corrected privately. May the reaction of this man be an inspiration to us all‚ to care for the feelings of other people more than material things.&;quot;&;quot;Of all the things that could ruin a wedding day‚ I'm glad the husband knew this didn't have to be one of them‚&;quot; shared another. When unpredictable things do happen‚ it's largely the reaction of the people involved that determines whether they become tragic tales or entertaining stories. If what we saw in the video is any indicator‚ this couple will be telling their grandkids someday about how the guys carrying their wedding cake tripped and ruined it‚ and how Grandpa's response won Grandma's heart all over again. This article originally appeared on 7.27.23

Street artist creates delightful 3D scenes in walls and walkways for everyone to enjoy

Street artists are a special breed. While &;quot;the art world&;quot; can sometimes be a snooty‚ elite place for those with means‚ street art is made for everyone. Sometimes that means large public murals‚ but street art can be small‚ too. In fact‚ some of the best street art is so small you might miss it if you're not paying attention. But those who are can discover some delightful surprises.Just imagine walking down a sidewalk and seeing this little fella at your feet: See on Instagram Or this young lady:Or this creature: See on Instagram That would make your day‚ wouldn't it&;#63; Or at least bring a smile to your face for a while&;#63;Public art is an act of love to strangers‚ a way of connecting to people without saying a word. It says‚ &;quot;Hey there‚ fellow human. Here's a little something to make you smile‚ just because.&;quot; That's the beauty of David Zinn's street art. It's meant for the public—just average passers-by—to enjoy‚ individually and collectively.Zinn has created an entire world of characters who pop up in unexpected places. For instance‚ meet Gerald the otter‚ who is waiting for a blind date in this tree stump. See on Instagram Zinn uses chalk and charcoal to make his cast of characters come to life in cracks and crevasses‚ sidewalks and tree trunks. His creations aren't meant to last forever; in fact‚ as Zinn points out‚ the temporary nature of them adds value to them.&;quot;Famous works of art hanging in museums get seen by thousands of people every day. But this&;#63; You could be among the dozens of people who get to see this while it exists‚&;quot; he told CBS Mornings. &;quot; That's pretty special.&;quot; Watch how he takes something he finds in the sidewalk and transforms it into a sweet little duo.Sometimes he uses natural things he finds as inspiration for a piece. See on Instagram See on Instagram Other times‚ he uses something human-made‚ like this upside down terra cotta pot: See on Instagram Or this manhole cover: See on Instagram Sometimes the shape of a rock lends itself to a character‚ like Keith and his emotional support chick here: See on Instagram Or the space itself serves as inspiration.Nadine the mouse features in many of Zinn's pieces‚ probably due to her small size making it easy for her to fit into small spaces. See on Instagram Usually his pieces use what's already there—like a crack in the sidewalk—to tell a story. See on Instagram The 3D nature of his drawings make it feel as if his characters are truly there. &;quot;Looks like another long day of things stubbornly refusing to be impossible‚&;quot; he writes in a caption of one of his &;quot;pigasuses.&;quot; See on Instagram (Speaking of having wings‚ Nadine found a pair for herself.) See on Instagram Watch Zinn turn a simple pot into a character with personality in a matter of minutes: His entire Instagram page‚ Facebook page and TikTok channel are filled with endless delight. It was nearly impossible to decide what to include in this article because I wanted to include everything. See on Instagram This is all well and good‚ you might say to yourself‚ but how does Zinn make a living if he's not selling this art&;#63; He sells books and prints of photos of his artwork on his online store. He also gets invited to schools and events. He has created a career for himself by rejecting blank canvases‚ putting his imagination out on the street for everyone to see for a while‚ then selling versions that will actually last. Pretty brilliant‚ really.Zinn gave a fascinating TEDx Talk explaining how he found his own artistic niche. You'll never look at a parking meter or sidewalk the same way again. A guy and his friends shared their travel plans. The results perfectly explain the wealth gap.

Sometimes you see something so mind-boggling you have to take a minute to digest what just happened in your brain. Be prepared to take that moment while watching these videos.Real estate investor and TikTok user Tom Cruz shared two videos explaining the spreadsheets he and his friends use to plan vacations and it's...well...something. Watch the first one: What in the wealth is thispic.twitter.com/NTPTKT5CZG — Karim Alammuri (@Karim Alammuri) 1629292830 So &;quot;Broke Bobby&;quot; makes $125‚000 a year. There's that. How about the fact that his guy has more than zero friends who budget $80‚000 for a 3-day getaway&;#63; Y'all. I wouldn't know how to spend $80‚000 in three days if you paid me to. Especially if we're talking about a trip with friends where we're all splitting the cost. Like what does this even look like&;#63; Are they flying in private jets that burn dollar bills as fuel&;#63; Are they bathing in hot tubs full of cocaine&;#63; I genuinely don't get it.To be crystal clear here‚ the top 5 friends on the Forbes list are willing to spend more than double what the guy at the bottom of the Welfare 10 list makes per year on a 3-day guy's trip. I don't know what to do with this information. “@Radio_Reem Those that make less are called the &;quot;Welfare 10&;quot; 😭😭😩” — Karim Alammuri (@Karim Alammuri) 1629292830 But that's not even the full spreadsheet. It might make sense if this guy was just rich‚ had always been rich‚ only knew rich people‚ and therefore having multiple millionnaire friends was his normal. Surely that's some people's reality who were born into the 1%.That's not the case here‚ though‚ because Cruz also has a Welfare 10 list. He says this group of friends who make less than $100K a year call themselves that‚ and perhaps that's true. (If I were a part of this group‚ I might call myself a welfare case too because everything's relative and some of these dudes spend more in an hour of vacation than I spend on my mortgage each month.)It's like we can see our society's wealth gap all laid out nice and neatly in a spreadsheet‚ only these people aren't even the uber-wealthy and uber-poor. This is just the range of this one guy's friends.I have nothing against people who build success and wealth for themselves‚ and even $5 million per year is hardly obscenely wealthy by billionaire standards. But Cruz says he's known most of his &;quot;welfare&;quot; friends since college‚ which presumably means most of those guys have college degrees and are making pittance in comparison with the Forbes list. One could claim the guy making $5 million a year just works harder‚ but does he really work 100 times harder than the guy making $50‚000&;#63; Doubt it.Money makes money‚ and after a certain threshold of wealth or income‚ it's actually quite easy to get and stay rich without actually &;quot;earning&;quot; more money‚ assuming you're reasonably wise and responsible. So maybe the guys who are willing to shell out $125‚000 for a week-long trip should offer to pay the travel expenses of the friends they &;quot;hang out with regardless of income&;quot; who don't even make that in a year‚ since that's probably just the interest they're making on their wealth anyway. But what do I know&;#63; This is like an entirely different world to me and probably 99+% of Americans‚ as evidenced by some of the responses. “@araless Broke Bobby every time it’s time for a trip https://t.co/VTUf3xW1DW” — Karim Alammuri (@Karim Alammuri) 1629292830 “@_jasminwats @Radio_Reem I noticed everyone with PTO has less than is legally required in the U.K.‚ crazy&;#33;&;#33;” — Karim Alammuri (@Karim Alammuri) 1629292830 Naturally‚ there will be a range of incomes in any group of people‚ but 1) most of us don't actually know how much our friends make‚ and 2) even fewer of us make spreadsheets with that information in order to rank our friends and figure out who can go on which vacations.People are just endlessly fascinating. That's all I've got. This article originally appeared on 08.20.21
